Good morning from a very sunny Eden.
I am waiting to see if some GC have gone to school, the older one has definitely not as their head was on the radio yesterday talking about the state of the school and who knows when it will open.
We've been awake half the night as it was so unusually hot.
Big panic late last night as I could not find the card I had bought for GD in a few days time, so hopefully Amazon will do it's stuff, and then I'll find it in some obvious place!
Thinking of everyone and their relatives with health problems, I abandoned the black boot yesterday and promptly fell over a threshold.
Really glad SAGO's family had lovely wedding and they are not caught up in the Spanish floods, keep the photos coming I think quite a few of us could do with a holiday.
DH is off to the hills while the sun shines. I'll put my foot up and rest.
Best wishes to all.Bella.sunshine

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, where it is currently 20°C .

Yesterday was too hot to get on with the reorganisation, so I had a pleasant stroll and watched the water instead. No real plans for today, we’ll see how it goes. I love the heat, it gets rid of my aches and pains. My sympathies to those who struggle with it.

Glad your DH’s surgery is over Ash, hope the results are good.

Have a good day all whatever you’re doing🌻

Morning all looks like another lovely day. Towels nearly finished washing I have to wash when it is good weather as can get it dried outside with no worries about rain. Enjoyed coffee and catch up yesterday with SiL she has a couple of broken ribs after a fall but is improving slowly. New fridge delivered promptly yesterday so has been sitting to stabilize or whatever it needs to do so will transfer food this morning. A walk in the afternoon if not too hot. Good wishes to all the poorlies.

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Managed to sneak in much earlier today, as I am going out and meeting friends for coffee mid morning.
Am sending a photo of the Morning Glory that has twined itself around the front garden hose pipe, but is so beautiful. It is the best it's been this year, and has spread across a path. It's seeds must disperse with a bang.
Best wishes to Ashcombes DH.
Dear Marydoll, I do so sympathise. I had two days where I could hardly so anything. These days come on suddenly and there is absolutely nothing to be done, but sleep it away.
Thoughts to Urms, and Kalu and all who are poorly.
To those who have Covid flowers, Our GD, who has recently started a new job, has been struck again, and is miserable.
Off to sort myself out, so have a good day one and all.

Grammaretto Tue 05-Sept-23 09:33:09

Thankyou Stilllearning smile
I shared his DM's post so felt it was ok to boast! DGS has extraordinary talents.

Good morning all from the east coast of Fife where the weather is unusually warm I’m not complaining it’s rather nice especially as I live so close to the beach.
Have a good day and keep safe and away from the C another one is doing its rounds 🥲

harrigran Tue 05-Sept-23 08:42:54

Good morning from another sunny day in the NE.
I spent most of the day in the garden reading my novel.
During the morning I could hear someone calling a name so went to investigate, it was a lady looking for her cat. I showed a photograph of a tabby SIL had taken the day before and she said it was him. One of my neighbours found him a few hours later and took him home. I thought cats were good at finding their own way home.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Gingster Tue 05-Sept-23 08:39:51

Sar sorry to hear about SIL’s mother.
Hope your Dh gets satisfactory results. 🤞
Will be in touch.

Stilllearning Tue 05-Sept-23 08:37:22

Morning from Giffnock, I had a lovely evening with DGS last night, he was in a sunny funny mood, it was good fun.

Hope you have your DH home with you today Ash and that all is well with him.

Glad the wedding went well Sago, you will be enjoying the rest now.

Grammaretto, I saw your Facebook post about your DGS’s new artistic success, this time a poem! It was really lovely and thoughtful, you must be very proud, what a talented boy.

No big ironing today here so I’ll be off this morning to enjoy the sunshine (in the shade). I hope you enjoy your garden Kalu and that your DD’s Covid clears up soon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, some days just need to be got through grandMattie, I hope today is an easier one.

Nannagarra Tue 05-Sept-23 08:33:28

Good morning from sunny Sefton.
Yesterday afternoon, whilst walking along the Leeds-Liverpool canal, we stopped to enjoy a brown darter. There were lots of cyclists along the tow path including two young boys who cheerily remarked that we were sitting on their favourite bench. “Look at you two living the life!” called one. All laughed as we agreed: every day’s a holiday now we’re retired.
Today we’ll avoid the canal as we’re looking after the water-loving retriever (though she did manage to control temptation on Saturday), plus it’s far too hot for her to be out in the sun. A brief mooch in shady woods is more likely. Whatever your plans, have the best day possible, and if you’re facing troubles and worries I send my best regards.

'...munching a plum off the tree.'

Taichinan, this reminded me of my brother; when he was small he was told very sternly not to pick the pears off the neighbour's low overhanging tree. The next morning my mum found three pear cores hanging on the tree. 'You said don't pick them and I didn't,' was my brother's retort.

Good morning everyone from a greyish Northampton, but I expect the sun will soon burn the cloud off.

Didn't get the grass cut yesterday as it was so hot, but am planning to do it this morning while it is still cool. Then hang the towels out.
Yesterday afternoon was spent reading in the shade of my pergola. Got a fair bit of my 800 page novel read. Then did the watering, and cleaned and refilled the bird baths.

I had a pleasing quote yesterday for the fencing work I am having done; I emailed them back to accept, and they have just informed me that the work will be done this week or next week, and to let them know if any days were not convenient.

Early lunch today and then out for a health walk; I guess we will take it slowly today in the sunshine.
Fish for dinner tonight, and a nice glass of chilled rose.
Have a pleasant sunny day everyone.

