Callistemon21 Sun 02-Jul-23 21:09:19

Wasn't she a model, Paula? ** I think

paddyann54 Sun 02-Jul-23 21:25:08

NotAGran55 Sun 02-Jul-23 21:31:42

It was Paula Hamilton and the music was Changes by Alan Price.

NotAGran55 Sun 02-Jul-23 21:44:17

Grannmarie Sun 02-Jul-23 21:45:18

I loved the For mash get Smash advert with the wee aliens!

Grannmarie Sun 02-Jul-23 21:46:02

Also, ghe sexy couple in the Cointreau ad, The ice melts.

sodapop Sun 02-Jul-23 21:48:04

Thanks GrannyPiper such a cute dog in the ad.

Callistemon21 Sun 02-Jul-23 21:49:32

Joan Collins and Leonard Rossiter in the Cinzano advert on the plane.
Priceless 😁

Granmarderby10 Sun 02-Jul-23 22:06:12

Milk Tray, Hamlet Cigars, Old Spice, Harvey’s Bristol Cream sherry, Flake,…. all things bad or macho
Sunsilk Shampoo, Harmony Hairspray, Flash Powder with the Scottish woman. Dreft and Luxe soap flakes…. mainly quite sexist…
Coca Cola with The New Seakers, Homepride Flour, …..naive and amusing
But all very memorable
I barely watch any commercials on tv now and there are few that stick in the mind. Most are utterly tedious and condescending.

Does anyone else remember the cute Premium Tea ad from the early 60s with Primo, the comic cartoon bear?

Dum dum dum te-dum, te-dum dum dum....Gives you a sparkle. Premium Tea"

Oh, help! It was an ear-worm then and it's an ear-worm now I've thought of it again.

Scribbles Sun 02-Jul-23 22:23:08

Oh, and I loved the Peugeot 405 ads featuring "Take my Breath Away." The only car ads that have ever come close to making me want the product!

Casdon Sun 02-Jul-23 22:23:22

A Finger of Fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat - still sing it to myself every time I see one.

Esmay Sun 02-Jul-23 22:29:21

I like all those mentioned and my favourite recent one is for J.P.Bell - it's the music that appeals to me .

I like the ads for Lloyd's bank as beautiful black horses are featured .

Do you remember the one for Birds Eye Chicken Pie in which the lady pretends that she made it herself ?

Georgesgran Sun 02-Jul-23 22:35:16

Not a tv ad, but years ago, I was in a cafe reading a newspaper and when I turned the page, it was an ad and picture of the new Jaguar Xf type - the punchline was ‘cat got your tongue’. Well, it got mine and I was lucky enough to get the car (I called it Kitty) a few years later.

Georgesgran Sun 02-Jul-23 22:36:58

Another clever one that tickled me was on a billboard. It was for Barclays Bank - the loan arranger. How do they think up these punchlines?

NotSpaghetti Sun 02-Jul-23 23:07:26

And here is the Levis advert:

I can honestly say I don't remember many of the other adverts mentioned by others - I suppose some do just stick though..
I remember this Levis one though - and the Yellow Pages one and Smash.
I liked all these.

NotSpaghetti Sun 02-Jul-23 23:29:25

I think there were several quite good Levis adverts actually

One where a couple broke down and the car was towed by the Levis guy - and one involving a fridge.
Probably more..

GrandmaSeaDragon Sun 02-Jul-23 23:36:53

The OXO ads with Lynda Bellingham and British Telecom with Maureen Lipman and her “……ologies”!

Lilypops Sun 02-Jul-23 23:54:21

Any of the Specsavers ads. The vet trying to treat a cat, turns out it was the nurses fur hat , And the Astronauts arriving at the airport luggage carousel. ,, Always make me smile

Calendargirl Mon 03-Jul-23 06:51:31

I agree the Lloyds Bank black horses are beautiful, and I know the Lloyds symbol is the sign of the black horse, but the accompanying voice overs to the ads are just meaningless drivel. Nothing to do with the products and as for ‘always there for you’…tell that to customers whose branches have closed.

This my all time favourite - The AA dog: www.google.com/search?q=AA+dogad&rlz=1C5CHFA_enGB790GB790&oq=AA+dogad&aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160l3.5299j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:6bcdcfea,vid:_kq327Uw41E I found it on line so I can watch it at will and then found a video of how it was made.......and watch that too! Love it!
