Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy and chilly.
Roses what a nightmare. I hope you get something sorted.
I must go shopping this morning, the fridge is very bare. If it stays fair I will then get on with some gardening. Lots of plants have faded although some seem to think it’s the start of summer all over again. I need to do my bulb pots too.
Wishing you all a good day.

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Sept-23 08:21:29

Marydoll rest that foot!

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Sept-23 08:20:21

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. RoseandLilac what a dreadful thing to happen. I hope something can be sorted out. Ash that's some journey! I'd have given up and gone home.
Yesterday I did the housework and washings, food shopping and got my autumn decorations out. I returned two jumpers which were too big and bought a cable needle and started dgs1's hat. I visited mum at night. She's struggling badly but was covid free so coming out of isolation. I hope that helps her. She's not eating much either and the nurses are worried about that.
Today, like Glammagran I have both grandsons coming for an overnight as dd and sil are going to a wedding. I haven't had dgs2 overnight before so it'll be a baptism of fire. I'm not sure what we will get up to but we'll see what the day brings. Have a good day all.

ginny Sat 23-Sept-23 08:15:09

Good morning everyone .
My pre op appointment went well yesterday, only 12 days to go now.
We are just finishing breakfast and waiting for DGSs 2& 3 to arrive for the day. Park, lunch out and some crafts are planned. Will need a quiet evening.
Quite a mix of good and bad news today so wishing all the best day possible with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Sat 23-Sept-23 08:12:52

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where Alexa tells me its only 2°C. I had to ask her to repeat that! 🥶

Roses and Lilac, when I noticed a fraud on my bank card, my bank also allowed me some cash out. You should ask them.
We were about to go abroad the next day!

Yesterday was a totally wasted day. I went down to morning Mass, but skipped Sainsburys because I didn't feel good at all.
DD unexpectedly appeared with a replacement charger 😍and goodies from her greenhouse, despite previously never having had any interest in gardening at all.
After she left, I told DH I was going to sit in the conservatory and rest. I woke up three hours later!! 💤💤💤💤💤
This hasn't happened since my I started my new heart pills a few months ago, I hope it is a one off.. It is so annoying! I had plans to tidy up the porch cupboard.

Thanks for the good wishes about my foot, Susan. It is getting worse, but DH and DD had a look and there is nothing to be seen. I'm beginning to wonder if it is related to the many stress fractures in my foot I have had in the past.
In the past, the orthopeadic surgeon told me nothing much can be done about it.

Today I will catch up on the chores, that I didn't manage yesterday. DD is going to pop in after her flu and Covid injections, given due to my CEV status.
She left her brolly in the hotel, so I have liberated a new one for her from my present stash.

Due to my wasted afternoon, I never got back to praise your wreath, GMBatty, it looked fabulous!
Baubles, I hope your DH is feeling a bit better, Susan, good luck with the party and Ash, hoping the meet up with your son goes well. GM a virtual hug for you.
I have only skimmed through the posts, so will go back and read properly.

Have a good day folks and and praying for a gentle one for all the poorlies.

luluaugust Sat 23-Sept-23 08:12:29

Good morning from a sunny but chilly W Kent
So sorry to hear all the various problems this morning, hope they can be resolved soon
Off to have our feet sorted out this morning and then a visit to DS and DIL later.
Best wishes to all

Jaxjacky Sat 23-Sept-23 08:07:37

Morning from a sunny S Hants, 8, WW, I hope your sister’s experience on Monday is straightforward.
gMattie I feel so cross for you, something that seemed inconvenient, but manageable, is turning into a monster.
Ash enjoy the rest of your break and you yours brook.
Today is newspaper day, garden plants need chopping and pulling out, the tomatoes are valiantly carrying on, so I’ll leave them.
Thank you for Matt Urms, a wry smile most mornings.
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

Urmstongran Sat 23-Sept-23 07:59:36

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and even a bit sunny. It’s changeable though and a bit nippy. I was glad of the blanket on top of the summer duvet last night. I’ve got TIB and I’ve just closed the bedroom window. Brr!

