Good Morning Monday 3rd July 2023

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another breezy day with sunshine.

Yesterday I luckily had made enough soup, rolls and apple pie to feed the 5000 family who arrived starving at 2pm.

The girls harvested most of the rhubarb. It's supposed to be lifted before July. I then drove them to the airport and waited at home anxiously until I had a message that they had arrived safely in Denmark but had a 3 hour drive ahead in the hire car.

My DBiL and a df visited as well plus a movie at our community cinema last night.
Today will be quieter and I'll maybe watch the tennis

Good morning from a breezy looking Suffolk. A friend of mine who has raised funds for a local branch of the NSPCC has invited me to their AGM this evening which is being held in Somerleyton hall with drinks and nibbles.

The venue is definitely one up from ones we used for such get togethers when I was involved with Relate many years ago.

The usual household jobs to be done before that including our dog walk along the fields. The barley looks ready for harvesting in the next few days and I hope the weather continues to be dry til then. Although the gardens really be some rain,the farmers round here hate having to dry their cereal crops when harvested and will do so even more now with the cost of energy.

Thinking of those with other worries than just those of the cost of living.

Yesterday we had a lovely afternoon going round lovely open gardens in the Avenue’s part of the city. The houses are large and terraced so the gardens were thin long and very interesting. I loved how most gardens had kept wild meadow areas to attract wildlife. So many nook and crannies and surprises around every corner. I met a lovely Gransnetter and we introduced ourselves.

Later I have my zoom yoga and picking up grandson from school this afternoon.

Mizuna: I appreciate your concern and that of others. I don’t think I shared it on here, only by private messages. A night nurse and I fell out on my first night on the ward after being in ICU for 24 hours. From then on she took to bullying me, psychologically, not physically. On the two nights when she wasn’t on duty I was fine. Matters came to a head in the middle of the fifth night. I discharged myself in the early hours and DH fetched me by taxi (he’d been drinking in the evening) at a cost of £220 (inc. tip) for the round trip from Torquay to Plymouth. This same nurse rang my DD2 who’s in Crewe and told her I would die if I went home! Yes, really!
Next day, I went to Torbay Hospital where the staff couldn’t have been kinder and sorted out my medication requirements. Sorting out my head is taking longer!

Good morning all from cloudy and cool South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s weather was hideous, as wet and windy as an autumn day. Typical school holiday weather, my poor SiL is going stir crazy with all the children in the house.

Ash, I hope you feel the benefit of the counselling session. I do empathise, I still have flashbacks to the traumatic experience of my sudden illness last year.

Work today, though if the weather doesn’t improve I can’t see it being a busy one.

Morning from S Lanarkshire, seems bright but not a great forecast for the day. I hope it stays reasonably dry because I have (unexpectedly) DGS from lunchtime till tomorrow and he’s a boy who needs action.

Yesterday was interesting and enjoyable. I was invited to go to a Pentecostalist meeting at which a young couple who work with the people in Tondo in Manila were going to speak. I met them just before Covid and have been doing what I can for them ever since. They are amazing and an inspiration.
I also loved the singing at the meeting, especially one called We
Believe, definitely livelier than I am used to!

I’m glad things seem to be improving a little for you Mick.

You’ve been a bit unfortunate with the weather grandMattie but it must be nice having your son to yourself for a while.

I hope the counselling session goes well Ashcombe, you are always so positive, I didn’t realise you were dealing with continuing challenges from your surgery.

Oh Ash, how awful! Thank you so much for sharing. Psychological bullying does go deep, I know from personal experience.

Good morning from Essex by the sea. The sun is shining but not as warm as of late.
DH has been at the surgery since 7.45 to get an appointment. He is first in so decided to wait and not come home first. I hope this doctor can throw some light on his problem.
I have washing and housework this morning and a visit to the pharmacy. Two of my tablets are not on my repeat prescription form and I have run out. I keep asking for them to be added but this seems to fall on deaf ears.

Sar, could it be that your medication is on your acute list and that you need to make a special request. .

I have repeats that cannot be added to my repeat list, because they must be reviewed every so often by GP and blood tests are required to monitor their effects.
It may be worth asking Why they cannot be added.

Bright here at the moment, but rain forecast for later. I’m glad I got the bedding washed and dried yesterday.
Pleased to hear you’re feeling better today, mick. I echo the concerns of others though, and be careful with any lifting - wet washing can be quite heavy.
Ash that was a terrible experience in hospital last year (and yours from the consultant,*marydoll*). I do hope your counselling will help today.
Not a lot planned today, coffee group this am and that’s about it, I think.
Anyway, I hope today is a good day for you all 🤞.

