Good morning all from the Black country.
Glad to hear MrC had his op onwards and upwards now.
Not much planned for today perhaps some gardening if it stays dry meeting friends at the club later.
Safe travels BlueSapphire look forward to hearing from on board.
Thoughts and hugs to our absent friends.
Enjoy your Friday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a sunny Black Country.

Yesterdays walk at Baggeridge Country park was very warm with the odd rain shower. Lots of chat and laughs.

Then over to Mums where I had a shower, and we went out for lunch. She as usual had Fish and Chips! I have attached a photo of the canal in Compton where the pub is. Such a pretty view considering we are in the Black Country.

We then popped over to DD's in the after as they are off to Corfu today. Just hope all is ok, but there are staying on the opposite side of the island to where the fire was.

No real plans today, probably tidy up the garden. MrJ hurt his back 2 days ago in the gym, so not too mobile at the moment.

Pleased MrC's Op went well. Wishing you all a lovely day, with special thoughts to all with worries and health struggles.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's overcast and mild. Your original message to Charleygirl is still there Marydoll. I have four apples on two trees, that's all! So pleased it went well for Mr C.

A beach walk really did me good yesterday, exercised my dodgy knee without too much pain. Then to fave charity shop with daughter-in-law where we ate strawberry and cream cake, yum. Afterwards a very long phone conversation with my ex to iron out some shared family worries, then my daughter rang to cast doubt on her visit to Cornwall next week as she is a bit under the weather.

Today I have absolutely nothing planned, which is lovely!

Amazing photo NannyJan.

Glad that MrCorner has had his surgery and hope his recovery is uneventful. Thought with Cornergran and the family at this anxious time.

Grey morning with showers in the forecast but I did manage to spray the new roses yesterday having waited for nearly three weeks for suitable weather- not sunny, windy or wet. Oldies coffee morning but no village market as the closure of the road through the village has made life very difficult all week. Due to be finished today, though.

Foxygloves Fri 28-Jul-23 08:05:48

Good morning from N Bucks where it is still bright but the clouds are building up. Yesterday’s lunch with friends was at a pancake restaurant where I could happily work my way through the menu!
I had a savoury pancake with goat’s cheese, caramelised pear and walnuts. Then the three of us shared a sweet pancake with banana, salted caramel and scoops of ice cream.
Diet? What diet?
For the THIRD time I am up and waiting for the BT Openreach engineer who I am assured with instal my new fibre broadband. Only I doubt that as the first engineer, 6 weeks ago realised that a trench will need to be dug from the road to a new point of entry for my internet, a distance of about 100 feet (or more?) and from what I have seen around the village that involves much marking up of pavements, the erection of “footpath closed” barriers and men in hi-viz jackets. I can’t see that happening this morning and have told them so, but to no avail.
We shall see.
Great news from Cornergran - tell Mr C we were all cheering him on yesterday when you see him later today won’t you?
Happy holibobs BlueSapphire and safe travels to all out and about and special thoughts to Kalu, Urms and all in distress.

Morning all from a dampish West Oxfordshire. I am having my roots done today and a cut. The grey is taking over and even though I’m 70, I’m not ready to embrace that look quite yet! I will pop into a Charity shop too. I had a mini clear out and have a couple of dresses and a pair of trousers I don’t wear any more. Thinking of the Corners and Urms.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Enjoyable if tiring day out with Dd1, SIL and two adult GC although DH struggled with the walking and we left them to the heavy shopping and had tea and cakes
Funny how things come out of a clear blue sky, we arrived home to find Dd2 has Covid, sounded awful so she will not see her sister now during this visit
Take care everyone

Georgesgran Fri 28-Jul-23 08:13:32

Good morning from Durham. So humid yesterday, I hope today’a a bit fresher. Saw my friend yesterday afternoon - her health anxiety is off the scale - I was worn out and a little annoyed when I got home. Taking Little Dog back to DD2 this morning, picking up DGS1, then meeting DD2 with DGS2 for coffee and cake. Complicated because DGS1 isn't a dog lover. I have him all day, then when he goes home, I’ll collect Little Dog again. More trips up the Western Bypass! Well used to it though.
Good to hear MrC had his op.
Best wishes to all. X

Gingster Fri 28-Jul-23 08:15:53

Good morning all and it’s fairly bright here at the Suffolk seaside.
Ants on the patio here too and so many birds.
Hundreds of sparrows feeding their young and seagulls in large flocks on the fields and on the beach.

