After yesterday’s trip to the speed awareness course I now have a day with GD2 to look forward to. She likes to shop so I guess I will be seeing a lot of the inside of Primark.
The course was interesting and informative, I don’t know why but the idea that it takes 24 car lengths to stop at 80 miles an hour sounded horrific but of course no one should be doing 80!! I was bamboozled by all the numbers not my strong point.
DD1’s MIL in hospital waiting for an op to pin her hip so, everyone is worried as she is in her late 80’s.

Good morning all and it’s a bit sunny and a bit overcast here at the seaside in Suffolk.
Yesterday we had some short downpours in the afternoon, so we watched Wimbledon and read our books in the summerhouse. Very cosy - I love listening to the rain with classic fm on.

We didn’t walk in the forest yesterday as we did the big loop along the beach , into the countryside and back home. Today will be the forest walk. Dh is doing ok with the walking but can be slow.

Today our friends are arriving in their lodge , just up the beach from here and bringing my old neighbour/friend for a few days. They’ll come up for a cuppa some time.

GG I hardly iron at all these days. I used to spend hours at the board but it only comes out very occasionally now. When we next meet up, you’ll be looking me up and down thinking ‘has she ironed that’? 😂🤣

I hope all the poorlies are feeling better and the worried or just ‘fed up’ grans can see a glimmer of light 🙏.

Today is Tai chi again after which I hope I'll not be too exhausted to watch Andy Murray's match at Wimbledon - I would hate to wake up just as it finishes!

Good morning from S Lanarkshire and an earlier start than usual for me. 8 year old DGS couried in and slept well so a reasonable start to the day. Good fun yesterday afternoon following a ‘Dinosaur Trail’ set up in our town for the summer.
Map provided and a badge awarded on completion, nice way to pass a couple of hours.

Going to join his sister who stayed with DD4 yesterday and we’ll all do something together, a good start to the holidays. Mum and dad are collecting both DGC on Thursday on their way to Spain in their camper van. I remember loving similar trips when all my DC were young but the very idea of it now makes me feel weak😂

I do hope things improve for you Mick, and that some medical support has been put in place.

Will now organise breakfast (porridge and pancakes) and read all posts later, wishing everyone a good day.

Morning all from North Wales. We had an interesting trip on a steam train yesterday to the hills above Aberystwyth. £32 each though, for an hour there and an hour back! I pay £26 return Oxford to Paddington using my senior rail card and have a comfy seat. Oh well. We are eating lunch out today and then visiting a bee farm. As you know OH is a beekeeper so is looking forward to seeing how others fare. Have a good day. Thinking of Mick (ring your doctor) and Urms.

Ladyleftfieldlover, we love those steam train excursions.
I believe they are so expensive, because the heritage railways are all run by volunteers with no public funding and need every penny they can get.

Our best trips were on the Flying Scotsman round the Forth Circle, they were eye wateringly expensive, but worth every penny.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey cool Carlisle. Looks like yet another day of wind and showers with an occasional sunny spell. Enoughs enough now! I have to say it's fairly typical of the weather hereabouts, the driest sunnier weather tends to be April through to mid June.

You're having a tedious time Mick and I'm going to be yet another Gran urging you to consult the professionals if you feel the need.

Today, I hope to finish off any major housework and then devote myself to more interesting things. I'm also telling myself to get out of the house and go somewhere! If it was sunny, I would but don't fancy the outside when it's grey and windy. That applies to the gardening too. I've got a very narrow range of happy operating temperatures, I stay in when it's too hot as well.

grandMattie I also could hardly believe it's been a year since your DH died. I'm glad you've been able to enjoy the company of your DS over the anniversary and on a joint holiday too.

Had a lazy day yesterday, watched a whole TV series back to back in between lunch and dinner.

Mick, have you referred to the literature they give you at the hospital ? It usually suggests what you can and can't eat. I am assuming you had an end to end anastomosis as you have not mentioned a stoma. This would mean that your bowel will be vulnerable and your diet should be tailored accordingly.
Raw fruit and vegetable fibre can be a tad harsh and spicy food is not good.
I usually have some plain rice or noodles under these circumstances.

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is trying to shine. I believe we are expecting rain later.
I managed to speak to the surgery yesterday and a new prescription has been sent to our local pharmacy, what a faff.
I'm worrying a little about DH, he has been referred to a Rheumatologist about his ongoing joint pains. They are getting worse but blood tests and x-rays are not showing up that anything is wrong. He has a telephone appointment with the triage team at the local hospital next Tuesday, the same time that he is at a different hospital to see the Dermatologist. This is a follow up appointment re the two BCC that should have been removed but haven't been yet. You couldn't make it up.
Thinking of you today GM, I'm glad you are with your son.

The frustration of having to keep logging in means I am late this morning. Grey and damp so the bedding in the machine will have to be dried indoors, the first time for weeks. Supermarket visit the highlight of the day but after several busy days and evenings out I am not sorry to be able to watch the tennis this afternoon - weather permitting of course.

Thoughts are with gMattie; I am interested to read from several others that the second year of widowhood is harder than the first for so many reasons, something which has somehow surprised me. Hope Mick can talk to somebody about his progress, if only for reassurance.

Sar53, Initially my bloods showed seronegative for RA, despite having it. I had all the symptoms, but the tests weren't showing anything up initially. It is a long process. I'm sure you will get there eventually.

Rheumatologists takes lots of other things into consideration, before diagnosing.

I did a half decent gym yesterday, only to twig back again badly at home, so that was lying down for the rest of the day. Hopefully manage the supermarket today, the fridge and freezer in need.

Definitely seek advice, but Mick and my thoughts with you GM. what a year you've had! Pretty non stop.

Yesterday I managed to change the bedding. Most of it is now washed, dried and ready to put away, one more wash load to do this morning. Vacuuming today and sorting through the contents of a small cupboard.

Sorry you had a poor night Mick, hope today is better. I would seek medical advice to ensure everything is okay.

Well, I am later this morning, having slept in till 8.30am, so will wish everyone a very good day. Cloudy here in Northampton and rain forecast this afternoon, so I am not sure whether to do my usual health walk. Shall wait till nearer the time.

Really suffered with my hay fever yesterday, sore, burning and watering eyes for most of the day; I have been taking the Fexofenadine for three weeks now and it is having no effect whatsoever. Similarly the hay fever eye drops. Sometimes I think I'll just stay in for the day and not take the chance.... Funnily enough the two days I spent out on garden trips last week I didn't suffer at all, and was completely ok. I can never tell until I actually venture out and then I know within a minute or so.

GrannyGravy and grandMattie, I cannot remember the last time I ironed bedding! Though the iron did come out last week to do summer dresses which I had washed and were a bit crumpled around the pockets, but that was an annual appearance!

Not showered yet, so that's my next job, then a coffee and early lunch. Must fix a vertical blind which one of the cats got tangled.in last night. Spaghetti or penne Amatriciana for dinner tonight, an easy meal.

Car swap yesterday for trip to the south with luggage on Friday. I emptied mine, in which I keep so much clutter I believe I need…
DS fixed my specs, he’s very handy, then used the borrowed car to get home so I’m without a car. I’m not using it as it’s manual and mine is automatic. I think I’ve lost the knack for a manual car. Bus today to music club. I’m not on the desk so it’s an easier day.
Not nice for you Mick to be still suffering in this way. Hope you can get it sorted.
