Good Morning Everyone ,
Dark start but remains dry here in brackley .
Yesterdays bus journey was good , I went to the bakery cafe in the main shopping area and had a bacon, egg and grilled tomato sarnie .
Plus did a shop as I am going to have steak and chips today for lunch , as opposed to having pre pared meals .
Should be a quiet day .
Take Care,
Mick

We couldn't stop at Bushmills as the town is closed for a Salmon and Whiskey festival!!!
Fabulous area though.

Jaxjacky Sun 08-Oct-23 14:46:57

Lovely Pittycity are you calling into Bushmills? The Antrim coast is an interesting drive.

Pittcity Sun 08-Oct-23 14:41:32

Good afternoon from the Giant's causeway. I missed posting this morning as we left on an early coach trip and have just got a signal.

A distinct shock to the system Scapa. Thank you for sharing your photos and your holiday with us.

Marydoll Sun 08-Oct-23 11:49:04

Arriving home to the dreadful weather must have been a shock to your system, Scalpal! 😉

Blossoming, I hope you ahve a better day today. 💐

Back home after a wonderful holiday. Going from beautiful blue skies and 30C to flooding and 9C is a shock to the system. I love Italy. We spent the last three nights in Vieste with it’s beautiful caves, beaches and a structure in the Old town called Building Bridges. There is also the rock called the Pizzzomunno Rock on Castello beach which seems to be a photo stop for bus tours. We did have a boat trip into the caves which although smaller than some we have been in were set in beautiful scenery. Oh well as they say back to auld clathes and parridge. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Washing drying outside in the sun. Don’t really like putting it out on a Sunday, but it’s a lovely day here.
I had my covid jab on Friday and felt unwell yesterday so just had a quiet day in with a FaceTime with my sister in the south who is coming here for a few days at the end of the month.

DS flies to New York with his band and taken one of my carry on suitcases.
Will finish the bookgroup book today for meeting on Monday and really enjoying it.
Get well soon Susan, lovely pic Sago and thoughts to all with worries 🌹

Blossoming Sun 08-Oct-23 10:08:00

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire where it is currently 17°C. Glad you had a good day yesterday Mick.

Despite my earlier optimism I was not able to get on with the housework yesterday after becoming unwell. I spent the day in bed which is where I am now.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday ❤️

Good morning everyone from a fine and dry Northampton, set to be.warm all day.

Had a successful shopping trip to the big garden centre yesterday, finding the slippers I wanted in their Pavers outlet. Had my free coffee and a slice of cherry Bakewell, then had a browse around the rest of the centre, which was filling up with Christmas stuff.
Went to get the hourly bus back to the town centre, only for it not to turn up. Waited over 45 minutes for one to appear.
Watched the rugby last night; thought England were woeful and didn't deserve to win. Felt sorry for Samoa. Ireland as usual, brilluant!.
Neighbour sent over the menu for us to select our meal for our 'Close' Christmas dinner in December; 15 of us going out together to a lovely restaurant, and taxis booked for all.
I have chosen smoked salmon, turkey, then dark chocolate mousse....

Have put the bedding in the washing machine, so will make the bed up before I go to rugby this afternoon, should be a good afternoon in the sunshine, with a win making it even better! Hotpot thawing in the fridge, so it will just need reheating when I get back.

Lovely picture Sago, love Norway! We visited the Lofoten Islands on a cruise, and were stunned by their fierce beauty. Majestic spiky, snowy peaks.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good morning all from a decidedly wet Angus coast. It started raining on Friday at about 6pm and hasn't stopped since. We're not immediately affected by flooding round here, but there are no trains running and there seems to be little traffic in and out of the town - although I can't see much through the rain. It's almost like back to lockdown!
So sorry for your holiday weather Lulu.
Your holiday sounds wonderful sago - Norway is such a spectacular country.
I hope your different antibiotics do the trick Susan and you feel better today.
Same for everyone feeling 'under the weather'.
All those planned Sunday lunches and dinners sound delicious. For me it's a steak with Diane sauce accompanied by mixed roast veg, with rhubarb crumble and custard to follow. That's after a slow day of ambling through my latest To Do list. Enjoy your days everyone - and if you find your to do lists written inside your latest good read, so much the better 😉. Take care x

Good morning from dreich Harrogate
Beautiful photo Sago I’m envious of your trip. Hope you feel better Susan and are soon back to normal.
I shall be off to church this morning and late back, cause I’m serving coffee after, and I think the preacher is one that ‘goes the extra mile’. This pm finish the ironing and start sorting what I’m taking to my sisters on Thursday when we travel by train, so have to think more carefully what I take!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a grey, damp NE.
It was mild yesterday so DS and GD2 went for a walk and returned with a carrier bag full of conkers.
Sister and BIL didn't come because there was a Derby match, traffic was bad and they wanted to watch the match.
SIL is quite poorly with covid, he had a fever and his oxygen sats are low, he suffers from asthma too. I am hoping DD doesn't catch it again, she is so run down from her two year illness.
Today I am going to have a quiet day, no need to cook as there was sufficient chicken casserole left from last night, even vegetables.
Thoughts are with Scottish grans in flood areas, I have a few friends who are having problems because they live beside lochs.

baubles Sun 08-Oct-23 09:18:14

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire. We had rain and more rain yesterday but we are quite high so no flooding although the burn which runs through the town was close to bursting its banks.

