Good morning from Durham. After a day of non stop torrential rain yesterday, it seems a dry, sunny day is in store. My gutters need cleaning as several overflowed.
I’ve felt iffy recently, back and shoulder ache, but I’ve given myself a good talking to and must get back to normal, as I did absolutely nothing and didn’t even go over the doorstep at the weekend. I could get used to it.
Going to see a friend and his wife this morning for coffee - her chemo has been halted - sounds ominous, but I’ll get the full story there.
DGS1 has been very poorly since his return from holiday last Friday - Daddy is off work to look after him. He’s a very thin boy and had hardly eaten since Friday. They’ve got it in hand.
The tall ships came to the Tyne a couple of times. It was very, very busy, but SinL’s parents have an apartment on the quayside, so we had a magnificent view of all the boats from their balconies.
Thinking of Urms posting a little, whilst wearing that T-shirt a few of us have worn before 💐.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from a sunny North Leicestershire.

Thank you all for the good wishes for my brother. He has an MRI today.

We still have 2 dgds here and we are still clearing the kitchen.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Music club today, my backings are ready for my songs and after that I will do a supermarket stuff as running low.
Tried to fix up holiday insurance yesterday but was told I had already done it after cancelling a trip in June.
Started the book club read and to my surprise, I am enjoying it. Not the sort of book I would normally choose. I worked out if I read nine pages a day, that will take me to the date of the meeting, but doubt if it will work out as neatly as that.

Gm I have a v efficient DD and after my DH died, found myself with new beige furniture and I’m not a beige person at all.😁
Lovely pics, jolly in Cornwall and thoughts to all with troubles 🌹

brook2704 Tue 15-Aug-23 07:54:15

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit grey and cloudy but warm
Lovely pictures mizuna and llfl thanks for sharing
Yesterdays plans changed, my gym classes were cancelled as the instructor was poorly so I had a lovely catch up and coffee with my pal instead. Today I’m going to the hairdressers for a much needed colour and tidy up. It’s back to school here today for the DGC, but we’re not on school pick up duties just yet.
Hoping your DGS feels a bit better soon georgesgran and you too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a bright Black Country.

Travelled home yesterday, the M5 from Junc 25 to past Bristol was very slow moving, sheer volume of traffic! It was raining as we hooked up caravan, and very misty in Lyme, but mist cleared as we travelled inland.

Love to go away, but very glad to be home.

Gym this morning, then sort out clothes for washing.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning all and it’s bright and very still here in Essex. Blustery wind yesterday but little rain.

Auntieflo I have that self-same ‘stuff’ to refresh the front door. I’ve been meaning to do it so after you mentioned yours, I found it in the shed. Good job you told us how to open it. I wouldnt have had a clue! 😣. Thanks!

Stillearning our chimes group leader sorts out music for us to play and we each have a sheet with our notes on, which we (should) play at the correct time.🤣. I’ll send a pic of the chimes. You don’t need to read music or be musical, but it does help. 😬.

Ash that restaurant looks amazing. Enjoy.

Juliee what a journey! Have a lovely time with your D.

This morning I am meeting my ‘old’ pal for coffee. We meet half way, so I’ll hop on the train. Only a couple of stops but saves finding a parking spot and the hassle of driving. Always busy round here.
This afternoon I have Bridge Club.

DS2 and family had a busy day in London yesterday for joint birthdays. Climbing the O2, River rocket trip, authentic Japanese restaurant and finally Wizard of Oz. Pic of the climb.
I did it about 5 years ago and it was tough. I had done the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb and thought the O2 would be a doddle in comparison. NO! Very steep and like walking on a trampoline. 🥵.

Hope all yours days are gentle.🌻

It’s the Falcon’s Nest.
Same group as The Church Mouse, but it’s near Gosforth Park.
Paul was their best man. Daisy is his daughter - she’s 6.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12°C and cloudy.