Yesterdays weather was much better than expected, a couple of showers but very warm. We sat out in the garden of the pub for book club which was chatty and fun.

Today we might venture to Dunwich Heath and walk among the Heather (my name-sake). I don’t suppose it’s fully out yet. Then on to the Flora Tea Rooms for the ‘best’ fish and chips, on Dunwich beach.

DS1 had an an appointment to remove a rodent ulcer from his forehead yesterday. He’s been waiting since January. When he arrived the nurse thought it was a review on the op. He said ‘I’m here to have it done’ 😤. Another months wait now.

Dh had a small mower delivered yesterday. Assembled it fine but when it came to unbolting the blade to put the spacers on, the bolt was stuck fast. No way was it coming off. I googled and found many tales of people breaking their new mower because if this . Why !!!!!. So frustrating.

Hope your chest clears as the day wears on MD
Cornergran best wishes to your Dh.
Have a wonderful cruise Blue.

Take care all 🌸

Good morning from Siberia.

Well done Mick with your progress in getting better. Slowly but surely..... you don't want any mishaps!

Another hot day here but I feel autumn is coming soon. I put a sheet on me last night in bed!
I have found a teacher for Chinese, so I am delighted.

I am going to Europe in August for a holiday to see my children. So lots and lots of travelling ahead((((( I hate travelling and sitting at airports for hours and hours between flight(

Have a good day everyone!

Morning from sunny S Lanarkshire. Glad your day out went well Mick and so pleased to hear that Cornergrans husband’s op went well. Wishing him a good recovery.

A lovely blethery lunch yesterday with a fellow Gransnetter*, we talked so much we had no time for coffee, that was a first!

A really good night’s sleep last night too, first for a while.

Hope you have a lovely time on your cruise BlueSapphire, you’ve really been looking forward to it. I don’t remember if you mentioned your itinerary?
That was really rotten for your DSiL baubles, I hope he is fit to enjoy today. I bet your eldest DGD loved having you to herself!

Best of wishes to everyone, prayers to all who need them.

Morning everyone from north kent; supposed to be a reasonable day weatherwise.

Yesterday’s visit to my osteopath was interesting as we investigated my painful thumbs; not sure what’s causing the problem, but he massaged them - he’s a big man with hands like plates so my hand disappeared inside his! Then he did some medicinal acupuncture; two needles in each thumb which caused a bit of discomfort, but since then my thumbs have been twiddling without any stiffness or discomfort. Hopefully it will last.

Looking forward to going to our local theatre tonight to see “Titfield Thunderbolt”; they always put on a good show so it’s usually a good evening out.

Enjoy your cruise BlueSapphire. Hope MrCorner is on the road to recovery. Thinking of Urms as well; miss reading her morning contributions to this thread.

Have a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 28-Jul-23 08:34:11

Good morning from another wet day in Oxfordshire.

We had masses of flying ants in the conservatory yesterday along the windowsill, a quick burst of Raid killed them all, but I’ve no idea where they came from, the windows were all closed, but I’ll have a good look later , maybe there is a gap somewhere.
I need to make some buttonholes in a duvet cover which had press studs in it, who knew that my ‘new’ sewing machine of 20 yrs has an automatic buttonhole maker? I didn’t until yesterday, so it won’t take too long to do, then a rummage in my button box to find the buttons, they won’t match so will all be different colours, it’s a plain cream cover so it will liven it up a bit.

Apart from that we might have to collect the car which wasn’t ready yesterday, When the rain dries up I can cut the lawns, but that won’t be today.

Pleased that MrCorner got his op, best wishes to Kalu, Baggs and Urms. Good to hear that you had a good day yesterday Marydoll.

Let’s hope the weather soon sorts itself out and Summer arrives, I’m fed up with the rain, even though I know it’s doing us all some good and is far better than Southern Europe.