When my DD was In hospital, she reported a nurse for bullying, not her, but elderly patients who were scared to speak up. They didn’t see her again!

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle where I believe it will be as yesterday, showery. I do hope the wind won't return, it's been very windy.
I was out in the garden yesterday, putting in some more lavender and re-arranging others I'd decided were unsuitable in their original position. Worked through brief showers and got in just before a downpour. The afternoon was spent reading mostly.
Today is housework and laundry day and I must get to grips with some important admin.

What a nasty experience Ashcombe. Sometimes the NHS lets you down unbelievably badly as I know from my own experience. I hope the counselling helps.

I've got a routine (hopefully) EGC then may go to the gym. I do a lot less due to back stuff but good to keep a bit up.

Magic news was that my lost number 2 pair specs turned up in the bottom of something I'd dropped something else. The offending collecting item has been moved.

Good morning from a windy but dry NE. The heating was on when I woke so obviously cooler.
Been quite an emotional weekend, it was the anniversary of DH and I meeting on a blind date, sixty years ago. DD sent beautiful flowers.
SIL and I spent the afternoon looking at photographs and watching videos of GD's music concert where she sang a song from Hamilton.
DD was driving from Brussels to Amsterdam for work, SIL hadn't heard from her before he left mine, hoping it wasn't a difficult journey.
I understand how you could be traumatised by your treatment in hospital Ashcombe, I had nightmares for a long time after my hospital stay.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning from a sunny but breezy Oxfordshire. MrOops still has the flu, it’s been 5 days now and I’m not sure what’s going on, I might have to consult Dr.Google and see if I should be concerned, his chest is fine though so I guess it’s all ok.
I’m late up this morning as he can’t sleep so I stayed up until 3am to keep him company, he is sleeping now though.
So yet another week of sitting down, I need to start to sort the house out as it looks as though we will be moving, so much family ‘stuff’ going on though it’s hard to sort out which one to worry about the most!
Hope anyone under stress has someone to lean on, hoping all those poorly Grans start to feel better soon, have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire where it is raining heavily.

Yesterday was very windy but no rain so I was able to finish the laundry. It was quite a chilly day and we had a hearty dinner of haggis with mashed potato, neeps, carrots and gravy. Today I will change the bedding and wash it. This gives me plenty of exercise, especially changing the duvet cover!

Ash what an absolutely dreadful experience and no wonder you feel the need for counselling! I do hope that "nurse" is no longer in nursing, and you feel the benefit of your counselling.
This weather we are having seems to be countrywide - sunshine, showers and wind. My weather app is calling it a 'moderate breeze', but I would beg to differ! However it will be good for getting the washing dried.
Dancing GD loved Dublin, but her dance not so much as she hurt her ankle just before going on stage and had to dance through the pain - like a true professional. I hope it heals quickly, as she has a show in Glasgow in ten days' time, then one in Newcastle followed by three performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - then straight back into her degree year at College. Oh to be young again and have all that energy!
Now off I go to brave the Force Ten gale moderate breeze to hang the washing out.

I’m so sorry to hear of your bad experiences Ash, awful when you are at your most vulnerable. I’ve had bad treatment myself, it’s no joke and I heard an elderly fellow patient being bullied.
My DS and GF are coming over to swap cars for our trip south to join DD for our flight to France on Friday.. My diddy car can’t take three adults and luggage…
Getting away is rather a bother. I enjoy my day coach trips as I don’t have to worry about insurance, passports etc etc.

Don’t overdo it Mick, thoughts to Kalu and Urms and all with worries. Will read through properly later.

Good morning from, as everywhere, breezy West Sussex. I am recovering from our childcare session which went well - we all had a fun afternoon at the park where there was a travelling fair. Eight year old was desperate to try candy floss so we bought a ‘small’ tub. Next year she wants the large tub! Four year old had a watermelon flavoured lollipop which she sucked off and on for the rest of the day. We did very thorough teeth brushing before bed. Sunday morning was the school fayre with a comedy show from a local company. Grandpa got roped in to firing a water pistol at one of the characters. He played his part with enthusiasm. Both GDs were thoroughly engaged for the hour long performance; older one was falling off her chair laughing - she is a very self-contained child so it was good to see her letting go.

I think my exhaustion is from the feeling of responsibility which weighs on me much more in my later years. Mind you, I did quite a bit of kitchen clearing and gardening while we were there 🙂

Anyway, I have washing on and rhubarb chutney to boil up so better be off.
