Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry and cloudy here in brackley this morning.
I did get the bus to Bicester yesterday ,and got a haircut as well.
Saw people I have not seen for awhile as well.
Today maybe similar , I may go to the chippy and get some Fish & Chips as well .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dull Bristol (predictive text always gives me “bristle”!). Hope it’ll be sit-outable for a bit.
Glad to see you’re getting back to normal, Mick.
Quiet yesterday, apart from a vigorous tai chi - well stretched and exercised. It annoys me when the teacher lectures us about ills of our diets, the fact that we take medicines rather than do tai chi for our ailments, etc., but he speaks very softly so I can’t always make out what he says!
I did various bits of admin, wrote some letters, etc. Feel much better for a quiet day. Repeat today…
Hugs and prayers to the cornergrans, Marydolls, Urms and all the other unnamed families in my heart. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday Mick! Not sure what the weather in South Yorkshire is going to do but I will be busy all day - shopping early and food prep for a meal I’m cooking tomorrow. DD et al are now back from their holiday so I expect I shall see them at some point. When I came home from my usual Thursday walk yesterday, I could see that my drive was covered in starlings and sparrows! They were feeding on the ants that are nesting under my front door step. They scattered as I pulled into the drive, and I was sorry to interrupt their feasting as the ants are now becoming an awful nuiscance. The rate they appear to be mining at, I expect the house to collapse at any moment!! I will have to find something better than the ant powder I’ve been using.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Fri 28-Jul-23 06:22:44

Good morning, s somerset feels humid and there will be on and off rain today, just enough for a dampner

A nice satisfying slow mo day yesterday, one of those in which things got done, not noticeably fast but nevertheless, done. I like a bit of this and a bit of that, inside and outside, wherever the mood takes me

Today I plan to go to an NT property, taking my waterproof gardening boots. I fancy a meander under the trees and along the grassy areas. It will be nice to be with nature

Have a good day and am hoping for some positive news from cornergran

Marydoll Fri 28-Jul-23 06:27:48

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C, It is to be rainy, but warm today.

Glad to hear you managed out yesterday Mick, but remember to pace yourself and not do too much too soon. You have had major surgery.

I have been wondering how Mr Corner got on yesterday. 💐

Unfortunately I have been awake since 5am, my lungs are very congested this morning and I am coughing non stop, after doing so well. I sound as if I smoke 60 Woodbines a day! 😁
I wonder if the pollen is high, because I am choked up with a blinding headache.

Today is my last day of covering for the holidaying sacristans, I can't believe I have managed it, albeit feeling pretty exhausted. However, it's a nice tiredness, not that all consuming fatigue. I had said I would take one day at a time and not commit myself to the week.
Being busy and social interaction have done wonders for my mental health.
DH said he had been anxious about me doing too much, but has admitted that I have benefitted from it,

Yesterday the church cleaners were in, some are in their eighties. They are amazing, but no-one dares to get in their way, when they are on a mission!
It was good to chat with them.
The PP asked me to discuss an issue with cleaning of the candlesticks. (He and the chief sacristan are afraid of their wrath) They don't understand that spraying the candlesticks over generously with WD 40, (to prevent wax adhering to the brass) is dangerous because it is highly inflammable, Not only that, our clothes are being splahed with it and the brass is turning green. It has not gone down well, consequently I have named it Candlegate, as opposed to Watergate. 😉
The OP wants to get a team of professional cleaners in, but I think all hell will break loose, if he does that.

Mizuna I have only three pears on my now large tree, less than last year. 😔
GM, I saw a thread about a meet up in the Bristol area, just in case you are interested.
Baubles, I am loving hearing about Oban, which Mr MD refuses to visit, after a traumatic journey on the old Rest And Be Thankful many moons ago!

Wishing you all the best of days and of course candles lit them. for all, who need

Good morning from West Wales where a mainly dry day is forecast🤞🏻

We had a good journey down yesterday. We have brought the children with us.DD2 and B have joined us.They are camping we are not!We ate our fish and chips at the beach last night🥶and then the children spent a happy hour looking for sea creatures and treasure.

Today will be spent mainly at the beach. We will visit DH’s mum this afternoon. His niece will come over to see us at some point.

