Doug won’t be arriving later but the Dog will.
Terrible relationship with DIL - am I the problem?
When is Amol Rajan leaving the Today programme please?
A brighter start here in brackley this morning , here in brackley .
Today another recovery day , will be watching the Vuelta cycle race on TV later though .
Otherwise have a Wiltshire Farm meal later , as these seem to be benefitting my system as there just the right amount for me.
Take Care,
Mick
PS I got a new rubber shower mat yesterday average price around £6-7 but in B & M just under £3.
Doug won’t be arriving later but the Dog will.
Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
Birthday wishes to Urms 🥂🎂💐.
Sago your trip sounds amazing the authentic Spain version non touristy, and such lovely photos.
Marydoll take it easy.
Will start a new book today no other plans unless DH has other ideas.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning Mick and all. It's sunshine and showers on the Angus coast - very like yesterday, but cooler I think.
Glad all continues to go well with you Mick and the Wiltshire Farmfoods suit you.
Happy Birthday to Urms.
How interesting sago, and how amazingly different communities are the world over. I thought when I first saw your photo that you'd chanced on some sort of protest! What you found was much more intriguing.
I had a lovely chat with my gardener and his grandson yesterday. The grandson is now a Prefect at school and Grandad was positively bursting with pride - so lovely.
DS2 sent photos from their first trip out with their new caravan - what a beauty it is. Small but perfectly formed. He says it's surprisingly spacious for a bedsit!
Nothing planned here - although the kitchen should have more than a quick wipe-round I suppose, and there's always ironing. But there's also a good book to finish - Gillian McAllister's 'Just Another Missing Person', and a pondful of goldfish to watch..........
Have a lovely day everyone, whether home or away, and I hope the sick and poorly feel better x
After a very wet night the sun is shining and I am hoping the rain stays away to allow a garden visit this afternoon, the only event planned for this bank holiday weekend. Church in our own village first, though.
Birthday greetings, Urmston and hope you feel better as the day wears on, Marydoll.
Good morning all and yes it does feel autumnal. Lovely!
Yesterday was great meeting up with my two ‘old’ pals. We found a different restaurant which was very nice , apart from the party going on overhead. The music was loud but it was the bass that drowned us out. We’ll go again mid week (no parties I hope). We went into the restaurant in lovely sunshine but soon the black clouds appeared and the rain was torrential . By the time we emerged it was sunny again! Lucky us!
Today we have ds1 and DIL coming for a coffee. The gd’s will still be in bed 😴😴. GD2 was 17 yesterday so is looking forward to driving lessons. They are hard to come by and booking the test is almost impossible.
Happy birthday Urms - enjoy your day. 🎂
Marydoll hope your day improves 🙏.
Sago your holiday sounds so interesting.
Hoping you all have a gentle day 🌻
Good morning from a dry NE at present but thunder forecast for later.
The heating is on as it is on.y 11 degrees outside.
Lovely catch up with my sister yesterday, she brought me some bread, milk and a newspaper so I could have a sandwich and a cup of tea.
DD and SIL are coming today but don't know what I will do about dinner, DD is expecting a delivery here and hasn't told me what time yet. May have to look in the freezer.
Happy Birthday Urmston 💐
Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather dull Carlisle.
Yesterday I popped over to Sainsbury's for bits and bobs whilst the centre was still quiet. We have a Continental market this weekend but as it seems to be all food stalls these days, I'm not interested. Popular with a lot of folk though.
Later I had a long phone chat with my sister, and in the afternoon started a sort through my clothing, of which there is too much! Some of it bought 'in case' and I always seem to need to buy something new for a holiday.
Today, not much though I will continue with the closet sorting.
Ronda is an interesting place Sago though it has a sad Civil War history.
Happy birthday to you Urms.
And have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud but it’s dry
A very Happy Birthday Urms thinking of you today ❤️ 💐❤️💐
We arrived safely home last night after a good trip. We’ve had a lovely time away but it’s always good to get back home. I’m looking forward to our regular Sunday catch up call with DS soon and then out for some food shopping and a potter in the garden if it stays dry.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad night marydoll hope you’re feeling a bit better soon
Beautiful pictures ginny I remember once going to Symonds Yat and it’s stayed in my memory as such a lovely place
How lovely yesterday Beechnut
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
oopsadaisy 😂😂 I worked out that Doug was the name of the dog! As 'dug' is a Scottish pronunciation of 'dog' I thought it was an appropriately clever name 😁
Ash thank you for your update. I am in awe of anyone who drives abroad. 😊
Good morning all from sunny but fresher Foxyland.
The aforementioned Foxyhound had me up in the night - no doubt a cat dared to walk along a fence four gardens away, but a hound does have to maintain standards. That was it for me, I was awake every hour thereafter and being one of those whom never misses an opportunity for a “wee visit” (pun intended) that’s what I did. Hound slept through it of course.
I’ve been reading some of the online tributes to my BIL and have been moved by this side of a man I hardly knew- sociable, gregarious, generous and widely read. I think he and DH might have found they had more in common than they thought if they had ever really got to know each other. We are having a family Zoom celebration of his life on Tuesday stretching from Canada to Australia to China and to here in the U.K. and I will see my sister and BIL’s family, in some cases, for the first time.
Warmest birthday wishes to Urmstongran , I hope cake and fizz will feature somewhere in your day!
Kittylester far be it from me to say I told you so, but I did! When our kitchen was out of action for nearly 3 months I thought a life of luxury ready meals interspersed with eating out would be heaven - it palled very quickly though.