Who says Climate Change is a myth?

dragonfly46 Fri 28-Jul-23 08:35:29

So pleased to hear your news Corner.

Liberty Fri 28-Jul-23 08:37:09

Good morning all from another sunny Suffolk morning. The weather in Lowestoft where Imet a friend yesterday was much better than forecast and our 11o’clock meeting ended at about 4.45pm. DH can never understand how we can chat really without a break for so long.

Good to hear that MrC’s op actually went ahead successfully yesterday and hope that his recovery is a smooth one.

Enjoy your fish and chips Gingster at the Flora tearooms. We are meeting 2 friends from Essex there for lunch on Monday.

Thinking of those who are feeling unwell and hoping that those whose health is improving continue to go from strength to strength.

Grammaretto Fri 28-Jul-23 08:40:10

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunnier today than yesterday!
I had a lovely blethery lunch with a fellow GNer yesterday. We didn't finish our chat so will need to meet again.
A very scenic return journey by bus due to road closures.
Its my volunteer morning and then not much planned.
So glad MrCorner is on the road to recovery.
Marydoll despite the intrigue and hard work, bad chest and all, it sounds as though your work at the church was a tonic.
I hope so. Sending hugs to all our poorlies and strength to those with worries.
Love the photo NannyJan isn't our country stunning!

BlueSapphire Fri 28-Jul-23 08:57:13

Stillearning, it's Iceland, via the Orkneys, and returning by way of Cork.

kittylester Fri 28-Jul-23 09:07:11

Good morning all from a dull North Leicestershire.

I have to go to the butcher and Waitrose this morning and then the dentist this afternoon. I wish my long standing dentist hadn't retired.

harrigran Fri 28-Jul-23 09:09:17

Good morning from a dry NE but probably not for long by the darkness of the clouds.
Waited all day for the bank to ring me and of course they did not. A wasted day where I could not make noise in case I didn't hear the phone.
Today I am expecting another furniture delivery, hoping this lot will be fine and I can keep them.

Pleased to hear Mr Corner had his operation, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Have a good day all.

Sar53 Fri 28-Jul-23 09:15:39

Good morning from a grey but muggy Essex coast. Not a lot of summer around here.
Hopefully we will get our car back today after having all the scrapes repaired. DH has been driving a manual car for the last few days but has coped well with it.
I managed to buy a pair of white denim shorts for £8 in a sale yesterday, I wish I had bought the black ones as well. They fit just right.
Onwards and upwards for Mr Corner, love to you both.
I am waiting in for a boiler repair man for a neighbour today. Lets hope he turns up.
Have an enjoyable Friday everyone xxx

Nannagarra Fri 28-Jul-23 09:25:06

A late good morning from Sefton.
I’ve skipped through posters’ names to seek Cornergran’s, keen to learn how yesterday went. Such good news has been given. Excellent.
Our plan to go for a long walk has altered now we’ve checked the calendar. Ooops!
Thinking those who’d welcome a hug and or a hand hold as they face struggles - you know who you are.
However you intend to spend today, I send best wishes.

I hope it is sustained and our dear C is happy and relieved when she sees him later on.

Good morning from a cloudy West York's.good to see mr Corner is comfortable .Enjoy your holiday BlueSaffire. Hope your furniture turns up Harrigran . We are going shopping today taking our neighbour with us. Son and family coming on Sunday they can eat for England so plenty of food needed. 💐to all with illness and worries .

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Jul-23 09:41:33

Morning from S Yorks. it started with sun, but has faded already, alas.
Very bad night, having trouble with meds combinations, night before last I was really sick at 4am.... but I have to heave ho to supermarket and the chemist. Dread our busy chemist.

Gingster, I know those tearooms! From long ago, top fish and chips. (my Sis used to have a place there, but to get there there is the dreaded A14 with slow moving farm and lorry queues)

Cornergran was so pleased to hear the op went well At last . Bests for recovery.

Grey if ant powder isn't working, I don't know what will. Long ago I poured boiling water on but realised the ants just come back to eat their mates.

But days possible for poorlies and enjoy family and outings.
