Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry outside here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday I caught bus to Bicester but returned home due to Diahorhrea problems .
I have now decided to take those leopardine capsules regardless of how I feel as my system slowly recovers .
Today , Bicester is on the cards , I did manage to get my email back yesterday after a phone call to BT.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

Thank you for all the messages wishing oldddudders safe travels. All his train connections worked and he is now safely at home in La Sarthe. Whilst at King's Cross, he booked his return trip, arriving on Hallowe’en, for which I’m extremely grateful. A couple of years ago my windows were targeted by egg throwers. Last year I had my open heart surgery on that date, which went well but there are painful memories regarding a vindictive night nurse.

Today I’m looking forward to hearing a talk from our local Street Pastors at Wednesday Club.

Happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Wed 04-Oct-23 05:56:37

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
I easily managed to get my washing dry on the line yesterday, but I did order a tumble dryer, to be delivered today, as the weather is getting cold and my hands turn white with the damp cold.
When I went for my paper as usual, I was called back by the greengrocer as I passed. He told me he had a box of vegetables for me! A bit late for the church display, but I can still make more preserves. Guess how my weekend is to be be spent?
I had a reasonable Tai-chi class; washed and labelled the piccalilli, cut out and put on pretty “hats” with Christmas fabrics…
Today, I hope I have an empty, but who knows? Probably something in the afternoon?
I can’t plan to get my new glasses as I don’t yet know at what time the dryer is arriving.
Gentle thoughts to all with mountains to climb. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Ash, I’m glad olddudders will be with you for Halloween. It will be helpful for you to have your hand held on a day with such disturbing and painful memories. X

Ashcombe Wed 04-Oct-23 06:03:45

Thank you, grandMattie for your thoughtfulness. 🥰

Good morning from a dark, dry Cornwall due to turn sunny later. Yesterday's knitting group was lovely. The café is surrounded by exotic plants, mostly giant succulents. In the bay a cruise ship was anchored. All very holiday-like. Today, craft group in another town, with a Sashiko tutorial and coffee and biscuits.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 04-Oct-23 06:33:45

Good morning from a dark South Downs. Forecast sunny with a high of 18c so a bit cooler today.

Yesterday planned birthday meal for my sister did not go as planned as her consultant called her in for an urgent scan to see if they could detect any spread. The original surgery showed an aggressive melanoma that has spread beyond the area that they have so far removed. She now has to go to east Grinstead for more surgery, reconstruction etc. thankfully the scan could not detect any spread to her lymph nodes. First bit of good news🙂.
I took her present, flowers, card and desert to her at home- so she at least had something.

Today we have our covid jobs booked, so that will be out of the way. I’ll sort out the flu jabs after my surgery. There is no discernible level of flu yet so I can afford to wait for that.

Actually had a peaceful night with the dog - who is still snoring. Hoorah!

If I have time I shall make the Christmas chutney later, - gm I am struggling to find time to make our own chutney let alone make dozens with Christmas hats😳😳
I also hope to pot up an autumn container with the rest of my plants bought from the garden centre.

Fish pie and fruit salad for later.

Peace and harmony to all.

cornergran Wed 04-Oct-23 06:54:51

Morning Mick, morning All although there are rain spots on the window a dry day is forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Chores accomplished yesterday I had a long phone chat with a friend who has four suspicious lumps in a breast. She’s back at the clinic next Monday to hear a treatment plan. I do feel for her as her husband lives in a Home and is very confused. A lot to deal with.

We’re off to see our lovely daughter in law and our grandson this afternoon. Her full day of surgery is booked for next week, want to give her a hug and generally chat. We’ll next see her in the same hospital Mr C frequents. . At least I know my way around.

I’m pleased your husband will be back for you ash, memories are tricky things sometimes. Good to have his reassuring company. Any energy to share mattie? Your days always sound to be non stop. I can’t recall mick, did you seek any advice from your medical team? If not surely the time to.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Georgesgran Wed 04-Oct-23 06:57:59

Good morning from Durham. Still fairly dark, as my outside lights are still on. A grey day forecast here. However, a
sociable one for me, as DH’s friend is coming at 9, then I’m meeting a friend for lunch. Coffee with another friend at 3, then off to see the grandsons and I’ll bring Little Dog back with me for 2 sleeps - phew. Tomorrow is an empty.
Mick did you check with your team that it’s ok to take Imodium constantly?
Hopefully Marydoll is feeling a little better today.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Wed 04-Oct-23 06:58:40

