Good morning, Mick! I’m pleased to see you start this thread as I was worried! Calm and dry in Torbay.

In haste as I have a dental appointment then back home for an online video physiotherapist session for my hip which, of course, has been easier the last few days! Not sure what can be achieved remotely….!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. We are promised a wet South Yorkshire day today. The gardener came yesterday to give me a price for giving the lawn and hedges what I hope will be a last cut before the winter. While I was washing my car, a former neighbour of ours called by to see if we still lived here and how we were doing. We had a good chat. She says she will call again and bring the younger of her two children, who I haven’t met. He’s two. The one I knew has just started school! How time flies.
Writers group at the library this afternoon and then I will try and get my head around a knitting pattern I bought! It’s a complicated cable. I must have been mad!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning, a dry start to Wednesday here.
I’m off to somewhere new this morning to have coffee with some ladies from Gransnet, very much looking forward to it.
Yesterday I tidied the airing cupboard out and the freezer, next will be the kitchen cupboards I think.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning all from Glasgow. Too early for sunrise and today’s forecast is mostly cloudy and dry.

Hairdresser day. I have decided to change my usual easy option, messy bun look to a short bob cut. Hope I don’t regret it. Oh well, it will soon grow back if I do.

A quick shop, parcel to drop off at the PO to send to DD2 in Australia, scripts to collect will be my outdoors activities today.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and a better day ahead for all with worries and troubles whatever they may be.

Sar53 Wed 11-Oct-23 07:01:44

Good morning from the Essex coast.
We arrived home after 11 last night but our body clock's are still on Turkey time which is 2 hours ahead. Today I must start the washing and do some food shopping.
I'm attaching some pictures of Antalya where we stayed.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from a damp,Bristol. I was reading so missed the first posts. Hope your dentist appointment goes well, Ash.
I finished the pink quilt last night, I’ll start on the next one today.
The lunch went well, my neighbour’s friend didn’t come as she was feeling unwell. The lunch was arranged as I wanted to go to a garden centre; the friend was included later… I bought a load of compost, lots of pansies because they remind me of my grandmother. I also got polyanthus because I love their cheerful vulgarity and colour, dwarf tulip bulbs too
When I got home, I immediately set to clear out my pots, and put the new stuff in. My back didn’t enjoy it at all.
Today, there is a resident coffee morning, then I have my book group. We have been reading “the name of the rose”. Heavy going - give meBrother Cadfael for a medieval whodunnit any day…
Hope today is kind to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, a decent weather day today, dry and a good temperature

I am dressed and waiting for my guests to get up, so far so good and all the pre-planning is paying off wrt catering

I turned my car sat nav on before I drove to fetch them and there was nothing, only a message to tell me to update. Yikes I wasn`t expecting that, my sat nav is like my right hand when I go anywhere. Dashed into the house, scattered my paperwork everywhere but no time and no knowledge so I clung onto distant memory and managed to arrive at the station. An hours drive away

It was a complicated fix but my guest is an IT expert, he works in IT. I was so lucky, I did some of it but he unzipped the file etc. He also taught me how to use google nav as a backup. Off out with my guests later. Craft show soon and also a hair cut on friday. It is a busy week for me

Have a good day

Good morning from a dry cloudy Oxfordshire, no sun yesterday but it seemed warm enough.
Not wishing to blow my own trumpet but I slept all night.

Obviously at the moment I cant really speak without coughing so blowing a trumpet is on my wish list.

Apart from that it’s like Groundhog Day for the 10th day running.

Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Wed 11-Oct-23 07:19:52

Good morning all from a wet North Leicestershire.

We have the decorators again today and I must iron.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes on our wedding anniversary yesterday. DS2 came round for a catch up and we had a Charlie Bigham curry. We know how to live.

monk08 Wed 11-Oct-23 07:20:53

We are taking a trip to Whitby today.
Will catch up later off for shower then down to fresh fruit salad and eggs Benedict.

Good morning from a dark misty Cornwall. Rain coming later. A quiet day at home yesterday resting my knee, though I still managed to move bookcases and use my toolbox to mend my television stand. Did some work on my Boro waistcoat, nearly finished. Have attached it to a hoodie to make it into a jacket. Today must fill my green recycling bag with the leaves covering my patio, from a huge ash tree in the woods above. Lovely quilt gM.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Oct-23 07:31:26

Good morning from a dry but cloudy South Downs. I think rain is forecast for later.

Tomorrow I go in for my operation 😬😬😬. For two pins I would cancel it but then I read what might happen if I allow my gallbladder to remain, and realise I have to be sensible.

So today I have decided to have a relaxed day and rest a bit after my morning walk - give my body enough energy to cope with being butchered!!!

My sister is also talking to her oncologist about the way forward. Her appointment isn’t until 8pm at East Grinstead so her son is taking her rather than me.

So life is all rather medical at the moment.

