the passports to be issued will have his majesity as opposed to her majesity
Nothing like keeping up with the Jones's

Still wondering whether to forget a British passport and get an Irish one when mine expires. I’m eligible but not sure of the implications. Has anyone done this?

It’s very easy and only about 90 euro.
Mine took about a month.
You need your and your Irish parent/parents birth and marriage certificates.
One parent must have been born on the island of Ireland.
If it’s a grandparent you need to register on the foreign births register first.

I’d love to have an Irish passport, but sadly no relatives. I don’t enjoy long queues in non EU channels when visiting Europe.

Just to add, the new passports look cheap and nasty.
Much prefer the other ones.

Well at least it doesn’t have a picture of his “so called queen”!

Blossoming

Don’t care. My passport is still dark red with EU stars on it. I will renew it when I need to.

Mine too, Blossoming, renewed just before they were changed to blue or black or whatever colour.

I've still got a couple of years on my EU one. If I'm still around to renew it I won't care whose on the pathetic "British" one.

Never had a long queue when visiting either of my two families homes. In fact last time eu gate was empty and was waived through this one by lovely PO at Schipol.

So you don't like a British passport, oh shame. EU is a conglomerate of increasingly at odds countries.

And U.K. isn’t Freya 🤔?

Hmmm 🤔, I really don't think passports will have either his or her majesity on them! 🤪🤭

Just had to get a new passport and didn't give it a second thought. Was disappointed when I noticed it said 'her majesty'.....

By the way I used the post office service, a bit steep at £98 but it took less than ten minutes at a booked appointment. Take your old passport with you and they can pull all the relevant details up using the passport number. Its just a case of confirming details/changes and your photo gets taken there and then with the iPad. No need to get it contersigned.

I received a confirmation email and then updated emails about progress throughout the week. My new passport arrived 8 days after.

I did it this way because I needed the surety of my new passport arriving before a trip to Europe in September. I was reminded that my passport would need to be renewed by 10th August when I went to Dublin in May. I had calculated I still had six months left after my return date from Europe but had forgotten to factor in the new ruling of needing more than ten years from date of issue. Still can't work that out but thank goodness for the flight assistant at Ryanair........

Would use the PO service again though (if PO still in excistance in 10 years smile) as the reassurance of getting everything correct and the progress emails really made a difference.
