Good morning Mick, it’s good to hear you’re getting better.
A dull start here in south Gloucestershire, I suspect it’s going to be horribly muggy again.
After meeting a dear friend for coffee at a garden centre yesterday I felt really quite unwell, this weather really doesn’t agree with me 🙄
Today a very early dog walk then a bit of pottering in the garden trying to keep on top of the weeds!
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🌹

harrigran Sat 24-Jun-23 06:13:21

Good morning from an overcast NE where the forecast is for 25 degrees.
I have been awake since 3am, woken by dreadful stomach pains.
Family are visiting this afternoon, just hope I am able to cook dinner.
My sister is leaving for the airport at 9am after six weeks in the UK, in three months she will be back again.
Take it easyMick until you regain your strength, baby steps.

Mizuna Sat 24-Jun-23 06:20:42

Sounds like you're being well cared for Mick. Another hot day threatens in Cornwall. That plus around 100,000 (yep!) people due to descend on our town for a big military event. The parade will go past my window. Red Arrows performing twice etc etc! Eldest son and his five year old are asleep in my makeshift bedroom so they can start early and get ahead of the crowds, the rest of their family joining them later. I may bale out to my allotment ahead of the throngs arriving. Quite an event, and I imagine a lot of pasties will be consumed!

karmalady Sat 24-Jun-23 06:21:06

Good morning, already warm and another hot day today

Slothful day today, the only way I can cope with the heat but first a brisk hilly walk before 9am. No cycling for a few days, the roads have slippery areas on them at the moment, someone has been careless

I potter in this uncomfortable warmth, the most I did yesterday was to lop down a branch that started to overhang my neighbours garden, it was an easy job. I do like reclining outside in the afternoon, in the east facing shade by my house. Then I read my book for a bit, have cold drinks and nod off.

Have a lovely day

grandMattie Sat 24-Jun-23 06:21:10

Good morning from a cloudless Bristol.
Obey medics’ orders, Mick for a faster recovery.
Had a quiet day yesterday, just a visit to the library. Another empty today, building society to close an account, and church coffee and chat.
Hugs to those in distress. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Allsorts Sat 24-Jun-23 06:22:47

Good morning everyone, a dull start but it will brighten up. Got to do some shopping and gardening, which I keep putting off.
Have a good day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Jun-23 06:29:36

Morning all

The sun is shining here in S E Essex, I have come downstairs with The Imp and his brother whilst DH has a little more sleep.

They will want to play in the spa pool soon, hopefully DD will be back by lunchtime to pick them up.

Sar53 enjoy your birthday celebrations later 🥂🎂🎉
Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Gala Sat 24-Jun-23 06:34:57

Good morning from an overcast but warming up Sefton. The forecast is for a hot & sunny afternoon. I also find this continuous heat difficult to cope with. But this afternoon I shall be inside watching a matinee performance by our local musical theatre group. DS2 has a small part & is also in the chorus. DS1 will be in the audience for a change.
Think I shall get up & tackle the ironing while it is still comparatively cool. Take care all.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 24-Jun-23 06:35:32

Good morning from what feels like a muggy South Downs.

Yesterdays visit to the heart clinic went well. They told DH that the latest pacemaker is no bigger than a pill, which is injected into your body and finds its way to your heart where is then sends all necessary information to the computer at the hospital without any need for checkups etc. DHs pacemaker is now quite old but still a marvel. Apparently he had an incident at 2pm on 29th May - he was actually behind his woodworkers stall at Steyning Country Fair. He was totally unaware of it, as before he would have fallen unconscious and it would have involved ambulances etc and in one case those heart paddles! So life and death!! Wonderful NHS.

Today I am making a desert to take to a party/barbecue. It is Mary Merry’s cooking for crowds big meringue/cream/fruit thing. DH has prepared me a long board and I’ll cover it in foil. I then have to take in a dress I’m planning to wear, although I might abandon that and wear something else. I’m also taking the hostess some pasties I’ve made and frozen - but just for their consumption.

Last I must try to plant those salvias.

Hope everyone is coping with illness/sadness and other difficulties.

Enjoy your day peeps.

