Good morning from a sunny Bristol.
The balloons all went up in the early evening, some 50 of them over about 30 minutes. It was very exciting watching them “hatch” before ascending. Some came very close/over DD’s house. As they overlook the Avon gorge, it was easy to watch them at Ashton Court on the other side.
An empty today, except for the church”coffee and chat”.

Good morning from an overcast Cornwall. Today it's coffee and cake with daughter and son-in-law before they catch their train back to Liverpool, then watching England v Columbia in the FIFA quarter finals and after that a trip to the allotment to try to find the owner of the fallen tree. Yesterday I sat on buses to rest my dodgy knee and met some interesting people as I traversed the county. In M&S a barcode was wrong on a falafel salad meal so they gave it to me. I'm sure it tasted even better for being free!

Good morning, Mick, and others who follow from a cloudy but breezy Torbay.

Last night my ex was Front of House Manager at the theatre and we chatted over a drink in the bar. He was just back from attending the funeral of his wife's granddaughter, who had died suddenly, aged three months. It's doubly tragic as the parents had had their final IVF treatment in order to conceive her. They already have a seven year old daughter who is devastated.

I hope to attend the church coffee morning today. Wishing you all a happy weekend; it was good to see a post from Urmstongran yesterday.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is much rain in the forecast. Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you Mick. DS is coming down for an early lunch and is then going to the first Premier League game of the season. I will have a quiet afternoon scanning photos onto my laptop if I can’t get out. GS and I finally finished our gardening chores yesterday and he helped his father skip all the stuff we’d cleared out of the garage. He’s coming over again next week “just to chill with you, Nans.” I’ve promised him we’ll make proper Cornish pasties!

Good morning. I am now on the Isle of Wight and have just heard the smallest DGS on the move. His brother was sick twice on the way and again in the evening. Hope he is ok this morning and it’s not something that the rest of us might catch.
All being well, we will probably try getting on a beach today for a while.

A decent nights sleep again, this healing malarky is going down well. I rest my body, potter the chores and do nice sewing, while not listening to news or radio babble. Good job I am comfy in my own thoughts and have a complicated pattern to decipher. Feeling more energetic this morning although speedy walks won`t be happening if there is any sun, can`t risk that just now

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and very cloudy. Rain is forecast this morning. Ash I can't help thinking of that poor wee baby and her family. How sad. GrandMattie I would love to see those balloons. You couldn't pay me enough to go up in one though!
Yesterday's quiet day changed. I went with DD and the boys to town. I thought it was for coffee but dgs1 was getting a back to nursery haircut. He behaved very badly and dgs2 wasn't happy being pinned on the buggy so I took him for a walk while dd dealt with dgs1 and his shenanigans. I have never seen her so cross! I bought the boys a book and one for me. Once home, I read that book all afternoon and evening. Normally I only read at night in bed, but this book gripped me. Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. It is very clever and beautifully written.
Today I'm having dgs2 for an hour. In between, I'll get the food shopping done and the usual housework. I'll visit mum tonight. Macaroni cheese for dinner I think. Have a good day all

Good morning all from dry but cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday turned out to be warm and sunny in Edinburgh. We decided against walking the children up the Royal Mile to see the street performers as DS put us off saying the crowds were so dense we’d be hard put to push the buggy as well as keeping hold of the other two.
In the end we just did our usual walk through Holyrood Park to the cafe at the Palace which wasn’t too busy.

I’m off to work to see if I can make a dent in the huge pile of donation bags, it’s becoming a little overwhelming as the bags come in thick and fast.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A couple of degrees cooler than yesterday and breezy is the forecast. The wind has started our hayfever again, so the bedding will be tumble dried for comfort despite the expense.
A quiet day which will include watching the England match this morning.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
DH saw the practice nurse yesterday afternoon who has redressed one of his operation sites and it looks so much better. I think it is going to take a long time for both sites to heal.
Today we are going to watch the football this morning. We have a festival on the grass behind the beach today and tomorrow so will visit it later.

Good morning from a bright South Downs.

Seagulls are in fine voice, all the fledglings are now in the air, yesterday I was pottering in the garden and became aware of something looking at me and it was a juvenile starling that had somehow got trapped inside a feeder - how it got in there I have no idea! After gentle manoeuvring I was able to free him and he flew off without even a thank you🙂
Sat knitting in the garden yesterday and watched a hummingbird hawk moth flitting about - brilliant flyers! Apparently the caterpillars eat sweet woodruff (bed hay) of which I have masses - so I don’t know if it is yet warm enough for them to breed in the U.K.?
Son and DIL popped in to show me DIL ankle - still wrapped and stitched, but she is pleased with how it feels. Discussed plans for son’s 50 th - all sounding good, and even better that I have just to turn up🙂

Dinner lamb that we didn’t cook yesterday - too late by time visitors etc had gone and we had had food of a more snacky type with them.

We are having brunch in a while then everyone is off to DD3's house to watch the first match of the day (which is away) I shall take the footie refusniks out for tea and cake.

A full on day with the children yesterday.It was a very warm day so lots of time spent outside.Mud pies were made and grandpa and H successfully made an orca out of a couple of cardboard boxes.DGD made cakes and organised the mud pie cafe!

Today DGD is being collected by her friends mum at lunchtime and then we will take H home later on.It’s been a busy few days with them but enjoyable.They go on holiday tomorrow so with DD2 away as well we have a quieter couple of weeks ahead of us.

So sad Ash.Absolutely heartbreaking for them all.

GM Dh and I went up in a hot air balloon some years ago and it was a wonderful experience 🎈. The landing wasn’t so good as we came down on a golf course and the basket tipped over . I had a rather large man fall on top of me. 😳.

