Good morning from Bristol in loco MickI hope he’s feeling better.
It is daylight, cloudless, clear and warm. I’m getting fed up with this…. Give me some rain!
Yesterday was quiet. I had a T’ai Chi class just before lunch. Apparently, the tutor is new. He is very sweet, but not always audible - he doesn’t explain what we are supposed to do, just copy him. I tend to get my limbs tangled and my eyes crossed trying to follow! Boy, he does exercise us, very gently, but we do get a good workout.
I did a little sewing with DD’s borrowed sewing machine. It was so nice. I tried to buy a pedal and power cable, but it seems my own machine is too old (some 18 years) for anyone to keep spares. I’m half minded to buy another, newer model.
Had dinner at DD’s with the family, came home and fell into bed - just after 9. Rotten night, I don’t know why. Probably the heat.
Today, I think I have a meeting with my financial advisor. Not sure. In the mail he said “Friday”, but it could be next week!
I’m baking for a church clothes exchange tomorrow. Coffee and walnut sandwich, Biscoff fairy cakes.
May today bring contentment to all for the forthcoming weekend.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning, another hot day coming up.

I finished all my jobs yesterday, by 8am and the jam turned out beautifully. Green to brown to red when it was ready to pot. I am going to make another batch in a few days. It was very helpful to prepare everything the day before

I am missing my cycling sessions, starting to feel like a blob. My hip/back is mended and I have decided that today is the day I get back to it. I need to be home by 9 to escape high uv and heat

GM I found a pedal for my vintage bernina, on ebay. This person might be worth asking

Have a lovely day

karma, you are wonderful! I shall order them in a moment…. I shall have duplicates when the other sewing machine bits resurface, but, hey! At least, I’ll have something to do!

Good morning, Mattie and Michael in absentia. I’m another who was awake at some ungodly hour listening to the dawn chorus! Had a good walk yesterday morning and then took my grandson out for lunch which was a huge pleasure for us both - me because I enjoy the company of a handsome young man, and him because he knows he can indulge himself from the menu! It was a chance for a good chat. Then I came home and washed my very mucky car. Too much dust on the roads with all this dry weather.
I have a day at home with nothing much to do today so I will bake chocolate brownies, potter in the garden and read.
Hope you’re doing okay Mick.
Have the best day you can folks.

Morning grandmattie. Morning All. Looks hazy out there, our last morning in Berkshire.

Thoroughly enjoyed a day at Blenheim Palace yesterday. Enough shade and breeze to keep cool. Our two nights away have been just right, good food, a large very comfortable room and delightful grounds to wander

A stop at Avebury and a visit to our son on the way home There will be time for another wander in the garden and coffee on the terrace before we leave here.

Hope mick is comfortable. My thoughts go to all who are finding life tough. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Erratum. One of the parts is only available for some £29 from US. Postage? £45! Nah!

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels warm already. I was woken at just after 4 am by a very loud aeroplane! We are fairly near to Benson, Brize Norton and Fairford, so who knows! I am taking Ripley the cat to the Vet this morning for her post-op check. She seems ok and the loss of a tooth doesn’t seem to be bothering her. I will get on with preparing a hanging basket, which I should have done the other day but it was too hot. The new picture frame arrived yesterday and I have messed up! Because it is custom made I can’t change it - it is too big. I have found several pictures which would fit and will pop into a picture framer in the next town for a frame for the print I bought on Sunday. I have form for this type of thing! There is an enormous picture frame in storage where I got my inches and centimetres muddled. Have a good day - special thoughts for Mick and of course the Urms.

Good morning from a breathless, Mediterranean-feeling Cornwall. Thinking of you Mick. Today coffee with a friend before the start of our annual Sea Shanty Festival at lunchtime, where for three days the sound of singing echoes throughout the town. People flock to hear the Fishermen's Friends but my favourite is a Breton group. I'll hear it all even from my patio.

A five-hour session at my allotment yesterday, started very early to beat the heat - the first bus there is at 7am. Saw the first dragonfly at my new pond and mulched my globe artichokes to make watering easier. (Re sewing machines, mine is tangling so a friend is coming next week to help sort it.)