Llfl, my tablet keeps reverting to old GN posts. Apparently you are in Vienna!! I was trying to work out how you got from Sydney to Vienna so quickly! 😂

I had a very busy day yesterday, with the two funerals.
The first one had hardly any mourners, it made me quite sad.
When my pal, the sacristan and I were having a chat a cuppa (and scones made by me at 7am) with the housekeeper between funerals and talking about the fact that you will never see who comes to your own funeral. I advised my friend that I want the full team of sacristans on the altar, with incense etc!😉
I met an old priest friend and his friend a fellow priest. I hadn't seen the priest's friend in 28 years. He hadn't changed a bit!
I cannot believe how long I have been sacristan, it must be over thirty years.

Mizuna, I really envy, where you stay!.
Ash, its good to hear the play is a roaring success.
GM, its your home and you have to live in it. Choose what you want to keep.

I need to get a move on. We have Dollie for most of the day and she will be here early in her jammies, her mum has to work at a college event. We have no idea what we will do, but have been warned not to tire her out. The schools here go back tomorrow! It suits me, I'm experiencing indicators that my heart is struggling again, my own fault! She has requested a Macdonald's Happy Meal, which means papa will be forced to have a meal too. He can't abide Macdonald's. 🤣

Have a good day folks, I will catch up properly later.

cornergran Tue 15-Aug-23 08:08:46

Morning Mick, morning All. A clearing sky over our corner of Somerset.

A visit to the physio yesterday found Mr C having a stern lecture on the benefits of taking recovery slowly and listening to his wife! Somehow we need to bridge the gulf between what his head wants to do and what his body actually can achieve.

I seem to hardly sit down at the moment, I try but sadly often fail to read everyone’s news. My best wishes to all, especially those with health or life worries for themselves or loved ones.

karmalady Tue 15-Aug-23 08:09:51

Good morning from a very sunny s somerset

I detect a more upbeat tone to the thread today and it is infectious. I want to be outside today and will do some titivating in my garden, always mindful of not getting sun uv on my nose, which is still at early healing stage.

At last, the exercise mojo has returned and I am planning a brisk local uphill march after 6 this evening.

Have a good day

Marydoll Tue 15-Aug-23 08:12:46

I knew I had forgotten something. I was glad to see Urms posting yesterday. 💐

Taichinan Tue 15-Aug-23 08:27:02

Good morning Mick and all. I'm basking in the sunlight shining through the patio doors which need cleaning on the Angus coast.
Had a lovely lunch with DGD3 and her boyfriend in Perth yesterday. They're a lovely couple - but so young! He was 18 just last week and she is 17. I wish they were older - I'd have my wedding hat out!!
It was too hot for me in Perth, or maybe I became too fatigued, so I had to give up my planned meander round the shops and come home to flop. The traffic was very heavy yesterday too, which I suppose added to my tiredness, so the drive wasn't as lovely as it usually is.
To day is tai chi and my usual visit to the fish shop and greengrocer - living the high life!
Love the tall ships Mizuna - though I don't envy you the 80,000 visitors! I had a friend who used to crew on the tall ships for one voyage per summer - she loved it - and they put into port here a few years back. Beautiful.
Juliee that was some journey! Have a lovely time with your DD in Denmark.
Glad the little boys were little angels for you yesterday Grandmabatty, but sorry your mum was unaware of her birthday. So sad.
Grandmattie I think a subtle rearrangement of furniture may be in order at a future date!
Have a good day everyone and make the most of the sunshine. flowers to those in need and in my thoughts x

Jaxjacky Tue 15-Aug-23 08:29:46

Morning from bright sun in S Hants, good viewing weather ginny.
What a journey Juliee enjoy Denmark.
Your play sounds a great success Ash how gratifying.
Memories of a rainforest trip from Port Douglas llfl thank you.
Yesterday we both had a txt to book flu and Covid booster jabs, so I’ll do mine today. Quiz was fun as usual last night, two new teams, we didn’t win, but lots of laughter.
Later I’m off to the farm shop, MrJ will cut the grass and we’ve weekend leftovers for dinner.

