I hope Mr Soop is having a very jolly birthday today! At least with us, it’s not really rained much, just a few brief showers.
Oh Yia, that’s heartbreaking.
Is there nothing else at all that the professionals can do to help? I’m thinking of you and your son very much.
Thanks for the bouncy suit, Jax - I’ve not done any more injuries to myself!
Glad you escaped the worst of the storm. My ds in Hants was also ok, he said it was wet but not too windy. I hope your dd is feeling better now.
Annsixty you sound as though you’re able to get out and about more now. That’s great news, it improves one’s mood, even if it seems an effort at the time.
That’s good news for MrC, Cornergran. My friend who’s had congenital heart disease for years goes to cardiac rehab and it’s amazing how well she’s doing. I’m sure the rehab has helped her keep as fit as possible. As for BT - my heart sinks when I have to go into battle with one of these companies. You know it’ll probably take hours and you won’t have that one piece of information without which Nothing Can Be Done until you give up in despair and turn to the Sherry bottle!
GMbatty HB is my dh’s favourite shop, although B&M is exerting its allure on him, too.
Enjoy your quiet weekend, Granmarie. Sometimes it’s nice to do not-a-lot.
Yikes, Brook! What a fright! 😱 My GD in the US did similar, last year. Her eyebrow was pretty much sliced in two horizontally, in a head clash. Today, you can’t even see where it was, it’s healed so well. Hope it’s the same for your GS.
Stay cosy, Urms!
Today is a day for good news; my son in the US has had a clear scan result on his three-monthly check up. I’m almost allowing myself to breathe a little now, hoping that we’re out of the woods.
My hand is fine now, though both my knees are still sore as I discovered when I got down to play with GS today. He was delighted to see us again when we visited earlier in the week, he went and got his shoes and lunch bag and demanded to come home with us. ❤️❤️❤️. We said we thought not, as he’d miss his mummy at 3 o’clock in the morning.
I received a delivery of spring bulbs today, which I ordered weeks ago. I think I’ve been a bit over enthusiastic in quantity but I expect I’ll find homes for them all. I’ve ordered some bulb baskets to make it easier to keep track of them in the garden.
We’re off to a pre-fireworks party at DD’s tomorrow then a quiet day on Sunday apart from a man coming to valet our filthy cars on Sunday afternoon. They haven’t been done since we moved, 15mths ago.
Wishing everyone a good weekend. Xxx

Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for friendship...
(1001 Posts)Here we are again...
And a very warm welcome to the newest kitchen.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Today has been a quiet day of pottering. I have dealt with some paperwork and done a little laundry and watched a few craft tutorials on YouTube.
Glad you’re feeling brighter Ann, hope the meal is good. Such a shame when a favourite place changes hands.
Hope you’re having a good day Neine, sounds interesting.
Happy anniversary, hope you’re enjoying your evening Jax, that pudding looks delicious.
Great news from your son Sue, I think I’m the last remaining member of the Black (and blue!) Hand Gang now and it’s feeling fine.
Urms you sound so content
Goodnight, TOYA.
Thats brilliant news SueD so pleased for your DS and family 💕
Yummy pudding Jax, hope you’ve both had a lovely day
Blossoming so pleased your hand is a wee bit better
Sleep well all x
Yia We feel your pain. I shall say a wee prayer for your son. Please continue to share with us if it helps in some small way.
SueD Your dear son's latest scan is reassuring. I am delighted on your behalf.
Blossoming Continue to take very good care of your injured hand.
Mr Soop's birthday was as sunny and warm as his disposition. He received messages from family and friends including his sisters in Australia.
We had a delicious lunch in a super-smart restaurant in Campbeltown. After which, a stroll along the promenade and a little window shopping. Small pleasures that we continue to appreciate.
I took a birthday photograph of Mr S holding a framed photo of himself as a wee lad. So...here it be...
It will take me some time to catch up with all your latest news. I am bogged down a bit with trying to get on top of a few problems we're having with the internet.
You are special people. Later this evening, as is the custom, I shall raise a glass of cheer to each and every one of our Kitcheners.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s been a cold dark day here, as might be expected in November. I have snuggled down with a good audiobook about James Cook, his background and voyages. MrB went out for his daily walk, he is very dedicated to improving his fitness.
I’m not looking forward to fireworks this evening and tomorrow. I don’t like fireworks as I was burned by one as a child. It was an organised display so should have been safe, but one went astray. I feel sorry for animals too, it must be so frightening. There were a few last night and I was pleased that people have been listening to the message about ‘low volume’ whizzes and bangs. I hope the next few evenings are the same.
