Surely he’s writing about the wrong Endgame?

Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame, is about the royal family’s fight for survival. It’s to be released in November, no doubt in time for the Christmas market.

He clearly wasn’t at the Trooping of the Colour or Royal Ascot, let alone the Coronation itself. I think he’s barking up the wrong tree here 😂

I think you are showing your own true colours, Gundy

Tom Bower in a interview said - he has spoken to a reliable source, Harry told this source that Megan is in contact with Diana !

You make a good point nanna.

I'm not and never have been a royalist. My respect and affection for the late Queen came as she aged and I've never been a fan of Charles.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan now, but I do have a lot of sympathy for him because of H's & M's behaviour. It's a terrible thing to be estranged from your own child and GC even without the public trashing that the RF's been subjected too.

I agree totally with you Smileless. I’m not really a royalist, but I feel great sympathy for them all over what has happened with Harry and Meghan, and this apparently odious little man who is simply jumping on to their bandwagon in order to make money. Money is what motivates all three of them and we all know the saying money is the root of all evil.

Thankfully we still live in a country where anyone can write a book about anyone else - as long as it is truthful.

I think that’s the bit Scobie going to find difficult. M and H got away with their “recollections” because the RF decided not to challenge or take legal action against them as “much loved” members of the family.

They may decide otherwise with an outsider.

Yes, they not be as tolerant of any false allegations Lathyrus; could be interesting.

Joseann

Crikey, I studied Endgame by Samuel Beckett for my dissertation at university, in French.
The book was about a family on a path to decay and destruction, and if I remember there was a character, Clov, maybe like Charles, who was full of sorrow and pain. The main theme was the family's inability to communicate, parent with child, and to find peace with each other.
For me, the title is no accident, and has parellels, though I'm not sure Scobie, Harry and Meghan know much about 20th century European literature.
Keep writing this trash Scoobie if you must. What you don't realise is that in the end, what you say is all ABSURD anyway. That's the point, no one is taking any notice.

Sounds like he's definitely got his ideas from the original Endgame then. Maybe in the same way H&M are basing their next film/book/podcast/whatever on Great Expectations and Miss Havisham. Don't any of them have any original thoughts?

I believe Omid Scobie worked as an equerry or some such to Princes William and Harry when they were young men, but I have no idea where I read that. He was also working in the offices of the Mirror (?) when he overheard Piers Morgan make incriminating remarks about phone hacking. Apparently.
This book, due to be published in November, may well be Scobie's attempt to upstage Harry's second memoir and dish the dirt himself. Such joy.

I don't think Scobie has been an equerry or worked in the offices of the Mirror, eazybee.

I understand just fine maytime2.
And Maddyone.

Have a g’day!

Dickens will turn in his grave. The recent remake of Great Expectations was bad enough.

Anniebach Fri 30-Jun-23 17:33:35

I am sure the Sussex couple have supporters, as does Donald
Trump

eazybee Fri 30-Jun-23 18:28:08

I am sure Scobie gave evidence at the recent newspaper hacking trial, saying he had overheard Piers Morgan discussing phone hacking.

I certainly will not read this tosh. Nor did I read or see the tosh that the so called Prince and his wife created. I am pretty clear that the reason they call it their truth rather than the truth, is because they know that much of it is pure invention. The US does not generally support these grifters anyway. I found the Spotify response to them hilarious. Found out !

Joseann Fri 30-Jun-23 19:01:28

Wasn't Scobie the -daft idiot- person who wrote that the Queen's coffin would be travelling the length of the land by the royal train, or was that royal car? It was flown back to London. I think he had to apologise for his mistake. Oops!
