Good Morning Saturday 8th July

Good morning from a fine start in Rugeley but with a warning for thunderstorms. I’m staying in Travelodge as my DS can’t accommodate visitors.

Yesterday, my journey went well (thank you for the good wishes) and I was lucky that DS was free to meet me at the station, where my Cross Country train was only about 12 minutes late arriving which isn’t bad in a journey taking nearly four hours. The staff were most kind and I was given help with my case at both ends of the trip. The train was crowded, with Friday being a popular changeover (predictive text preferred “hangover”!) day for holidaymakers.

I hope Dollie's earache has eased, Marydoll; such a horrid pain.
I think we are all looking forward to seeing a photo of glamorous GrannyGravy13 and hope you had a wonderful evening.

How super that your DS1 developed a love of musical theatre as a result of school experiences, Gala! As you say, a lifelong hobby that keeps participants usefully occupied. I bet you felt proud of your GD, harrigran. An ambitious production for a school!

Good morning from a grey, sticky Bristol (or “bristle” as the predictive text insists daily).
I slept like a log last night, which is very unusual for me. So I’m raring to go.
My financial advisor called off at the last minute yesterday, which meant that DS and the girls came a bit earlier. A foray to IKEA; I had wanted blinds but they were the wrong size. I didn’t take the assistant’s advice to cut 12 cm off each blind…. I shall order them online from a company I used in Sandwich. DS got the storage boxes he needed.
Indifferent lunch from the Swedes. I don’t know why people rave about the food there.
In the afternoon, I joined one of the inmates in the sun, we were the joined by another three and had a good chinwag.
Today, church coffee morning, then late coffee with my upstairs neighbour. Free afternoon.
Marydoll and her precious Dollie, Urms and the many others in distress remain in my heart.

Good morning from a wet Down South.
The grass hasnt quite recovered yet from all the dry weather, but it is slowly doing so.
The weather is slightly irritating me lately. I can go from cold to hot to cold to hot all in one day, or sometimes, even just all in the same morning.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is up but it’s not going to last. We are in for some wild weather and a lot of rain if the forecast is to believed. DD came over and stayed last night. We will get a few jobs done outside today - I need to move some pots around the garden - and then if the weather breaks, we’ll look at tackling the garage, which is a mess. Or we may just say to hell with it, put our feet up and drink tea!

I’ve just got the washing in that dried overnight and it’s looking like we’re getting some more rain, hooray!
Yesterday I met my oldest friend, with he daughter and granddaughters who have come over from America for the funeral. A very poignant meeting but full of laughter too.
Today I don’t have much planned, I must clear the ironing and have a good tidy up.

Yesterday was a scorcher but surprisingly my hay fever was much better than it is at home. I wonder if it’s a different type of pollen here
I had a quiet morning but busy afternoon looking after the DGSs. You’re so right Ash they are lucky I’m able to travel to look after them but I’m happy that I’m asked and trusted too.
Today there’s swimming lessons this morning and then we’ll probably be going out to a park somewhere this afternoon

Good morning from North Leicestershire where the sky is an ominous mix of bright sun and very dark clouds. There were some very bug spots of rain on the roof of our glass corridor when I got up.

This morning, I must make a quick dash to Tesco before we go and finally sign off the kitchen plans.

Travelling Greek Taverna for tea. It will be the first time we have tried this particular 'food van' which parks at the cricket ground in the next village, but we have heard good reports.

Good morning from a currently dull but very warm Sefton. Rain & thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon. Oh joy! Just what we don't need as DH's sister & her husband are over & we all hoped to spend the afternoon with DS1 & family in their garden. Out for lunch at a local hostelry first. They are super considerate guests as they always stay in a local Travelodge. A lovely family meal out in an Italian restaurant yesterday evening. It was an early meal to accommodate our 2 little granddaughters. There were 10 of us, almost my entire immediate family bar one. Our niece rarely makes family gatherings as she works in the theatre. Her working "day" starts as everyone else's finishes. She has a very "upside down" life. We had a successful sleepover with GD1... apart from the 6.30 start. She was safely delivered to school & mum & dad arrived back from London in time to pick her up & join us for an early tea. It's good when plans pan out as planned & life (or working to rule train drivers) doesn't get in the way.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; thunderstorms forecast, but that is not going to put me off my trip to Milton Keynes! I shall hardly be outside anyway, as it is all under cover, only a brief foray from bus to shops.

My new posh frock fits beautifully, and I thought I needed new shoes to go with it, but I found a smart pair of black heels in the wardrobe, which I had forgotten about. I also have an M&S voucher to spend, so will have a good mooch around there, and also in Next, who have a sale on. Hoping to get a nice lunch out as well, will save me cooking tonight.

Silly me got on the wrong bus home yesterday; at the bus-stop I use both buses come from the same direction, but one goes to the town centre and one takes me home - both have the same number, but different destination. I didn't look for the destination, just the numbet! So I had to get off at the next stop, cross the road and wait another 15 minutes for the right one, which was absolutely packed, as the previous one had been cut out. Very frustrating, but had to laugh at myself....

Must get my shower now, ready to get an early bus to town. Hope all your Saturdays go well.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A warm night and morning with the storms forecast for later.
DH and DGS1 have left for a fishing competition. I have a 7 year old DGS to amuse. He has asked to go and feed the ducks. That is a 2 minute walk away, so should fill half an hour!

