Good Morning Everyone ,
Dark start but remains dry here in brackley .
Yesterdays bus journey was good , I went to the bakery cafe in the main shopping area and had a bacon, egg and grilled tomato sarnie .
Plus did a shop as I am going to have steak and chips today for lunch , as opposed to having pre pared meals .
Should be a quiet day .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from NI. it's supposed to be dry today.
I'm just wakened from a first shift sleeping which is good as I suffer from restless legs syndrome.
Son and grandson coming for Sunday lunch today. We will have roast chicken and Apple crumble/custard. Grandson is 6 and loves his mashed potatoes and gravy.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, it is going to be a warm and sunny day today, starting at around 10am

I am going out on a longer bike ride today, starting at 10, using my e bike with puncture-resistant tyres as it is hilly and hedges are being cut, with thorns on the lanes

The last of my frozen tomatoes are out on trays and I will get a tomato sauce started in my slow cooker before I go, the one I made yesterday is delicious and now freezing in several pots.

The last two fabrics came yesterday, now pre-washed and I will pack into two boxes, with the patterns I am going to use. Part of my winter preps, to make it easier to get involved in a hobby on a dull day

Have a good day

Good morning from a clear Bristol. I spied the moon and Venus through the kitchen window.
Not feeling too bad today after vaccine, though I felt pretty unwell yesterday. I had woken up with gout, but the pills did their job by the evening.
I’d had a very busy day, having had to prepare the vegetables for piccalilli, it took about three hours. I wadded, lined and quilted the 12 squares for my first quilt. All I need do now is assemble, hand sew and finish.
Sill not feeling 100%, so staying home quietly. I’ll finish the piccalilli, start on the marrow chutney and try to see.
Maytoday bring comfort to one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from Tønsberg

Mick it sounds as though your appetite is good.
Enjoy the steak and chips.

Yesterday was very energetic, a lovely ride out to Worlds End and a short hike, we then hiked up to the castle in Tønsberg, the views of the fjord were spectacular, from there we did a circular route taking in the oldest parts of the City, the old wooden houses on the fjord were so beautiful.

For dinner we bought some salmon and cooked it here as we all wanted to watch the England/Samoa and Ireland/Scotland games.

The salmon was amazing, proper oily fish, I had forgotten that salmon could taste so wonderful!
We went the Vinmonople to get some wine, you can only buy wine from these state run stores here, they close at 4 on Saturdays, so it was a mad dash!

Today is a proper sacred Sunday in Norway, only a few very small corner shops are open for a few hours, so the Norwegians will all be out enjoying the fresh air!
We saw a few people on roller skis yesterday, they’re getting fit and ready for proper snow in a few weeks.

Today we are heading back to Oslo via a couple of historic sites, we’re ferrying some of the way.

The photo is of Worlds End, we walked over the bridge and onto the rocks, it was a little scary but we all three remained dry!

Have a happy Sunday everyone.

Good morning from a fine part of central Devon where we too have a very clear sky showing up moon, stars and Venus to good effect.

This morning, I shall slowly pack and head home after a relaxing few days in which I’ve caught up with a few tasks here.

Your holiday sounds wonderful, Sago; thank you for the interesting details.

Take care of yourself, grandMattie.

Every blessing to all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good morning, I’m so delighted to have had almost 6 hours sleep, (after a week of 1-2 hours a night if I’m lucky) that I don’t really care what the weather is like. No coughing either! Seems like the Asthma is on its way out.
So another day of enforced rest, at least until I see the Asthma Nurse again tomorrow, then a slow start back to normality.
Hope everyone has a good day, safe travels to all on the move, happy days with family and let’s hope to get some sunshine. Maybe I do care about the weather after all!

cornergran Sun 08-Oct-23 06:56:27

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is clear and mild. A warm bordering hot sunny day is forecast.

A good day yesterday, meandering along the coast we walked an almost empty beach. Mr C was in good spirits as he had driven part of the way, first time for almost three months. Lunch locally and some grocery shopping we were home in time for me to do some admin.

Today I’m garden taming. When I get to the climbing roses there will be much muttering about the foolishness of not planting thornless varieties. Must first do the ironing I ignored yesterday.

That all sounds wonderful sago. Norway is such a beautiful country. Safe trip ash. Rest as you need to mattie, go gently.

Thoughts are as always with those with personal mountains to climb. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

grandMattie Sun 08-Oct-23 07:03:44

Ash, did you lookout for the meteor showers? Apparently, they are very clear.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 08-Oct-23 07:05:38

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
What a beautiful photo Sago! We went to Norway on a cruise a few years ago and were very impressed.
OH and I are have booked lunch out. Elder son was in touch yesterday to say he, his partner and our granddaughter were going kayaking a few miles from us and would pop in. Better than that, we rang the restaurant and added three more people to our booking.
Have a good Sunday, especially those who are troubled.

