Good to hear that Mick. Have a good day.
DD on night duty so coming home to sleep. Will stand guard and try to keep Dog quiet. Lots of plastic flutes to wash up and put away after our Schloer drinks party at dance festival.
The roses have finished really so am now on to hydrangeas. We have a lot of white with a tint of pink and a deeper pink from cuttings. And a dark blue that needs rescuing.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from an overcast Bristol. There are a few patches of blue, but the forecast is for a rainy day.
We had quite a lot of rain in the evening and night. I hope it’s not damaging the hay making and harvests, though fruit trees may well benefit.
Your hydrangeas sound gorgeous, loopy.
What an exhausting day yesterday. I’d given up waiting for the carpet men by 1020, so started baking for today. I made cherry/almond fairy cakes, Nutella brownies, lemon drizzle traybake and chocolate biscuits.
The young men arrived in the middle of all the mixer noise. They were incredibly quick. Carpeted two (albeit very small) rooms, took their rubbish and the old carpet away, in just over 90 minutes! They pushed furniture around etc. They are back next week to put in “laminate” in the living room. This time they’ll take more than a day. I may need to beg a bed from somewhere.
DS was roped in to help move and return furniture after vacuuming. I got 4 bagless thingies full of fluff. He didn’t stay as he had to collect Iris from school. He also reminded me that he was leaving on Tuesday next week. 😢
The baking was for the Archbishop’s visitation this evening church, they are expecting about 200 guests. Lots of cakes needed.
Carpe diem, my dear friends. 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning from s somerset, a mix of dull white and dark skies all day plus lots of rain. The ground is sodden but this is typical for july and camping weather

I did some garden stuff yesterday first thing and one rowan tree is gone, very poorly roots, which could not cope with the dry winds. Space is now occupied by nine dwarf and beautiful red echinacea, moved from a vegtrug. They will all survive. Phacelia seeds now sown in vegtrug as the compost is too sandy, they will grow and then I chop and cover. Reminds me a lot of the turning wheel of nature and seasons

Today is, frankly, going to be quiet again but I will be making good progress with knitting my jumper. No more spinning until that is completed.

Have a good day

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and dry after a very wet evening and night. GrandMattie I hope tonight goes well. Your new church will be very happy you found them! Mick a prescription delivery will help, I'm sure.
Yesterday I arrived at dd's house for six fifteen, thinking I would have a leisurely start, to find dgs1 up waiting for my arrival. He was very good and stayed fairly quiet and we had to wake his brother at eight. A riotous morning at soft play then a nap for dgs2 was followed by a walk to the swings and then watching a digger work. I didn't visit mum as I was pretty tired.
Today I had planned to take them back to the country park but it'll depend on the weather I think. Rain suits and wellies at the ready. Chicken in a honey and chili sauce with rice for dinner. Have a good day all.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I am collecting the print I bought from Lanford Arts Festival today. It has been at the framers for a couple of weeks but has been ready since last week - we were on holiday so couldn’t pick it up. It is going on a bright pink wall in the hall! It will replace my OU graduation photo which has been moved to the new spare room. After lunch I’m seeing the seamstress about turning up a dress. I bought a beautiful dress in John Lewis on their sale for £19! I fear I will have to pay more than that to have it fixed! OH is out this evening so it will be good not to have Wimbledon on. My friend over the road had us doing paper collages yesterday so I might try bc and finish mine. Some of the ladies at the craft group are very talented, but I’m not one of them. I’m a good knitter and can bake an excellent cake, but that’s the extent of my crafting abilities. Have a good day. It was great to see Urms in Soop’s kitchen yesterday.

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Mick glad to hear you've got your prescriptions sorted so much easier for you having them delivered.
GM your one busy lady with all that baking I'm sure it's very much appreciated.
I managed to bring dental appointment forward to next Monday, they could have seen me before but I'd rather wait to be seen by own dentist.
No plans for today may start another book.
Nice to see Urms posting yesterday evening.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, but thundery showers forecast this afternoon, so not sure whether to attempt our health walk or not.

Busy times, grandMattie! I'm sure your cakes will go very quickly!

A.quick visit to the shops yesterday after yoga to see if I could change a top, but nothing in the size I wanted, so decided to keep it. Had a coffee in M&S, and picked up my Sparks offer of a free farmhouse loaf. Met a colleague from my last school; she was my TA with a challenging Yr 6 bottom set maths group; we had lots of fun thinking up interesting practical ways of teaching them and.keeping them interested. We had a good catch-up chat. After she left education she went on to work with my DD at the county council.

The towels dried quickly in the afternoon and I caught up with admin stuff.

Fish for dinner last night, and tonight's dinner is home-made spicy mince out of the freezer, not sure whether to have it with rice or a jacket potato. Going to add sweetcorn and peas to it for extra fibre and colour.