I’m glad MrSoop enjoyed his birthday. I bet you are feeling excited Urms, have a good journey tomorrow and enjoy your sunshine break.
Happy Birthday Yia 🎂🎉🥂, hope you’re enjoying your celebrations.
Smashing news SueDonim, enjoy pre fireworks fun this evening.
Lovely picture soop.
I’ve been make Christmas stuffing for both of my children, my friend and some friends of my daughter, it’s been hard work, now in the oven. Good for the skin! my hands feel very soft, a bit eau d’onion though!
A quiet evening ahead.
Belated birthday wishes to Mr Soop , congratulations to SueDonim and a sympathetic hug for YiaYia -plus anybody I have missed.
No internet on Thursday night or Friday in Somerset which complicated life - no Star Wars movie for the children who had had a frustrating day kept indoors by horizontal rain and gale force winds. We did attempt to take them bowling in Taunton but it was a frustrating journey there as we kept coming up against flooded and closed roads, about turns, consult Satnav, try again (repeat)
Anyway despite the storm we had lovely weather on Wednesday and a walk from Montacute to Ham Hill, and Friday (morning ) including packing up the house.
Our Halloween Tea was sumptuous and the GC had spent the afternoon painting rocks they had brought back from the beach with Halloween postures.
“Halloween rocks” , you might say!
Happy to be home with Rosie though who seemed happy enough at the kennels and was well looked after.
A couple of pics of setting up and the Halloween table! D and SIL had got “blood bags” filled with dilute Ribena for the children (happy to say the real stuff ie red wine for us adults) and they had all helped with Halloween baked goods - rocky road, biscuits, muffins etc
I treasure these times and hope that we have created some happy memories for years to come when Granny is perhaps no longer there.
“Postures” ????
pictures 😳😳😳
Happy Birthday YiaYia 💝 and very best wishes for your Son to return to better mental health soon. Such a worry for you.
💐 for brook and other worried or poorly kitchen visitors.
Happy birthday Yia 🍰
Wishing Yia a very Happy Birthday ! 🥳 🎂💐
Gorgeous pictures Rosies and definitely happy family times with special memories made
Goodness you’ve been busy Jax well done with all the cooking
I’ve had a good day in the garden today, lots of clearing up done but still loads more to do. It’s my go to happy place, I even sat out in the sunshine this morning with my cuppa and a rich tea biscuit - simple pleasures! I’m trying to get my winter garden together, I’ve a big Christmas tree that stays outdoors in a pot and a few winter flowering heathers that should give me some winter colour, a bit of Holly to decorate etc and some winter lights, that’s the idea anyhow although it’s still very much work in progress 🤣
Thank you for sharing the lovely picture of Mr Soop, soop, so pleased you enjoyed the birthday celebrations together, take care x
Thank you Tilly DGS seems fine today but it’s always a worry x
What a lovely photograph of Mr.soop and his cherub like younger self.
Safe travels tomorrow Urms. Both of you will gain by having a break, even if the journey is tiring.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.🥰
What a great idea for MrSoop's birthday photo, I'm glad you enjoyed the celebrations together. 🥂
SueD, I'm delighted to hear your son's good news, the whole family must be so hopeful now.
Blossoming, I'm glad your hand is much better. Your audio book sounds interesting. I'm reading a crime novel for Friday's Book Group, not my choice but I'll persevere!
Stuffing looks amazing, Jaxjacky, I laughed out loud at eau d' onion!
Great photos, Rosie's Maw. Making happy family memories is well worth the journey.
Glad to hear that your DGS is on the mend, Brook, and good to hear you got lots done in your garden. I've potted up skimmia with heathers and cyclamen, and replaced the summer bedding in the hanging baskets with heather and pansies, but I've still lots to do.
Hello 👋, Dustyangel, thinking of you and MrD.
Happy holidays tomorrow, Mr and Mrs Urms. ✈️🌞
I've had a quiet day, we did some online Christmas and birthday shopping, enjoyed
Strictly, (DH endures it !) had a tasty slow cooker dinner, lamb steaks with leek, carrot, onions and new potatoes.
I've managed to avoid dozing off this afternoon, so an early night is on the cards.
TOYA, NNGB.
We have been back to Kitty’s party of the country for a night to a 70th birthday and then lunch with friends. We are home for the night, then off to Kent with friends tomorrow for 2 nights. It’s all a bit rushed at the moment.
The decorator has nearly finished, so once we are home we can get clean and tidy. Phew. Then I shall put the garden to bed.
Happy birthday belatedly to MrS & Yiayia.