Here’s Matt.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Dry and 20° today. No need for heating or woollies here yet.
I have my Covid jab at a pharmacy 10 minutes walk from home this morning. I am so glad we moved into the city centre after hearing of the distances some have to travel.
We walked to a Turkish restaurant last night instead of getting a takeaway.
A Lidl shop later and then a restful evening.
Love to all 🦩 x

Liberty Sat 23-Sept-23 07:57:39

Good morning from a chilly but very sunny Suffolk. So sorry to read of problems that some of you had with travel, scamming and asbestos issues. Hope today is a less stressful one.

We shall venture out after breakfast with the little dog for a walk on our local common and coffee and no doubt cake in the cafe there.

I have a pile of ironing which I keep trying to ignore. I’m always impressed by those of you who post about doing your ironing on the same day as your washing! Days usually pass between those 2 activities in this house.

karmalady Sat 23-Sept-23 07:53:57

Good morning, cool and clear in s somerset

Roseand lilac, it isn`t just the terrible, awful inconvenience, it is the thought of rotten people doing rotten things to hurt other people. It sounds as though your bank are onto it and I hope they help you with some cash

A busy day yesterday, I did my neighbours drive and mine, they are big areas. Karcher first, then a top coat of patio magic to keep them nice through winter. New boiler man did the service, very local and a very good company that I knew all the time I was in my last house,. They are a growing company with the best of standards.

A special wash is on now, with salt added, quilted hand dyed patterned indian-made cotton. I shall give it two washes and then tumble gently. I am pre-washing before sewing a cosy winter top. I need to treat it now at the maximum it would be treated, when sewn, to get shrinkage over with and to set the dye. I had to overlock all four sides to keep the wadding inside

Have a good day

brook2704 Sat 23-Sept-23 07:41:33

Good morning everyone from Basel where it’s a lovely sunny day forecast for later
What a nightmare Roses, such a shame and so stressful. Lots of good advice on here, I hope you can get something sorted and get away to enjoy your painting holiday
Sorry to hear about your awful journey yesterday Ash, hope you enjoy catching up with friends and family later. We had a good journey over here yesterday and we’re in the centre of Basel before 12. We spent a lovely afternoon sat outside in a cafe on the banks of the Rhine watching the boats sail by. DS met us after work and we all went out for a delicious Thai meal last night.
Not sure of our plans yet today but looking forward to it!
WWM hope all goes well for your sister
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Sat 23-Sept-23 07:40:05

Good morning all from Glasgow. Currently 6deg. calm and dry. We may even have some sunshine today.

The heating is clicking on regularly now. Summer clothes packed away, winter clothes unpacked and it’s back to woolly socks, jumpers and cords.

Yesterdays weather turned out to be milder and warmer so with GD2s help, we emptied and cleaned all garden pots of sorry looking annuals. She is still sound asleep with the cat snuggled up beside her. I will drop her off later at our local riding school to meet up with two friends….teenage girls and ponies.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and heartfelt strength to those of you coping with troubled times.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 23-Sept-23 07:38:26

Morning all, I have absolutely nothing planned this weekend which is very welcome.

RoseandLilac what a nightmare, speak to your bank to see if there is anything that can be done to get some cash for you 🤞

Whitewavemark2 good news for your sister, Chichester is a lovely place for a wander whilst she is in surgery.

Ashcombe hope your journey is less stressful today. grandMattie I feel your frustration 😡

(((Hugs))) to all our poorly, stressed and anxious friends

I hope Saturday is kind to you 🙋‍♀️🦩

Gwenisgreat Sat 23-Sept-23 07:38:08

Oops , too soon. Make our way home and see how my slow cooker is doing with the stew I’m putting on before going (veggies prepared last night)
Have the best day possible folks

Gwenisgreat Sat 23-Sept-23 07:35:44

Good morning all from cloudy 🌥️ Harrogate. What a palaver Ashcombe hope to manage to meet up with your friends.
What a saga your bathroom is turning out to be GrandMattie. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end!
Rosesandlilac what a devastating thing to happen. Hope you can get some cash from the bank and go on your holiday as planned.
This morning DH is taking the car for its MOT then meeting me at the surgery where we are having our flu jabs , my appointment is 10.09, his is 10.10 am! We’ll have a cuppa at Markies then make our way hope

Beechnut Sat 23-Sept-23 07:26:38

Good morning from a cooler Severnside.

