Mine is in sleep mode from midnight to 8.00am, which is when I try to sleep, although usually I am awake much later. My husband (who is usually with me during those times) and my children can get through at any time, and anything else can wait.
It's with me most of the time, but I switch it off (or onto theatre mode) when getting calls would be rude. I can feel a vibration on my watch if a text or call comes through, so in the unlikely event of an emergency I could deal with it by glancing at my watch to see the first line of a text. Otherwise, if I am in a meeting (Zoom or 'real'), in the cinema or theatre or with friends it is effectively off. My phone is in my bag if I am out, or on the coffee table at home, where it stays when I leave the room to eat. I can't bear having meals interrupted by phones. I charge it by the bed, which is a hangover from when the children were out late, or when they first left home and I would have been the first person they'd call if something happened. That's much less likely now, as I am too far away to help out quickly, and anyway they have partners who would be their first post of contact these days, but they could still get through if they needed me.
I don't get many notifications either. Emails wait until I am ready to check them, and I don't get 'pings' for very much. A friend of mine is constantly checking her phone, as every direct debit or payment is notified, every email pings, she is notified about special offers and sales for all sorts of things and so on. She checks every one instantly as though it's a possible emergency, but I like to be less 'available' than that.
