Anyone beenw; there this year, or festival’s you’ve been to/going to?

Christine and the Queens. I've done some googling. Fabulous performance.

Best act I've seen this year.

Thank goodness it's over. I've had it on because I saw them many years ago and used to love them. It was horrendous. However there was a moment of joy when a young chap in the audience was filmed trying to get his lighter to work. Trying being the operative word.

I had such a crush on Axl.

There's now a topless singer on. I rather like the song. Great voice. But I can't stop looking at the nipple plasters.

Don’t forget that Axl Rose is 61! He’s doing ok. He’ll be getting his bus pass soon.
Slash has to be one of the best guitarists ever - along with Richie Sambora! 👍😎
Trivia fact - apparently Slash’s mother had an affair with David Bowie.

Deedaa

Caught the Arctic Monkeys and a bit of the Foo Fighters last night. Now watching Guns 'n Roses. Axl may be getting a bit past it but Slash is as brilliant as ever.

Yes!

I was thinking that he looked like Eddie Izzard…

GnR played Donington the week after my second child was born. I thought Axl was gorgeous then. Now he looks like Donald Trump. The singing is better than at the start of the set but he’s really lost whatever it was that he had. Slash and Duff are still super cool!

There's more to life than money
Yes, but when someone has saved up their pocket money for weeks then are let down it's a tough lesson.

And I do agree There's more to life than money so this might not be the best career choice for someone with problems, however talented.

Maybe you should ask some of his fans how they feel after watching him struggle tonight, doubt many of them would agree with you, and I'm pretty sure they would be given refunds in any case. There's more to life than money, especially when it involves someone's health.

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:46:47

sarcastic?
No, realistic.

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:45:50

In the wrong job then?

He should stick to song-writing for others instead of disappointing fans, some of whom have saved for tickets to see him.

nogin Sat 24-Jun-23 22:40:13

If he does cancel, it isn't because he is "too exhausted" as you sarcastically comment, it is because he cannot physically sing due to the tourettes. He rested for the previous 3 weeks in the hope that it would help tonight, but unfortunately the tourettes still got the better of him. I very much doubt he will lose fans because of something he has no control over.

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:28:39

Agree Rick Astley brilliant

He was and I liked the fact that he gave members of his band a chance for solos.

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:26:48

I think it’s unfair to say he was unprofessional

I didn't say he was this evening.

However, cancelling other concerts at short notice to 'save himself for Glastonbury' certainly let down a lot of fans, which was unprofessional.

I hope he's not "too exhausted" to perform at his future concerts. He'll lose a lot of fans if he does.

Visgirl Lizzie was amazing but when I look at the sea of people I am happy not to be there.

Callistemon
I think it’s unfair to say he was unprofessional. He is a superb singer/songwriter who suffers increasingly with Tourette’s syndrome. Stress brought on by performing makes it worse. To do his best for his fans was great but not for his condition, as we ( who saw him on tv) could plainly comprehend.

dragonfly46 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:18:23

I am missing George Ezra this year. He was on the secret stage last year.

dragonfly46 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:17:45

That’s really judgemental Callistemon he cannot control his condition. Maybe Lewis Capaldi should stick to song writing. His songs are beautiful.

Visgir1 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:17:19

Agree Rick Astley brilliant, Lewis Capaldi bless him did struggle but they crowd were fantastic.
Lizzo, loved her what a set!
Its been good so far, wish I was there.

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Jun-23 22:13:54

Well, I hope they get a refun if he cancels.

Pittcity Sat 24-Jun-23 22:13:43

Rick Astley and Lewis Capaldi definitely outshone Axl Rose who is showing his age.

nogin Sat 24-Jun-23 22:10:57

I wouldn't say it's unprofessional, he is clearly really struggling against the tourettes, he appeared quite emotional towards the end as didn't appear to be able to finish the last song because of it.

Absolutely loved Lewis Capaldi, but you could see he was really struggling with his tourettes tonight. He apparently said earlier this year that he may have to give up singing because of it, would be such a terrible shame if that happened, such a beautiful voice.

He cancelled some of his concerts in the last few weeks to 'save himself for Glastonbury'.
He has more concerts planned and if he cancels he will leave more fans very disappointed.

Very unprofessional.

merlotgran Sat 24-Jun-23 22:02:01

Lizzo was great!
