Good morning from Shropshire where we have heavy rain at the moment.

Today I will finish sorting the box of photos from my mum even if I am up until midnight. It has been a very emotional job and I just want to finish it now.

I hope your visit to your mum goes well today Grandmabatty.A beautiful cake, your daughter is very talented.

That poor family Marydoll and a shock for you hearing the news.

Thoughts with your brother and your friend kitty.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning everyone. We have had rain in the night but dry and cloudy now.
A lot of sad news on here this morning. Thinking of Marydoll, Kitty and of course dear Urms.
Love to all xxx

Good morning all and it’s dreary here in Essex.

Lots of sad news on here this morning. That poor family Marydoll. 🙏.

Mizuna enjoy the tall ships. A wonderful sight.

Today I have my Chimes group which will be fun, we have a new member and an old one (who tries hard but is always a few notes behind) 🤣. We’ll have a laugh anyway!

This afternoon little pooch has her 6 month checkup. She’ll tremble and shake as we head for the vets.

We went to DS1’s for afternoon tea yesterday and enjoyed hearing all about their holiday. Had a chat about a family problem and aired all our views. It’s good to talk things over. Dh doesn’t do ‘chat’ so he kept out of it. 😤.

Ds2’s birthday yesterday so we facetimed him. The family are staying at Sandbanks . I wonder if they’ll see Harry and Sandra (Rednap) . 😉.

I hope all poorlies are on the mend and thoughts are with sad, stressed and worried grans.❤️

Oops sorry kittylester what a shock for your brother, the family must be so worried 💐

Morning penpal 😘👋

Good morning, it is blustery with howling wind in s somerset

Another staying in day for me, probably three more days until I have healed enough to protect from the elements, so pottering it is, again. Luckily I love my crafts and mizuna, I change what I do depending on wear and tear on my hands. Knitting eventually gives me shoulder ache so I hop to a different craft. Felting is nice and easy on the hands. First I ever made was a robin from a kit, bought from world of wool

Dungaree-making today, slow, steady and methodical. I should be able to hand them to dd next weekend.

Good morning from cloudy Sefton.
A quiet day without plans. Thinking of those with difficulties - you know who you are. Urms 💐

EkwaNimitee Mon 14-Aug-23 08:49:41

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright-ish but cloudy Carlisle where rain is forecast for later. It will be a day inside doing housework, get as much as possible out of the way so as, hopefully, to enjoy the better weather due later in the week.

Gardening yesterday was confined to wandering about planning where to put my remaining plants and planning some slight re-organisation. The garden was originally planted up allowing for the eventual theoretical size of the plants. Naturally, in practice, some have under-performed and others have proved rather vigorous, my shrub roses in particular.

Why do some people have to suffer so dreadfully, Marydoll? My thoughts are with your friend and family.

And with you Urms.

Beechnut Mon 14-Aug-23 08:52:12

I don’t think they live at Sandbanks anymore Ginster.

Foxygloves Mon 14-Aug-23 08:59:49

Good morning all although it sounds a sad, if not devastating, one for some.
Life can be wonderful but desperately tragic too. Oddly it made me think of Maureen Lipman’s wise character Aunt Eller in yesterday’s Oklahoma who tries to comfort Laurey in her distress
“ Oh, lots of things happen to folks. Sickness or being poor and hungry, being old and afeared to die. That's the way it is, cradle to grave, and you can stand it. There's just one way: you gotta be hardy. You gotta be. You can't deserve the sweet and tender in life unless'n you're tough.”
I’m meeting some tough people here on GN. Certainly deserving the sweet and tender
It was an added bonus yesterday to meet up with BlueSapphire after the film fresh back from her cruise. We may do this again, I hope, as she like me finds Sundays can be the hardest day of the week on one’s own.
An uplifting afternoon with everybody, I suspect, singing or humming those wonderful songs under their breath. At least I was, and the man in the seat beside me definitely was!
I do hope I get my car back today - first world problem I know, but the responsibility of this shiny new Micra 🚗 is stressful (despite all sorts of other knobs and twiddles I am discovering even apart from the petrol cap, it doesn’t seem to have parking sensors so “neat” parking spaces are a no-no)
Sending kind thoughts to all of you in distress, pain or with worries.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Must carry on practising today for various performances, arrange holiday insurance and tidy up, music and clutter everywhere.
Nice FaceTime with DD in the south yesterday who FaceTimes regularly, often while putting her makeup on for work (giving me a demo😁) She had been to see Barbie, but thought it was overhyped.
My neighbours brought round chocolate biscuits for feeding the cats whilst they were away and I made big inroads into them while watching ‘Becoming Elizabeth’🙄 I’d like to lose a little weight…
Thoughts as always to Kalu Urms and all with troubles of any kind 🌹

