NaughtyN - the stained glass course I’m doing next year is about an hour away, near my old stamping ground Henley on Thames.

Welcome home SueD good to have you back with us!
Pleased you got out yesterday with a friend ann, it’s always good to try somewhere different. Sorry to hear your sons had such a tough time
I’ve been to the gym this morning for Boxercise, it’s a good fun class and goes really quickly. Then I went with my pal for coffee and a good catch up. On the way home I stopped off at her house as she always makes a big effort to decorate her garden for Halloween. It looked really good and she’s expecting lots of children round later tonight.
Good to hear from you neine hope you can take it easy for a bit now
Hope your eye is better soon Jax take care

Jaxjacky

Welcome back Sue you missed storm Ciaran giving you a helpful tail wind!

Thank you for the welcome home thoughts. ❤️

I think we did benefit from Cieran actually, Jax! The flight was supposed to be 7hrs 10mins, we did it in six. At one point the flight path thingy on the plane said we had 125mph tail winds. 😂 It was a bit bumpy at times, I must say.

Our internal USA flight was also speedy. We departed 40 mins late and arrived 10 mins before the original arrival time. 👀

Is Urms off to Spain? I missed that - I hope they have a wonderful time! 🧳 ☀️

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Oct-23 21:26:08

Good evening Kitcheners. Suedonim a hearty welcome home to you, chased across the Atlantic by the het stream. Brook a very energetic day for you. Neine it's nice to hear from you.
An active day of childcare for me. Dgs2 loves to go out and we were out for a walk by nine thirty this morning. The wee scone is in some discomfort though and has a pediatric appointment in December. We went to the motorway later as he has a passion for cars. On the way back, an elderly lady stopped to speak to him and gave him a pound for having a lovely smile. He does have charm when he wants to!
Later on DD, sil and the boys came guising. Dgs1 was hyper excited. He had lots of sweets. He told me two jokes and was dressed as super mario. Dgs2 was dressed as Spiderman and did a couple of Spiderman moves. I gave them a bag of assorted sweets to add to their haul. I've just had a Tesco delivery and put it all away, so I'm watching tv for a while before bed. Have a good day all

Blossoming Tue 31-Oct-23 22:11:53

Good evening Kitcheners. A very quick visit, with my usual flair for drama I have managed to break two bones in my hand in a totally freak accident. Fortunately it’s the wonky hand so not too hard to avoid using it. MtB is taking me out for a coastal drive tomorrow to see all the visiting geese on the salt marshes. I suspect he is trying to stop me from doing any more damage! Have a peaceful night, TOYA.

aggie Tue 31-Oct-23 22:14:59

Oh how painful Blossoming , I hope it heals quickly !

cornergran Tue 31-Oct-23 23:01:24

Ouch blossoming. Please stay upright. Hope your hand settles very soon

Wow neine you’ve been so busy. Take it easy or at least easier now.

Those boys look very cute grandmab. I’m sure the smiles increased the sweet haul.

Good to see you back sued. Pleased you’ve been out ann. Hope the red top is just right. I’m looking for a long top to go with snug fitting red trousers, failing dismally so far

As usual no one came knocking this evening, there are always just in case sweets which will head our grandsons way unless his Dad or Mr C get there first.

Better news about our seriously ill friend, after arriving at hospital on Friday courtesy of blue lights and sirens she is beginning to make some ground. Like most of our long established friends she’s too far away for a day visit.

🤞. We’ll do better tomorrow, due to meet good friends who love about an hour away. If the serious wind and rain hold off as forecast they will be able to drive across to us snd get home safely.

Time I was asleep. Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

brook2704 Tue 31-Oct-23 23:03:10

Aww what a gorgeous picture grandmabatty thanks for sharing
Blummin heck Blossoming whatever next _ You poor thing, hope it’s not too painful and take care. Enjoy your drive out tomorrow