It looks like it’s going to be a nice day so I hope to mow the lawn and do a few outside jobs. I don’t know what but I’m sure I can find something.

Have a good day all 🪷

cornergran Sat 23-Sept-23 07:19:49

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry day is forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed my volunteering yesterday, some laundry and a quick trip to Waitrose in the afternoon. I felt quite excited to see Mr C walk round without the need for the stick he has used since surgery. Of course the visit involved coffee

Oh heck roses. I’m so sorry. I also believed a bank would provide emergency cash in your situation. Can you phone them and ask? You must be so worried. Your situation has made me think. I do have accounts with two separate banks, Mr C only one which feels a very vulnerable place to be.

Goodness ash what a trip. Hope today is more relaxed and you can begin to enjoy yourselves. A busy one ahead mattie, I’m sorry there is such stress and uncertainty for you. How did H get to be four susan? I’m sure he’ll have the best party, star of the week too.

Quiet one ahead here. If it stays dry I may tidy the climbing roses. Or I may not. Mr C was hinting at having lunch out somewhere. Coild be a good plan if he’s OK today

Thinking of all with worries. Have the best day you can everyone.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 23-Sept-23 07:19:40

Oh I forgot some really happy and very welcome news!!

Eldest grandson is now a BscHons. Electrical Engineer - with computer engineering.

Well done him

Mizuna Sat 23-Sept-23 07:09:41

RosesandLilac, that's awful. Couldn't your bank supply some cash if you could get to a branch? gM if you lived near me you could use my bathroom; my neighbour collected her washbag from mine yesterday, so I have a vacancy. 😊

A dry day promised here in Cornwall. Hope my knee agrees with going to the allotment community shed for our weekly coffee morning and then to my plot for some pottering.

I dug out my winter clothes yesterday and was delighted to find two pretty cardigans I'd completely forgotten I bought in the sales. Spent the evening in my onesie, feeling very smug and cosy. 😄

glammagran Sat 23-Sept-23 07:09:38

So sorry to have just read about your bank situation Roseand Lilac. I fervently hope a solution can be found before your upcoming holiday.

Greyduster Sat 23-Sept-23 07:06:37

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, but dry, South Yorkshire. It rained most of yesterday afternoon which scuppered my trip into town, but I did manage to get a lot of garden clearing done later on in time to get the green bin out. I made a batch of cheese scones half of which I shall freeze. Cleaning today and some food shopping and more than likely a chat with DS who came back from his holiday early this morning.
Roses what a nightmare! Hope you get it sorted soon💐.
Have the best day you can folks.

glammagran Sat 23-Sept-23 07:03:56

Good morning all.

Planted up some pots yesterday with Spring bulbs just before the rain came. I’ve run out of compost so need DH to get some more.

We have DGD3 and DGS2 overnight while their parents go to a wedding in Gloucestershire. They will arrive at exactly the time the England rugby game starts. 😂. They are hard work but we love them to bits. We will have spag bol for dinner which J will eat but M eats mostly beige food being a very fussy eater so spaghetti with ham and grated cheese for her. We’ve all been under the weather this week with some sort of cold virus.

Blossoming that plumber rings alarm bells. Avoid. GM your situation re: asbestos sounds almost farcical. Hope it’s sorted out asap.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday - the weather is looking better. Pic taken a couple of weeks ago on the last hot day. Seems so long ago already.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 23-Sept-23 07:02:44

Actually I think I did what staceyanna did.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 23-Sept-23 07:01:36

Good morning from a sunny South Downs. I shall need a coat on this mornings walk as it is only 8c. Forecast to rise to 18c I think.

rosesandlilac my bank arranged for me to use my card at a particular point to gain access for just once to draw out what I needed. It is so inconvenient when that happens though.

My sister has Monday booked for removing the melanoma - it is at Chichester at 5pm, so I’ve commandeered DH to drive as well as I am no good at that time of day and not sure how long it will take.
Hoping to feel less tired today, and get out into the garden. The gales have finished off a lot of flowers so I shall cut them down.

Lamb ragu and pears with fudge sauce and ice cream.

Look after yourselves - those with difficulties

Peace and harmony to all.