Sleep well everyone x
Hope you have had a lovely day Yia belated birthday wishes to Mr Soop and anniversary congratulations Jax we have busy clearing loft after roof leak oh has managed to patch it up, asseser for insurance coming in a couple of weeks. Hope fireworks don't keep anyone up too late we keep hearing odd one . Have a lovely break away in your happy place Urms. Good news from your son SueD. Good night all.
I am not long back from a lovely evening at one of our favourite restaurants.
We took our own wine which made the bill considerably cheaper.
The chef came out to chat and cooked our steaks to perfection.
A very satisfactory evening.
I hope Urms and her H have a lovely stay in their happy place.
I remember very well going to the Lake District a few months after I finished my treatment for BC and feeling so very grateful that I was there to enjoy it.
It was a very special time.
I hope you all have a peaceful night.
Finding sleep elusive I’be wandered into the kitchen.
Delighted you enjoyed your evening ann, you sounded less than certain before it arrived.
Happy holiday and safe travels to Mr and Mrs Urms .
That’s an excellent birthday photo soop. A good day for sure.
Hope the roof fix is a straightforward one hulahoop. What a nuisance.
The does sound rushed but very enjoyable nannyt. Have fun.
Wow, that’s a lot jax. Your winter gaeden plans sound beautiful brook. Of course you’ll pull it off.
.
My memory about your posts is failing me now so it’s goodnight from me - I hope
.
Good afternoon to all our special Kitcheners.
MrSoop Says a warm thank you to "his ladies" for the many birthday greetings.
Blossoming I am not a lover of fireworks. And, while I am having a grumble, I am also fed up beyond measure with Christmas advertising. I remember the good old days...
Belated birthday wishes, Yia
RosiesMaw I wish you many, many years of Happy Memory Making. Your photos are delightful.
Dear Mr and Mrs Urms, I hope that your journey is pleasant and that the change of scene recharges your batteries.
Nannytopsy You have been super busy. Your visit to the garden of England with friends is well deserved.
annsixty I am always happy to read that you had a most enjoyable evening meal with your friend.
corner Us lot are sending you a special comforting hug.
We've had plenty of sunshine today. We fitted in a pleasant stroll through peaceful parkland. All around us, the foliage was jewel-bright. Right this minute, it is spitting with rain.
Continue to enjoy your Sunday in whatever way you choose. We will both have a brew and read.

Hello lovely kitcheners. We are at T3 in Manchester airport. We’ve done the stressful bit through ‘belts and shoes’ as I call it.
😁
Himself has just enjoyed a bowl of spag bol and I’ve had carbonara. I’ve got a glass of Sauvignon blanc with mine though...
A restful flight, a taxi from Málaga airport (takes us 8 minutes I timed it once - how sad am I?) then key in the apartment door and straight to bed methinks as we will be an hour further on by then!
Thank you for all your good wishes. I really do appreciate your wonderful support.
x
Have a wonderful time you two Urms’s!
I am having a quiet day after yesterday’s trip to London and a tour of St James’s Palace. It was brilliant.
Church this morning. A very light lunch of poached egg on toast and then reading the paper. Dinner tonight is toad in hole and mash and peas. We bought some sausages from our local butcher the other day so I hope they’re good. Pudding is Burbidge pudding, also known as Guards pudding, and that is steaming away merrily now. Of course there will be custard with it.
Have a good rest of Sunday.
Good evening Kitcheners. Urms and himself will be well underway. Ladyleftfieldlover dinner sounds lovely. Cornergran I hope you have a better sleep tonight. Annsixty what a lovely evening for you. A busy time for you Nannytopsy. Brook your garden exploits put my laziness to shame. Grannmarie I often think of you and your husband. I hope you had a pleasant Sunday.
Today I did a spot of tidying up. This afternoon I visited mum. The usual road was closed because of a bad accident so I had to about turn and go through Linlithgow. I would not like to go that way in the dark either. Twisty country roads.. Tonight I'm having chicken casserole and maybe plum crumble. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Hi to all kitchen pals, we’re just about to sit down to salmon and roasted veg, one of our favourites
It’s been sunny but cold here today, I wrapped up warmly and continued with the gardening. It’s a good job I enjoy it as there’s so much to do, especially at this time of year with all the leaves to clear up.
Hopefully Mr & Mrs Urms will be there soon and ready to enjoy the sunshine
Hope you sleep a bit better tonight corner I thought I’d heard someone in the kitchen overnight!
DD2 and family are all out enjoying the bonfire display in town. It’s not for us though, I’m happier staying in these days
Take care all x
