good morning everyone. a bit damp here but sun trying to come through.
does anyone else do the 'pinch punch first day of the month ' anymore or is it only my family
Should we pay kids to go to school?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but clear here in brackley this morning.
Today sees the start on the Tour De France in Bilbao , I will watch the whole race on Eurosport later today .
Still have bowel problems , until things return to normal number 2 wise , its stay in.
Take Care,
Mick
good morning everyone. a bit damp here but sun trying to come through.
does anyone else do the 'pinch punch first day of the month ' anymore or is it only my family
Good morning all from a damp and overcast North Leicestershire.
Not a lot on today. DH is off to the gym and then we will nip over to the pub which has just been taken over. We have high hopes of somewhere else serving good food in the village.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Lemsip, do you remember PRINTMISS. She always did it on the Good Morning thread.
GD did you come across my snippers, secateurs or the ball of string?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds with some rain on its way
Corner a difficult time for you and your DH, sending ❤️
DD2 and family are away this weekend but we need to pop into their house to feed their cat and check all is ok. So I’ll leave DH there for a while and walk down to the shops for a browse. Then probably some gardening later if it stays dry.
gMattie, sorry to hear about your delays yesterday, I hope things improve and you have an enjoyable holiday with your DS
What a gorgeous picturec*ginny*, thanks for sharing - love that sea tractor!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning, Mick, Good morning all, from cloudy rainy North Lanarkshire.
Take it easy Mick, early days. Enjoy your TV cycling and stay in touch with your health care professionals for advice and support.
Grandmattie, may I recommend visiting the Italian Chapel and Skara Brae while you are in Orkney?
Best wishes to all travellers/ family meet ups. We had a very wet Fair Day with DS1 and family yesterday, DGD was a Presentee to the Fair Queen. So glad she enjoyed her day despite the rain.
Thinking of those with worries or illness, take care.
Good morning from a dull Black Country, where it is supposed to be brightening up later.
Walk this morning with a group of friends, with a cafe stop halfway.
No plans for this afternoon, may walk into town for a few bits and bobs.
monk I will renew my licence as I do still drive, albeit not so often now. My senior bus pass is well used
. We are both on each others insurance as it is cheaper, although I have never driven his car!
Wishing you all the best day possible
White rabbits! Good morning on the 1st of July from a sunny again, West Sussex by the sea. Yesterday was grey, windy and occasionally damp. DD1 had come over on her day off so we just chatted at home and then went to the garden centre where she and DH had a roast dinner.
Today we are headed to DD3’s house, just under an hours drive along the coast. She and SiL are going up to London to see Pulp play in Finsbury Park and staying overnight. We are looking after 8 year old and 4 year old DGDs. I am anxious as, though lovely, they can both be challenging in different ways. The 4 year old is a poor sleeper so I am hoping it will be one of her good nights.
Mick, Le Tour is timed perfectly to keep you occupied during your convalescence. I hope your confinement to home will fly past and you will be back to your bus trips, a new man 🙂
Supportive thoughts also to Marydoll, Urms, Kalu and all going through hard times.
Morning all
It’s grey here in S E Essex but not cold. DH wants to go to the big Sainsbury’s this morning, I need to go to the local butchers.
Other than that, nothing planned.
grandMattie for my 60th the children treated DH and I to Dublin for 5 nights, our room overlooked the cemetery. The think they were trying to tell us something 🤣
Have a good day if you can, (((hugs))) if you can’t (pen pal) 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it's 14°C, with rain forecast. We had rain of such biblical proportions yesterday, I thought the conservatory roof would cave in.
Mick, you must be patient and take your time. When you do venture out, you really shouldn't be on your own. I know how wobbly I was after my big op.
I did get my trip to Silverburn yesterday, but as was expected, it took its toll.
I slept for ages when I got back. DH said we must rethink how we do it in future, as I wanted to do too much. Tesco and all the other shops of my choice, are just too much for one visit. Stubborn and independant me knew this..
In the past, I could visit just about every shop in Silverburn and not feel in the least bit tired.
Yesterday, on taking my BP, the results were truly bizarre. After a few attempts and some previous, dodgy readings I realised it was failing, just like me. 😉
I nearly had a heart attack in Boots, when I saw the cost of a replacement one, very similar to the one I have, £99!
Then DH spotted a Boots one at half the price, if you had a Boots card.
