Sadly, I've not been there yet!

Foxygloves Fri 21-Jul-23 14:07:00

Foxygloves you will be very close to me today as you hand over your DGS! That Hotel Chocolat is a few minutes drive from where I live
Ooh! Lucky you!
What an excellent shop for little boxes of exquisite chocs to take as hostess pressies or even (as I have just done) to treat oneself.
Diet, what diet? gringrin

Thanks Marydoll for the Caramel Cake recipe tips. I remember this was a treat from school lunches. Each table had 2 monitors who would divide a tray of Caramel Cake between the whole table. Years and years later a lady I didn't recognise said she remembered me because I always divided the Caramel Cake evenly, when some monitors would cut the tray in their favour, giving the scraps to the rest. Nice to be remembered, even if we forget faces.

Good morning from Portugal where we are staying with one of our DS. We drove across France and Spain from Bern! Stayed in interesting places on the way - Clement Ferrand, St Jean de Luz and Salamanca. Next week we take the ferry home from Santander. Longest holiday we have ever had!! Hope everyone has the best day possible

Good morning from a cool NE, the heating came on again this morning.
Woken at 2.30 by thunder, just one very loud rattle but found it hard to go back to sleep.
I have a courier coming to collect the furniture I am returning, no 1 hour slot as yet.
DS sent me a message to say that GD's boyfriend will be joining us for the family lunch tomorrow, talk about getting dumped in at the deep end 😆 poor lad.
Had a message from DD last night to say that she had injured her ankle, she just got up from a chair and it buckled under her. She sent a photo, it was horribly swollen and bruised. I am hoping she hasn't sustained the same injury as her uncle.

Housework today to get the place party ready, DS has arranged a birthday celebration for DIL but it will be here as it is more convenient than their home.
Have a good day all.

Good morning from a bright but not sunny Essex coast.
Admin and ironing already done today, a visit to the Post Office later.
A gorgeous baby Marydoll, I do miss having a baby around but there will be no more.
Have a peaceful day everyone xxx

Auntieflo Fri 21-Jul-23 09:54:14

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Lovely lazy day yesterday, coffee and reading in the garden, and a quick snooze. Pottered about, lifting more self sown Verbena Bonariensis, and disturbed ants everywhere I pulled. I was waiting for them to swarm, but didn't see if they did.
Coffee later in town, and probably shop for a few things. There's always something on my chalk board to get.
A top up of meds delivered early this morning. I hope that doesn't mean my next order gets mixed up.
Jazzhands, I think 'cake' was one of the first words our GGS learnt, and he is still a great cake fan.
Wishing all those who are poorly a peaceful day.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. Hope you start to see a real improvement Mick.

DD still here and will leave for the south today. I will miss her. She went through all my bank statements and accounts yesterday to give me a proper idea of outgoings etc, figures being a weakness of mine. Throw in some weeding and she’s a star. She was out in the evening with old friends from childhood whilst I had a date with James Norton in Grantchester😍

Will carry on organising the programme for a lunchtime recital I am giving in September, photocopying music and finding missing copies.
Thoughts as always to Urms Kalu and all with worries of any kind 🌹

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. Glad you are feeling a little better Mick

Yesterday I cleared out a lot of redundant work stuff from my home office. I need to get on with that today. It’s a job I have started several times but I’m not up to bending and lifting. Yesterday I sat on the floor while I sorted papers into 3 piles - keep, throw, shred. I was so stiff when I tried to get up I had to get MrB to come and help me. I have a lot of old tech manuals and books that will have to go to the tip. They are out of date now so no point passing them on.

Good luck at the dentist Marydoll, what a gorgeous picture.

Safe journey to any travellers, hope plane cancellations and rail strikes don’t ruin any plans.

Thinking of Kalu, Urms, Baggs and all who are dealing with illness right now.

Have a good day all 🌹

Morning all from an overcast S E Essex

The nearly 14 teen GS is asleep, DH has taken The Imp with him on his errands. Hopefully going to the park, the boys can run off some energy, if it rains they will
be climbing the walls 🤣

Will now read your posts

Have a good Friday folks🙋‍♀️🦩

Always nice to read and catch up on what everyone is up to!

Nice little special place in that photo Mizuma.

Over cast and dull yet again in S Yorks and longing for some sun but the weekend - well, they've promised "a months rain"".

Nice WhatsApp with DS last night and a swim earlier good to be back in the gym swing after being away.

Today my car is being taken off for minor but essential repairs after the AA call out incident 1o days ago (I've been away) so got a counselling Zoom and will potter with odd jobs.