Naughtyneine Wed 01-Nov-23 08:02:56

GrandmaB.... What a fabulous picture... No wonder it's no hardship to be with those two every day. They are gorgeous.
Blossoming....no....I think we may be related as DOH says he wants to wrap me in bubble wrap. My latest is my hand too ...last night the puppy caught me mid play with his 'brother' in exactly the same place as his 'sister' did in May.... He caught the nerve and oooh it did hurt and a droopy finger again as well. Luckily I'd just finished cooking so we didn't starve but I had trouble cutting my food up ( and holding my glass of wine too😟😟😟😟). This morning it's less painful but still swollen grrrrrrr. It's looking to be a stay at home couple of days as Ciaran approaches....at the moment all is calm here but you can bet as soon as I decide to set off for somewhere it will start blowing a houli. Keep safe everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Nov-23 09:02:17

Smashing picture Grandmabatty i remember ours at that age.
Blossoming you and Neine need these suits!
Swift recovery both.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 01-Nov-23 09:11:42

Elder son and his family aka Gomez, Morticia and Wednesday Adams

Blossoming Wed 01-Nov-23 09:28:57

Blummin heck Neine I think we must be! I do most things one handed anyway. I just need to remember to move but not bend the fingers to prevent the hand from ‘clawing’, which it is inclined to do. Jax MrB has already offered to get me a bubble wrap onesie!

Yiayia4 Wed 01-Nov-23 13:27:51

Ouchie Niene and Blossoming hope you both heal quickly.

Lovely photos of your boys Grandmabatty. Our lot loved dressing up for Halloween, much too grown up
now of course🤣

Waiting for the storm should reach us this evening hope DS gets here first.Beef in Guinness cooking slowly smells good.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone and keep safe.

SueDonim Wed 01-Nov-23 14:45:34

Those little imps, GMbatty! 🤩 Adorable!
Spooky goings on, LLFL. 👻
I hope you see your friends, Corner.

I’m joining the Sore Hand ‘quiche’ and need one of Jax’s Michelin man outfits. I tripped over a beanbag on my haste to answer the door this morning and went full length on the kitchen floor. It was in strange slo-mo - arrrgh! I now have a sore hand and two bruised knees but it could have been much worse. I still managed to do my workout with the PT, as well.

It’s raining and gloomy here though I think we will escape Storm Ciaran this time. I hope everyone in its path stays safe.

Off to do ballet duties now, no doubt GD will be excited to see us after more than two weeks.

TOYA. Xx

Nannytopsy Wed 01-Nov-23 15:49:04

Blue skies at the moment but we have already had some heavy showers. Lots more to come later, so there are sandbags appearing at doors in the village. 🤞 we are high enough to avoid flooding. We are on a hill and the lane turns into a river which races past.
The little car if off to the garage for its MOT later - it has done so few miles it’s hardly worth keeping it. We both prefer driving the other car.
Keep safe everyone - no more falling over!

Blossoming Wed 01-Nov-23 17:32:11

Good evening Kitcheners, we’re home from a lovely few hours gazing at the salt marshes and enjoying seeing the geese and lapwings. We were lucky enough to see a couple of starling murmurations too. I have heard people say in the past “Oh there’s nothing there” but they’re wrong. It’s teeming with life to be seen if you’re patient and spend some time just watching. There’s a small RSPB centre nearby and the car park, which looks out across the marsh, is free to blue badge holders and RSPB members. I quality on both counts.

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Nov-23 18:27:40

Blossoming that sounds wonderful. I'm sorry about your hand, and sorry to you too Suedonim. I hope you aren't too damaged. We don't have the storm in Polmont, but we have had a day of persistent rain and wind. So much so, that the road to mum's hospital is again badly flooded and impassable. A quiet night in the house for me. I'm thinking of you all.

Grannmarie Wed 01-Nov-23 19:20:44

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰 Soop, I hope you have recovered from your 'turn', be gentle with yourself until equilibrium is restored.

A wet and windy day here too, Grandmabatty, thanks for the great photo of your wee guisers. We only had a few children at the door last night, we used to have many. Like Cornergran, I'm left with sweets and crisps which would not usually be in the house, oh dear. I can resist anything except temptation...

Hello 👋, Niene, good to hear from you, thank you for the prayer. I hope that you and Blossoming and SueD soon recover from your accidents.

I'm sure your DS will appreciate that delicious dinner, YiaYia, enjoy your time with him.

Nannytopsy, I'm glad that you are high enough to avoid the flooding. I'm thinking of those in the South and in the Channel Islands, hope everyone stays safe. It seems to be just one storm after another.

