Good Morning Friday 4th August 2023

Good morning from Bristol. It is grey, but we are promised high teens, a bit nicer and more summery!
My doctor’s call was very productive. She gave me some drug more suited to my dizzy spells and unconfirmed Meniere’s. I shall be starting today.
Unfortunately, one of the side effects, to start with at least, is headaches. Sadly,ATM, I’m having dreadful ones with my eyes, which I’m having re-tested today…. Not much fun.
I spent the time waiting for the GP’s call, happily fiddling with some “log cabin” patchwork. The trouble with making a “sampler” quilt, is that all the square sizes should be identical. I’ve been having trouble making them identical…. It’ll be bright if nothing else!

Good morning Mick good to hear you’re gaining a little weight and that you’re having a quiet day. I’m having a roofer visit today to give me a quote to fix my loose roof slates I’ve been waiting for months now on my neighbours son to do the job but I can’t hold it off any longer and I’m having a man off Facebook to come quote me for mowing the grass out the back maybe just one or two cuts left before the cold weather but who knows eh . The weather here on the east coast of Fife is very unpredictable at the moment. I’ll be going out with my carer to the local cafe this afternoon for a late lunch followed by a visit to the hole in the wall.

Good morning Mick please to hear that you are getting better.
It’s grey and has been raining here in Oxfordshire.
I have to take a chandelier to get a quote to have it rewired, ‘leave it in my porch’ the chap said, ‘it’s always open’ and ‘of course it’s worth getting it done, it could be worth £1000’
Well I don’t think so and if it is, I don’t want to leave it in your front porch, despite offering photos he insists on seeing it before telling me how much it will cost, .I might not bother, it’s been in the loft for over 20 yrs, but I will get it sorted. One day.
Ironing later, I don’t think we will be going out as it’s wet, so another day of decluttering, I might sort the crockery out, but I need space and a sunny day would be nice so that I could do it in the garden.
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll keep myself occupied.
I feel quite saintly having taken a car load to the tip yesterday, I’ll start to sort out more stuff again today.

Morning Mick, morning All. Sky is clearing over our corner of Somerset.

Mr C is being discharged! I’ll take my usual two hour trip to your city grandmattie and wait with him. So fortunate, our younger son can juggle his day and drive us both home, probably arrive late afternoon/early evening by the time hospital procedures are complete. Mr C is excited. I’ll own to a twinge or two of anxiety, it feels a huge responsibility, but goodness, I’m delighted at the progress. Both surgical procedures have been declared a success, surgeon said they are amazed at progress, we need to build strength now. You have no idea how relieved I am we live in a bungalow. No stairs for me to fret about.

Hope the eye test is helpful grandmattie, good luck with the quilt, love the colours. Pleased for you mick, good to know you are progressing.

Right, this won’t get the baby a new bonnet as my Mum used to say. Wishing you all the best day it can be.

I will be out this morning to remove 5 black bags of de-cluttered items. I used quite some energy this week so will be concentrating on quiet, homely, things today, apart from an exercising walk later and a bit of garden tidying. I am keeping an eye open for slow worms, I hope they are finding good shelter under all my ground cover

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12°, feels cool and is cloudy. Cornergran that's excellent news. They don't have people in hospital for long, do they? GrandMattie your quilts are works of art. Oopsadaisy your chandelier reminds me of the Only Fools and Horses episode where they carefully unscrew one from the ceiling.
Yesterday I had a nice day. I picked up my friend and we met another friend at the local garden centre. We blethered for hours. Both friends have significant health worries and that made me grateful for my ok health. My worries paled into insignificance. Later I visited mum who enjoyed the maltesers I took her and blethered a bit. She has scratched herself quite badly though. I let the nurses know.
Today I have dgs2 for a few hours to let dgs1 have much needed mummy time. He is going to meet up with a friend at ten pin bowling. Dgs2 and I will go for a walk to the swings probably. Macaroni cheese for dinner later. Have a good day all

Good morning on a dry but distinctly cooler day .
Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly today Cornergran and that Mr C manages to tunnel under the wire - pharmacy permitting! Once DH was due to come out of the Royal Free in London and we waited all day for the discharge letter and drugs from pharmacy. The latter had still not appeared by the time it closed and I managed to persuade the Ward sister to let me take him home with the promise that I would return the next day for the drugs (we had enough at home for overnight and next morning) A 60 mile drive in each direction but he was so disappointed at the thought of being stuck in another night….
Not a lot going on here today except book club this afternoon. I managed to gallop through the book finishing it last night and I think I can see why some people rave about it - but not me. Learned a bit about the 1966 Florence floods though. Every day’s a school day.

Good morning, sunny here in Cornwall. Yesterday in my fave charity shop four Roma women were chatting in their Romani language. I'm immensely interested in the language, having read it but never having heard it spoken. A very rare moment.

Today my big Creation paintings are finally beginning to move out, as the first one is being taken to the church to be positioned. After two years, phew. Tonight my daughter and son-in-law arrive for their 'sardine' stay in my little flat. As least there'll be one less canvas to side step around! Meanwhile my granddaughter is coming for the day, presumably to continue slime-making. Life is never boring. Amazing progress Mr C and beautiful patchwork patterns gM!

I need to go to the butcher's this morning then we are meeting DS1 fir lunch.

Then, peace over! Dd1 and family are coming for 2 weeks. Lovely times ahead.

Great news about MrC Relief all round. Glad to hear you are improving Mick.

