After yesterday’s day- and evening-long rain the sun is shining but only for now, I suspect.

After the family departed I collapsed quietly and did nothing for the rest of the day. After an early night I have more or less revived, though am cross that I have such limited reserves of energy. Church service is at 9.00 am so must get out in time. Hope Susan, Mick and Marydoll have a better day.

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, I don’t think it will last though.
Pottering again today, I manage to get quite a bit done yesterday though, ironing, baking, making a fish pie and a jelly for lunch today, I also prepared the fresh fruit for breakfast this morning. I read a book and did a bit of my jigsaw.
MissOops will bring the dog over later so a walk will be called for even if it’s wet.
Have a good day everyone, especially those who have worries and stress.

Morning all from an overcast S Yorks. I hope we get a wee bit of sun today but...

Quiet day planned as very tired indeed, maybe the Quakers, I've an option of in person or online.

Bests for poorlies, and may family visits and outings go well.

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is shining at the moment.
A visit to DH's eldest daughter later, no other plans today.
I hope you all have a pleasant Sunday and see some sun xxx

Morning from sun/cloud in S Hants, it rained, rained and was windy yesterday, cool too.
A lovely evening Ash what talent and discipline your granddaughter has.
Lots of holiday goings on, I hope everyone has the best time.
I’ll be pottering today, a retirement card to post, slow cooker meal to prep then pick MrJ up from the airport early evening.

Good morning from sunny Argyle.

Our cottage is cosy and comfortable and I’m just having my coffee so it’s a really late start to the day.

I think today we’re heading to Oban to the beach and we’ll see if the weather holds.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very grey Northampton, at least it's dry after yesterday's persistent heavy rain. Did very little yesterday apart from knitting and catching up on tv recordings. I managed to finish the first sleeve of my cardigan and have cast on for the second.
DS and younger DGD arrived after lunch to explore my collection of suitcases and found a couple for their holidays. They fly off to Corfu tomorrow.

Nothing planned for today, more of the same I suppose. Forgot to mention I had a rush of blood to the head the other day and cleaned my oven! Actually it wasn't too bad, as since I have had my air fryer I've hardly used it.

Bacon butty for brunch, and lamb chop for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from a still dull and grey Black Country, where it rained all day yesterday. It felt more like autumn than summer, very chilly too.

Popped over to Mums yesterday afternoon, as DS was there. So lovely to spend time with the both.

No real plans today, just go with the flow.

Sad to hear about the fires on Rhodes. We were there for 3 weeks in June staying in Lindos. I am on their FB page and a lot of the bars were not opening last night due to the falling Ash. It is very close there now as in Pefkos, hotels were being evacuated. Pefkos is only a 10 minute drive away. Just hoping it can be brought under control soon.

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday.

Good morning Mick and all from the Angus coast where a cold wind is blowing off the North Sea. Not a day for going outside!
Yesterday, in the absence of Lovely Gardener who is on holiday, I got the lawnmower out and cut one of the lawns where the clover was almost knee high. I've never seen it like that before, and I felt very mean to deprive the bees (I do have a bee friendly area elsewhere in the garden though)
On Friday three of us went to the Balance Clinic to show them the benefits of tai chi. We do this for each course they hold ('they' being the NHS).
They always enjoy watching us do a small segment of the set, and then join in doing the exercises while seated. Sometimes we get some of them up to do a few moves too, but really to get the benefit of tai chi it has to be done regularly and not many who attend the clinic are up to that sadly.
Anyway a couple of us went out for lunch afterwards and it was good to have a catch-up.
Nothing planned for today - apart from sheltering from that wind. I see the berries on the rowan next to my bedroom window are starting to change colour - a sure sign of 🍁🍂. In July?!
Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very rainy Carlisle. It's actually quite bright with it so maybe it will dry up later. I think it's managed to put down some rain every day since St Swithin's. Btw...what did the poor man do to be associated with rain?!
Yesterday I was back on antibiotics as the last lot obviously didn't quite clear my kidney infection. It's all very frustrating so it will be another few days of not doing too much. So what with that and the rain, I should probably get stuck into the books that are accumulating, I got some more as birthday presents too.

That's a very pretty piece of patchwork grandMattie. And it seems you must literally be a godsend to your new church...if that's not a blasphemous thing to say!

I'm off to have a sort through my wardrobes etc so I hope you all have a good day if possible.

Forgot to mention! Today would have been my Dads 100th birthday. He fought and was badly wounded in WW11, never talked about it though. Thinking of him today.

