Good Morning Tuesday 18th July 2023

All packed and ready to get picked up by transfer coach. Had a lovely week in Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife at an “upmarket” ! hotel for our Golden wedding anniversary. A bit hot at times but bearable with lots of relaxing in the shade.

Good morning from sunny East Lothian. Having a quiet time here with the family away. I have thoroughly ‘done’ the local charity shops but failed to find any nice tops in my size. I need a few extra things that I can leave here when we go back south.

Grammaretto, I am envious of your trip to Skye. I haven’t been there for many years. Speaking Gaelic must be hard work but fun. I remember my sister being at the Gaelic College when she first lived in the Western Isles.

We are thinking of taking the campervan down to Melrose for a couple of nights but the weather looks unpromising. Will have to make a decision soon!

Grandmattie, it sounds as though you will soon have your flat the way you want it.

Gingster, good luck for your DH with the hearing aids. I have same problem, though DH does wear his but is often ‘waxed up* and I’m sure he could get betters hearing aids eg Bluetooth ones.

Good morning - another grey day in the north west but not raining. I’m about to set to tidying and cleaning. It’s got a bit left behind with my focus on sorting mr i’s study. He left clutter but also so many treasures and surprises. So it’s taking a while as well as a physical and emotional toll but the joy of having shared our lives remains.

Yesterday was sunny, despite the weather man predicting Armageddon. Today rain is forecast later but we shall see. I did some laundry and a little decluttering, which is a never ending task. I found a pair of sandals that haven’t been worn, lovely purple Birkenstocks. They were a bargain offer in the winter and I’d put them away. I have admin to do today. Oops your post has reminded me I have a dress that needs hemming.

Great to hear you’re gradually improving Marydoll. MrB doesn’t like me going places on my own either, I feel I’m losing my hard fought for independence.

Glad Skye is showing you its sunny side Grammaretto, such a beautiful island. It’s beautiful in the snow too but I was much younger then

Good morning from a a overcast West York's. I am waiting for a call from physio ,then we are going out for lunch. We are going to be looking after gs for a few hrs while his mum &dad go to watch his sister in a school play .Have a good day all .

Good morning from a bright but clouding up Oxfordshire.
Out today as Dunelm has a bedding sale on and I have a list of items to buy for the family, nobody wants to go shopping but when I go I get a list of things to buy for them…MzOops left me some sewing to do for the GCs, but to be honest it’s far easier to buy new, and fairly cheap at the moment ( under £8) so whilst I’m out I’ll have a look for replacements.
Hope the sun stays out, the heating came on yesterday morning!

Good morning all from Benalmadena where it's 28° and sunny. Yesterday was unbearably humid and I retreated inside. We had been going to go to the Marina last night but it was far too hot so we ate locally in a Mexican restaurant we had gone to at the weekend. Today there's a whisper of a breeze which feels nice. I've been in the pool a couple of times this morning for a swim and now I'm drying off and reading. This feels very self indulgent but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Have a good day all

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. We are taking GS3 out to lunch today at his favourite restaurant. He will be going abroad for a year soon and we shall miss him a lot.
We have our own piece of theatre going on here Ash, two houses in the road are having work done and have skips out the front. The lady opposite has thrown out all sorts of things and we now have large expensive cars coming by, stopping and people rummaging through the skips. Is this a new hobby, it certainly keeps us entertained.
Jacs I know you will enjoy your trip to Sandringham, I am sure the King will have some very good cakes on offer, although he does charge for the car park now which his mum didn't.

Later this morning, wishing everyone a good day from a cloudy Northampton. Showers forecast this afternoon so not sure whether I shall venture out on the health walk.

I cut the front grass as soon as I got back from yoga.yesterday, also trimmed the hedge and pulled a good amount of weeds out.
It was still fine and dry after lunch so I ventured out to cut the back grass, was interrupted a couple of times by brief showers but job was eventually comp!eted. Shall have to go round and cut a few unruly shrubs back at the weekend. Hope to get both lawns cut again before I go on holiday.

Hoovering to do downstairs this morning then an early lunch. Hopefully health walk this afternoon. Roast chicken for dinner tonight.

grandMattie feeling tired is not to be unexpected considering all you’ve gone through in this last year, and on top of that, you’ve just moved which is well known for being stressful too, so give in to the tiredness a bit and have a nap if your body feels in need of one. 💐

We are having some guttering replaced this morning. The men have just arrived. The old stuff was not doing its job and the rainwater (of which we’ve had a lot recently 😅) was gushing over the top of it and against the kitchen wall under the window. I was concerned that if left it would lead to damp issues later.

Well I’d better get on.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Our Wi-Fi is playing up so my earlier message disappeared into the ether! Basically, my day will be spent mainly doing housework as my cleaner is still off sick. Have a good day especially those of you who are suffering.

It was the usual round of housework and laundry yesterday and then I took advantage of the ground drying up to mow the front lawn. It's taking its time to recover from drought, I may do a little re-seeding if only the wind would drop.

Today, a bit more housework, some admin and then continue reading my new book. It's a sci-fi about first contact and it's creeping me out a bit! I shall plod on and hope the aliens turn out to be loveable guys who are just being misunderstood.

Our boat finally went back into the water yesterday after eight months, DH is very happy.
We had a lovely evening with friends and I am now taking on some of the accounts work for the yacht club.
Housework and washing this morning and admin later.

Morning from a brightening S Hants, blackout blind fitted in the bedroom yesterday works a treat, no more early waking from the sun I hope.
Busy day on the voluntary phones yesterday, one lift left to sort out and stats to complete, window cleaner here later.

Good morning from an overcast but dry NE.
Had to set the alarm as I am expecting my bar stools to be delivered today but no time slot as yet. I hope the delivery man will lift the boxes into the porch as they will be awkward for me.
Six loads of washing done yesterday and got everything ironed as well so was able to to relax in front of the TV.
My sister said she couldn't face doing the ironing so took the basket to a company that does your ironing for you she is ten years younger than me.
Enjoy your trip Mick but do take care, you will be surprised at how quickly you get tired.

Oh, I thought a “merry” was WI for a “jolly” 🤣🤣 Hope it is a merry occasion though!,

Supermarket shop and admin today and I may possibly make it to WI tonight if energy levels hold up, which they should do. Glad that Mick feels able to consider some normal activity and hope that works well for him; Marydoll’s battle with the laptop sounds exhausting; I think living with upheaval is tiring, gMattie, not surprised you had an early night.

DGS will be here for a couple of hours this morning.
We have a man coming to fit new blinds on four windows so he will enjoy watching that.
This afternoon I am going to a WI open merry in a village nearby. Tea and Morris dancers. Nice to see traditions being kept alive.

I am really struggling with hip pain now. My hospital appointment has been moved back twice. Painkillers don’t seem to help very much. I suspect NHS will be a 2 year wait so probably going to have to delve into savings.
Healing thoughts to all in pain or sickness.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
I took up a recovery position after arriving home from France late on Saturday night. The journey home entailed taxi to airport, delayed flight, long taxi ride to pick up car in the south and drive home by DS in wind and rain of around five hours. My back had given in after tramping around for a (enjoyable) week and the paracetamol and hot pads are in play.
DD arrives from the south tonight so I will stock up as short of food.
I’m feeding my neighbour’s two cats for two weeks as they are away in a very hot and humid Florida.