Vegetable curry tonight

Peace and harmony to all

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another quiet day for me as I’m still under the weather. I thought I’d look up the latest NHS covid guidelines. They have changed from when I last had it about two years ago. You don’t have to take a test (how would you know you have it?) and if you do, you don’t have to let anyone know. That might change next month. You don’t have to self isolate, but you are advised to stay in for 5 days if you are over 18 or 3 days if you are under 18. You are not infectious after that. So I am stuck at home until Saturday. OH will have to collect my medication. He has had covid longer than me and not as severely as he had his booster.
That is a beautiful quilt GM. I’d love to get back into quilting but I fear my arthritic thumbs would find it too difficult.
Have a lovely day everyone especially those with difficulties.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Oct-23 07:36:22

Morning all, cleaning fairies are here this morning, I am off to the gym.

I also have to start looking at wallpaper for the sitting room, paint colours for every room in the house and flooring for one bedroom and the kitchen/hall/laundry/downstairs loo, all of which I am dreading 😱

Lovely quilt grandMattie
Pleased you are back home after your holiday Sar53

Have a great day folks 🦩🙋‍♀️

BlueSapphire Wed 11-Oct-23 07:36:47

Good morning everyone from a wet Northampton; forecast was originally for heavy rain all day, but now it has changed to showers from lunchtime - we shall see.

A good coffee morning yesterday with neighbours, then after lunch I did more heavy pruning of overgrown shrubs, and then cut the back grass.

Must take the Hoover upstairs this morning, then this afternoon I am off to the cinema to see the new Michael Caine film, 'The Great Escaper'; it's had good reviews.

Can get my mug of tea now, as it's half an hour once I took my weekly tablet!

brook2704 Wed 11-Oct-23 07:38:26

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry but still looking windy
Gorgeous pictures Sar especially the waterfall. Pleased you’re home safely
Wishing you all the best for your operation wwm take care
I managed to fit in a couple of hours gardening yesterday afternoon, theres so much to do at this time of year and backing onto woodland doesn’t help with the leaves Today I’m off to the gym first thing for a couple of classes and then looking forward to lunch out with my friend.
Enjoy your trip away monk sounds a lovely place to stay
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grammaretto Wed 11-Oct-23 07:44:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I had the best sleep in a long time and the day looks promising.

Yesterday I made up beds for my NZ Helpers, shopped for essentials and the DGD were brought by their other DGP for play at mine. We had good fun. They dug up the potatoes whilst suggesting I should grow carrots next time !
I'd bought a kids' seed sowing kit from a charity shop too so they enjoyed that.

So nice to read your great news Urms

There are certain advantages to currently being unable to drive Karmalady. But I do feel for you! I use Google maps even for walking directions grin

Glad you enjoyed your curry Kitty😋

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Gala Wed 11-Oct-23 07:50:28

Good morning from a gloomy , cold & wet Sefton. Not much mellow fruitfulness going on out there this autumn morning. Would like to stay right where I am, tucked up under a cosy duvet, but I have a zoom exercise class then Pilates so I really should get up. Nursery pickup this afternoon - GD2 - then staying on for our tea.
Will have to catch up later. Take care all.

Georgesgran Wed 11-Oct-23 07:51:24

Good morning from Durham. Grey, overcast and windy here.
Taking a friend to a 9am ENT appointment, then I have an appointment at the same hospital myself later. A bit worried about it if I’m honest.
I’ll arrange my Covid and ‘flu jabs, once I know what’s what.
Best wishes to all. X

Alygran Wed 11-Oct-23 07:56:01

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy and breezy at the moment.
Off to the dentist this morning. I had some emergency treatment on Friday and it seemed to settle the pain over the weekend but it’s not good again. Hoping for a better solution as I’m off on holiday for a few days with DD1 on Sunday.
Film night in the village tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day.

grandMattie Wed 11-Oct-23 07:58:26

llfl, my quilts are entirely machine sewn apart from the back sashing and edges which are hand sewn.

cornergran Wed 11-Oct-23 08:04:50

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset has cloud cover, looks undecided out there.

Blood test and flu jabs accomplished two trips out we (OK - I grin ) finally found some cushion covers to go with the curtains and rug in our living room. Fussy? Me? Yes!

An at home sorting and organising day today. Towels to wash, no ironing left thank goodness.

Wishing you well for your operation and recovery whitewave. My cousin is currently touring the US grandmattie, she’s very excited about quilts and the quilting community there. Material is being purchased to bring back for her own endeavours. Always making something.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolkwhere rain is predicted this afternoon.

I have my monthly panel which is just a morning one and then plan to go shopping for all the bits and pieces I need for my trip to India next week….insect repellent etc. when I checked what was lurking in the bathroom cupboard the expiry date on the one there was 2016 which DH said must have been for our trip to Myanmar.

He is still pursuing Shell re our electricity direct debit. With no explanation he got an email saying that it had been reduced from over £750 to £340! This totally ignores the evidence he has sent showing with evidence that our consumption has been very steady over the last 2 years and has not increased as dramatically as they say. Dry frustrating and time consuming to deal with.

Lovely pink cheery quilt,*GM*.
