Morning! It’s a beautiful, clear sunny morning with a heavy frost which is much more cheery than the last few days. DH is still asleep and I am just about to make the first coffee. He needs to feed the birds, once the frost has gone off the garden steps.

Brook, I didn't go to my Aquafit class today, I'm easily dissuaded. Is that a word?🤣 Like you, I caught up with the washing and ironing, wrote some more cards, and finished decorating the window ledges and fireplace.

I'm really looking forward to the Glasgow Grans meet up tomorrow, I missed the last one. I'm taking my friend to our church Christmas Coffee morning, after I return her home it'll be a mad dash to the station!

Good evening dear Kitcheners ‘old and new’ (not that any of us are old of course).

I said my final goodbyes to a very dear friend on Sunday, still trying to take it all in. He had a lovely wife and two young sons, was s runner and participated in many fund raising road races, it doesn’t seem right or fair. I’m not in the best of health but I seem to keep plodding along.

I’m afraid I’m very behind with kitchen news, sorry it wasn’t better news from m the surgeon soop.

Neine losing a much loved pet is so hard.

I’m at the eye clinic tomorrow, may drop in later depending on vision.

Roast chicken in the oven, on a weekday, gadzooks, I spoil that man, it’s his favourite.
Thank you all for your thoughts for Imogen, she’ll be shaken as we all are, but bounce back.
They put their first ever real tree up on Monday (in our honour as we’re there for the day).

That is such a beautiful photo Soop. You live in a fabulous place. Grannysomerset my granny had a clock known as a 'Wag at the Wa' which had a lovely tick. It doesn't work any more but it's still in the family. Cornergran I really hope you managed to sleep.
Today dgs2 was at a hospital appointment where it was verified that he'll need an operation for a hernia. He's had it from birth and it gives him discomfort so best seen to. It'll be keyhole surgery and he'll need a general anaesthetic. Us adults are sad for him, but he's rampaging round as usual. Dgs1 is hyper excited about Christmas this year. He delivered Christmas cards to my neighbours from the two of them(written by DD) and was very grown up about it. So a day of mixed fortunes.
Tomorrow I'm looking forward to the Glasgow Grannies catching up. Have a good evening Kitcheners

I had a successful day gift shopping at Bluewater in Kent yesterday, I tagged along with a DS and his wife who insisted on carrying my bags, am I officially old?

The work on our patio is into its second day, trying to keep the mud outside, rather difficult as they are also working along either side of the house, dreading when they do the front next year.

A fleeting visit, dear Kitcheners. We've had a busy day. I shall share the view from the window with you. Hopefully, after visitors in the morning, I will be able to pop in for a chat with you all.

Water levels nearer normal but more heavy rain will cause problems. Yesterday it was simply streaming off the fields as everything is saturated and there is nowhere else for the water to go. Later in the week looks better, though.

Back from the supermarket shop and waiting for the workings of the grandfather clock to be returned. I so look forward to having it going again - such a companiable tick, almost feels as though there is someone else in the house. In fact the expert has just arrived, so that is all good. Just got to do battle with the printer and the Christmas card labels!

Here I am at silly o’clock and not a wink of sleep. Silly isn’t it?

Covid is retreating. A head full of cotton wool, a frustrating cough and easily tired but so much better than I have been. Mr C is still testing positive, day 12 now, no he’s not a happy soul. A troublesome cough and cold like symptoms remain. He’s also very tired and I’m sure doing my share of sleeping. Goodness knows how it would have been without the jabs we’re so grateful for them.

Other than that we’re ok.

Floods round here too grannys, hope you aren’t too badly impacted.

I’m sorry to hear your news ladylfl. A sad loss, you must have had a very special connection.

It occurred to me recently that since my old friend has been absorbed by dementia there is no one alive I shared my childhood with in any meaningful way. No siblings and my remaining cousins spent little time with my family. No one to reminisce with now.

Sounds a wonderful wedding sued. Like ann I seem to just attend funerals these days. The last wedding I attended was our sons, ten years ago.

That must have been a shock for you all jax and imogen must be so disappointed. Hoping for a positive outcome for her.

A very happy motorhome birthday wish for you for Saturday neine. We’ve never had one but loved our touring caravan. The freedom a home from home on wheels gives is like no other.

The people who knew us as babies are fewer and fewer these days.
My lovely Auntie, my Godmother, was a nurse too. She was the maiden Auntie of the family and always there for those who needed her.
I'm sorry for your loss.🙏

Hello kitchen people. This is a late one!
Commiserations to all of you with difficulties.
OH and I attended a reunion lunch today. A couple of dozen people who had worked at the company where I first met OH. He was a young graduate engineer and I was a secretary. A nice lunch but there were few people we knew,
I had news tonight of the death of my aunt. She was 91 and had been in a home for a while with Alzheimer’s. I last visited her in April and she didn’t know who I was. She was the last person on this earth who knew me as a baby. When I was born she had recently qualified as an SRN so insisted on carrying me home from the hospital. She was beautiful, elegant and charming.

Hope Imogen recovers quickly - is this blip adolescence related? Very worrying.

Much water on all the roads around the village with both rivers rising fast so that my journey to and from the surgery for a blood pressure check was quite alarming. Glad the BP wasn’t taken after the return journey! My Wonderful Cleaner has already rung to say she won’t risk coming tomorrow and the gardener wisely cried off today so who knows what the rest of the week will bring? All being well the innards of the grandfather clock are due to come back tomorrow but that may not be possible though a big van will have a better chance than a small car.

Really hope you’re home by now brook.

soop, as long as there are meet ups on the calendar, I think a quiet Christmas with all your favourite treats can be lovely, particularly with the views from your windows!
It’s the village pensioners’ lunch tomorrow, so a group of us have fundraised, organised, shopped and , this afternoon, put out the tables and chairs, done the flower arrangements etc. At least there are outside caterers! Of course, we are pensioners too 🤣.
In the morning I have a WI committee meeting here and late tomorrow afternoon, the Tesco delivery for Wednesday’s garden club supper arrives. Once we have done the mulled wine and mince pies for Sunday’s Carol service, I can start our Christmas!
We are a small village and only a few who are active enough to do this sort of stuff, so we do.
Enough of a moan! I get to snuggle DGS2 on Friday and Saturday 🥰. He has finally walked and it starting to say more words - such a lovely age.
Sleep well- can I hear snores already?!

I’m really sorry to hear about Imogen, Jax. That must have been frightening and upsetting for you all. I hope she gets the best of treatment and her future is bright.

I’ve had a good day window shopping at various places near my son’s, then coming back to see the grandchildren when they got home from school and potter about with them, doing this and that.

Ds lit the log burner and we’re almost toasted into a coma in its warmth now!

SueD my son also wore a kilt for his wedding as did the bestman, the ushers and all his friends they all looked very smart. DiL did draw the line at bagpipes though! Had a nice lunch out with two friends today restaurant which looked very festive although I did find the life size fluffy swans a bit to lifelike! Homemade sweet potato and ginger soup tonight just the weather for it.

Im unfortunately still not home yet, it’s just been one thing after another with todays journey. Sometimes it’s easy and trouble free and other times like today there’s cancellations and delays on every leg of the journey 🙁