Meters to read today as I forgot to do it last week. Will also hoover upstairs and do the stairs as well; the cats are forever shedding fur!

Have a good day everyone.

RosesandLilac Tue 11-Jul-23 07:01:48

Good morning everyone, it’s a grey skies view from my bed this morning.
There were over 100 people at the funeral yesterday, standing room only for many and a really moving and amusing send off for a dear friend.
I didn’t go to the wake as had booked this painting residential long before A died 😢, so had a long drive (over 4 hours in the car)
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Taichinan Tue 11-Jul-23 07:04:45

Good morning from a grey, cool Angus coast where it's been raining all night.
That's progress Mick! It must be reassuring to speak to someone, and also to get a prescription delivery. Onwards and upwards!
Nothing to report from here - all you busy people put me to shame! Mind you, ten years ago I might have given you a run for your money. Lockdowns have a lot to answer for where I'm concerned.
Blossoming so sorry for the loss of your friend yesterday flowers. It's the hardest thing - such a shock and brings us face to face with our own mortality I think.
Harrigran a whole week at the Three Chimneys must have been wonderful!
Today DS2 and family wend their way south again - it sounds as if they will have a lot of rain to contend with.
Tai chi for me this morning followed by a much-needed major shop for food!
I hope everyone has a good day with some sunshine and smiles x

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. We have some very dark clouds overhead.

I have choir this morning- last one till September although we have some oerformances over the summer.

This afternoon we are off to see Bertie in his leavers' concert and then looking after his siblings whole his parents see the evening performance.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Tue 11-Jul-23 07:08:34

Good Morning all from Severnside. Swiftly moving clouds up there.

I spent the day cleaning a few rooms and writing letters which I have to post later. Later on I spent time with my brother and we were remembering things from the village we grew up in. There is a big gap between us so we were able to tell things that the other may not have known.

My hydrangeas are looking lovely too loopy. My green/white one is just coming into flower.

Off to swimming this morning so I’d should go and prepare for that.

Best wishes to all 🌷🌷

Good morning from a brightish Torbay after a very wet evening.

My journey home went well despite having to negotiate the labyrinth that is New St Station in Birmingham! All the connections worked and I found a taxi easily at Torquay station. But such a change in the weather. My lovely friend, who took me to Stafford station, arrived in brilliant sunshine but the weather deteriorated en route to the point where the a/c made the train too chilly!

After a long rehearsal, I had to drive to Newton Abbot in heavy rain to pick up olddudders, who arrived at 10.55 pm! He’d had to book a later €* train, hence his later than usual arrival. I did not enjoy the driving conditions but it was worth it, especially having TIB brought this morning!!

Today, I’m at church for fire extinguisher training!

I’m glad you’ve had some help regarding your prescriptions, Mick and you’re enjoying the Tour de France.
I did wonder who would eat all the products of your baking, grandMattie. I should have guessed they were to be donated!

Wishing everyone a good day and hope we shall hear from absent friends soon. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Taichinan Tue 11-Jul-23 07:09:46

Enjoy your art course RoseandLilac.

Morning Mick, ironing All. A cloudy start to our corner of Somerset. Rain due soon.

As we feared no surgery for Mr C this week. For the first time the junior doctors action was named as the reason. Until now comments from Admissions staff have been non-blaming. I feel for them, they are under huge pressure from patients. A new date will follow after clinical need reassessment. We’re left frankly not trusting any date. Although not surprised the disappointment is there along with some concern Mr C has sought GP advice about advancing symptoms. In the meantime the plan is to get out as much as we can.

I’m pleased you’ve had support from the nursing team mick and no more worries over prescriptions. We have an excellent pharmacy offering deliveries here, it makes life so much easier.

Your bakes will be popular this evening mattie, your new church congregation will be delighted. Flooring changes cause such upheaval, worth it though to make your new home truly your own.

There seems to be a lot of busy folk, hope the day goes well for everyone.

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. A warm, cloudy day forecast.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day, so I hope it stays dry for my short walk into the City centre and back later.
Relaxing in front of the tennis later.
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Tue 11-Jul-23 07:21:07

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C, I can hear the rain bouncing off the conservatory roof.😔

Glad you got your prescription sorted Mick, is there no-one in the complex, who can help out with errands?