Good morning everyone, another glorious start to the day albeit probably another too warm one for me and others 😊
Yesterday’s drive to my short break was good, it’s nice to see new countryside in lovely weather and I was very thankful for air conditioning in the car, 29° is a tad too hot.
Today is using mixed materials and mediums, being totally free to create a watercolour with texture which sounds fun (and is probably messy!)
The group is lovely, very friendly so I’m sure it’ll be a great break.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning! I’ve just posted on the wrong thread. Lovely start to the day, I’ve already been out as I am like a wet blanket in the mid day heat. I’m thinking of going on holiday either very early in the season or very late as I don’t want the heat as I used to however very envious of Mizuna and her idyllic location plus sea shanties at lunch, what’s not to like, wish I were there.

Good morning Mick in absentia and thank GM for opening up.
I was wakened at 5am, after a restless night, with excrutiating cramp in my ankle. It's ages since I have had that. 😫
Usually walking on the cold bathroom floor helps, the tiles were warm!
GM sewing machines are great until something goes wrong. Mine needed serviced, but there is no longer anyone local, who does it. Consequently, I stripped the machine down and managed to get a replacement needle threader online, which I replaced myself. Its amazing what you can do, when pushed!

DH is golfing ( mad dogs and all that...) and I shall need to go somewhere with air condition for essentials. I'm really struggling with my breathing, due to the heat, on occasions I feel as if I'm suffocating.
I could easily have it delivered, but I am determined not to sit at home wallowing!

Yesterday, I managed to leave a message for the rheumatologist, but was disappointed to hear that the dept is overwhelmed with calls and it could be days before I heard anything.
I toddled off to the doctors and whilst sitting in the queue in the pharmacy, the hospital called. Now that is impressive, only two hours after my initial call!
I had to conduct my (very successful) consultation in the main street, with lorries thundering by, it was not easy, especially as my voice has gone again.
I have nothing but praise for the RA dept. The outcome is that, my immunotherapy injections will be delivered next Friday and despite being apprehensive, (as is DH) I will be able to begin my new treatment ASAP.
To make things even better, the new company have an app, which allows me to manage and track my delivery and the will email me to keep me up to date. I didn't have that with the last company, so that's a bonus. The Evri of the medical world! 😁
I also gave permission for DH to sign for the medication or talk to the company on my behalf ( unsure if that's such a good idea😉) if I am unwell.

DD popped in on her way home from work, we sat in the shade on the decking chatting. Time flew by, until she realised that she was very late to pick up SIL from the train and he had no keys!. Thank goodness the heat had affected the overhead cables and he was delayed. 😉

For all those on holiday, enjoy and best wishes to all in the sick bay.
Have a good day folks.

Good morning from an already warm Torbay. According to my car thermometer, it was still over 20 deg. when I drove home from a rehearsal after 10.00 last night.

I’m in awe of you ladies with your sewing skills! My dear Mum was a good knitter but didn’t sew, unlike those of my school friends. When it came to choosing ‘O’ level options (one choice was between Needlework, Woodwork and Music) the horrid needlework mistress said, “It’s to be hoped you have some talent for Music because you have absolutely none for Needlework!”

Luckily, I played the piano so was very happy to choose Music! 🎶. 15 years later, when we adopted our two year old DD1, we had very little money, no grants or benefits were payable (this was 1977) and she had few clothes, so I cut down some of my old dresses and hand sewed some pinafores for her.

Have a good day and I hope Mick is soon able to leave hospital. Keep cool! 🦩💐😎🥰🦩

Good morning all from the Black country another hot sunny day forecasted.
Heard from my friend in hospital they are still doing tests but it looks like she has COPD and asthma hopefully we can get to see her the weekend.
DH has a dental appointment this morning it's a 40 mile round trip to his dentist, he has been with them for nearly 40yrs he now sees the son who took over from his dad. We may call in and see his cousin while we're that way see how we are for time.
Meeting friends later at the club.
Hope Mick is doing ok.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from Cyprus, I can’t think of anything positive to say this morning, so I’ll just wish everyone a good day and hope that all with worries and sickness have a friendly shoulder to lean on.

ginny Fri 16-Jun-23 07:26:22

Good morning.
Looks like another sunny day in store. Yippee !
DH is off to golf so I’m just enjoying the tea he bought me. Then, I must get up and ready for 2 year old DGS to arrive. He and I will be going to meet DD1 at some local lakes with a playground .