I have had an awful night, DH said I was screaming with night terrors, this is happening far too often. I suspect that my injections are causing it.
The pain in both shoulders and my hip was excruiating, I couldn't find a position, which didn't hurt and very strong painkilling meds are not giving much relief at the moment. I have the option of increasing them, but I would be like a zombie, if I did so! 🥴
Unfortunately I received a letter yesterday cancelling my next RA appointment, despite my consultant assuring me I would have a face to face one. ☹

Poor DH is golfing, but he hasn't had much sleep, due to me. ☹
I need to go out, but have no desire to do so. Hopefully things will improve as the day goes on.

Yesterday DIL messaged on the family chat that Babydoll's christening date had been changed again.. DD, who is godmother and
SIL commented that for a trivial reason, they couldn't make it. I was ranting to DH that they hadn't a clue how difficult it had been to suit everyone (DD has four sisters) and I was so annoyed.
It turned out, their refusal was a joke to wind me up. DD thought it was so funny. I seem to have lost my sense of humour these days. 😉

This morning I will drive over the border into North Wales to DD1’s house.We will then drive to visit my mum in Cheshire.I have booked a table at the village pub for lunch.DGD will come back with me for a sleepover.As I said yesterday our days are all or nothing.

Brilliant news that Mr C is well enough to come home corner.

I hope the optician visit goes well grandMattie and that you don’t suffer badly with the side effects of the new medication.

Good morning from Severnside. A few dark clouds but the rest is a lovely blue.

I’m going to visit several stores at Cribbs Causeway today to get some things I need. My hall needs painting so I want to get that done while we have the rain over the next few days.

My brother came again yesterday and tried out the new light bulb in my sewing machine. He’s happy and so am I. It’s much brighter.

Hope Mrc discharge goes to plan corner. Being back home does you the world of good.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary damp South Yorkshire. Good to hear you’re feeling better recently Mick, and excellent news about MrC! GS was supposed to be coming over today with his dad, who usually drops him off on his way to work, but he has a meeting out of town first thing so drop off is not possible. It’s okay - it’s too wet for him to cut my grass anyway, which he had volunteered to do. I’m sick of all this rain. I saw a physio at the surgery yesterday who seems to have finally sussed out what is causing the pain in my back (touch wood) but I now have a whole shed load of new exercises to do! I might bake this afternoon.

Good morning from a grey, damp Colchester. Last day of DGS3's stay. We are dropping him at football camp this morning and his Mum will pick him up this afternoon.
I have this morning to change the beds as DS will be home for the weekend and my Sis and BIL are visiting this afternoon. They are staying in a hotel 5 minutes walk from us.
Probably a takeaway or meal out this evening.

Glad Mr Corner is going back to his own bed.

It’s so good to read of your improving health, Mick and that cornergran’s DH is allowed home. I can understand your concerns but at least you’ll be spared the daily commute. Sitting around in a hospital is wearing, too. You’ve been a wonderful support.

The start of your quilt looks gorgeous, grandMattie! An impressive achievement when you’re struggling with your vision.

Yesterday, I received a very helpful phone call from a physician associate (had to research what that meant!) who has prescribed an antibiotic for a UTI which has been hovering for about a week. An over the counter remedy (poor man's Cystopurin!) worked initially but didn’t clear it.

A good rehearsal last night means we can have a rest until Sunday when we have the final Dress Rehearsal before opening night.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry, better than yesterday which was raining most of the day
So pleased to hear Mr C can come home Corner, what lovely news ! I’m sure he’ll be very well looked after
It’s the last full day here with DD1 and DGSs they go home tomorrow. We had a good day out yesterday at the newly revamped Loch Ness experience centre, it was expensive but the DGC enjoyed it. Even though it was a wet day we’d taken a picnic but luckily there was a break in the rain just long enough to have that outside in Drumnadrochit. This morning we’re going to Chanonry Point, one of the local dolphin spotting areas to see if they put in an appearance. Late afternoon we’re all of to DD2s for the evening, the 4 DGC love being together, although it does get a bit boisterous at times!

Good morning everyone from a dry north Kent.

Excellent news about MrC and hope the discharge goes smoothly.

Yesterday started with a panicked phone call from DD in Rhodes saying her dog and house sitter had let her down; they have a five month puppy and a cat and the dog sitter was supposed to be staying at the house to look after them. Apparently she had taken the puppy goodness knows where, hadn’t stayed at the house and the cat was unfed. Eventually she brought the puppy back to the house after several phone calls from DD and DH and I went up to make sure he and the cat were ok. One of DD’s friends has gone above and beyond and taken the puppy to her house to look after where he is having the time of his life being spoiled rotten and DH and I are popping up twice a day to feed and check on the cat.

In between all the drama I had a good catch up with my friend over a coffee.

Today we are meeting up with friends at a nearby seaside pub for lunch which I am looking forward to.

Rained all day yesterday, some of it torrential. My heating came on so I knew it was cool.
Another day of inactivity due to back pain.
Good to hear Mr Corner is being discharged, best wishes for his recovery.
I think my sister is going to ring from Germany this afternoon, it will be a one sided conversation as I have been nowhere and done nothing.

How lovely to have DH home cornergran. I don’t know what surgery he’s had but be warned he will feel every bump in the road coming home, it might be wise to take a pillow so he can hug it against himself (odd thing to suggest but I know from experience!)

As we went into the garden before bed, this big balloon was rising from the sea. Magical . Does anyone know what it’s called?

Dgd1 messaged with a copy of her first feedback from her Uni lecturers. What a shining report ! 🌟. So proud of this quiet, gentle , kind girl who will be an asset to the world of mental health nursing.

Lots of busyness on here today.
Not sure yet what our day looks like but we’ll make the most of our peace and quiet before going ‘home’ sometime at the weekend. Our ‘retreat’ will soon be over but we’ll be back soon 🙏.