Taichinan Tue 15-Aug-23 08:33:52

Thanks for the photo of the chimes gingster - had envisaged them as handbells, or even the full bells on ropes! Do they have a similar sound to handbells?

Sar53 Tue 15-Aug-23 08:43:22

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
I will catch up with all the previous posts later.
No plans today apart from watching the football this morning.
DH is still in pain but did sleep all night so hopefully on the mend.
Have a lovely day everyone and I hope you all have some sunshine in your lives xxx

Jacs7 Tue 15-Aug-23 08:51:23

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny north Kent.

Nothing much planned for today. Need to drive over to a nearby town with DH to collect my car after its service and MOT. Will collect some more washing from DD’s to dry in my tumbler dryer as hers has broken although I think it will go out on the line as it should be a good drying day.

Will probably do a bit of weeding and dead heading in the garden this afternoon; things just starting to be past their best.

Hope you all have a good day.

Gwenisgreat Tue 15-Aug-23 08:59:02

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate. When we lived near Aberdeen we used to go to the harbour to see the tall ships, I remember seeing Terry Wogan there. The city made quite a festival of it we took a helicopter flight over Aberdeen, there were also steam traction engines around, some fairground and some industrial. The event was finished off with fireworks. They were at 10.30 pm when it was just getting dark in the granite city.
It is your home GrandMattie you must keep it as you want!
DH has gone to the hospital for some tests he wants me to pick him up! But never wants me to drive the car!!!
Seem to have had words with my DD2 who appears to be no longer speaking to me! It hurts, but will blow over.
Have the best day possible folks.

harrigran Tue 15-Aug-23 09:01:12

Good morning from a bright NE where it is raining too, must be cool because the heating is on.
Yesterday was horrible, torrential rain all day and had to have the lights on.
Spent the day washing and ironing holiday clothes.
It is DD and SIL'S anniversary today, they have been married 31 years.
DS is going to drop in after work, he is bringing GD'S violin to leave in my music room so that DD can play it while she is on holiday.
We are experiencing a lot of crime on our estate at present. The first few reports were of garden furniture stolen, then there were several incidences of men in balaclavas attempting to enter houses. Yesterday cars were stolen off drives, I thought they might have been keyless but apparently not, they actually entered the house and stole the keys.
Have a good day.

Georgesgran Tue 15-Aug-23 09:01:30

There must be magic afoot!!!
I’ve no idea how a message I sent to a friend appeared on this thread. X

EkwaNimitee Tue 15-Aug-23 09:02:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where the clouds are clearing and the sun is starting to shine. Yesterday it rained heavily from midday onwards but no wind.
Today I hope to finish off most of the week's necessary housework as I'm expecting/hoping for a short notice medical appointment.
Then it will be carrying on with finishing the reading of my accumulating magazines plus giving thoughts to which books could go to the charity book shop. I think there's lots which I won't read again even if I reach my centenary...top of my bucket list that!

Have the best possible day all of you.

Grannyme6 Tue 15-Aug-23 09:08:17

A late good morning from me.
Off to the opticians this morning to collect new glasses, the first time with distance glasses for driving. Then a gentle tennis session this afternoon, looking forward to that.
Wishing you all a good day, and special thoughts to those with ongoing worries. 💐

Wyllow3 Tue 15-Aug-23 09:13:44

a late good morning from a mixed sky in S Yorks. I woke up early so went for a swim as I have a zoom at 10.30m.

Love the pictures: those ships are quite something.

Bests for poorlies (and MrCornergran taking care) and may outings and domestics and gardening go well.

Good morning from an overcast Co Armagh, yesterday was a lovely day , I sat outside for a while
DD was weeding and I felt guilty , but she said if I got down to weed she wasn’t going to haul me back up !
My chum called , she isn’t coming on our Coach trip , she isn’t well enough , I’ll miss her , it’s in two weeks time
Off to Mass , candles will be lit
