One of my ‘Triffids’ has grown 2.5 inches overnight!

I am up in Suffolk at the moment and everywhere I go there are fabulous tall, healthy, beautiful dark red hollyhocks, with the biggest leaves, showing no rust and glorious colours. I am envious!

Since I made that mark on the 21st, it’s grown 10.5 inches! Flower buds now coming along nicely. I was hoping they’d be flowering by the time a Dsis and niece from across the pond will be back in a week’s time after visiting other family, but only for 2 nights before flights home, but alas I don’t think so.

We have two clumps of deep pink foxgloves growing at two different areas of the garden. So pretty I may buy white to mix with the pink.

Same in my garden Marydoll, foxgloves appeared from nowhere and are a beautiful addition to the garden.
My four hollyhocks are growing rapidly, showing buds which I can’t wait to see burst open. A beautiful reminder of visits to l’Isle de Rey where hollyhocks grow profusely in various colours.

Our Triffids were a group of Verbascum that we thought were going to grow to be about a foot tall. Imagine our surprise when they grew to over 6 feet tall and took over the border. They looked very striking for a couple of weeks but got incredibly messy.

I had to learn how to resize an image to post this, as the site wouldn't accept it. Every day is a school day on GN!

Honeysuckle is triffid-like round here. Grows everywhere and on everything. There's a holly tree under this lot.

I took a photo, but it says the image is too large to upload. 🤣

My triffid is my wisteria. Went away for ten days actually worrying that it was looking decidedly poorly and return to a veritable jungle with tentacles !longer than I've ever seen them. Happy days!

Mine aren’t flowering yet Marydoll - plenty of buds coming - but they were planted not long ago - I had over six feet of newly bare fence to ‘clothe’ for the summer. So glad I thought of hollyhocks, they’re doing brilliantly so far.

Another one with triffids. Same height as my 2m fence and growing. They have brought lovely colour to the garden.