Super photo, Ladyleftfieldlover, wonderful costumes and make up.
Yesterday, DS1, DDIL1, GS1 and GD attended a Halloween wedding, everyone was in costume, very unusual!

Jaxjacky, I laughed out loud at that photo, very appropriate! 🤣 I hope your eye is improving and you get a better sleep tonight.

Annsixty, I'm glad you are getting out and about, it'll do you good. I think I know what you mean about DGD working from your home, my neighbours had three adults WFH during the pandemic, I think they were fighting each other to take the dog out!

Brook and SueD, I'm glad that yoyre both home safely from your travels, and back to Gran duties already!

Mass and Coffee Morning today with my friend. The Primary school joined us for the Feast of All Saints, it was lovely to see the children fill the church. They were very well behaved and sang beautifully.
This afternoon, the Open Reach engineer came to restore my landline, which had stopped working all of a sudden. We don't get great mobile reception in our street so I can't do without a landline. Sky were quite difficult to get in touch with, and when I finally got to speak to a human, he wanted me to do all sorts of 'troubleshooting' at my end before deciding if I warranted an engineer visit....he sent a link to my mobile to use its camera to check the connections behind the TV unit and at the wall socket. That was very difficult with my knees!

Air fryer salmon and peppers tonight.

TOYA, NNGB.

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Nov-23 20:44:55

Wind is getting up in S Hampshire where a state of emergency has been declared, one grandchild’s school is closed tomorrow, one dithering.
Suit on its way Sue!
How wonderful Blossoming it looks very calming.
I’m tired, so will bid you a good evening.

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Nov-23 20:51:40

Take care Jaxjacky and all others in the path of the storm

brook2704 Wed 01-Nov-23 21:13:19

At last I can pop into the kitchen to catch up with all the news. I’ve had a busy day, most of the morning spent at the gym including the circuits class 💪 then school pick up and entertaining DGD. She’s no trouble and easy to look after on her own without her big brother teasing her. She’s now tucked up in bed cosy with a hot water bottle and an fluffy blanket.
Great photo llfl hope all the family enjoyed the evening
Goodness so many kitchen injuries, those suits are definitely needed Jax, look after yourselves everyone. A very well done Sue in still doing your PT session even when injured - that’s dedication for you!
We’ve had a day of non stop rain, grey skies and mist. I don’t think the storm is going to reach us here, we’ll just have more rain I guess. Take care everyone further south!

soop Thu 02-Nov-23 14:52:08

Although I've been absent for a wee while, you lovely lot are never far from my thoughts.

Yesterday's torrential rain has ceased. We went through floods en route to the GP's surgery.

Grandmabatty Those wee laddies are adorable.

Thank you all for many wonderful photos.

For SueD and Blossoming and Neine flowers in abundance.

Dear Mr Soop will be celebrating his 83rd birthday tomorrow. I am busy preparing for a few well deserved treats.

I shall be absent tomorrow. Back here in our kitchen at the weekend.

A group hug is booked for this afternoon. smile moon

Blossoming Thu 02-Nov-23 15:11:25

Wishing MrSoop a very happy birthday for tomorrow 🍰

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 02-Nov-23 15:16:48

Hello Soop and other kitchen people! Happy birthday for Mr Soop tomorrow.
I have had to cancel my hair appointment again. First it was covid and now it’s flooding. I can’t drive to my nearby town as the road has been closed. I feel like the Dulux dog, my hair is so messy.
I’ve just ordered a rug for our newish spare room. It’s slightly mad - pink flamingos on a green leafy background.
I’m off to a friend’s this evening, but I will walk.
OH will cook a fry up for dinner.
We had booked lunch at our favourite restaurant for tomorrow but fear the road will still be impassable so cancelled. But we’re going to another restaurant instead which is towards Oxford so should be ok.
What a palaver all this dreadful weather is. Be safe when you’re out and about.
Have a good rest of the day. I’m trying to get my head around the fact that Hancock wanted to play God and choose who would live or die…

Yiayia4 Thu 02-Nov-23 15:54:32

A very happy birthday to Mr Soop for tomorrow a fellow scorpion.🎈🎂🥃

Hope Jax and family are safe,I know it’s bad in her area. It’s not as bad in Surrey but cold wet and very windy.