Good morning from an overcast and grey s somerset.

Hoping for rain this morning, one of my two baby rowans is really struggling and half its leaves are crispy brown. Tap water is not the same

I have two large tall planters to empty later as I am expecting a few new hayloft plants next week. I think I will need 3 bags of john innes 3 and they are heavy to manhandle, I think I will buy them locally this morning and can immediately put one bag into each pot. I don`t like to leave these bags out as they get extremely heavy if it rains on them. I will need grit as well. I am getting stokesia for the first time and a michaelmas daisy for the actual garden.

Mick, I'm a bit concerned that you are struggling to get your prescriptions and you seem to have no-one supporting you.

Ash, that was great that you got help with your case, did you book assistance? I couldn't carry a case nowadays.

Thank you for all your good wishes yesterday. Poor wee Dollie was absolutely miserable. After seeking medical advice, we were advised to top up the paracetamol with ibruprofen. Things have certainly changed since my children were wee.
DD said it had brought back very bad memories of our holidays abroad, she always picked up ear infections in the pool.
Just as she was leaving, Dollie went to the loo and came back to inform us she had been sick everywhere! I have never met anyone so calm .After being sick.
It was actually a blessing in disguise. While down on my knees, cleaning up, I discovered a pool of water under the radiator, which was obviously leaking.
After she left, I lay down in the conservatory and slept for two hours.
I do not know where I found the strength to look after her, when I'm still quite unwell. The power of a gran's love. 😍

I will be doing nothing today, yesterday has taken its toll, but what a tonic to have the company of such a loving wee girl.
Still not feeling up to going to Mass, I shall watch online. Even if I say I will go and do nothing, I know I will be caught up in things and I don't want to discuss my absence with the parish busybodies. 😉 My non stop, hacking cough is back, (which means my lungs are congested) and I don't want to be annoying everyone at church.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It is good to be home! Off to London this morning to meet younger son. Lunch first and then the Queen’s Gallery for the Georgian exhibition. I hope the trains don’t play silly bu****s. There is an overtime ban so they could cancel at the last minute. I had already booked my tickets when the announcement was made. American cousin arrived early, in a taxi bless her with a huge case full of gifts . We went to an Italian restaurant in the evening for an excellent meal and we laughed a lot. My df came too and drove my car so that I could have a glass of wine.

Sunny again here in Cornwall. Allotment coffee morning today, check on my frogs and pick blackcurrants then off to my daughter-in-law's for a roast.

My art student started a painting for her sister. She is acceptably dissatisfied with what she produces, which is good because she should make progress as she works through the problems. She certainly has the drive. She went off with one of my big canvasses under her arm, grinning as if she'd won the lottery. We are planning to do a four week silver jewellery-making course together at a shop just up the road.

Mick, I thought you can get prescriptions delivered? Sorry, I don't have more info than that.

Good morning from a bright Suffolk with no sign of black clouds and no rain forecast. We are just 5 miles from the coast and seem to miss the extremes of weather. Rain would be good though.

Another quiet day at home with some admin to do. I wish I could follow the advice I was given years ago which is to deal only once with each piece of paper. Nowadays I think that would include electronic items. Instead I read something,put it aside,go back to it( if I can find it) and think about dealing with it. Rarely is that the end of it.

I’m hoping to add a photo of the dahlia we bought at Hampton Court yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve done this since posting on this thread .

We spent yesterday at Cadgwith. A lovely fishing village. The sun shone and we sat and watched the world go by. Afterwards we drove to Roskillys farm and enjoyed their delicious icecream.
Today we are headed for Lizard Point.

I had a lovely long chat with DS2 yesterday afternoon. He and his family are slowly making their way up the west coast of Scotland in their campervan, destination Skye. They're enjoying waking up each morning to the spectacular scenery - a bit of a change from Lincolnshire!
I was sad that Andy Murray was knocked out of Wimbledon yesterday - an end of an era I'm afraid.
Lots to do here today - as there is every day 😉. It's whether it all gets done or not is the question. Tomorrow always seems preferable somehow!

It was a gloriously sunny day yesterday when my friend and I visited Bewdley. Lunch in the Museum cafe, and a walk along the river.

BBQ in the evening, where it was still warm outside and 10pm.

No plans today except for a spot of housework and reading.

Good morning from a dull and windy Oxfordshire. It’s due to rain with thunder later this afternoon, I hope it holds off until then as I’m going to the Garden Centre at 9, unlike Karmalady I’m just going to grab some Geraniums in pots which I will transfer into some empty pots here, shouldn’t take too long and it will brighten things up. I’ve realised that I can only do gardening in 1 hour bursts, after an op on my back some years ago I just lock up, add that my wobbly legs if I kneel down for too long, so it’s short bursts but it still gets the job done.
So garden centre, then shop to buy some marzipan and Royal icing for MzOops birthday cake and I’m done for the day.
I was saying to my Hairdresser yesterday that as the girls and GCs love rich fruit cake for their birthdays ( but can’t manage to eat a full size home made one) and I’m long past enjoying the time spent and the cost of home made ones , at Christmas I buy several of Sainsburys Finest un iced rich fruit cakes ( in other words Christmas cakes) I then freeze them and pull one out when I need to, then just marzipan and ice them.
The kids all love them and they are only about £6 So a win, win.
Anyway that’s my day.
I hope all the poorlies start to feel better soon, special thoughts are with Kalu and Urms.