Good morning everyone, it’s pouring , I was wakened in the night with the downpour! That’s through triple glazing and no hearing aids !
Off to Mass soon , at least I’ve a new raincoat to keep off the worst of the weather
Candles will be lit prayers will be said

Grandmabatty Sun 23-Jul-23 09:02:41

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13°, cool and dry. Ash a very proud gran indeed! GrandMattie I love your quilt. Marydoll I love steak pie. Shall I bring a spoon 😊 Susan I hope you feel better soon.
Yesterday was a very quiet day for me. I pottered inside, had a nap in the afternoon and got all the washings done. Sadly, the dryer part of my washer/dryer gave up the ghost, so I'll have to replace the whole thing,I fear. Living in Scotland, it is often very wet and cold, so a dryer is useful. My kitchen isn't big enough to have separates so a combined effort is needed.
Today I'll visit mum later. In the meantime, I have masses of ironing to get through. I slept very late for me which has eaten into my day. Roast chicken for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning from a dismal wet NE.
Had lovely lunch out yesterday before returning home for birthday cake. We were introduced to GD's boyfriend, a very nice polite young man.
GD2 played the piano and then DD played some Chopin.
We then gave over the music room to GD1 and her boyfriend to play video games, they are studying game design and graphics at college.
Today DD and SIL will return and we will have dinner together, gammon joint for two and a vegetarian joint for DD.

Lovely to hear about your GD's show Ashcombe, so many talented youngsters 😊
Have the best day you can despite the weather.

Good morning from a very wet West York's it's rained most of yesterday and hasn't stopped yet and poor start for school holidays. Grandmachrisy47 Sun 23-Jul-23 09:32:50

Morning from a cold and very wet Co Durham. Rain forecast for the whole day. Grand dogs reluctant to go out. Don’t blame them.
Off to cycle through The Archers at ten. Have a pair of trousers to pick up from Sainsbury’s only £9 in the sale. Hope they fit 🤞
Have a good day.

Grammaretto Sun 23-Jul-23 09:53:49

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 12°c and rain forecast.
This weather reminds me of camping holidays grin I am grateful to have given away the tent!
I can hardly believe the glorious weather on Skye last week.

I have a list of things to do today and thanks for the reminder to send cards.

The cucumbers in the greenhouse and beans and cabbages in my veg garden are huge!

Sorry you are still poorly Ekwanimity
Get well soon.
It's so nice to hear and watch our DGC perform isn't it. Ash and Harrigran
smile
I hope St Swithin wasn't right but I would much prefer being in the UK than in Southern Europe right now.

Good morning everyone from rainy Lancashire. I hope you are feeling a little better Mick. A quiet day in sounds like a good idea, enjoy the sport.

Yesterday was a quiet day, I was not at my best after a bad night with little sleep. I managed to go through some papers and have a heap of shredding to do. I’m feeling quite frustrated as I have much to do and my body is not up to it.

Your DGD’s dance show sounds excellent Ash, what a talented girl.

You have settled in so well Grandmattie, beautiful patchwork.

Look after yourself Marydoll, don’t try and do too much.

Thinking of Kalu, Urm, Baggs and all who are dealing with illness right now.

Lots of lovely holiday news. Oban is one of my favourite places Baubles. I love to sit on the harbour and watch all the ferries coming and going. I have a beautiful Sheila Fleet necklace bought from the jewellers just opposite the pier.

Bacon butties for brunch here too Blue Sapphire, a regular Sunday treat. We are creatures of habit.

Have a pleasant Sunday all 🌻🌻

Good morning everyone on another beautiful Algarve morning. It’s been far better temperatures here so far than the rest of southern Europe. Last week was mostly just below 30° rather than above it. Even so I’ve spent more time inside that out, the living room has the only working air con and the glare outside affects my glaucoma.

DD1 and SiL went back late last night on a very delayed late flight. Both thoroughly enjoyed their holiday and DD is pleased with cooler temperatures today as she’s doing a 5K fun run in about an hours time. Both she and SiL have been running every morning they’ve been here. Sometimes I wonder where my children came from. DGD had more sense, she and her partner went to a fancy dress party last night dressed as slices of Pizza!

hollysteers Sun 23-Jul-23 10:26:00

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. I’m woken up at unearthly hours by the cat and the feeding is now complicated as her twin next door is being fed outside as neighbours are on holiday and I must make sure ‘mine’ (unofficially) is in when I feed the cat next door…

Caught up on phone calls yesterday and did some exercise to help my bad back, it’s tempting to just rest it.

grandMattie don’t let your DD boss you about!
Get well soon Ekwanimity