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but sounds like it’s raining
Hoping all goes well for your sister wwm with her further treatment
And for your Dil too cornergran hoping all goes well with her surgery next week, also for your friend too, worrying times
An early start for me as I’m going for a group training session this morning for my new volunteering role and meeting some of the other volunteers. I’m looking forward to gradually getting more involved over the next few weeks. After that I’m at the hairdressers this afternoon and then taking DGSs birthday present round as it’s his birthday tomorrow.
Good that hear olddudders will be back with you again soon Ash especially at a difficult time
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Oct-23 06:58:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dry, although rain is forecast. Ash it's reassuring for you that your dh will be back to support you. Whitewave your poor sister! And you have surgery looming too. Ginny I wish you all the best for today.
Yesterday was a reasonable day with dgs2. He only had one fairly big tantrum when I was taking him home. He had been playing at the kitchen sink with water and tupperware and didn't want to get his teeshirt back on. I did something stupid in the morning though. Between nursery drop off and the tou shop and home, I lost my front door key. I have absolutely no idea where it is. Fortunately dd has a spare key so I'm using that but I'm annoyed at myself. I'm hoping it might be in the car(vain hope) as I looked everywhere and retraced my steps. I won't buy a new key as I'm getting a new front door within the next couple of months. Last night I visited mum who was eating crisps! A big change from last week. She's still refusing medication but is eating a little and drinking a little. She even asked about the boys.
Today I have an early haircut then I'm going to see my friend's partner for coffee. It's still strange to go to her house and she's not there. I'll fit in a library visit between both. Then this afternoon I'll make a chicken curry for dinner and potter. Living quietly is what I do best! Have a good day all

karmalady Wed 04-Oct-23 07:08:20

Good morning, a bright and windy day in s somerset later, cloudy right now

Something or other will evolve today, no idea what right now but it will likely include a walk. I am trying to keep myself safe until I get the covid jab but that is in two more weeks.

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Wed 04-Oct-23 07:13:32

Good morning from a very wet hill on the edge of the Cotswolds, it’s piddling down here!
Yesterday I cleaned through the house, got three loads of washing done and dried and had a lovely walk later with the dog. She was in an odd mood yesterday, spent the morning hiding under the bed because there was shooting practice nearby then two hours in the afternoon on my lap (she’s really far too big to be a lapdog 🙄)
She seemed fine in herself.
Today I was meeting a friend for coffee but she’s cancelled so the day’s all mine!
Hugs especially to those with troubles 🌹

Pittcity Wed 04-Oct-23 07:28:49

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. An 18° high and 10° low means it's layers wearing weather.
DH's scans were clear so his slight tremors are benign. Physio and medication will continue and we will breathe a sigh of relief. We had a Chinese takeaway to celebrate.
Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre as usual and a trip to Lidl later as the cupboards are bare.
Love to all 🦩 x

Urmstongran Wed 04-Oct-23 07:38:50

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. We had such rain last night around 9pm. I felt sorry for anyone who might have been caught out in it. I was also glad we live two storeys high! The soothing sound of it lulled me to sleep though and I slept like the proverbial which was much needed.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning from a still greyish Suffolk. Yesterday’s sun in the afternoon was warm enough for me to sit in the summerhouse with the doors open.

I thought of Marydoll when my DH had an email from Shell Energy, our electricity supplier. Having submitted a meter reading a little while ago and being asked to resubmit it again, we suspected something was afoot.

The email indicated that, because of our recent increase in usage and predicted continued use,the monthly dd was increasing to over £750! This seemed to ignore the fact that they had voluntarily reduced the monthly payment 4 months ago by over £40. As we have oil fired central heating and a calor gas cooker, our usage has to be lower than many other people.

Luckily we have photographic evidence of 3 meter readings taken over the last 2 years so…..let battle commence with Shell. DH has already sent an email but I imagine the dialogue will roll on.

Meanwhile is another day and one in which several have health issues to deal with. I hope all goes well for all.

No keep fit for me as I have a business meeting this morning linked to the work I still do one day a month. It’s a virtual one but I miss actually seeing and chatting over coffee to my colleagues.

ginny Wed 04-Oct-23 07:46:15

Good morning everyone.
‘IVe had a cuppa and a slice of toast so no more food for me until after my op’.

Thanks to all who have sent good wishes . It is nice to know that people are thinking of you.

Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way. X

Alygran Wed 04-Oct-23 07:51:14

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A bit of a grey start but it’s dry.
Off to the parent group to make the coffee. We have a guest speaker today talking about parental burnout. This affects many parents with children with special needs.
After that a planning lunch with a fellow trustee, then if it stays dry I may get the lawns done. The grass is still growing like it’s spring!
Mick please seek medical advice. My late DH had chrons and a bowel resection. The result of which was just as you seem to be experiencing. Unpleasant, unpredictable but managed via prescription to a greater extent. GP and dietician will help I’m sure.
Wishing you all a good day.

BlueSapphire Wed 04-Oct-23 07:51:39

Good morning everyone from a dry and cloudy Northampton; should stay dry today, so will put the towels on the line soon.