Today I’ll miss the Lionesses play as I’ve booked a seat to watch Oppenheimer. I’ll hop on the train to Southend, have a wander and settle down for the 3 hour film. Anyone seen it?
Dh and ds1 are going to their first footie match together. Dh can’t wait 🤓.

Met up with our Friday pals yesterday and us ladies are thinking of booking a cruise together. The menfolk were encouraging.😉. 🤔. 🛳️.

Good morning, it’s grey skies here too in south Gloucestershire, only 12° at the moment.
Yesterday more weeding was done then I spent several hours getting frustrated with the watercolour work I was doing so it’s gone in the bin. I did try some stencilling with watercolour pencils which was fun.
Today DH is digging out two enormous clumps of crocosmia and a plant with dangling fluffy pink flowers. Together they cover nearly 6’ x 6’ in my small back garden so need to go! They’re both at least 4’ tall so it need brute force I suspect.
A pootling sort of day today I think 🤔
Whitewavemark DH had to free a young starling from one of our seed feeders, we never could work out how it managed to squeeze inside!

Good morning everyone from a sunny and warm north Kent. How lovely to hear from Urms who is often in my thoughts and prayers. A gentle hug from me.

Yesterday was mainly spent with good friends who came for lunch. Although we meet up every five or six weeks we always have plenty to talk about. It was nice as well to sit in the garden and enjoy the fine weather.

Today I shall go with DH to the allotment and strim the paths for him; I am usually taken on a guided tour to see how everything is growing and offer praises and murmurs of wonder and appreciation for all the fresh vegetables he produces.

At some point I shall watch a bit of the football and chew my fingernails again like the rest of us; not been playing their best, so hope they get things together during this match.

DD and family are back from Rhodes later tonight so our cat feeding duties will come to an end; he will be glad to have them all back home although I suspect he was glad of a break from the puppy!

Good morning everyone from an extremely hot Algarve, I thought I’d slept well for a change but I’m already feeling tired again. DH is watering a few precious plots including SiL’s chilli which has just started turning red. Everything else just has to manage until it eventually rains.
SiL is coming back tonight for about a week, it’s always good to see him.

I am abandoning my Saturday café duties to my Brazilian helpers and going foraging in the Pentland hills. I think we'll find lots of mushrooms toadstools although the fungi foray is next month.

The freezer was accidentally unplugged for hours yesterday so some food was lost. It was a chance to see what's in there at least.

Such a tragic story Ash. Poor family.😥

Thinking of all those struggling at this time.

An empty day ahead so may give attention to another kitchen cupboard and/or one of the books on the unread pile. Missing human contact, I think, because weekends are taken up by family and mine are not local.

What a tragedy, Ash. Condolences to the family especially the little girl. 🫂

Good morning all from a very wet and muggy Glasgow.

I've had yet another dreadful night, I think I may sleep in another room tonight, to give DH a break. I suspect my new biologics are starting to kick in, this is all too familiar. I had become very complacent, thinking I had got away with it this time. As my mother would have said, See what thought did!.

Nice to see you popping in you Baggs, although I think if it's anywhere like here, your home should be renamed Soggy Brae. I always love hearing the name of your home. I have a vision of it above the town, surrounded by trees, overlooking the Firth. Probably totally incorrect.

How upsetting to read about the wee baby. DIL lost a much wanted IVF baby early in her pregnancy, there are no words. Life is so cruel.

Well, there was no pram pushing yesterday, much to our disappointment.😪
Yesterday morning, DIL received a letter with an appointment for Babydoll to have two immunisations that afternoon! It appears, some mums didn't receive the letters at all. She looked so cute with two round plasters on her wee, chubby thighs.

We agreed that we would go and look for the elusive fishmongers (we can never find it) at DS', while DIL was at the clinic. Dollie was not amused that we didn't bring her scooter and she had to walk. Much bribery was involved!

Whilst in a queue waiting to pay for DH's liquorice allsorts (there is a bargain shop, which sells them), Dollie decided she needed the loo. We had no idea where the public toilets were. DH had to abandon me and rush her back to DS's. Unfortunately, he left me with the heavy shopping bag.
I was struggling to walk, my legs seemed to have seized up, I was short of breath and the bag was full of rubbish from the bargain shop.
Never mind, I thought, He will come back for me. Did he? Of course he'd didn't, because he never thinks, he was too busy cuddling baby!!!😡
I think I may have used every naughty word in my vocabulary, on my marathon journey back to DS' home.
It is only a five minute walk for normal people, but for me it seemed a lifetime.
DH of course couldn't understand why I was so annoyed with him.
Babydoll is now full of smiles and is beginning to recognise us. 💕💕💕, our visit was delightful and Dollie is so fond of her. She loves playing with her, which is part of my plan to help them bond.
She never sees her cousins on her mother's side.

Today, I plan on doing little. I have a Monsoon dress (a bargain of course) which has been waiting for weeks to have the sleeves altered. This latest fashion for huge billowing sleeves, just makes me look as wide as I am tall.

Good see Urms popping in, but not the circumstances. I must also check up on Kalu.

I have the Vigil Mass tonight, but hopefully not much to do, as church has been closed all week.
The PP arrives back from his break today. He probably has a load of admin for me to do! He has had plenty of thinking time.

Good morning on a sunny but fresher day.
What a sad story Ash losing a child at whatever age is heartbreaking. We lost our first (a boy) at just under 4 weeks and while we would probably not have the three daughters I have today, I still remember those dark days and the pain.
I hope all with sorrows or worries can gain comfort from the love of their families and friends. Can’t say any more, but wish you all a gentle Saturday.
