Good Morning Monday 3rd July 2023

Good morning from a fine Torbay with wind expected later.

An excellent journey home yesterday took less than an hour. Luckily, it’s dual carriageway throughout. (A30, A38 then A380) A lovely surprise awaited me: a kindhearted neighbour offered me a plated roast chicken dinner. My very own Meals on Wheels from just across the hallway! Despite my request for a small helping, the plate came fully laden, including three vegetables, roast potatoes, stuffing balls, Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets! I am blessed with good neighbours of various ages, all of whom are at work during the day, being younger than me!

A busy day ahead with my usual exercise class and a rehearsal this evening. This morning, I have an appointment with a counsellor as I don’t feel that I've recovered my emotional and mental health since my heart surgery last Autumn. The circumstances of my discharge from hospital still haunt me at times.

Please take care about lifting things, Mick; it’s good to hear that your system is settling. I hope today begins a good week for everyone. 🦩💐😎🥰🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from Insomnia Towers South Yorkshire where we have a brightish start to the day but it’s not set to last. Mick I’m glad you seem to be feeling better today. Yesterday started out quite well and just got worse and I had so much stuff going round in my head that I slept very badly, so a day at home today. I have drawers that need tidying and paperwork to sort out so that will keep me busy.

Good morning from Kirkwall. It is still grey but marginally less windy and not raining. Yet.
Oh. Ash, what a shame the success of your operation has been marred by your traumatic discharge. I hood you can overcome it soon.
Yesterday’s weather was horrible, cold windy and very wet. We mostly pootled about in the car. We went south and east as the annual marathon was taking place (poor, poor runners) in the north and west of Mainland.
The Churchill barriers are most interesting, there was an exhibition in S Ronaldsay in the fossil museum. Also an explanation of the events in both WWs at Scapa Flow.
Various other places visited including the gloop (or gloop) which amused the girls no end 😂
Ring of Brodgar today and other stuff today, including returning one car and collecting another!

Greyduster I'm also sorry to hear that you had a bad night. Mick it's good to hear that you are improving.
Yesterday I got some stuff from Tesco that I had forgotten to order then I did a dry run to the soft play I'm taking the boys to today. Dd nipped in for a visit with the boys. Dgs1 was so pleased I had a watermelon. He loves it.
Today is a childcare day. Because I have them both all day, I've booked a slot at a soft play. I would rather stick pins in my eyes but dgs1 in particular will enjoy it. It'll pass a couple of hours and hopefully tire them out.
Later I'll visit mum then collapse in a heap on the couch. Have a good day all

Good morning all.

Had a lovely weekend in Reading and then Newbury. Visited DD1 & family first. We went out for an Indian meal at her most fabulous one in Twyford. We never have them as there are no decent ones around here at all. Then we spent yesterday with DS & family and ate home made pizzas cooked in his outdoor pizza oven. Was so full of food when we got home I said I’m never eating again. DH who is not a dog fan is completely smitten with their year old golden doodle. She is simply lovely and very well trained.

Today is school pickup and early dinner for DGD3. It will either be cheesy pasta as she calls macaroni cheese or quiche which is pretty much all she eats apart from fruit and then DGS2 all day tomorrow.

Yesterday we enjoyed a visit to Shaldon as Teignbridge was Chock a block.

Today we are celebrating two wedding anniversaries . Our 47th and one pair of our friends 51st. So we will be having afternoon tea at a local hotel with views over Brixham.

ginny: Shaldon is an interesting village - quirkily traditional! I sometimes go through it on the 22 bus to Teignmouth. Are you using the buses during your stay? We are lucky to have a good service from Stagecoach throughout Torbay and beyond, especially the 12 from Brixham to Newton Abbot.

Good morning from a sunny cooler very pleasant South Downs .

Housework today and washing the bedding. Rain forecast tomorrow so will potter in the garden later. Must cut a couple of cauliflowers that are ready. They keep ages in the fridge. Also the French beans and sweet peas need keeping up with the picking. I need to keep on top of it as going away for another week on Friday. DH is fitting up the watering system.

Glad to hear your are improving Mick, but be careful lifting anything.

Ash, I received cardiac psychologic counselling after my first heart attack a few years ago. It is routinely offered here after a major cardiology event.
Initially I refused it, then realised I actually did need it. Like any other major health episode, it takes its toll on your mental and emotional wellbeing. I had bluntly been told by my cardiologist that nothing could be done for me and my RA was killing me, he then walked away, without another word. No wonder I needed support.
I hope you find some benefit from it, it did help me enormously.
Mine was stopped abruptly, when I was shielding, due to the psychologists being deployed to support NHS Covid staff.

