Good morning Mick and all who follow.
Early start DH has a fishing contest he will not be fishing however he's now a fine weather fisherman but as the secretary and organiser of contests needs to be there.
Rain all day yesterday looks very much like the same today so will decide later my plans.
Whatever your plans enjoy your Sunday and may you all find some ☀️ will catch up with everybody's happenings later.

Good morning, wet and grey here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Nothing planned for today, suits me fine!
I do need to do some ironing and a few other bits and pieces, otherwise quite happy to pootle 😊

Good morning from an overcast Crewe.

The Theatre Academy Dance Show lived up to expectations and more! DGD was in several dances, reflecting the various disciplines in which she is taught. My favourite was Pirates (ballet) in which she was the lead dancer and looked extremely menacing as she wielded her cutlass and glowered at the audience!

Today we’re meeting the family for breakfast. DGS2 has just been on a school trip to Barcelona so there’ll be lots to hear about.

Belated birthday greetings to those who celebrated yesterday and a blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🩰🎭🎶🦩

Good morning from a grey Bristol. Although the sky is grey, no rain is forecast. We had a lot in the evening and night.
I’m so glad all went well Ash. It’s wonderful to see how the DGC develop into such interesting people.
I managed to find most things for the church coffee as the “leader” was quite late. People enjoyed my baking; the vicar asked if I’d make stuff for Harvest Festival lunch…
I rushed home in the rain (again) to find the family ensconced.
Surprisingly, DD approved of my wardrobe but told me she’d have to assess and rearrange my kitchen before I was “allowed” to buy any more furniture! I was annoyed and amused at the same time.
After a very rushed lunch, where Iris was being very difficult about the food (the girls are impossible to feed!), they went to see “Barbie”.
I messed around with some patchwork and made a square from the online tutorial earlier in the week.
To my immense surprise and pleasure, the plumber sent me a schedule of work to start in September. It will take three weeks but everything will be done. Hurray!
I hope you all have a blessed Sunday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a wet South Downs, but it is forecast a dry and sunny day.

Late yesterday afternoon completely forgot it was summer and defaulted to late autumn. Gales, rain and decidedly chilly, so retreated indoors to read and fiddle about.
Son called to tell me of his latest travels - quick 48 hr trip to Iceland to see active volcano - sounds smelly 😄. Iceland is his most visited country I think - his first degree was geology and he spends a lot of his spare time looking at rocks - bit weird. They are off to The Galapagos in the autumn and trudging up Machu Picchu. DIL is having some plates removed from her ankle - broken in Spain on another trip - and hoping it will be healed properly in time for her trip to South America.
We also discussed plans for his 50th in a months time. A big but very casual family get together to be held at his place. His father and himself almost share a birthday - just one day apart.

Today apart from the usual walking, nothing is planned except we may pop to see daughter singing at a local medieval Manor House - it’s its 900 birthday. Lovely old place with fascinating history as you’d expect. There was a leper colony near by for one thing - the church has a window through which the lepers could receive the sacrament.

That’s enough of me rabbiting on.

Fish day today - Greek style roasted fish.

Enjoy your day everyone

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset had a soaking yesterday, still damp out there although supposed to be dry later.

Wretched wind and rain snapped a long stem from a climbing rose. I rescued the roses but oh dear, the poor plant has lost half its volume.

I smiled at your daughter putting herself in charge of your kitchen grandmattie, our goddaughter was the same with her Mum who always agreed, smiled benignly and then did exactly as she pleased. A proud moment for you ash. Your husband sounds very sensible monk, hope he can stay dry.

No idea what we’ll do today. Not a lot I suspect other than process some laundry. A roast meal later.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Yesterday's wind and rain kept us indoors.
Today promises to be warmer and dryer.
2 x DGS are being dropped off soon for 2 weeks of school holiday free childcare! We are visiting the new baby and family this morning. Hope to get a photo of all 4 grandchildren together.
Roast chicken this evening.

Good morning from a damp and grey north Kent. Supposed to improve as the day goes on, but we shall see.

Spent yesterday morning mowing the lawn and tidying up one of the flower beds; all the plants seem to have exploded apart from one of the silver birch trees which has died. It was planted about 25 years ago, so it will be sadly missed. Rained all afternoon and evening which curtailed any further gardening activity.

DS and three GDs popped round in the afternoon; they are all off on holiday to Canada tomorrow but travelling up to Gatwick today. DD and family are planning on holidaying in Rhodes next week; not sure if that will go ahead in view of the fires they are experiencing at the moment.

Not much planned for today; really depends on the weather. Might do some watercolour painting. Hope you all have a good day.

Susan56 Sun 23-Jul-23 07:34:15

Good morning from Shropshire where a dry day is forecast.

Yesterday we were both feeling exhausted so nothing was achieved.Luckily we have a few days with an empty calendar so can take it easy.

Some lovely holidays planned by the sound of it.The Galapagos is somewhere I would have loved to visit and Canada was one of our favourite holidays.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It has been lovely having daughter staying for a few days. She is meeting friends for lunch in London so I will be driving her to the station to get an early train. I too will be pootling the rest of the day. Next week promises to be busy particularly as elder son and his family should be coming to stay for a few days.
Thoughts of all those with difficulties, especially Urms and MaryD.

kittylester Sun 23-Jul-23 07:39:45

Morning all, notice the absence of 'good'. We have had rain overnight and this morning it is very dull.

It was really autumnal here yesterday and we were tempted to put the heating on but survived without.

Today we have DD1 and family here for lunch before they go off Inter Railing in a week or so.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Mizuna Sun 23-Jul-23 07:49:45

Good morning from Cornwall where the sun is out, which is good because I'm off to St Ives with my sons and nephew and their families. Must be mad - St Ives in the holidays gets very crowded!