EkwaNimitee Tue 05-Sept-23 08:14:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny warm Carlisle.
It's not been as hot here as further south, for which I'm grateful.

I spent yesterday at various little jobs and will do the same today, though if it's too warm I shall do more sitting about reading.
I hope Olddudders is home soon and in good order Ashcombe. And best wishes to MrandMrsCornergran.

Got to go, have the best possible day everyone.

Georgesgran Tue 05-Sept-23 08:14:17

Good morning from another glorious day in Durham. I’ve slept like a top, following a full-on day outside with DGS2 yesterday. We were both exhausted and he struggled to stay awake in the ride home. DD2 arrived safely in Seville, so I’ve Little Dog here, which is a walk for us later.
Coffee this morning with a friend, then I’ll see what the day brings.
Fingers crossed for good news for those awaiting test results.
Hoping op recovery goes well for others.,
Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Tue 05-Sept-23 08:13:15

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its 10°C. Another restless night of strange dreams. I was trapped in a waiting room at Manchester's main station and couldn't get a train home! All sorts of bizarre events were happening, but no sign of Urms!🥴

Wishing Oldduudders a speedy recovery, congratulations on the promotions and pleased to hear slightly better news of Mr C.

I have no plans for today, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We had an unexpected visit from Dollie last night, which lifted my low mood. There seems to be little respite from my health issues these days, I have become a grumpy old woman and not good company at all. ☹! There is so much I want to do, but it's just not possible.
Dollie's topic in school is about the Titanic and papa, who used to be a member of The Titanic HistoricalSociety, found lots of materials for her to take into school. She was so excited and insisted on coming down immediately to visit.
She told me that a lady on the ship, who was 130 years old, died, but it's ok gran, she was very old! 😱

I wish you all a pleasant day, hoping the Covid Warriers are on the mend soon.
It's good to see my pal, Kalu back posting..
Have I missed Sago's wedding tales?

Taichinan Tue 05-Sept-23 08:09:51

Good morning Mick, hope the test gives good results. What a beautiful morning to wake up to on the Angus coast! I do love September.
I'm so sorry to read of all the worries, health and otherwise, on here this morning. Life can be so hard sometimes so I hope everyone gets the loving support and comfort they need flowers
Nothing very much to report from here - apart from unusually good weather of course 😊. The tai chi Instructors' meeting was really good and worthwhile yesterday and I arrived home to a lovely long phone chat with DS2 which I took while sitting in the sun by the pond munching a plum off the tree. Doesn't get better than that!
Trusting Olddudders will be home with you soon with good news Ash, and that all with problems will find them lessening soon.
Have the best day you can and enjoy this Indian summer x

brook2704 Tue 05-Sept-23 08:09:06

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Invernes
Hoping olddudders is back home soon Ash and the test results good
Not doing much except pottering in the garden this morning and then we’ll be helping with the pick up and drop off at the after school activities later
Sad times Sar53 sending condolences to the family
Pleased to hear the wedding went so well sago
Enjoy the sunshine everyone and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. We had an interesting afternoon yesterday visiting a local church and alms houses with a U3A local history group. The church was beautifully cool.
Today I am visiting a friend for coffee
Thinking of all those with health and other problems.

GrannySomerset Tue 05-Sept-23 08:05:48

Very hot night so am grumpy and unrested this morning. Supermarket expedition and then history society committee this afternoon which may prove difficult to chair. Dealing with volunteers is a delicate task and I am not sure I have the patience these days.

Sago Tue 05-Sept-23 07:56:10

Good morning all from Almagro Spain.
I have had a couple of days off posting as we have been so busy, late nights and early mornings!

The wedding day was fabulous and the BBQ the following day too, all went swimmingly.

The sun shone but not too much it was 25 degrees, there was a local wildfire which meant the helicopters were flying and some ash fell on the tables but it was soon under control.

On Sunday evening there was the mother of all storms, parts of Spain were seriously flooded, we awoke to sun on Monday morning.

We have left the beautiful villa and are now in Almagro, it is a gorgeous town, our hotel is the Parador and I wish we had an extra night here.

The photo is a typical street in the town.

Wishing you all a good day.

Greyduster Tue 05-Sept-23 07:50:12

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Going to be another very warm South Yorkshire day. More laundry to do and a little housework then I shall just let the day unfold. Might try and manage a walk later. Ash best wishes for Olddudders’ recovery.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Gingster Tue 05-Sept-23 07:41:39

Good morning and I’ve had a broken nights sleep due to the heat.
Many of us seem to have had a similar sort of day yesterday - bed changing and keeping out of the sun. Too hot to do anything ! 🥵. Wish I was by the sea or IN the sea.

I’ll walk little pooch soon and Bridge club this afternoon where it will be cool.

Hope Olddudders is home soon and results are ‘good’.
Lovely photos nannyjan.
GM another thing for you to tackle! Good luck!

Take care 🌻

ginny Tue 05-Sept-23 07:40:04

Good morning.
Yesterdays hour at DD3s turned into the whole day. She had 5 children to look after. so asked if I’d like to join them at a local park and then if I’d like to have lunch. The the children wanted to have a water fight so I stayed to watch the fun. Finally left about 5.30 pm.
Today I’ll do the jobs from yesterday and DH was mumbling about visiting a large shop, not sure I fancy that. I’d rather find a shady spot in the garden for the afternoon and do some crochet or painting.

Kind thoughts to all especially those with problems and illness .