Bests for poorlies and may outings and family be successful.

A late good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool cloudy South Yorkshire. It was cold last night so I had to get up and put a fleece blanket over the duvet! It’s July for goodness sake! A busy day walking and lawn cutting yesterday left me rather drained. GS phoned to tell me how their holiday is going - but I think it’s his way of checking up on me!😊. Not sure what’s on the agenda today. Catching up on lost sleep probably!
Lovely baby Mary - obviously very interested in what’s going on around her!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Quick trip to local market and a visit from financial adviser this morning. DD and DSiL arriving later today to stay overnight before taking DGD1 off after her busy fortnight. She was off early for the last day of term with church service at which she is playing the piano amongst other things. She has had a wonderful two weeks and has impressed me by knowing the names of most of the 200 children in the school.

Gorgeous baby, Marydoll, very envious of all those with someone small and cuddly in the family.

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish Carlisle where it will no doubt shower sooner or later. Yesterday was dry though it clouded over a bit in the afternoon.
Having given the house a good vacuuming, I went out for a walk after lunch. I have got unfit and, though usually quite active in house and garden, I find there's nothing like a good walk for improving matters. No problem doing it but it knocked me back a bit an hour or so later for a while. I shall keep at it though.

Today, mopping the floors? And my dusty skirting boards are calling out for attention....I don't 'see' dust very well, just mentally you understand! In the afternoon, there's plenty of choice for amusement .
DH and I visited the Sagrada Familia over 20 years ago Georgesgran. In those days, you just strolled up, bought a ticket, went in and explored freely, no crowds. We investigated every nook, cranny and turret, it's a wonderful place. Now I guess you have a timed entry ticket. You will definitely find it a fascinating experience.

Thoughts to Urms and Kalu and all of you having a rough time. Not forgotten.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A big shop this morning before the arrival of DD1 and family for two weeks. I hope we are up to it. DD2 now has her home in pieces with the builders all over it so I have a feeling we are going to have a busy time here. We are so slow now but I notice DH is lining up a few lifting jobs with so many young men around. Yesterday's anniversary day out went well with a light lunch and a walk round a beautiful local garden,
Marydoll your lovely GD is a real babydoll
Enjoy your holidays.
Best wishes to all struggling along.

Marydoll Fri 21-Jul-23 08:36:35

Wrong quote! I told you I have lost the plot!

LLFL, her wee chubby legs are the best bit!

That baby looks scrumptious, MD!

Georgesgran, enjoy. I am so envious. 💚

Jazzhands

Good morning all. Visit from little GD was a delight Exhausting too. A new word she has learned - 'Cake'. I'm off to Pilates very soon. Marydoll - you don't have a recipe for Caramel cake by any chance? Hope everyone feels better.

One packet of pastry cases, one tin of Carnation Caramel (other brands are available) , one packet of chocolate sprinkles.
Sainsbury's and Marks do cocktail size cases.

You can also boil a tiny of unopened condensed milk in a pot of boiling water, The tin must be totally covered.
There is a video on You Tube. The link won't copy.

Good morning from cloudy and damp Sefton.
The rain has encouraged fungi, Mizuna. Tiny, delicate milking bonnets and beautiful deer shield are a few we have found this week. Enjoy!
A full day of gardening followed by a swim occupied me yesterday. Our DGC are coming round this afternoon which will be great fun.
There’s a lot of busyness on GM today. Whatever your plans, have the best Friday possible. To those struggling with worry I send best wishes.

Enjoy Barcelona Georgesgran especially spending time with your DD and visiting the Sagrada Familia, it looks amazing and it’s another thing on my bucket list!

Good morning from Barcelona, where I’m having a long weekend with DD2. We have tickets for the Sagrada Familia this morning, a 20 minute stroll from our Hotel. The weather is hot and humid, but we’ve a lovely terrace and pool.
I hope you got some medical advice Mick as you seem so up and down?
Best wishes to all. X

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 21-Jul-23 08:11:08

Good morning from a cool, damp Co Durham.
Had a quiet week ( as usual). Love reading yor posts, so many different experiences to enjoy 😀.
The grand dogs are coming to stay for the weekend, they are very lively, DD2, sil and dgd are off on an adventure weekend.
I’m meeting a friend for drinks and chat this evening. We try to meet up once a week.
An amusing thing yesterday. Walked with dgd to local shop, as we came to cross the road she put her arm across me to make me stop. She’s eight 😂. I know that quite often our children seem to become our parents, but an eight year old ! I felt really old, but quite touched too.
Hope all journeys go well, and those with ills get relief.
