Ahh love her / disgusted by her - is she your Marmite? Saw the interview on ThisMorning...she's made the front cover on Vogue...at 82
She can be very hilarious but loves her fart talk -was most interested in her mint front botty therapy....what do other GNs think?

Bea65 Thu 21-Sept-23 18:46:46

We shouldn’t be going after GNs of any age - but, I do have some grey hair which is hidden by new highlights 😀

I find calling fellow posters ‘old bags’ far more offensive than MM’s showing off. At least she doesn’t appear to generalise about whole groups of people and insult them based on one characteristic which is out of their control. This is a site for older people, and although ageism is offensive wherever it is found, it is depressing to see it on here.

If you think posters calling her an 'old bag' on here is bad, you should see the filth that's posted on Twitter/X about her.
Absolutely disgusting, and women are worse than the men.

No, we're the old bags apparently.

Ageism on a forum aimed at older people
👵🧓👴

And no, I haven't got grey hair!

I think she is a much kinder person than the judgemental old "bags" here on GN !
She strikes me as someone who does care about people, not just in looking "couth"
How boring would most of GN would be on a chat sshow or in a memoir.
MM brightens up life and I find her a worthy person.
That she is vulgar does not bother me at all.

Try and say baggages instead next time, it sounds a bit better.
Are you not an older woman pinkquartz? Altho you can be a baggage at any age.

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 18:37:03

No, it is GNers who were called 'old bags' grin.

Twitter is a cesspit (which doesn't excuse it), but when people on here talk about other posters in those terms it is worse, IMO. You expect it on T/X, but on a site for over 50s?

^She was an only child in a close and loving family.^
Spoilt perhaps?

She reminds me of an adult version of Violet Elizabeth Bott.

Spoilt with love.
Her parents adored her.

Coming late to this thread (as I so often do) it would seem that she is "Marmite" While some GNetters love her others loath her.
Well, each to their own.
Personally, I much prefer Marmite.

Bea65 Sun 17-Sept-23 09:20:55

Am definitely not an old bag … am still a sassy 60 just … have also noticed on threads some GNs like to malign others and offend - perhaps this is their entertainment value ..wonder how MM would react- probably wouldn’t give a stuff🤣

Lucky's Dips it is! watch this space!!

I’m delighted to hear it and that you like my choice of title thread Luckygirl. Maybe choose a day each week - say Saturday morning - and put out a new review. I bet you’ll get loads of interest! It seems such a shame to have a stash of reviews on your ‘puter when we could be enjoying them on here.
👏👏

I’m really enjoying the book.

I enjoyed her documentaries in Australia but they ended abruptly because, I think, it was quite an exhausting experience for her.

old bags?
Is that how to refer to posters on a site designed to appeal to older people?

Yes, MM is kind, she is insightful but we don't need to hear about her bodily functions. It is just very odd.

What on earth is happening to Gransnet?
Posters being called names and judged because they are older and may have different values by several posters on several threads. Advice on one thread to treat an old man of 86 with sheer callousness because he isn't leaping around like a 30 year old.

What is happening on a site primarily aimed at older people?

Poor man’s Germaine Greer sans the intelligence ?

I think she's quite clever but perhaps thinks she's being cleverer by showing off.

Interesting that in the heading she is called-very outspoken lady.
She is definitely not 'ladylike' but I think 'lady'is the right term; she is confident, assertive, intelligent, speaks well, could talk to anyone and probably take control of any situation if she chose.
She is also a colossal show-off and delights in offending others, but I have known worse.

Eloethan

Outrageous and over sexualised behaviour is often found in people who have been exposed to sexual exploitation at a young age.

Wow.
That's some observation. shock

She was an only child in a close and loving family. She didn't come out to her parents until she was in her 30's, after which her mother had a stroke which Miriam blames on her telling her she was gay.
If you read her book, she was always 'the naughtiest girl in school.' That doesn't mean she was 'exposed to sexual exploitation'.
Her French teacher called her 'Naughty, but never wicked', which I think sums her up perfectly.

bikergran Sat 16-Sept-23 09:17:32

Wonder what she would be like in Parliament hmm lol

I used to like her but now her smuttiness and fart talk happens in every interview and programme she is on, it does not shock anymore nor is it funny, just predictable and pointless, an elderly person behaving like a naughty 10-year-old is not entertaining.

Exactly.

DanniRae Sat 16-Sept-23 08:00:18

Having declared that I really don't like MM her face is on the front of my magazine this week. This did not please me! shock

The script won't allow her free range with her vocabulary and since it's all pre-recorded any stealthily inserted naughty words would be safely expunged.

You never know what an alien might come out with, though.😲
Their anatomy might be quite different to ours.
