I will go first let me know if you think it’s true or false and come up with your own lie/truth.

Here goes….

My mother had an affair with a Rolling Stone in 1961.

I know someone who had twins twice. Roger Federer's who also managed this so I believe it to be true!

And yes, I did indeed tread on poor Sammy's toe in the lift. I wasn't even aware of it, (platform shoes), then a voice boomed out you're standing on my toe and my sister elbowed me out of the way

I’m afraid it’s true, a car had run over its back legs outside my gate. The poor thing was still alive with its whole back end flattened to the tarmac, the mattock was the only thing I had to hand to end its agony.
I did feel sick and had a few bad dreams afterwards as even without the head the body twitched for quite a while, horrible.

Same sort of event happened to me. We drove past a rabbit that was in the same condition as yours so my husband turned the car round and drove over the poor thing to put it out of its misery. The thought still upsets me many years later.

An apt one as it's British Grand Prix weekend: I used to work as a welder for McLaren.

Lie

You are right.
I have never worked for McLaren, but I did once work briefly as a welder (of pvc-type fabrics) for MacLaren, the buggy manufacturer. There's only a one-letter difference 😁

It was a lie!
I only had twins once but one DD has twins ( does that count?)😄

I once sold the same piano to three different people

Somehow, Oreo I believe you : it's too mad not to be true.

LauraNorderr Sun 16-Jul-23 20:45:43

I think I believe you oreo, can’t wait for the explanation. Did you keep buying it back? Or did the buyers keep bringing it back because the c was flat?
You did suck me on the twins fib, very convincing.

Haha, yes it’s true.
What happened was this, I was newly working in a music store and a customer came in and asked to see and play on one of the pianos. So he sat down and played a bit then said he would take it ( it was the cheapest piano in the store.)He paid a deposit and left his details, which I’d been told was the thing to do, and asked how long delivery would be and when he should pay the final part of the bill.I didn’t know but thought it may be a few weeks. Another customer, a woman with a child, came in later that day and was also interested in the piano, I was mentally rubbing my hands together at the thought of a second big sale, as up to then I’d only sold a flute and some sheet music. Anyway, she did decide to buy it, and as before, left details and a deposit and I said we would be in touch about delivery and so on.
There was a sale in the store, so we were pretty busy all day, it was a Saturday, and about 4pm a Mum and Dad and teenager were asking me about the piano and I said have a play, it’s a lovely tone and all that sales patter stuff, we can order you one, it’s very popular😁 none of them could play, but the young teenage girl was going to have lessons. The upshot was they left a deposit and details.I was so pleased with myself.
On the Monday I told the owner, who never worked weekends apparently, about my sales on the Sat, and he went ballistic.
Turned out that particular model was low priced as it was the last of an old order it could be sold but we couldn’t get new ones in exactly the same or at that price.Ouch! So only one customer could have it.He had to make some very apologetic phone calls and blamed it on the new girl, me.
This was a lot of years ago and it was an old fashioned kind of shop, this wouldn’t be able to happen now.😂
