So basically, apart from a tiny minority, we all make our own chicken stock!

MD, when my 8 year old GS showed interest in my sewing machine, I got him to make a very simple pinafore dress for his baby sister. Only three seams and the facings. He was inordinately proud of himself!

Good morning everyone from north Wales where I am sitting on the patio of our lodge bathed in sunshine and admiring the view across the valley.

We had a good journey from Cheshire with a stop at Rhyl for a wander along the promenade with a very welcome ice cream. The sea front was quite busy with families enjoying the weather before the schools go back.

Today we are off to Bodnant Gardens which is close to where we are staying. Last time we visited was nearly forty years ago when DS was a toddler and DD was in a pushchair; now they are 43 and 40!

Yesterday was a good day of doing very little apart from reading. Today will be much the same. I haven’t read the thread yet, will do that now and catch up with your news.

Beautiful day here yesterday, we had a lovely walk in Crieff along the River Earn it is called Lady Mary's walk and is an easy shaded walk with the river flowing gently by. It is popular with all ages but was really quiet yesterday. Isn't it lovely to put washing out and not continually be checking for rain. Another walk today but not sure where yet. Marydoll there is nothing like a child cuddling in they grow up too fast.

Good morning from Durham. Yesterday flew by - I’m sure the DD’s didn’t know it should’ve been my anniversary, so I’m pleased it was ‘ignored’ and not dwelt on. Thank you GN’s though for your thoughts. Had coffee with a friend, spent the afternoon with DD2 and DGS2, had a nail appointment at 5pm, then popped in to see DD1 and her family on the way home. DD2 had an enormous bag of laundry for me - first load on the line and almost dried.
I’m actually hoping for a quiet day today, but as DD2 is on her own, I think she might call in later with DGS2 - it’s a glorious day and I’ve a new bag of sand for the sandpit for him to throw everywhere. Another mozzy favourite here - is it one’s blood group that’s the attraction?
So pleased some poorlies are seeing the NHS at its best.

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Lucky for me I don’t enjoy good skin and the and mosquitoes never come near!
Yesterday I did a wash - mainly navy and a tissue had been left in a pocket!! Guess how I spent the afternoon? It was not fun!! Today, church, then must try to repair the painting that got damaged in last weekends exhibition. Then start putting thing aside for going to Scarborough midweek.

I read a tip for this and it works! Put two dispersible aspirin in and repeat wash. Goodness knows how but tissue bits will be gone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton. Slept in this morning so am much later than usual, plus I have had a cat on my knee which makes writing this very difficult.

A lovely sunny afternoon at rugby yeaterday, brilliant atmosphere and lovely to see DD and DS-in-law again. I shall move swiftly over the result... There was a lovely soprano singer before the match and during half-time, singing the usual rugby anthems, and I realised that she had been one of the guest entertainers on my cruise! We then had a lovely tapas meal afterwards and was dropped off at home feeling absolutely stuffed!

A lazy morning, then out in the garden this afternoon to do some.general tidying up and weeding.
Roast chicken for dinner tonight.

Good morning Mick and all from an Angus coast for which my BBC weather app has been promising - is still promising - a day of cloudless blue skies and sunshine. I look out of the window and what do I see? Grey cloud! So I'm sitting here sulking, still in my dressing gown, until I find out what sort of day I'm dressing for. Grrr.
Thank you all for your kind comments and yesterday. 29 years is a long time and I no longer feel the pain, just the sadness.
I've been chuckling at 'the chicken stock saga' this morning. I used to make mine from the carcass too, but I never have one these days so use those excellent little stock pots.
I had a great natter with Lovely Gardener yesterday. I was asking him if I owed him anything for all the wild flower seeds he's been scattering but it turns out that he collects seeds in the autumn and dries them over winter ready to be sown 'in pastures new' the next year. The attached photos are of some of the blooms. What a gem that man is. And that's my type of garden - all shrubs, trees, bushes and now wild flowers.
We were also doing a bit of the 'old folks reminiscing' so I said to his grandson helper (who is now a perfect Prefect at school) that I hoped he would remember all these words of of wisdom he was hearing. I was treated to a wry lopsided grin by way of answer. I then went on to describe my mother and grandmother complaining bitterly about 'the young people of today' (1960s) and the awful state of the world, to which I had retorted that it was their generation who had made the world what it was and my generation who would be picking up the pieces. Perfect Prefect said "Ah. I'll be remembering that one"!
Strange goings on with WhatsApp grandmattie and oops. My answer to any phone type shenanigans is to switch it off for a couple of minutes and then when it comes back on all is usually sorted. There's no end to my technical know-how 😉😁
Glad MrC is receiving treatment following his scary episode. I do hope the backward steps will decrease and his recovery now will be speedy.
I am now sitting by open garden room doors in the sunshine (ignoring the clouds in the cloudless sky) so will skip off to don sunny-day layers. Enjoy your day everyone. Life is made up of a series of Now's, so enjoy each one of yours x

Like you Scapa, I will be hanging out washing without fear of a 5min. shower soaking it again. Small pleasures.

I still make stock from a chicken carcass. Delicious soups for winter, Cock-a-Leekie being an all round favourite.

Good morning from coastal West Sussex where the sky is blue. Following on from DH, I tested +ve for Covid yesterday morning. I had a horrible day but a bit better today. DH seems a lot better today. We should have been going to pick up DGD1’s stuff to take to university. Her parents will have a car load too. We decided they will leave it ready for us to collect, maybe tomorrow. We will keep ourselves to ourselves until the currently recommended five days from symptoms starting - we will be in the campervan and stocked up with food and drink.

I’m enjoying all the photos of gardens and holidays, and Matt, of course.

Good morning all from Eden[the river ]I haven't passed over yet. We have a lovely sunny morning and Dh has taken himself off for a walk before returning to tackle Sunday lunch. I'm still layed up with the moon boot. The stairs and spindles are taking a battering as I try to negotiate them.
Facetime with DD2 this afternoon to decide on GD,s birthday present.
Maybe a drink in the garden if the sun stays out.

We had a really nice anniversary day, just really doing ordinary, peaceful things. DD and SIL came over in the late afternoon, bring with them curries etc. We provided the pud, c/o good old Waitrose. There was wine, but that was only drunk by us. Small glasses each.
This morning, for some reason, I don't feel too good., although we did go to Church. Came home and DH made me a restorative coffee. I shall rest, feet up, and be a lady of leisure for the rest of the day.

The mention of "chicken soup" reminds me of the time I always used to make it, and at Christmas( sorry) DD shouting out, " do you want the turkey carcass?" No more though now.

Well done Greyduster, for finding an easier way down from your walk. We did a similar thing in Switzerland, many years ago, and I was never so glad to see civilisation at the end of our walk.

Good afternoon from my local library which I’m visiting to use the WiFi as ours disappeared yesterday morning. An engineer isn’t coming til Tuesday and I find using my phone to type anything too tedious( I have quite an old iPhone with a smallish screen…. Nothing like the ones which seem to be almost as big as my iPad!

I haven’t yet read all your doings but,scrolling through,was so pleased to see Matt’s cartoons from Urms and to know that she felt up to sharing them.

Thinking of all with worries and unhappiness and delighted that many are having lovely holidays and family gatherings.

It is DGD2’s 16th birthday today but,as they live in Bristol,we aren’t seeing her today. Can remember so clearly the day she was born and our visit to see this beautiful baby a couple of days later.
