Good Morning Saturday 30th September 2023
(50 Posts)Good morning from Bristol. Dark and light mist outside. Wasn’t yesterday glorious?
I had a successful walk to Spanish and class. Another student dropped me home.
After a much needed nap, I went shopping for my meatloaves for 60 +1 vegetarian tomorrow. I took the opportunity to go to the library which is opposite Waitrose. My trolley was so heavy that I took a bus home, even though it’s only 2 stops away.
The rest of the afternoon was spent preparing the veggie filo loaf filling and frying onions. I was done in.
Today, buy vegetables for church display, arrange them, then home to cook said meatloaves…
Prayers to this with mountains to climb, especially Urms and Marydoll. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning everyone from a dark Severnside. My cooker hob was shining brightly from the light of the moon.
My car passed its MOT. It does have a couple of things that need doing so it’s all booked in for when the service is due. Today I have my flu jab and have to pick up my prescription. My friend who has moved house is coming to pick up her food today. Not sure whether she will take the rest of her belongings or they can go another day.
Wishing all the best to all 🌻
Good morning from a dark South Downs. Yes gm yesterday was an absolutely perfect warm autumnal day. Walked by the river, had lunch out doors, bought plants for my autumn/winter containers and generally enjoyed the day.
Today I plan to tackle the bottom terrace pots - complete change around for the winter, plant bulbs and plants as well as put the summer stuff to bed or at least into the greenhouse. Sweep up and tidy. I also need to weed the front.
Navarin of lamb 😄 I know it’s autumn but just fancy it.
Peace and harmony to all
Good morning from Cornwall where it's dark and dry. Discovered yesterday that my daughter-in-law's close friend is living in the council house I was brought up in and that she moved in when my mum died 21 years ago. Her other close friend is living in the cottage I bought after my divorce. We were amazed at the two coincidences.
Today it's our Macmillan fundraising coffee morning at the allotments. Lots of home-made cakes plus crafts for sale. I've knitted snails and berets and sewn mini cushions. After that my seven-year-old granddaughter will be coming to play.
Good morning, still dark but potentially a nice dry day today in s somerset
I have a sewing room to clean, went upstairs at 8.30 last night and made a quick skirt as I wanted to use up a length of babycord, I never tidied as I sewed and have the messy aftermath to deal with this morning.
It appears, from an informative e mail, that several local people have covid after attending a nearby function last week. I am keeping my head down for a bit longer, flu jab next week and covid jab middle of october.
Not sure about today, the lanes were very puddly yesterday so perhaps just a fast walk, not a cycle ride and followed by pottering for the morning. I have an indie cotton quilted jacket to cut out this afternoon, looking forward to that and it will be a slow and steady zen sew over a few days
Have a good day
Good morning from a fine start in Torbay with a pretty sunrise.
I hope you enjoy the coach trip, Mick.
You do have busy days, grandMattie! I hope the church folk appreciate your culinary contribution. Another busy person is Whitewavemark2. I envy your energy.
Good news about your car, Beechnut! I, too, have my flu jab this morning with the next Covid one on the 9th October. Covid cases are on the increase here, karmalady. It will be over 12 months since my last Covid vaccination by the time I have it. I guess immunity is low for many of us.
A Macmillan Coffee Morning on allotments must be one of the more unusual venues! I hope it goes well, Mizuna!
Today we are meeting 14 others from The Dad’s Army cast and crew for lunch at The Babbacombe Inn which should be fun.
Thoughts with all facing difficulties, especially Urmstongran and Marydoll. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning from dry South Lanarkshire.
We didn’t go to Edinburgh after all yesterday as DS messaged to say that DDoutL has covid again.
DH will now have to be extra careful about infection so we couldn’t risk going even though we could have avoided contact as she would be in their wee study working.
It’s my last day at work today and some of the team have arranged for us to go out afterwards for food. Even though it’s definitely time to go I know I’ll feel a bit sad.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Morning from a clear S Hampshire.
Busy days ahead with MacMillan sales (our bowls club have one), gardens, meatloaves and more. A bittersweet day for you baubles, enjoy your meal.
I dropped Imogen at school yesterday, called in the farm shop, had a lovely walk, took delivery of groceries and went to our local for an early evening catch up.
Today will be newspaper, garden, ear clear out and football/rugby.
Enjoy yours 🦩🦩
Morning all
A man is coming this morning to give us a quote for removing our decking (both sides of the house, big deck across the back of house, path down to bottom of garden where there is a small raised deck) a big job.
Then I have to choose the slabs/tiles which will be laid afterwards.
This afternoon we have our Covid boosters.
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate.
Hope you don’t have any problems on your coach trip Mick
Gosh GrandMattie you are always so busy, it’s no wonder you needed a nap.
Glad your car passed its MOT Beechnut ours did as well, it will have a service in October.
Amazing coincidences Mizuna. I only know who is living in our last house.
Probably will nip over to DD1s house today, her DH’s 🎉
Yesterday a good friend popped round with some much welcome Bramleys from her tree. I’ve been waiting for my neighbours cookers to drop off into my garden, but I’m sure she’s glued them onto the tree!! I so miss the Bramley apple tree we had in the last garden.
Have the best day possible folks
Just a quick morning all from a very warm (32 degrees) France. The pre-wedding party was great fun last night. It was good to see various relatives and friends specially the bride and groom. Have a good day.
Good morning all from Glasgow where it’s grey but dry.
