Another thing to add to my list of “I have never…”
Along with attended a Test Match, Premiership football match or Last Night of the Proms. 😢

Currently watching tonight’s preview programme. Really looking forward to it, but still miss John Peel!

I shall watch some on TV but I'm not going.

I know people who are there this year, and I’d love to be too . I’d only go myself now if I had a large luxury campervan with facilities though, my days of tiny tents and portaloos are over.

I shall be watching chasing my youth

I went to a festival @ 1969 that I always thought was the first Glastonbury but that didn’t start till 1970. I don’t know anyone from that period of my life to ask unless my flat mate at the time might remember. I met up with a crowd of lads that I’d worked with the year before but decided not to stay. My flat mate seems to remember more about what I got up to back then than I do but she didn’t come with me to that.

I will record it and watch bits n bobs.

merlotgran Thu 22-Jun-23 22:56:31

I shall definitely watch some of it on TV.

Our former daughter in law is there, she’s always wanted to go. I sort of wish I had been just once - many years ago though. Too crowded and too loud for me now and that’s without considering portaloos. I’ll watch some on tv or listen on the radio, that will be enough.

Shinamae Thu 22-Jun-23 23:15:40

Never have wanted to and the prices they charge for tickets now just as well!…😎

henetha Thu 22-Jun-23 23:25:20

I watch bits of it here and there if it's singers or bands I like. I wouldn't want to actually go to it. But it's great for those who do. We're lucky to have such a fantastic festival.

It's priced out of many people's reach now. I'll make a point of watching Slash on Saturday.

I hope they show a bit of Paul Carrack’s performance. DH and I used to see him every year, other than during Covid, when DH died. Although Paul will be back at Sage, Gateshead later this year, I know I’d find it too saddening to go.
He’s an excellent performer.

Shall dip in and out of the coverage

Me too GG. I think lots of it will be on iplayer. Looking forward to Tom Grennon, Lewis Capaldi, Lizzo and I will watch Elton John.

I might have enjoyed it years ago but not now. I find I don't like being with lots of people nowadays.

I have been to a Test Match and a Premier league match, Foxy and lots of big concerts (both indoors and out) but, sadly, not Last Night of the Proms.

I’ll watch bits of it but this year there’s not really anyone I’m particularly interested in seeing.
I’ve been to Glastonbury several times and love it, my son has now taken over for me. I would do it again but only in luxury, my days of mud and dodgy loos are over.

Georgesgran I agree about Paul Carrack. I’ve seen him many times with Eric Clapton, the last time was last year in Copenhagen.

You don’t know what you are missing Foxygloves I’ve been to all those events, although it was The Proms In The Park .
Have you chosen not to go, or just not got around to it yet?

I like to try anything once, and the Test Match fell into that category, although Bob Willis and Imran Khan made it very easy (Swoon)

We once went to Proms in the Park with Terry Wogan and a brilliant ABBA group. It was a wonderful night, the second half is watched on big tv screens and when it ended as we queued in the tube we sang the traditional songs we all know. The acoustics were brilliant and it’s one I won’t forget.

Was it Knebworth?

I had tickets to go to Knebworth in the early 70s and I think it had been around for a few years before that.

I chickened out of going at the last minute. I was worried about getting lost from my friends. No mobile phones then.

Oh let him have a bit of freedom, it’s only a few days😄

Interesting experiences, I’ve not been to Glastonbury, but twice to Download, was Monsters of Rock, IoW festival and Garock in France.
No test match, but one day internationals and I used to have a season ticket for Southampton FC, before I got an allotment.