Sar53 Sat 24-Jun-23 06:38:11

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is already warm and sunny.
I have my birthday celebration lunch today, 24 of us in a local hotel.
I hope that those who have to travel arrive without incident.
Have a super Saturday everyone and take care in that hot sun xx🌞🌞

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 24-Jun-23 06:40:42

Morning all from a muggy West Oxfordshire. OH will go and see his bees later this morning. They aren’t doing very well at the moment. After lunch we will drive down to Bath and meet some old friends. We have tickets for a classical concert. When we visited Norwich cathedral last year we watched a group of musicians rehearsing. OH in particular was very impressed and discovered their concert timetable. Bath was the closest venue for us. So, an early dinner with our friends and then the concert. Have a good day everyone.

monk08 Sat 24-Jun-23 06:40:57

Good morning all from a muggy Black country.
Mick glad to see you are being looked after, do as they tell you take things slowly.
Don't know the plans for today will wait to see what my visitors would like to do. I'm having a chill at the moment before everyone is up and the full English will be required.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Grandmabatty Sat 24-Jun-23 06:44:31

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 18° and damp so there has been quite a bit of rain. Mick take things very gently. Grannygravy a spa pool sounds lovely! Mizuna that sounds much too busy for me. I'm not a fan of big crowds.
Yesterday was livened up by a visit from dd and dgs2. It is always nice to see her. Mum was better last night. She has been struggling with two ladies in the ward who were shouting for the nurses all night. Both ladies have memories issues so it couldn't be helped but mum and the lady beside her have had a few difficult nights. Both those ladies have moved and the replacements are very quiet. The constant quiet care is wonderful, from the nurses and health care workers.
Today I'm meeting an ex colleague who is also a very good friend. We're going for brunch then to the school fair. I'm not fussed about the fair but she wants to go so I'll tag along. It'll be nice to see some former colleagues.
I'll have to fit in a trip to Aldi too as I'm nearly out of food. Then a visit to mum at night. Have a good day all

Grammaretto Sat 24-Jun-23 06:57:05

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sun's up.
I have to bake a cake and be on duty at the community café at 9am .
DGS school musical last night was truly wonderful. and there's no bias

I'm glad you are being well looked after Mick

Harrigran take it easy. I would send for a carry out if I were you and certainly not cook.

Have a lovely day everyone..

Ashcombe Sat 24-Jun-23 07:04:58

Good morning from a cloudy but warm Torbay.

I hope your pains soon subside, harrigran. It sounds as if you’re being well cared for, Mick and deservedly so. Wonderful technology improvements benefitting your DH, Whitewavemark2!

One proud grandma, I imagine, Gala! What musical is it, I wonder? Enjoy your concert, Ladyleftfieldlover and the BBQ, Whitewavemark2, also your birthday celebration, Sar53! What a busy time for many GM regulars!

Today, I’m going over to Teignmouth by bus for a Folk Festival that’s on throughout this weekend. I shan’t mind if the sun doesn’t grace us with its presence!

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

baubles Sat 24-Jun-23 07:10:39

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Take it easy Mick.
Harrigran I hope you feel better soon.

Yesterday was the last day of DGD’s an outdoor art class and the children could take an adult with them and so I spent a couple of hours sitting on tarpaulins on the grass. We played with clay, painted pictures and did some finger knitting. Good fun although I did need my coffee afterwards.

Work again today, it’ll be another busy one I’m sure.

Have the best day possible everyone.

LauraNorderr Sat 24-Jun-23 07:10:56

Good morning Mick, lovely to see you back in the yellow jersey leading your good morning team. Your absence has brought home to us all just how important your thread is to everyone.
Your selfless opening up each day, sharing your routine and then sitting back and allowing us all to share our joys and our sorrows, our happiness and our sadness. Encouraging us to give support or to ask for it when needed.
A great big thanks and a welcome back Mick.
Good morning everyone else from a cooler, rather damp and grey Anglesey after weeks of glorious sunshine.
Joining monk for the usual Saturday full English, then off to a local craft fair.
I don’t post often these days, truth is I don’t get up early enough. 💤 but am interested in all your doings, your busyness as Pantglas used to say. Where is she these days?
Hoping you all find your random pink flamingo today, most especially Urms constantly in my thoughts, Kalu and Gingster going through the mill.

Good morning everyone from another overcast day in Northampton, but it is supposed to clear later this morning. Sitting here with Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the Sixties on the radio - ah, my mis-spent youth! Lots of happy memories....