This afternoon I shall prepare puds for tomorrow plus a fruity rice salad.

Thinking of all who are under par and wish all a good day.

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It is already hot but the air con is a huge blessing. Why didn't we have one installed years ago.
DH has already left for his boat. The underneath is finally getting the coating it needs, ready for antifouling. Hopefully it will be back in the water at the beginning of July. A good clean, from me, and then we can go away on it.
I have changed the bed and will now tackle a pile of ironing, all before 8 0'clock.
Have a great day everyone, keep hydrated and wear lots of sun cream xxx

Pittcity Fri 16-Jun-23 07:30:21

Good morning from sunny Colchester. We're back from the USA with jetlag, laundry and happy memories. DH's cousin and her DH are older than us and age meant it was a quiet visit mostly in their 2 beautiful houses. After dropping us at the airport they drove back to their Michigan home where a family of foxes had moved in.
Hope Mick is recovering well and love to all 🦩 x

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Jun-23 07:40:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and sunny still. I have never been able to follow a pattern and don't sew. I thoroughly respect those who can. Mum was a phenomenal knitter but couldn't show me how to do it. My ex mil taught me how to knit.
Yesterday I stayed home and managed to have a relatively cool house by keeping blinds closed and doors open. I sat out for a while but much prefer something to do when in the garden. There was a lovely breeze yesterday which helped. Mum was very tired when I visited. A lady with dementia is in the bed opposite and is constantly shouting for the nurses and trying to get out of bed, poor soul. She thought she was in the Co-op. Dd went to visit mum just after I left and she perked up a bit.
Today I'm heading out shortly to M & S for picnic food. It's an indulgence. Dgs1's nursery and school are having a family picnic in the grounds. There's a charity they support and proceeds will go to them. Dd asked if I wanted to go, so I offered to bring food. It looks like it'll be a lovely day too, which is a bonus.
Later on, I'll probably visit mum and show her photos. And dinner will be courtesy of M and S too! Have a good day all

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 16-Jun-23 07:48:35

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate.
You could try and see if there is an online local Freecycle or Freegle where you offer what you no longer have use for, all for free? Another idea, if you can find a local sewing machine repairer, they might have a spare that fits? Grandmattie.
Sorry you had a disturbed night with cramps ( that’s horrible) Marydoll my cramps have lessened since keeping a bit of soap in my bed! A pharmacist I spoke to couldn’t say why that worked, but it often does! Glad you are enjoying your art Roseslilac.
Meeting my Dsis off the train yesterday proved traumatic, her train had been affected by a body on the line . She was over two hours late arriving, exhausted by the weather and hanging about at a crowded Kings Cross Station for two hours. Today I think she wants to go to Otley.
Have the best day possible folks.

Wyllow3 Fri 16-Jun-23 07:58:16

Good Morning from another sunny S Yorks day. Did a wash last night to put out first thing.

Hoping to get out to the gym today, which has air con so the time doesn’t matter, but first have to wait in for a GP MOT call back

Ashcombe we got sewing and music and cookery at school. Recall I could sing from a sheet of music, I coolant now tho was left with an abiding love of music.

Mum was good at sewing but as a full time teacher with 4 kids didn’t get a chance to teach up. I've a old Bernina but you can still get parts last time I needed it.

Bests for poorlies today, and may outings go well - don’t overheat!

Marydoll Fri 16-Jun-23 08:01:18

Gwen, I'm intrigued about the soap.

Does it matter what kind it is and where in the bed, do you place it?

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-23 08:02:53

Good morning all from an already warm and sunny North Leicestershire.

Despite having a Sainsbury's delivery yesterday, I need to nip to the actual store as we have a surprise overnight visit from Bertie, Persie and Wolfie. Apart from that I have nothing much to do apart from a phone call to my car insurers (coincidentally, also Sainsbury's) My car has a deep scratch on the wing and a dent in the bumper. No idea how it happened, where or when - very odd.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Jun-23 08:03:02

Morning all blue sky and sunny here, I managed to get all holiday washing dry yesterday.

Early evening we had a BBQ with DD and GSs.

Off to the gym this morning then pick up The Imp from preschool at lunchtime.

(((Hugs))) to all in need, 🙋‍♀️🦩