GM and GMBatty, I am exhausted reading about your activities. In saying that, I was of a similar ilk, not so long ago! 😉

My friend, whose SIL died the other day, came over for a chat yesterday. Her SIL's death was quite traumatic, I felt so sad for her daughter who had to deal with it. This poor man died within a year of being diagnosed with this cruel and aggressive disease.😪
I have promised my friend a brand new black dress I have, to wear at the funeral, but I can't find it anywhere! 😡 I put it in a safe place, when I was doing my cull recently. That is a job for today. However, it means climbing up to search the top of the wardrobes, a dodgy activity to say the least! 😱

My friend had asked me not to tell our friend the Ebay queen about the bereavement, because she was in Spain on holiday and didn't see the point of spoiling her holiday.
The Ebay queen had no sooner gotten out of the taxi from the airport, when my neighbours, (DD'S parents) rushed over to tell them the sad news.
My friend is livid, because she wanted to break the news herself. The Ebay queen then phoned me, annoyed that I hadn't told her, saying she knew something was wrong, because our chat was so quiet over the weekend. 😔
I then had to soothe her ruffled feathers and explain that we didn't want to spoil her holiday.
Why can't busybodies just mind their own business?

Today we are attending the funeral of SIL's brother in our own parish church. I am a wee bit anxious about going after a four week absence and having to explain the reasons.
I have advised DH, that I cannot stand at the graveside, as I am too unsteady and will never make it up the hill. It will be difficult enough lasting through the service itself.
I have been the buffer between the PP and my sister in law, they don't get on! I will be glad when today is over.

I wish you all the best of days and my thoughts are with all, who are struggling. Blossoming, such sad news for you recently.
One bonus of being out in public, I will be able to light candles in person for you all! 🙏

brook2704 Tue 11-Jul-23 07:42:51

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds and drizzle, with more showers forecast for later
So sorry to hear that your DHs op has been postponed again corner how frustrating and upsetting for you both. I really hope it’s not too long before you get a new date and he has his op, sending ❤️
I arrived home safely from Cambridge last night after a good journey with only a very short flight delay. It was good to see DH who managed really well on his own whilst I’ve been away. Today we’ll do a Tesco shop and probably have our lunch out somewhere followed by a bit of a gentle flat walking it’s not raining.
Enjoy the concert this evening kitty!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Jul-23 07:52:47

Morning from high cloud in S Hants, we’ve had some rain. Glad you got your meds sorted Mick.
I’m exhausted just reading gMattie baking on an industrial scale.
I’m sorry to hear that corner it must be very worrying for you both.
I had a scheduled call from clinical haematology yesterday, my side effects are to be expected, I can always call them directly with concerns.
A top to return, library to visit (need to check if open today) and pharmacy chasing today.
It was great to see Urms in the kitchen.

harrigran Tue 11-Jul-23 07:55:00

Good morning from a cooler but dry NE.
Got most of the things I wanted on my shopping trip, enough to sort DIL's birthday. SIL stayed for a coffee and let the rush hour die down before leaving.
I had a simple dinner of prawn salad then had a chunk of fudge with two cups of tea 😳
Good to hear from Urmston, thoughts are with you and your DH.

grandMattie Tue 11-Jul-23 08:01:33

Thank you mink for giving us news of Urms.
The changes in my flat, apart from getting furniture that fits, are mainly not for cosmetic reasons, but to replace damaged things. The carpets are all “expired”, are rucked everywhere, and are starting to be a trip hazard.
As for the bathroom, the floor is getting squelchier daily from the leaking walls/shower tray, again both a health hazard with mould and dangerous!

Gingster Tue 11-Jul-23 08:01:51

Good morning all and it’s very grey here in Essex.

Thankyou for all your good wishes for our anniversary yesterday. We had a lovely lunch out and when Dh went to pay, the waitress said ‘your son has put money on a gift code for your meal’. What a lovely surprise! ❤️.

Yes GG the Lakes restaurant is the one out Rochford way. Have you been?

Today I have Play Reading but my throat is so irritating that I probably won’t read. I’ll just enjoy hearing the play unfold.
This afternoon is Bridge club so I’ll be out most of the day , much to DH’s pleasure 🤣. I asked him what he will be doing , he said’
‘Whatever I like’ 🤣.

*Marydoll’ I hope all goes well with the funeral .
No climbing to look for that dress! Let someone else do it.
Thankyou for all the 🕯️🕯️🕯️. And prayers.

Roseandlilac sounds like a lovely send off for your df. Enjoy the art course. 🧑‍🎨.
Ash you’ve had a very busy time lately. Relax and unwind now with Oldudders

Cornergran how disappointing for you both.

A rainy day for most of you , but probably not here in the S.E. .
We badly need it though.

🌸

Monk08 - apologies

Liberty Tue 11-Jul-23 08:10:25

Good morning from a damp Suffolk. I think there was rain overnight but very little and none is expected today. But the grass is still green and the pond full unlike last summer when the pond,a large natural one, dried up completely. We thought it may not come back but it did quickly. Must be a good underground water source.

I’m out for lunch with a group of women who meet monthly and have done regularly or a long time. I was invited to join them by the organiser and am the newbie. They are a lively lot and fun so a good time guaranteed.

Hope those with worries find some comfort today.