Marydoll and Ashcombe please take things gently and look after yourselves. Wishing you all a pleasant day
You did foxy!!
Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country.
It was a pleasant sunny morning yesterday, and my friend rang suggesting a walk to the park. Sat having a coffee outside when her DIL walked by with her new grandson. So had a chat to her and then walked back via town to Tesco. The heavens opened just after I arrived home, so we were lucky.
No real plans today, gym this morning then carry on with my book Lessons in Chemistry. Family gathering tomorrow for my Brothers birthday. So making a Biscoff cheesecake this afternoon to take.
Wishing Urms happy birthday wishes and love
Greetings from a sunny Suffolk and a late good morning from me. I woke at about 6.30am ,turned over and the next thing I knew it was 8.25pm. Just enjoying my first cuppa of the day, always the best and especially if made by DH.
Going to enjoy what I think will be the last strawberries of summer on our porridge before moving on to plums and greengages( bought from our local greengrocer not grown by us).
Apart from making a cake, possibly date and walnut, I’m looking forward to a quiet peaceful day of reading. I’ve got 2 novels by Anne Tyler to enjoy as well as the weekend papers and DH always cooks dinner on Sunday so feel blessed to be able to enjoy a lazy day.
Hope dear Urms has a relaxing birthday and those feeling unwell or with worries find some peace.
A late good morning from Sefton. Still tired after a very disturbed night. Still raining. Feels cool. DS 2 & his little family here for a late lunch. Must get up. Will have to catch up with all your busyness later.
Hope this holiday weekend is being kind to you all.
Good morning from the East Yorkshire countryside. It’s bright and sunny but with an autumnal chill in the air.
We have friends coming over this afternoon as there is some entertainment on today in the courtyard. Looking forward to that as I’m friends with the wife and DH gets on well with the husband and we’ve been arranging a get together for ages and not got round to it. Hoping it stays dry.
Wishing dear Urmston a very Happy birthday 🎂💐🍾
Happy Birthday, Urmstongran 🎂💐🍾
A late good morning from a sunny S Hants, the rain started yesterday just as we all sat out for bbq, thunder and lightning meant a quick retreat indoors, soggy sausages anyone?
Loving your road trip Sago; Symonds Yat was my first honeymoon ginny it rained, a lot, a sign maybe.
We love the NF WWM2, it has childhood memories of picnics with the Primus stove and we’re only 12 or so miles away now.
No plans today, apart from the 100 final later after running the grandchildren home, then meat draw in the pub.
May you have a peaceful birthday Urms 🎂🎈
🦩🦩
Good morning from a sunny Essex coast. I can see the sun sparkling on the water, a lovely sight.
DH will go out for croissants a bit later then a drink at the yacht club at lunchtime.
A lazy day.
A Happy Birthday to Urms, thinking of you and your DH.
Here's hoping a good Sunday is had by all xxx
Good morning from sunny Colchester. 20° with possible rain later is the forecast.
We were late to bed after a BBQ with friends. We sat outside and it got quite chilly but the forecast rain passed us by.
A quiet Sunday dealing with the washing up and eating the leftovers....why do we always make too much and never learn our lesson?
Happy Birthday Urms and love to all 🦩 x
Good morning Michael and all GNs. I am late on parade this morning, must have been tired last night! DS is coming down this morning for an early Premier League match - timings are all over the place these days. He will shoot off after a bacon sandwich and then stay for a roast dinner later when DD and the menfolk will be here. She is running a gruelling fell race this morning. We’ve had a lot of rain so the ground will be poor.
Hope Mr C feels better today, Corner.
Happy Birthday Urms🎂💐!
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I've slept long and well but am aching as though I've run a marathon. I haven't Perhaps I did have covid and this is the aftermath.
Sorry you aren't well Marydoll
Today we will sing in the church where DH is memorialised.
My Helpers may come too. They finished painting my bathroom and cycled off to the seaside together. I don't think it's a romance.
I was at the Gaelic café yesterday and ofcourse was asked how I'd got on at the Gaelic college in Skye. I suddenly forgot everything I have ever learnt.
Your Spanish trip sounds wonderful sago Do you share the driving?
When we went to the Pyrenees each year we shared the driving and stopped at least once at a campsite en route.
Now I hardly drive at all as I await my cataract operation.
Can you have a makeshift kitchen elsewhere in the house Kitty ? I had to do that when mine was being gutted 2 years ago. Baked potato in the microwave -often!
Have a happy birthday Urms
Good morning all from bright Harrogate
You seem to be having some wonderful experiences in Spain Sago.
Yesterday was very tiring sitting around selling very little at the exhibition- Hope it’s more successful today. I shall be going to church ( not my usual church) we are sharing churches with another on the same street ). It will be a quick dash, probably before the service is over to to my church to open up ready for visitors - hoping some come. Home by two and back for 3pm to pick up the unsold paintings! Then back home and flake out!
May I wish you the very best of days today, Urms. Hugs and prayers.
Good morning everyone from a still grey Northampton, but the sun is.trying to peep through. I managed to avoid any showers yesterday on my trip out to Rushden Lakes. It was busy as usual there yesterday, and I had a good mooch around the shops, as well as a nice Italian lunch and wine. I tried a couple of dresses on, but wasn't struck by either of them, and came home empty-handed.
The rest of the Bank Holiday weekend stretches ahead, with no real plans to spend it other than on my own. Have no idea what family are doing. I may go to the cinema this afternoon, as there is an Agatha Christie film on (with Peter Ustinov as Poirot) that I haven't seen before. It will fill a few hours.
Wishing all a pleasant Sunday,.especially Urms, happy b
irthday!