Georgesgran Sun 08-Oct-23 07:08:28

Good morning from a still, dark Durham. I’ve been awake for hours, following a nightmare. I woke screaming - at least I think I did - very disturbing.
More wardrobe sorting today - I now have 18 pairs of trousers to take to the charity shop tomorrow!
Activity at a neighboring house yesterday. It’s possibly/probably going on the market, but they speak to no-one, so it’s just guesswork!
Thinking often of GNs with worries and health problems.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Sun 08-Oct-23 07:09:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the weather is rubbish, non stop rain since yesterday morning and more to come today, the garden looks really wet and soggy 🙁
Your holiday sounds so interesting sago, enjoy every minute
I’ll need to go food shopping today as we’ve the DGC staying over tonight. It’s the start of 2 weeks half term school holidays here, so we’ll be helping out a bit with childcare this week, but they’re away the second week so not needed
Good that you’re feeling a bit better Oops, take care
Safe travels Ash and everyone else on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Mizuna Sun 08-Oct-23 07:13:31

Good morning from a dark Cornwall with a sunny day promised. Yesterday I created a seat on my patio by halving a plank I found in my workroom. Hard work with a small saw but worth it. A fun evening with my son and grandson in Wetherspoon's.

Norway is my favourite country Sago. So much breathtaking scenery.

Today, my granddaughter's 8th birthday celebrations at my other son's house, with our very extended family.

Alygran Sun 08-Oct-23 07:14:57

Good morning from Derbyshire. Still in bed to keep quiet. DD2 is quite unwell with a chest infection . Steroids and antibiotics have not helped much yet. Hopefully she’s had a good night and feels better today.
I’m going to watch DGS play football. Will head home later.
Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-23 07:22:45

Good morning all from a cloudy North. The weather yesterday was disappointing considering all the hype about return of summer. It was warm but not a return of summer.

Today, dh will be putting up some shelves and I will be pootling and faffing. Roast pork, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honey roast carrots and apple sauce - assuming the new cooker cooperates!

Have the best day possible all.

RosesandLilac Sun 08-Oct-23 07:30:08

Good morning, it’s a cloudy start here on the edge of the Cotswolds but sun is promised later.
Yesterday a pootling sort of day, very pleasant really. Started tidying my plant pots, I have violas to put in them. It was so good to be out in the mellow sunshine.
Today we’re having a takeaway Sunday dinner from the pub, they do delicious food and it will probably do us for two meals.
More gardening bits and making the most of the sunshine.
Take care everyone 🌹

NanKate Sun 08-Oct-23 07:35:37

Good morning Mick and All from a warming up South Bucks.

We have a picnic yesterday by the Lock watching the boats pass through. Today we are going on another picnic to NT gardens nearby.

Hope all our Gransnet friends are coping with the torrential rain.

Susan56 Sun 08-Oct-23 07:44:27

Good morning from Shropshire.

A dramatic day yesterday.I called 111 for advice and was told to go immediately to urgent care. All the staff were so good.I have another course of a different antibiotic to start today.

Hopefully a quiet day today. The forecast is for a sunny day so hoping to catch up on laundry and also tick a couple more items off the admin to do list.

Glad you are starting to feel better Oops and that you had a good night sleep.

Don’t overdo it grandMattie.Take care.

Safe travels home Ash.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning all from a soggy Polmont where it's currently 10° and still raining. Kitty that meal sounds delicious. Georgesgran I love a good clear out!
Yesterday it poured and poured. I was glad I went to Aldi early because Polmont was marooned for a little while. All of the roads in and out were flooded. The motorway nearby was also flooded and the local garden centre was badly flooded with one car in water up to its roof! I made bolognaise sauce in the slow cooker and it'll go in the freezer. And a bit pot of ham and lentil soup which will do for lunches most of this week with some in the freezer too. I had meant to make my spiced red cabbage for Christmas but I don't have ground cloves, neither does Aldi so a trip to Tesco is required. That can wait til tomorrow.
Today it is still raining so I won't venture far. My plan is to make a steak casserole, again in the slow cooker. I'll do some knitting and reading and visit mum at night, if the road isn't flooded. Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Oct-23 07:47:16

Susan I've just read your post. I hope you feel much better today 💐

cornergran Sun 08-Oct-23 07:56:33

That sounds scary susan. Hope you’re much more comfortable today.

Hard to think of all the rain when it’s so warm and sunny here. Please be careful if you’re affected by downpours, floods aren’t fun.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 08-Oct-23 08:01:24

Good morning from a glorious South Downs.

I always think this thread is like an on-line diary with benefits of having a peek at other diaries🙂

Yesterday went as planned - so fridge and cooker cleaned inside and out. Today I will clean down the rest of the kitchen, then hopefully prune roses. I might start my Christmas pudding today. See how I go.
kitty that meal is what I have planned. I “found” a loin of pork when tidying out the freezer. It’s only been in there a month so thought I’d have it the day before I go into hospital.
Not sure how soon I’ll be up and running again, but I have planned normal meals after Thursday.

Prawn and broccoli stir fry with black bean sauce today.

Peace and harmony all.

Urmstongran Sun 08-Oct-23 08:02:16

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry and sunshine later is forecast.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 10°C.
Yesterday we had rain of biblical proportions, with a flood alert which is still in place.

Poor DS was so disappointed at having to cancel his birthday celebrations, due to the trains being off and the Subway flooded.
Instead, he booked a restaurant near his home instead, only to receive a call, saying they were closing due to a power cut.

Nice to see you posting here, Coolgran.

Susan, what a time you are having and Oops, I hope you are on the mend. 💐

Sago, you are a braver woman than me!

Safe journey to all who are travelling. Enjoy your day folks.