Shall have a late brunch, then this afternoon I am treating a friend to tea and cake at the local garden centre. They sent me a voucher for my birthday, it expires next week, so thought I had better get on and use it.

My hay fever was very bad again yesterday, despite using the tablets Marydoll recommended; I am ok as long as I stay indoors, but just walking 5 minutes to the bus stop was enough to start me off. Did not cut the grass yesterday, and the weeds are multiplying by the day!

Came home from the shops with a new dress, a blouse and new underwear which was on a 3 for 2 special offer, all Sainsbury's. The dress I was undecided on, as it is a midi - but full length on me! - I tried it on and a customer said it looked fabulous on, so that swayed me! Will do nicely for my cruise.

Hope your birthday lunch goes well, Sar, it sounds lovely.
Take care Mick and don't overdo it.

Hope Saturday goes well for all.

Nannagarra Sat 24-Jun-23 07:16:20

Good morning from sunny Norfolk.
A five mile walk through pretty villages is planned, following a visit to the splendid butcher’s shop.
Thinking of Kalu, Urms, those in need of a hand hold and hoping you all have the best day possible.

Good morning all from another sunny day here on the Suffolk coast. I’m so pleased we are here in this weather as it’s cooler than ‘home’ and we have more shady places to sit out.

Yesterday we had fish and chips at the cafe on the beach. Not as good as Dunwich or Aldeburgh but convenient and ok. We invited our lovely neighbour but she said ‘it’s a bit too hot for me, I’ll take a rain check’ 😉. We like to treat her as she is so good while are away.
We walked the dog in the forest where the rhododendrons were in full bloom.I was videoing Dh walking among them (for family wassap) when I heard the cuckoo - first time this year) . I said ‘V, listen to the cuckoo about 3 times before he heard me or the cuckoo’. 😬. DS1 replied ‘I’ve more chance of hearing it here in London than dad has. 😂🤣.

Dh has gone to get the papers and some croissants for breakfast so we’ll have those with our coffee in the garden.

Sar have a lovely birthday lunch.🎉🎁.
Mick take it easy.
Mizuna escape to your allotment for some tranquility.
Marydoll I hope you have a better day 🙏

We won’t be going far today. Maybe a walk with little pooch in the cool of the forest. Listening out for the cuckoo! 🤣.

Hoping you all have a pleasant day 🌸

Good morning from sunny Colchester. I'm another who doesn't thrive in this mugginess. Had a rough night despite, or maybe because of, the new fans. No plans yet for today so I may try to get a bit more sleep in the morning coolness.
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Sat 24-Jun-23 07:25:11

Good morning all from a muggy Glasgow, where its already 18°C. I'm already feeling the effects of this.

Mick, you are very fortunate to have good care. My neighbour with bowel cancer last year, came home and never had any home visits, he had to visit the surgery. His chemo tablets were delivered by courier.
I hope you have some kind of support in place to help with daily living, it can't be easy on your own.

It will be a very gentle day for me. I'm fretting, because Dollie goes on holiday tomorrow and I'm not well enough today to see her, before she goes. DD dropped off her holiday pocket money for me yesterday, because I'm not allowed to drive until this latest episode settles down.
A lovely day was spent with DD yesterday, I tried to have a difficult conversation with her, but she metaphorically had her fingers in her ears.
I have decided to write a letter, it's easier.

After my meds were delivered and she had done my shopping, she took me for a cuppa at the garden centre, ( Kalu, the one near you), I thought I was OK and was so glad to be out, but very slow. Thank goodness there were lots of garden benches spread about.
A mental shopping list was composed for a later date, when I shall drag DH for a visit, under the pretext of treating him to lunch. DD purchased an Easter Island head planter, which apparently DS had always wanted. Frankly, I find them creepy.
However, on arriving back home I was very sick and slept for two hours. It was all too much for me.

Harri, I hope you feel better as the day goes on and your lunch goes well, Sar.

Have a good day, folks.

Marydoll Sat 24-Jun-23 07:31:26

BlueSappire, I have a fair number of TU midi dresses, but find them slightly long, so I turn the hem up once and they are perfect,
Last week, I was browsing online and got a midi one which I definitely didn't need in the sale for £5.60, it is perfect on, but did need a turn up of the hem.

monk08 Sat 24-Jun-23 07:32:02

Nice to see you posting LauraNorderr I to have wondered about Pantglas with her morning chamberpot🍵