I did hardly anything yesterday, but did try to cull some of my shoe collection, all to no avail.🤒 I had to do it in stages.
Despite knowing I should get rid of some, I can't. I used to pick up beautiful shoes every time I went abroad on holiday and match to my work outfits. My pupils used to wait in anticipation to see what colour I was wearing that day. 😉
There is no longer any need for that, when you live in sports clothing! 😁
DS informed me last night, that Dollie bought her first handbag on holiday, she is definitely my girl. 🥰
However, I did find my missing black sandals, which I thought I had bought last year, but then decided I hadn't,
My brain is turning to mush. ( lack of social interaction) I stood in front of my sewing machine for five minutes yesterday, but couldn't for the life of me remember how to replace the broken needle. I have totally lost the plot.

I have an empty, DH is golfing, but I won't be doing much, any exertion results in dizziness. My greatest exertion will be to think of whats for dinner! 😁

DH is going to the gym this morning while I tackle the ironing and the gardener's father is coming to look at fitting the water feature for us.

Good morning from south Gloucestershire, it’s a bright start here but hopefully the rain forecasted will materialise later!
Yesterday the early dog walk was so lovely, across a field then through growing wheat that rippled like waves in the breeze. I watched a deer with twin fawns for a while, such a beautiful sight, so dainty and delicate looking.
The rest of the day was spent doing various bits and pieces including learning about my new camera. I have never had a good camera so lots to learn!
Today, apart from dog walking, I will do some planting before it rains and set up my watercolour palette that I started yesterday.
More knitting later while watching the TdeF, I think it’s a mountain stage today (I watch it mainly for the scenery, sorry Mick!).

Good morning all and it’s a lovely sunny start with a chilly breeze here in Suffolk.

DS2 and family left after lunch yesterday. We had a lovely couple of days with them. They have such busy lives so I dont know when we’ll see them again, but hopefully not too long.

Today we’ll walk the dog in the forest and potter in the garden.
DS and Dh did some much needed strimming but more needed down the steps which will be redone when our man has recovered from his injury.

The cooker man came in Friday and will phone today with prices for parts. We don’t have much faith in him - he’s a young chap , very full of himself but I’m worried he’s going to break the oven door and ruin the floor as he pulls it out. It’s a very tight fit! Dh feels the same. I think I might say well leave it!

Good morning and a chillier start and a cooler but nice bright day in s somerset

Yesterday was a nothing day, not satisfying, nothing achieved having wasted a lot of time on fixing something from ebay that I discovered was a fake, so I will set up a complaint via paypal in a few days, unless the seller refunds me. It did take the shine off the day as I spent a good few hours out of the rest of my life. Luckily nothing days don`t happen very often

Today I have a craft group gathering in a hall, making some new friends. I do find it harder these days, to make friends, as we are all starting late in life.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, but showers are forecast this afternoon. So I shall get the towels out on the line before I go to yoga.

I very much enjoyed the film of Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty ballet yesterday, and was in tears by the time it finished.... So beautiful and moving. It had a Gothic theme, and the dancing, story-telling and acting were just amazing.

No plans for after lunch today, probably carry on with my book. Lamb chops and roast potatoes for dinner tonight, possibly a Yorkshire pudding as well. I enjoyed my home-cooked ham, egg and chips last night. More of the ham for a sandwich at lunchtime today.

DH has an appointment for wax removal following on from his hearing test last week then another hearing test in a fortnight.
If it stays dry will spend some time in the garden I've noticed a few weeds and some dead heading needs doing.

Good morning from a cool, windy Durham. Spent yesterday with DGS2 - he was quite excited when the GNAA landed on a roundabout beside the park. I haven’t seen any details of the accident, so hope no-one was badly hurt. 17 police cars, 2 ambulances and a fire engine were also in attendance!
Coffee this morning with a friend, then check on another friend’s house, while she’s away. Bit of shopping, DD2’s laundry, then walk her little dog later is the sum total of my day.

Good morning from a bright, breezy Cornwall. An unexpected jaunt out with my youngest son and his 13-year-old lad yesterday. That son takes spontaneity to a new level and is always fun. Must get to my allotment today. Have a post-angioplasty physio phone call booked for 11am but that can be received sitting by my pond. I'm interested to hear what I can do to keep more agile while I'm on crutches. Ash, I can't remember what you went through but I do hope the counselling helps you.
