Good Morning Saturday 12th August 2023

Morning all, we are off to DS4 to look after GD (6 yrs old) and GS (3, The Imps partner in crime 🤣) for a couple of hours. Hopefully the weather will be ok as they are outdoors children and they are fortunate to have a large garden with a play area for them.

Then it will be a walk over the road to the butcher’s and pop into our lovely independent Turkish Grocers.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve clouds and some light rain, it’s due to dry up soon and be warm at 21º
So very sad Ash condolences to the family
DH is off to work first thing and then we’re out later to a Celebration of the Centuries event at Fort George nearby. It’s a reenactment event run by Historic Scotland, I don’t think it’s really my thing but DH wants to go.

Good morning Mick and everyone from an increasingly dark Carlisle where it is just starting to rain.

I haven't had time to read all your posts in detail yet but have seen yours Ashcombe, I'm so sad for that poor family and their lost baby.

I had my kidneys ultrasounded yesterday, all fine in spite of all those infections.
Right now I am going out for a drive to a nearby village for local meat and goodies plus a stop off on the way back for my free birthday cake at the garden centre. I've had email reminders that I've not had it yet! Well, I'm trying avoid the temptations of garden centres as I've enough plants for now. It is the bulb buying season now though....

I'll just wish you all a pleasant weekend if possible and go.

But must just say glad to see your post yesterday Urmston. You and Mr Urms are not forgotten.

, it’s amazing how helpful it has been , it gathers rain just from the roof of the greenhouse , the overflow runs over the wall to the bushes at the front and stops the rain puddling around the base
I have one ripening tomato ! It’s a deep orange colour ! I grew these from a packet of mixed varieties that I got in Lidl , so no idea what will be the result

Yesterday DH had his hearing aids fitted what a difference I shall have to watch what I'm saying now he can hear me😀, we were out with friends on the evening and he said it was nice to hear full conversations and not to have to pretend he'd heard.

Ginster you are right ballooning is a wonderful experience I've been up in one 3 times over the Italian Alps.

Morning from sun in S Hants, MrJ has gone to get the paper. We met up with my son and his partner last night for a drink in our local, good to see them. My daughter is having a relaxing break with the children in Menorca, we too are cat feeding monitors Jacs7 until tomorrow when someone else takes over.
Devastating for that family Ashcombe I can’t imagine their grief.

Good morning all. It's another cloudy day on the Angus coast but the sun is making a valiant effort. However there's rain in them thar hills which looks as if it's headed this way.
Ash that is so tragic. That poor family. About 15 years ago DD's friends lost their 2-year-old to cot death, just two days after his second birthday. It's a tragedy that you never recover from.
I too am having a restful time just now karma, on the insistence of my body! My tai chi classes are my only achievement these days - I do enjoy them.
The Balloons sound spectacular Grandmattie, though like others I have never fancied going up in one.
It was lovely to see Urms for a moment yesterday. Be sure to know you are very much in the thoughts and prayers of everybody Urms.
Grandmabatty those two little dgs of yours are quite a handful! My own two boys were rather like that - I always put it down to them being just 15 months apart. The mischief DS1 could get up to while I changed the nappy of DS2 had to be seen to be believed! We all survived though, and they're fine family men - one will become a grandfather soon! Take heart.
Today instead of going into the local town I think I shall go down to Dundee for a foray on the M&S Food Hall for a change. In which case I had better get moving!

I also love the Guido Brunetti series by Donna Leon and if I had to choose between Brunetti and Gamache as my secret crush, it would be a hard choice!

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton. Haven't even been outside yet today and I have already started with an attack of hay-fever, stinging and streaming eyes and nose. Unless it's my cat fur allergy, but the cats are not back from the cattery yet, and I was fine yesterday at home.

A good journey back from Tilbury yesterday; the ship docked at 8am, and I was home at 10.30. Went over to thank my neighbour for looking after the house (and for cutting my front grass!), to find his wife quite poorly, having had to be rushed to hospital earlier in the week to have fluid drained from her lungs. She has been quite ill for some time with cancer, which was being controlled with drugs, but they are fast running out of options. It is so sad.

A quick visit to Sainsbury's yesterday afternoon to pick up some milk and a few essentials; I am awaiting my main shop from Sainsbury's around lunchtime.

Then back to more unpacking - I emptied one suitcase yesterday, and have a load of washing in the machine - I know there is more to come!

Posting some pictures of our sail back on Thursday - on our sail back up the English channel the Captain gave us a treat and sailed very close to the Needles - it felt as though we could touch them!

I said a "see you later" to my cabin as I left it yesterday - I am back on the same ship next April, and have the same cabin again!

Thinking of all those with worries and troubles.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Oxfordshire, yesterday was so hot, hopefully it will be cooler today, the sun is peeping out as I write this.
Ash that is so cruel, the family must be devastated.
Hairdresser didn’t show up yesterday, I texted her and she was ill in bed but forgot to let me know, as she has a second job now I’m not quite sure where that leaves me.
Anyway, we had a good evening with a friend and some people we haven’t seen for a couple of years, it was good to meet up with them again and we hope to make it a regular event. All of the crockery I used came from my ‘stash’ it does look so pretty, I must bring it out more often.
That’s it from me, another pottering day beckons.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
I was so looking forward to my lunch out with my friend but it was disappointing. I am intolerant to chilli and pepper and told them so when booking, ordered sea bass and it arrived with a spicy sauce, waitress told me to just leave the sauce. The water brought to the table was warmer than the food and the waiting staff looked as if they were there under sufferance. Nice idea to eat in a calm atmosphere but won't be repeated.

My sister and BIL will visit this afternoon, he is managing his leg brace which allows him out of the house.

Family are returning home from their London holiday, they have packed so much into the week and even had a reunion with their UCL pals.
Lovely to hear from Urmston, you are in my thoughts constantly.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. All the ironing is done and a quick tidy up now DD2 and GC have gone back to their building site for the weekend. A walk into town seems to be about it and curry this evening. A few phone calls to make.