On opening it at home, it was exactly the same as the Omron one I have, just made for Boots.
We had a rest in Tim Hortons, where we were given two free coffee mugs, with the silhouette of Glasgow University on them. That was the same view we had, when DH put my engagement ring on my finger after my last French degree exam. 🥰 We were well chuffed.
Late last night, I received a text from my very unpredictable sister in law, asking why she hadn't heard from us, after her brother's death. (He was a very troubled soul,) I informed her, that we had no idea and that I haven't been to church for weeks and seen nor heard from anyone.
When her DH was alive, we spent most our time ferrying him to appointments, taking him to A&E or visiting him in hospital.
When he died, she took the huff, cut us out of her life, after she wanted to take care of me instead, ( because DH wasn't doing a good enough job ), despite me saying I had DH and my family.
Recently, she has been unexpectedly turning up at our children's homes.
She says that she is coming to visit today, I am dreading it. She too is a troubled soul.
Today is a recuperating day, not much planned, apart from watching online Vigil Mass. I'm still having heart episodes and do not want to pass out on live TV. 😉
I love to hear of all the goings on here, its great to read of posters doings.
Have a good day folks and more candles tonight for the poorlies.
For Corner and her family. Trying times. 💐
Oh I now see that Grammaretto does it too, I should have read first.
Morning all from an overcast S Yorks.
Hope you are able to get out soon, Mick.
Very frustrating, Grey! Happens to me all too often. Currently, where on earth have my number 2 specs gone?
Probably the gym, I'd prefer a swim, see how busy the pool is as I do backstroke and it's easy to bump into people.
A difficult visit, Marydoll.
Best for poorlies and gardening and holiday breaks and may family visits go as well as.
GM, my DD and SIL love Orkney and visit frequently. They drive up and a few years ago, their week old car broke down on the ferry! It was a bit of a stressful holiday, especially as it needed fixed on the mainland. The technology was so new, the AA patrolman hadn't a clue!
I hope your holiday improves.
Good morning all from an autumnal Angus coast. Summer is very welcome to make a return any time it likes!
Enjoy your armchair Tour de France Mick. It's so good you have that diversion while you convalesce.
Grandmattie you're tired, no doubt feeling the cold, and on a lump of rock in the middle of an inhospitable sea! But I do hope you enjoy all the archaeology and unspoilt history that is there. It will be fascinating!
Corner so sorry to hear your family news
Dancing GD made it to Dublin yesterday - by the skin of her teeth. What is usually a 50 minute drive from their house to the airport took over two hours due to roadworks and sheer volume of traffic. I can just imagine the panic in that car!!
For myself, I was amused (maybe momentarily a bit daunted) on my leisurely country drive to meet a friend for lunch, to come across a 'Road ahead closed' sign - on my diversion!! I was beginning to wonder where I was going to end up!
I have no idea what I shall do today - I just toddle along taking each day as it comes. Lovely Gardener and his grandson will be here soon, and there's a small wash to go on as there doesn't seem to be rain forecast today (though you'd never know to look at it!). And the ironing pile is teetering and Needs Attending To 😉
Have the best day you can everyone and enjoy each ray of sunshine that comes your way, in whatever form 🌞
Good morning from a grey W Kent. Mick glad you have something good to watch on the tele. LLTF we were in N Wales last week, group party, and visited all the usual castles but the place that won my heart was Gwydir Castle, actually a manor house, really magical.
I think we have decided on a Cook curry today so will pop out to get that.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning from Durham. Breezy, but more blue sky than grey. I’m hoping for a quiet weekend to catch up with a bit of housework - little dog creates so much dust! He’s back here again tomorrow for a few days - it’s sort of never ending, but if it helps……?
Can I urge those GN’s who can drive, but don’t, to get back behind the wheel. It’s use it or lose it and you never know what could happen in the future.
Special thoughts for our unwell and troubled GNs, so often in mind.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from a bright but blustery NE.
Yesterday was a showery day so no garden at all.
At teatime last night I was surprised to see my neighbour pull on to her drive, she has been on holiday in the outer Hebrides and wasn't due home until late tonight. I am hoping all is well with her family as there was a news article about her GS in a national newspaper yesterday.
It really was quite chilly last night, my heating came on which gave me a nice warm bathroom at bedtime and a dry towel.
DS and family coming this afternoon and they will be here until bedtime so busy time.