A quiet day ahead, I’ll try to do something useful after I’ve been to Mass as I frittered yesterday away, doing nothing other than dog walks.

Sorry about your DS’s birthday Marydoll. The best laid plans….aft gang agley.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 08-Oct-23 09:09:44

Morning all

I have just woken up after getting home at 1am this morning. London was heaving, with restaurants and pubs overflowing onto pavements, this warm weather is good for businesses.

A lazy day until we are off out again to a lovely country pub to meet friends for a late Sunday lunch (I haven’t cooked since Thursday 👍🏻)

Will now read the thread

Have a peaceful Sunday 🙋‍♀️🦩

NannyJan53 Sun 08-Oct-23 08:55:57

Good morning from a bright and warm Black Country.

Went for a walk yesterday with Mum along the Staffs railway walk, it was so warm!

Last night we had a BBQ and were sitting outside until almost 10pm. This weather will not last much longer.

Gym this morning, then a walk with a friend this afternoon, Need to make the most of this weather. Hard to believe parts of the country are experiencing heavy rain and floods!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Stilllearning Sun 08-Oct-23 08:55:23

Morning all from South Lanarkshire, dryish and dullish. No floods here thank goodness, being up high we are usually a degree or two less than everyone around us in heat but at the moment it has it’s advantages.

Vigil mass last night so a nice relaxed morning which is lovely, especially as I’ve been called upon for some extra childminding this afternoon.

Another interesting holiday Sago, I was lucky enough to visit Norway earlier this year and thought it beautiful.

Susan that sounds a frightening experience, I hope you feel much better today.

I finished my book club book last night, The Legacy of Elizabeth Pringle by Kirsty Wark and as I won’t be able to make the meeting, have to send in comments so that is this morning’s challenge before I depart. It did give me lots to think about.

As ever my thoughts are with those of us who need them most and I wish everyone pleasant Sunday.

aggie Sun 08-Oct-23 08:55:22

Good morning from a cool still Co Armagh
Have been rushing around tidying before my cleaning friend arrives ,
I’ve done something to my shoulder yesterday , too much idleness followed by bursts of activity I think
Off to Mass soon , I go early to get candles 🔥

Mizuna Sun 08-Oct-23 08:44:07

Sorry that your son's birthday celebrations went awry Marydoll.

EkwaNimitee Sun 08-Oct-23 08:42:02

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle.
Definitely no sun here, haven't seen it for days.

Yesterday I went out shopping, first to Sainsbury's for items I can't get elsewhere then down to the garden centre where I failed to find what I wanted but still succeeded in coming out with plants and bulbs I hadn't gone for! Plus I got my free coffee but sadly fell for the expensive cake...for the last time, cakes anywhere now are ridiculous prices. The place was also full of C*******s tat so I think that will be my last visit before January.

Today, various necessary but tedious household jobs then, if it's dry, some bulb planting otherwise it will be finishing off the papers and doing some admin on the computer. Something always needs doing.

I hope you are sorted now Susan and have a better day.

And the best possible day to you all.

Greyduster Sun 08-Oct-23 08:40:30

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. I don’t think it’s going to cheer up at all today. I managed to be busy yesterday, but I walked to the supermarket, forgot my bag and had to walk back and get it so that I could pay for my shopping, returning in the car!! Today first job is to nip over to a nearby M&S to pick up some trousers I have ordered, then get on with lunch as DD and the menfolk are coming after GS’s football match. Roast pork, followed by apple and blackberry crumble.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Liberty Sun 08-Oct-23 08:35:42

Good morning from a sunny and warm Suffolk. Yesterday’s Apple and Pumpkin festival on the village playing field was well attended with lots of fun games for the youngsters ( and not so young).

DS and DGD3 came to load up wood from an ash tree that was recently felled. The Council did it for free because it’s roots were becoming less secure after 2 dry summers and if it toppled,it would bring down overhead wires which provide electricity to 5 of the 7 houses in our little hamlet.

DS has just had a wood burner fitted in their sitting room, spurred on,I think, by our supply of ash,a wood that can be burnt without having to wait the usual 2 years for it to be seasoned. I think he fancies some applewood but our trees are safe from his or anybody’s axe.

Today will be a quiet one with a walk through the woods nearby and some garden tidying up. Hope today is a peaceful one for all.

GrannySomerset Sun 08-Oct-23 08:31:50

Harvest festival service in the next village and a musical recital this afternoon, so a nice day ahead. A beautiful morning too, which is a bonus.

Hope our Scottish grans are surviving the deluge - it sounds dreadful. Thinking of all those whose health is poor especially Marydoll and Susan.

Jaxjacky Sun 08-Oct-23 08:29:14

Morning from high cloud in S Hants.
Good to hear Mrcorner is getting adventurous.
Hope those antibiotics do the job Susan.
Washing today, a walk, slow cooker whole chicken for dinner, I’ll add some fresh thyme and a splosh of red.
Wishing the poorlies better health.