I hope Mr corner is on the road to recovery and that corner managed some sleep after what must have been a long and stressful day yesterday.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning from a brighter Torbay than of late. We had a humid day yesterday, too, yesterday, karmalady.

I’ve head locals call Bristol “bristle”, grandMattie, so perhaps your predictive text has, too!!

We managed to get through the whole play last night so the director was pleased. Our techie team supplied lighting and sound effects last night, including an explosion, leading one cast member to exclaim,
“You were only supposed to blow the ———- doors off!”

Thoughts with those going through tough times. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Fri 28-Jul-23 06:45:37

Thanks, Md, I’ve registered interest in the meet-up.

cornergran Fri 28-Jul-23 06:48:23

Morning Mick, morning All. A grey and unpromising start to the day.

Mr C’s successful surgery took longer than anticipated as did his stay in recovery. I’ll phone about 7.30 and see him late morning in ICU. Fortunately both sons can act as chauffeur for a couple of days, I’d not trust myself behind a wheel as although sleeping well last night I feel disoriented this morning. I’m sure normal service will resume soon Thank you all for yesterdays kind wishes, there’s been so much support from GN members which is hugely appreciated.

Good to hear you’ve been out and about mick, please do build up gradually. Early days yet. I’m not surprised you’re physically exhausted mary, it is good to hear you feel better though. A similar issue with ants for us greyd, the block paving paths are subsiding because of their mining prowess. We need an ant Pied Pier.

Best be off. Organisation is much needed. Thinking of everyone with worries. Hope today is kind to us all.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton; don't know what the weather will do for the rest of the day here, but as I shall be on my way to Dover it can please itself!
Dover is set to be dry with sunny spells, and bright sunshine as we sail this evening.

Just had tea and toast before I get ready for my pick up this morning. Just my hand luggage to finish; the cases are ready and in the hall. Managed to get my Stugeron yesterday, along with some black tights.

Have a pleasant Friday,.and I hope to post something from on board.

Charleygirl5 Fri 28-Jul-23 06:56:14

Just to let everybody know that corner was able to see Mr.C be wheeled into the theatre suite. It was a long operation and I do not think he was in ITU until around 4 pm. She was not allowed to see him but a member of staff suggested that she and one of her two sons visit today after 11 am.

She went to bed exceptionally early as it had been such a long and stressful day for her. She is staying with her other son.

Mr C can only get better now.

Beechnut Fri 28-Jul-23 06:57:18

Good morning from Severnside. Cloud an blue sky above this morning.

What a warm afternoon it turned out to be. I felt quite sleepy. Must have done wonders for you Mick to be out and about on your regular journey.

I did my shopping yesterday so I shall potter today and hope to do some light garden work.. I made a start on sorting out my bedding two days ago but carrying on with it will keep until a rainy day.

Best wishes to all and hope Mrcorner has had his operation.
💐

Marydoll Fri 28-Jul-23 06:58:53

Good morning Charleygirl, so good to hear from you!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Jul-23 07:03:36

Good morning from a dull South Downs. No rain is forecast though.

Yesterdays pre-op went very well. The unit was calm, quiet and very efficient and I was in and out in less than an hour. Considering the letter said up to 3 hours, I was pleasantly surprised. Now just have to get my blood done, nand then another blood not more than 5 days before the operation. I asked why 5 days etc and nurse said to establish your blood group, but not sure why the 5 days?

Everyone seems ok so far this morning except perhaps marydoll struggling with her chest. Hope some movement helps you to clear it md

Today, I’m free, so not sure yet. Do have to spot clean a couple of patches on the landing and bedroom carpets.

Enjoy your day everyone

baubles Fri 28-Jul-23 07:08:04

Good morning all, it’s looking quite bright here in Argyll.

Yesterday’s outing didn’t go quite as planned as poor DSiL had been felled the previous night by a horrible bout of D&V, probably caused by the lobster he’d eaten that day. DD stayed with him and the littlest child while DH and I took the three girls to the little cinema in Oban to see Barbie. There were a few funny moments although it could have been much shorter. The older two understood the feminist message and discussed it at length afterwards over ice cream in a cafe as we watched the ferry come and go.

Marydoll, sorry for your troubles. I have scary memories of that road and was chatting to DH about it as we passed the Rest and be Thankful viewpoint last weekend on the way up here. I used to close my eyes and pray as my Dad’s old banger spluttered up the hills on the way to Lochgoilhead.