Had a lovely health walk in the afternoon sunshine yesterday; a small turn out though, only six of us. We covered 2 and a half miles in our hour's walk, and were ready for our coffee afterwards.

A quick run round with the Hoover this morning, then I have a neighbour coming for coffee.
Will have to be in this afternoon as the security alarm is being serviced. I need to empty the coat cupboard in the hall so the engineer can get to the master unit thingy. Will sit and read my book while the engineer is here.

An easy dinner tonight of an M&S Chicken Tikka pie, with roast potatoes, veg and gravy.. Had this pie before and it is very tasty.

Wishing all a good day.

luluaugust Wed 04-Oct-23 07:59:52

Good morning from a bright W Kent. A day of packing and tidying ahead as we are off tomorrow to visit DD1 and family in Scotland. Just hoping the trains are in the right place.
All the best Ginny
Thinking of everyone dealing with medical issues at present. Ash I am glad you will have support you have my sympathy with ‘difficult’ night nurses

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Oct-23 08:08:05

Morning all, another warm day here in S E Essex.

I am off to the gym first thing, don’t feel like it as I had a disturbed night which has left me with a headache.

Thinking of all virtual friends who are poorly or with poorly loved ones 🦩🙋‍♀️

Marydoll Wed 04-Oct-23 08:11:38

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

Much busyness on the thread today!
Pitt, excellent news, you must be so relieved! GrandmaB, you sound a bit brighter today and Ash, good that your DH will be with you again soon.
Best wishes for your Sister WWM.

I managed to contact the Prof's secretary and yet again she was so supportive. Much to my relief, she said that she would email him with all my symptoms, but that it was ridiculous that the GP herself , whom I saw on Friday, had not contacted the hospital for advice. However, she did warn me that he may admit me to hospital again and I should hear from her by the end of the week. With that in mind, I ensured that my medication box was tidy (it's rather large) and my list with dosages and times was updated. Today I will check my hospital bag, which always lies ready.
I'm still feeling grim, so it is a relief that I am getting some support.

On phoning the surgery to leave an update for my actual GP, my heart sank when I encountered the least helpful of all the receptionists. As usual, she was obstructive, saying that my GP wasn't in and she couldn't take a message! 😡 I patiently asked her to message him on the system, in order for him to read it today.
She hadn't reckoned on this savvy, long term patient's tenacity and I persisted. After initially getting the message totally wrong, she eventually, at my request, repeated the correct info back to me.
I was struggling to remain polite.

Last night about 7.30am, the door rang. We rarely have visitors at night. DH was in the bath, so I went to answer the door. I could see what looked like a small figure. It was DS1 and Dollie, dressed in her ballet outfit! Apparently she was fretting about her gran and wanted to give me a hug before she went to bed. 😭
They were only in for ten minutes, but it gave me such a boost!
She couldn't wait to share her news that she had got the lead role as the Toymaker in the drama club's Christmas show. 🤩
At seven years old, she is tiny. The toys will be bigger than she is! 🤣

Another day ahead of doing very little , although I must tidy the spare room if I feel up to it. I keep leaving the washing and ironing on the bed (done by DH 😍) but I have no energy to put it away.

Mizuna, I keep meaning to say that I have four large, rock hard pears on my tree!

Have the best day you can folks and healing thoughts for all the poorlies. I will go back and properly read all the posts.

Gingster Wed 04-Oct-23 08:11:38

Good morning all and it’s dry and brightish here in Essex.
I can’t believe it’s a week ago that we met up Liberty . I hope your ‘meeting’ goes well.

Pittcity good news for you.
Ash I remember you telling us about ‘that’ nurse. How unkind. I know when my daughter was in hospital, she reported a nurse for being nasty to elderly patients. Supposed to be a caring profession! 😳.!

Good luck today Ginny .

Dh will be going fishing today, so I’ll be carless. I’ll hop on the train and travel two stops to meet my old school pal for coffee.

There was more work going on at the station during the night , so another sleepless night for me (and lots of others I suspect) .
This doesn’t often happen and it has to be done , so hey Ho!
It’s a shame we weren’t at our seaside abode where it is soooo quiet,

Dh has just informed me that our trains are on strike! 😳. Oh well there goes my meetup with my pal! I’ll check it though.

Take care all 🌻

Grandmadinosaur Wed 04-Oct-23 08:13:32

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s a dull start but quite mild.

I don’t feel too brilliant this morning so will just have an easy day. I have some shredding to finish off and a black bag to sort of things that was in a drawer in our old bed. Also I have a shopping delivery later.

Thinking of Hollysteers today and hoping all goes well 💐

Marydoll Wed 04-Oct-23 08:14:00

I meant to wish ginny good luck for today and that Susan managed to see someone about her cyst. 💐