brook2704 Mon 14-Aug-23 09:21:30

Urms 💕❤️💕

Good morning all from a mixture of cloud and sunshine on the Angus coast.
A very sad thread today. It's so true, isn't it, that some folks seem to sail serenely through life while others experience such tragedies. Heartfelt thoughts for your friends Marydoll. Also for your brother, Kitty
Lovely of you to pop in Urms - you know how much you are in our thoughts and prayers - Kalu also flowers
Happy Birthday to your mum, Grandmabatty. So sweet of your DD to make that lovely cake for her.
Grandmattie you must feel very safe and secure where you are!
I'm off to Perth today to meet DGD3 for lunch. She's such a caring girl. DancingGD was hoping to come too, but there was a middle-of-the-night WhatsApp from her to say she wasn't feeling well and couldn't sleep and she didn't think she'd manage. (I do hope it's not COVID raising its ugly head again). Needless to say I didn't hear it at the time - once my hearing aids are out I am cut off from everything other than a shake of the shoulder or the vibration pad of my alarm under my pillow! It's a shame - she probably hoped for a comforting chat.
Anyway I had better get moving and get myself ready to go until I hear more.
Enjoy your day as best you can - particularly Ladylfl in Oz x

BlueSapphire Mon 14-Aug-23 09:24:35

Can I say how lovely it was to meet up with Foxygloves yesterday at the cinema
We have vowed to do it again.

Taichinan Mon 14-Aug-23 09:25:54

Lovely and very apt quote Foxy x

Morning from S Lanarkshire, very pleasant and sunny at the moment. In spite of having been awake since just after six, I’ve not got organised enough to get out in time for mass so starting the day feeling mad at myself! To be honest the round trip is a mile walk and I always feel pleased that the exercise is taken care of.

It was good to see your name Urms, it feels a kind of privilege that you trust us enough to share your thoughts.

Your daughter’s cake looks amazing Grandmabatty, thoughtful to make sure your mum has it to share on the day, I hope it makes it a little festive for her.

Your friend’s family is going through a great deal indeed Marydoll, I hope they have support.

Lots of tasks needing done in here so I must take advantage of the time I have today, I feel the need for a list coming on!

Your chimes group always sounds like fun Gingster, how does it work? I’ve never heard of anything like that around here.

Sending good wishes to everyone for a decent day.

Good morning Mick and all from damp and cloudy Lancashire.

Yesterday marked 20 years of living with brain injury. A strange feeling but mostly it prompted me to reflect on all I’ve achieved since then and count my blessings. I received some lovely messages from friends and colleagues. The day passed very quietly. We were both tired after a busy week and the hot muggy weather didn’t help. My shredder gave up the ghost on Friday after many years of faithful service. A new one was duly ordered and hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Today is not as warm and I will get on with more de-junking. MrB has to take the motorbike for it’s MOT this afternoon, hoping that doesn’t take long.

Hope you can get some rest LadyLFL after the wedding excitement. The photos were lovely.

Sorry you’re under par Grandmabatty, you go above and beyond for friends and family. Happy birthday to your mum, hope your visit goes well today.

Shocking news Marydoll, hope your friend recovers, some people have more than their fair share of sorrow.

Sounds like a wonderful outing Bluesapphire and Foxygloves, great that you met up.

There is much sadness in here this morning, hope all manage to find a little peace and happiness today. Thoughts to absent friends 🌻

Good morning from grey day Harrogate
I watched the cycling yesterday Mick it was exciting and the city of Glasgow looked so beautiful especially Kelvingrove Museum and Galleries!
- I love that building, time I went back to see it! Happy birthday 🎂 to GMBatties mum.
How dreadful Marydoll a very difficult time for you.
Have really no plans for today apart from keeping in touch with my school friend and sisters.
Our art club have been approached by an artist to do workshops. I googled him online and have discovered he’s been up for kiddy fiddling! What do we do? He’s hardly going to try it on with a bunch of oldies? But we have to be careful!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning, just, Mick, Annie and all. It is now wet and grey here in our bit if Berks.
I was hoping the weather would stay dry, as it began, with a little sun peeping through.
Some time ago, I sent for a tin of "stuff", to put on our front door, to refresh it and bring back the colour. On opening the parcel, I was confronted by a red disc on the lid, with no idea how to open the wretched thing. You Tube came to my rescue.
I watched the video, and there right at the start, was the tin with the lid showing the disc upright. You had to release either side and pull up, making a little handle. Whoever would have guessed?
Up till now, I haven't had the energy, but have been itching to get at it for the last few days. The conditions have to be right. (Me and the weather)
Well, I did it earlier, and now have to recover with a large coffee, and put my feet up for a while.
The door will have to stay open for a few hours while the "stuff" dries. 🤞
I will now go back and read all the posts.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning from a damp Shropshire.
Just back from our daily walk and we both felt more tired than usual then realised humidity was93% so that explains it.
So sorry to read all the sad news today, sending loving thoughts to all those concerned.
Waiting for my 7 day heart monitor to be delivered, hopefully today. Not looking forward to wearing it but hope it gives some answers to my irregular heart beat.
Not sure the cricket will happen this afternoon,it’s coming from Cardiff so might be rained off. Plenty of knitting though to keep me occupied.
Hope everyone has as nice a day as possible.