Another outing today to collect DH’s scripts and some food shopping must be done. If I can find my mojo, I can tick off a few things on my to do list.
Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and gentle hugs to those who need some just now.
Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment.
Yesterday the weather was lovely so we took the scenic route to Staffordshire stopping for a picnic en route. We collected B from school and had a lovely evening celebrating DD2 and SIL’s birthdays.
Today we will do a supermarket shop and hopefully have time to continue sorting ready for the plumbers on Monday.
Enjoy your meal tonight baubles and happy retirement.
I hope Marydoll had help from her GP yesterday and is starting to feel better today🙏🏻
Thoughts with Grandmabatty, Kalu, Urms and all with worries.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Good morning from another sunny Suffolk after a wonderful warm and sunny day yesterday.
We had our fish and chip lunch outside on the terrace of the Aldeburgh hotel which adjoins the footpath next to the pebble beach and not only enjoyed the food and sun but also watching the few children and a couple of swimmers there.
COVID jab in an hour so better get a move on as our nearest town is a 15min drive away.
Hope all find some sunshine in their lives today even if it takes a bit of searching for.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but dry
Hope you enjoy your last day at work baubles and your get together afterwards, Happy Retirement!
Nothing much planned for today, I’m hoping to get on with the garden as there’s always lots to do
Enjoy the coffee morning fundraiser mizuna
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, cloudy corner of Somerset.
Busy catching up day yesterday kept me indoors. Hope to get out this afternoon. Ironing first then some preparation for changes in our living room. A third of the sofa is disappearing for repair and there’s a new carpet being installed on Monday. Both seemed a good idea at the time. Three phone calls to make to worried people at some point, I will as our grandson says have my listening ears on.
Hope tomorrows trip goes well mick. A mixed emotion day ahead for you baubles. Goodness whitewave and mattie you do so much in a day, puts me to shame.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry but looks chilly out. It’s my stepfather’s birthday this weekend and he’s 91y. Worryingly, his doctor has concerns about him so I’m anxious about him too now.
No Matt he must be having a holiday lucky man.
x
Baubles I hope having a meal out with friends this evening helps to compensate for your disappointment of not seeing your DS plus retiring today.
Today is a Big Sing which will occupy the whole day and should be both enjoyable and exhausting. No idea what we will be tackling but the conductor is always excellent and being in a big group a change. Wish I had had my Covid jab but that’s not due for a couple of weeks.
Other people sound very busy and I hope all the plans work out. Thinking of Marydoll particularly.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, it's 8°C.
GMattie, you have settled well into your new church. What an asset you are to them.
Mizuna, I would have loved to live near you and come to your fundraiser, I hope all goes well.
Today is 46th wedding anniversary, but unfortunately I am grounded.
On the day I got married, I was very unwell, (including two cracked ribs) the very beginning of my ill health saga. ( There seems to very very strong link between my ill health and Mr MDoll, 🤣)
Weeks later I found myself in the high dependency unit of a major hospital in Glasgow. After six weeks, I was allowed home on Christmas Eve because I cried so much about not being home for Christmas.
My DH and my mum were told to expert the worst, then when I recovered, I was told I would never work, nor be strong enough to have children.
I certainly proved everyone wrong! 😁
Thank you for your good wishes yesterday. My heart failure is what is making me unwell and I have the beginnings of chest infection. Nae luck, as they say here in Glasgow.
The young GP was very nervous (and a bit terse, due to that) and admitted she was unsure what to do or prescribe, because there are so many complications and contraindications. She foolishly thought I was just an old lady, but soon changed her tune as the consultation progressed and I kept throwing questions into the mix! 😉
I was told off for having elevated my legs before my appointment, to to reduce the odoema, because she now couldn't tell how severe it was!.
One heart med dose was increased, she will speak to the two GPs, who know me well for advice and I have to phone the cardiology secretary on Monday to chase up my appointment.
I feel a bit better now that I have seen someone, despite the poor prognosis.
We are expecting a visit from DS2 and Babydoll, DIL is escaping to the ballet for a well earned break.
DD will probably pop in too, so a pleasant day ahead.
Since we can't go out to celebrate, we are having takeaway, no cooking involved!! Yippee!
Now to go back and read all your posts.
Have a good folks and best wishes to all who are struggling. 💕
Enjoy your retirement, Baubles!
Good morning from a dry NE where it feels a little cooler.
Yesterday I did some laundry and hoovered the downstairs.
Thought I would have a cup of tea and watch the TV for an hour. I just got sat down when the police came to the door and demanded to view my CCTV, I told them they could but would have to access the data themselves as it is fiddly.
For some inexplicable reason the date and time they needed had not recorded.
DS and GD2 are visiting this afternoon after GD has put in a half day at school open day. She went to see Jesus Christ superstar last night with her friend so I will be hearing all about it.
GD1 is at another university open day.
Have a good weekend.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. High cloud and dry so far. A gardening day for me. Yesterday’s lunch guests brought me a tray of winter pansies. A great big push to get the bulb pots sorted.
Happy anniversary Marydoll and Mr Marydoll. Happy retirement Baubles. Enjoy your party. And Mick enjoy your trip tomorrow. Urms sorry to hear about your stepdad. You have a lot on your plate. 💐
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a bright W Kent.
Congratulations on your 46th Marydoll enjoy your takeaway.
Happy Retirement Baubles.
Off for our jabs this morning and then a shop. The Dr decided yesterday my DEXA scan results meant I could stay on calcium and vitamin D only, I am not so sure but will carry on for now.
Take care everyone