I’m not sure what we’re doing today. First born GC stayed here last night and gave me a lovely facial, who needs a spa.

Thinking of our absent friends. Wishing you all a pleasant day

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Jul-23 07:08:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Cornergran I'm glad to hear from you. All my best to your dh. Ash good that you got through the play. Your story of the explosion made me laugh. Susan have a lovely time with the family. Marydoll your pp needs to realise you never cross the ladies of the church! Greyduster I have a large amount of ants in my path and front garden. I think I've missed the day when the flying ants erupt.
Yesterday I cleaned the boys' bedroom and was pleased with the result. I took the dinosaur decals of the walls and ordered Pokémon ones. It's cheaper than decorating! The toy storage arrived late on and I began to assemble it, but gave up as I need a good light. I had a phone call with a nurse about mum which confirmed she has some delirium still and a degree of cognitive impairment. It wasn't unexpected but still disappointing. They are getting her up more and she had lunch in the dining room which is a huge improvement. I'm an impatient person and am having to slow down my expectations of her recovery.
Today I'll build that blasted storage. I need to nip to Aldi for cake as I have a friend coming round for coffee this afternoon. I'll pick her up as she has macular degeneration and doesn't drive any more. It'll be nice to see her. Years ago, we went on holiday together and both fell in the River Styx. Or rather, she tripped and pulled me down with her. It was high summer in Greece and we dried quickly. Tonight I'll visit mum. Have a good day all

GrannyGravy13 Fri 28-Jul-23 07:08:31

Morning all from an overcast S E Essex.

Good that you are slowly getting back into your normal routine Mick

I had a busy morning yesterday, catching up with laundry and clearing/cleaning the playroom after five little people on Tuesday’s play day. Late afternoon I joined DD and the 8yr old GS at the revamped Oxygen indoor trampoline park. It was full to capacity which at the price I was supposed at, and so noisy.

Today it’s just the 8yr old here whilst DD is at work, might go to the gym not sure yet. Off out to a Thai Restaurant for dinner this evening.

(((Hugs))) to all our friends in need

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

baubles Fri 28-Jul-23 07:09:40

Thanks for the update on MrC Charleygirl.

RosesandLilac Fri 28-Jul-23 07:11:03

Good morning everyone, it’s a rainy start here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Yesterday I dug out the small border under the front window, it was full of day lilies, snails and slugs galore and has been irritating me for sometime so I decided to start from scratch.
I rescued a peony, an agapanthus, a large clump of nerine lilies and the gladioli, dug in lots of compost and started replanting i have a few more plants in pots to add then I will be done! Rather chuffed actually!
More gardening if it’s not raining too much, the weeds are growing faster!
Happy Friday everyone 🌹

baubles Fri 28-Jul-23 07:12:47

I’ve just seen your post Cornergran, my best wishes for your DH.

ginny Fri 28-Jul-23 07:13:11

Good morning. Earlier than usual after an uncomfortable night .
We have three
empty days to fill. Family are all away in various places as are two lots of friends who live near. We can’t decide wether to go out or potter at home. I don’t really fancy wandering in the rain and can’t walk far due to pain.
We’ll see how it goes.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Pittcity Fri 28-Jul-23 07:14:41

Good morning from a cloudy Somerset. Packing up and heading home today after an exhausting week with 2 x dgs. The 12 year old was fine but the 7 year old is a Duracell bunny. We had a great day watching helicopters yesterday. We are dropping them home to their parents for the weekend so we can rest and having them again next week.
Sending hugs to Corner and love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Fri 28-Jul-23 07:18:04

Charleygirl, I did post to say it was lovely to see you on the thread, again. It must disappeared into the ether!
Thanks for the update!

Aldom Fri 28-Jul-23 07:18:45

Cornergran good to hear DH's surgery has been successful.
Keeping you both in my thoughts. flowers

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry and a warm day is forecast.
Good to hear from you Corner, not long now until you can visit your DH, I hope he’s is doing well
Yesterdays plans changed as it was so wet. DGD came round here and we enjoyed playing board games most of the day. Not sure when she’ll be back to finish but we’ll see. Today I’m off to the gym this morning and then meeting up with my pal for coffee later
Have a lovely time on your cruise BlueSapphire and everyone else on holiday - enjoy!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
