LOL. our last but one house was always known as The Surgery, and our current one, as The Vicarage- at least not other people's names.

Maybe you should give your house a name, ‘Sago’s abode’ or similar although I am guilty of doing the same. I think it’s a kind of showing off actually as in ‘we’ve been here so long that we know who lived there previously’! Maybe join in and they might stop grin

Maybe a large sign saying Sagos' House will do the trick.

We are guilty of the same! Of the 4 houses opposite only one we call by the new owners' names. One house is mainly rented now and was the local baker's house. And they moved 30 years ago. And we call it the Baker's house.
As we have been here longer than everyone, they must call ours the old couple's house!! Sad but true.

Yes I am afraid I am guilty of that too. We bought our house from new so I suppose it will always be our house.

We moved into our current home 13 years ago, never have we lived anywhere as long!

I recently met someone local who asked where we lived on our Avenue, she immediately said “ you mean Richard and Jenny’s house”

This happens all the time, Richard and Jenny (not their real names) only lived in the house 5 years and left the country!

I realised that I have been guilty of this too, we lived in a village with what we referred to as “the Judges house” even though the Judge had been dead for many years.

Will we have to move or die before it becomes our house?