Fabulous allotment Show yesterday and my bat won a prize!!!!! grin My photographer son took some lovely pics, one is attached. Well, better get on and gird my loins and polish up my crutches to face the crush on the other coast.

Marydoll Sun 23-Jul-23 07:56:02

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 11°C, with showers forecast.

Sounds like you had a lovely time Ash.
GM my daughter could try and advise me to change my kitchen, she wouldn't get very far! 😁

I have little plans for today, apart from altering a dress I bought. The shoulders are a little large, so I am going to adjust it.
I really like the many shades of mauve and don't want to return it.

Most of our sacristans are on holiday, so I plan to go down to church for an hour to help the young sacristan, who is covering both masses this morning, with only half an hour between them. He is autistic, but absolutely amazing. He finds the public side of things difficult and likes me to be about, as a buffer.
It would normally be me, who covered, but I am no longer well enough to do so. It's exhausting and everything needs to be done at speed. On top of that my concentration is poor and I am forgetting to do things. 😔
I have become the tortoise, as opposed to the hare.
I will also use the opportunity to catch some people I need to speak to and get my admin up to date.

Susan, I hope you and your DH feel better soon, you have a difficult time healthwise lately. 💐

I have made traditional Scottish steak pie for dinner, that should put DH in a good mood. 😁

Have a good day, folks!

Iam64 Sun 23-Jul-23 07:58:09

Good morning - another grey rainy day here in the north west. Sadly, I’ve decided the weather isn’t conducive to spending the day at the Royal Lancs show

Marydoll Sun 23-Jul-23 08:00:43

Mizuna you are a ⭐, well done!

I should have said that DH is not happy at all at me going out, he worries. However, I feel my world is shrinking and I have accepted that this is as good as it will get! Carpe diem and all that!

ShazzaKanazza Sun 23-Jul-23 08:01:12

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Obviously it’s raining.

We have our Son, Daughter and Grandchildren over today for a lamb roast dinner. My Son in law has gone back to sea for three months so we see a lot more of our daughter and the girls. We take a step back so they can spend family time together when he’s home.
My little grandson in China is doing very well and is very cute. He’s almost two month old now.

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday. Thinking of our friends who have illness and family stresses weighing them down 🌻🌻

Gingster Sun 23-Jul-23 08:01:54

Good morning and Thankyou for all your birthday wishes.
Celebrating today with all the family here for a lunchtime buffet.

Dh and ds1 watched a footie match yesterday in the pouring rain and I walked little pooch and got wet. As I walked I thought I’d rather have this weather than the searing heat in Europe.
Rhodes is burning Jac, . Have you seen how the crowds of holiday makers have nowhere to go and no help from the travel companies or authorities.

Ash how wonderful to see your gd performing 🎭.
It’s so lovely to see them on stage , confident and talented.

Lots of visiting families and GC coming to stay. Hope the weather improves for them. 🙏. It does make a difference for outings and keeping them occupied.

Enjoy your Sunday if you can 🌸

brook2704 Sun 23-Jul-23 08:04:46

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve got grey clouds and rain is forecast for later.
A very well done to your DGD Ash she sounds very talented, enjoy your family get together later and tales from Barcelona
Yesterday was actually a warm sunny day here, the first we’ve had for ages. I got quite a lot done in the garden and enjoyed being outside. More of the same today if the rain holds off
Well done with winning a prize for your bat mizuna and enjoy your day in St Ives today!
Take it easy Marydoll
Hoping everyone on holiday has a lovely time
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

luluaugust Sun 23-Jul-23 08:05:44

Good morning from a grey W Kent. No heavy rain until the evening yesterday.
Baking and ironing today ready for DD1 and family arriving tomorrow.
All the best.

Greyduster Sun 23-Jul-23 08:07:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire but the sun is trying it’s best. We had a very wet day yesterday again. Nothing at all planned for today so may try and scan some photos onto the laptop if it’s in a mood to co-operate! And make the cheese scones I didn’t make yesterday.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Liberty Sun 23-Jul-23 08:11:16

Good morning from another grey day. It was chilly and wet for most of yesterday evening and we hoped that those at Latitude managed to find some shelter. We heard quite a lot of loud ‘boom, boom, boom’ but I think the music stops by midnight.

Off to help celebrate DGD3’s 13th birthday. She has requested a biscoff cake and her mum was blowing up lots of balloons last evening to make a balloon arch. Hope she’ll be impressed.

karmalady Sun 23-Jul-23 08:19:59

Good morning from s somerset with mixed and cloudy weather today, rain will come again

Relaxed pottering and a brisk walk today. I have been rewinding my fine spun fibre singles onto storage shuttles and that process alone is so satisfying. I have needed to buy more shuttles as the singles will stay on them until I am ready to ply, in a few weeks. It is all slow mo stuff

Have a good day

mumofmadboys Sun 23-Jul-23 08:20:27

We are staying at our son's in Portugal. Tomorrow we move on to Santiago de Compostela before getting a ferry mid week from Santander to Portsmouth. We will have been away for a month. Never been away so long before. Looking forward to the comforts/ routines of home again! Hope everyone has the best Sunday they can

ginny Sun 23-Jul-23 08:20:37

Good morning. After a full day of rain it is a litter dryer this morning.
We had a lovely day with the two little ones . They were very excited about going in holiday but we’re well behaved and kept us smiling. The whole family are now safely in Cornwall.
MIL coming for roast lamb dinner today otherwise a quiet day.
I think I will try to finish off 3 knitted bears .
Thoughts and hugs for poorly people .
Happy travels and holidays and a good day wished for all.
