I worked in the MH tent in 2004 when Paul McCartney headlined. We had our own camp, loos and showers, it was great but also remember the rain and thick claggy mud.. we had transport to get back to the staff carpark but huge numbers of people just left their tents.. it is a huge site. I'm glad I did it but haven't wanted to go again

I went to Glastonbury back in the day and it was great. Watching Elton John last night I wished I was there again. He was amazing. Cat Stevens was great too. Really enjoyed the coverage this year.

Spent most of the day on iplayer watching Glastonbury, particularly enjoyed the Pretenders.

I wondered if Elton's family were there 😊

@NanaK .... i enjoyed Elton and the other big headliners...but standout moments were...Paul carrack singing living years ....and Rick Astley doing a surprise set with the Blossoms ..... it was my eldest GDs first Glastonbury (.she's 7 ) ....so I spent a fair amount of time watching street theatre, puppet shows and circus acts with her 😊

All sounds perfect, so pleased that you and your GD had such a good time

I wasn't keen on the Arctic Monkeys, thought I'd better watch as DGD went to see them last week.
It must be an age thing 😁

You’re not alone.
Their performance got slated, even by their fans

I found the drummer a bit of a pain too, glamma but forgave him for the joy and the sincerity he exuded. And the inclusion of the youngsters.

They are DH's sort of music really (I like words) and he loves Moses Boyd too - he has seen him a couple of times.

This is my fav Moses Boyd set (recorded in lockdown ).

Lots of men become fathers in later life and are probably better and more patient than some young fathers.

I absolutely loved Elton. This almost feels hypocritical as I’m quite judgmental of his imho need to be a father in older age. It seriously aggravates me.

I really loved Glastonbury this year. Wasn't it brilliant. I had to record Elton so will watch it today sometime. I particularly enjoyed Cat Stevens, still marvellous at 74.

I saw the Ezra Collective kittylester. We’ve watched them for a while. There’s a good video on YouTube of them playing in a studio in Utrecht. However the drummer did my head in by repeating every other sentence “Do you hear what I’m saying”. Good the way they showcased up and coming young musicians
though. I prefer Moses Boyd (seen live twice).

I need to find out which albums some of those songs are on. There have been a couple of documentaries about Christie Henderson recently that I’ve watched. I didn’t realise that she came to the UK to become a singer and the group had many incarnations. One documentary showed her visiting graveyards. She said she liked to pay her respects to neglected graves because it was nice that those people might be remembered. As someone that always has to walk round graveyards reading the names on the headstones I rather warmed to her for that. She wouldn’t like me, though as she’s very contemptuous of anyone that eats meat. Her guitarist is married to Kami Thompson. I’ve always thought it was quite a good career move, marrying Richard Thompsons daughter!

I'm another who thought the Pretenders were great, bit of a back catalogue to be buying there!

Washerwoman Mon 26-Jun-23 06:59:39

Maybe -i was the same with the Pretenders I hadn't intended to watch much but Christie Hynde is amazing and for me it was the highlight of Glastonbury this year.I also thought Rick Astley was great. I did enjoy Elton and was glad his voice held out.Although I don't know why I found Paul Mcartneys set last year far more emotional. That made me cry, especially his tribute to George.

Just watching The Pretenders. Only planned to watch a bit of it but they’re so good I’ve ended up watching the whole set. They’re brilliant. The guitarist is in my favourite folk group, The Rails. I think I’m going to have to buy all of their albums now. I’ve never been a fan.

Thank you, notagran55, I missed your reply earlier. 👍

Thanks, dogsmother, I'll try to find it on catch up tomorrow .

My husband (2nd time around for both of us) went to the Isle of Wight when the fence fell down and got in for free! He was 15. He and his mate told their parents they were staying at each others house and then got the train and the ferry there. They were just sitting on the grass outside listening and then the fence came down! So jealous!