Thoughts are with poorly people.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning Mick and all from dry, breezy, overcast Anglesey.
What a magnificent 70th birthday cake, I don’t blame the recipient for not wanting to cut in to it.
We’re off to dinner with son number 3 and favourite daughter-in-law, they make a wonderful roast, her cauliflower cheese is the best ever. Looking forward to playing with the children, haven’t seen 9 year old granddaughter since her sports day. She is the least competitive person I know, she comes last in every race and giggles her way through. However her team won the obstacle race, I have never seen a little girl look so surprised. A wonderful moment.
How lovely GGravy that your family booked a hotel in the dead centre of Dublin… or at least overlooking it.
Saturday again already, full English day, 🥂*monk*.
Hope your hotel breakfast makes up for looking at a wall from your room gMattie.
Thoughts as always to those going through the worst of times.
🦩🦩🦩
GrandMattie, we call into the Orkneys on my cruise in a few weeks, and I have booked an excursion to the Stone Age settlement of Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar. Always wanted to visit those.
Cornergran re snow in summer.
I notice that Juliee lives in Siberia. That would explain the snow.
Good morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.
Bet that was an extremely stressful journey Taichinan.
Ginny that sea tractor looks interesting.
A difficult time for you Cornergran.
Yesterday’s outing with the GC was a little challenging as the three year old decided not only to not put on her rain jacket when the heavens opened but also to crouch down on the pavement and refuse to move. I’m unable to lift her and so is DH at the moment. I discovered a small fold up umbrella in my bag and up she got, put on her jacket, held the umbrella over her and off she trotted quite happily. Sigh
I’m planning a day of pottering and tidying and not doing very much at all.
I’m one of those Georgesgran, it’s constantly on my mind but don’t actually do anything about it.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Good morning Mick, Annie and all, from a grey bit of Berks. Mick, heed all the good advice and take things slow and steady.
My energy levels are zero, I expect it was the build up of three days of hospital appointments at the beginning of the week, and then we did a big (ish) shop yesterday.
DS1 is coming on Sunday to sign the updates of our LPA/EPA's?and Health and Welfare papers. DD is on her way home from France, and DS2 , will have to come at another time.
Marydoll, one shop at a time is enough for me now, and the days of a whole day shopping is long gone. I do hope that your
SIL is not too much of a pain when she visits. Hang in there!
BlueSapphire, your meals sounded very like ours. After the shop, our supper was Spicy chicken, in the Air Fryer. It was lovely, but I doubt I could replicate it, as it was very much made upon the go. We also have a small piece of gammon to cook for tonight, and it's lovely to have cold later on.
Hope you find your mug Grey. Have you tried a prayer to the Keeper of Lost Things?
GrandMattie, after the delays and disappointment with your room, I hope you do enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Have a good day one and all.
We’re the opposite to GM! A beautiful holiday house but so grey and damp outside. I even wrote a poem about it
Good morning everyone from very windy and cloudy Lancashire.
Things will settle in their own good time Mick, enjoy the cycling today.
Yesterday was constant rain and I didn’t do very much. I went to the hairdresser, so am feeling glam today
. I have laundry to do today and it should dry well in this wind, as long as the rain stays away.
Enjoy your holiday Lady LFL, I hope you get a few sunny days as Wales is indeed a beautiful country. My 2x great grandfather came from Cefn Mawr.
Glad you’re feeding better Oops, hope your DH recovers quickly. That’s an absolutely lush cake Grandmabatty, hope your recent stomach problems are gone now.
Many of us seem to be reaching the age of driving licence renewal at the moment. I too have received a form. I haven’t driven on a public road since my brain injury, I did a test 6 months later and was told I could keep my licence. I won’t be renewing though, especially given my recent eye problems. I only kept it as it’s a useful form of photo ID. My disabled bus pass fulfils that function now!
I hope Orkney brightens up for you Grandmattie after such a nightmare journey.
Your town sounds very interesting Juliee, do you teach languages? I have a friend who owns a language school in Spain, she teaches English to Spanish students. Despite Brexit it seems many of them still hope to spend a year working in the UK.
You really need a rest day Marydoll after your Silverburn trip. Hope the threatened visit isn’t too awful.
I hope the unexpected diversion didn’t affect your pleasant drive Taichinan and you enjoyed your meet up.
Thinking of Kalu, Urms and all who are dealing with illness right now.
Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻
