Good Morning Everyone,
A dark , dry and cold start this morning in brackley .
Today ,an easy day in will do some lunch, and then relax with TV.
I had plan to get a Chinese take away yesterday , but body decided otherwise .
I am hoping normality returns to my system which could last up to 6 months before normal routines occur .
Take Care,
Mick

Morning Mick, morning All. 5 degrees out there and the heating is on. Decent day forecast for our corner of Somerset.

We were at our local theatre last night, a 60’s concert. Loved it. Such a good atmosphere and not too many creaks on stage. Our daughter in law is progressing well, out of icu into hdu yesterday, amazing.

A walk along the river today and not much else. The plumber is due at 8am tomorrow, help, I’m not a morning person but then from what I recall neither is she.

Hope Sunday gives everyone something to smile about.

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Oct-23 08:35:27

Morning from a frosty S Hants, 4deg, heating on and so is my thermal t shirt and socks.
A good walk yesterday, as I got home my daughter and our granddaughter arrived. They stayed for a while, we discussed Christmas (we’re going there for the first time) and we’ve got one Christmas list, from Imogen.
Disappointing rugby, hopefully England will do better today. Beef stew in slow cooker for dinner, lots of root veg, sprouts and mash.
Take care all.

God morning all from Glasgow, where its only 1°C.

I love red cabbage, but have never been able to replicate the one I had in a French restaurant in Chester many moons ago. If anyoneone feels happy to share their recipe, I would be delighted.

Today is another day of doing nothing, the room spins if I exert myself too much, but there is only so much you can watch on You Tube. Reading a book is impossible just now, my concentration has gone to pot. It's very difficult to remain positive, when my life is on hold at the moment.

Yesterday, my brain was particularly mushy, when I was trying to email out the parish bulletin. About half an hour later, I received a phone call from a Glesca Granny, asking why I had sent her our bulletin! I really have lost the plot.
We had a good natter for an hour, what a tonic! Life can be quite lonely just now. Thank you Jangran!💕

Thank you for your good wishes, it does help to keep my spirits up.
I continue to keep all of you in my prayers.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Hope you don't feel too glum today, Mdoll flowers. I use this German recipe for red cabbage. It's lush!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs where the sun is shining, but it is, as we say up ‘ere, nitherin’!! No idea what is on the cards today. I have started some knitting which will occupy me, and a legion of small jobs are awaiting my attention. And i must work something up for next week’s writers group. Georgesgran I’m glad it’s not only my house that groans and creaks!!
Have a good day, folks.

Marydoll Sun 15-Oct-23 08:53:12

Thank you Baggs

We were talking yesterday of having another Glesca Grannies meet up, when I feel a bit better. I'm missing my grans pals, it's such an enjoyable afternoon.
Hopefully see you then. X

Bright and cold here in Co Durham.
Had a quiet week, enlivened by the readout on the car screen suddenly turning into Spanish and KPH ! Took a little while to sort it but I finally cracked it.
Made a large pan of stew yesterday, ready to freeze in portions for DH to eat while I’m in Scotland in a week’s time.
Wishing all those feeling poorly or with poorly family a better day.
Just reading papers before cycling through The Archers as per usual.

ginny Sun 15-Oct-23 08:55:48

Good morning. There is definitely a chill in the air now, although at the moment the sun is shining in N.Bucks.
Yesterday I had a good walk down to the town , passing the Doctors surgery. The door was open and a lady who I know by sight recognised me and and we chatted for a few minutes. She was helping with the flu jabs but said that quite a few people hadn’t turned up for appointments . I asked if they were doing any walk ins and before we knew it DH and I were jabbed and on our way.
In the afternoon my friend who lives around the corner asked if I’d like a cup of tea and chat. So I left DH to the rugby and spend a pleasant couple of hours with her.
Today is blank apart from a walk although probably not as far as yesterday. Maybe some crafting.
Kind and healing thoughts to all who need them. A hope everyone can find a smile in their day.

Good morning Mick and All.

Good to see you posting today Mary 👍 To fill you time when you are resting can I suggest podcasts from BBC sounds. I have the app on my mobile and I listen through my hearing aids. Can I recommend ‘Life Changing’ by Dr Sian Williams, she used to be on the radio some years back, but left to be with her 4 children, trained as a psychologist and now interviews people with fascinating stories. I’ve listened to about 20 so far.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, only 4° outside,.but set to be fine all day, so I have a load of washing on at the moment.

Yesterday was lovely, but so nearly a disaster! I went early for my flu jab, then got the bus into town to go to Milton Keynes. Had half an hour to wait in town, so went for a coffee. Looked up the bus time on my phone, it was running 20 minutes late. Got carried away on GN, rushed for the bus - lo and behold, it had been on time and I had missed it and the next one not due for an hour!
Nearly went home, but couldn't hear the thought of that, so decided to go to Rushden Lakes instead, that bus being only 20 mins to wait.
Got there, went straight for lunch (spaghetti pomodoro and a glass of red) which was delicious, then had a browse round the shops. Was in Acc*****orise, looking for ear-rings for DGD's birthday, when I felt a tap on my shoulder, looked round and it was DD! What a lovely surprise! She was out for a shop before they go to Budapest for a few days break. We went for a coffee and had a really good catch-up.

Then on with my shopping,.went to M&S, got exactly the jeans I was looking for, and with my £20 voucher, only paid £2.50 for them. Then to Next, where I came across a lovely jumper in my rugby team colours of black, green and gold, so of course had to have it!

Went for my bus home (which was on time!) and eventually go home at 6pm, tired.but happy.

Today, I plan on making the Christmas puddings once I have hung the washing out - that will keep me busy. I shall make them in the microwave, been doing so with the same recipe for nearly 30 years, so I know it works! Shall feed them well with brandy afterwards....
Then watch rugby this afternoon/ evening.
Roast chicken for dinner.

Happy Sunday everyone.

EkwaNimitee Sun 15-Oct-23 09:20:55

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but cold Carlisle. It was 1C when I got up and the bird bath was frozen over. Must get the outside tap turned off shortly, one of a lengthening list of little jobs I want to get done today.

Yesterday, I went to the garden centre to get more of the violas I bought last weekend...barely any of that particular variety left so I was lucky. I also got even more tulip bulbs, my passion, they will go somewhere....I spent part of the afternoon planting some of them and the violas. I then had a hack at an extremely vigorous rose bush. I knew it would make a large bush when I bought it for a back corner of the garden, but it is exceeding its brief and is absolutely rampant. I swear it grows metres overnight. It keeps shooting into the garden of the house next door, thankfully largely unoccupied, and could cause some nasty scratches to the face if not noticed. I was going to cut it down to base but I think it will have to go, sadly.

I hope you all have a good day and all you poorlies feel better soon.

Grammaretto Sun 15-Oct-23 09:31:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Icy cold, heating's on.
I need to bring in my garden planters before they crack

Great Saturday at the seaside cooking up foraged food in a Dutch oven with a lovely group of people. I brought home bunches of buckthorn to process hide in the freezer

Have a good day everyone whatever it brings.

Urmstongran Sun 15-Oct-23 09:32:32

Good morning everyone from a sunny but very chilly south Manchester. We have no plans. I’ve got TIB. The heating clicked on earlier. I might find a DVD for us to watch this afternoon. Maybe ‘Uncle Buck’. An old film but a good one and it makes us chuckle. Once we’ve watched it, it can go in the charity bag with some others. I’m slowly culling our stash and plan to save only a very few real favourites on the bookcase now as Netflix seems to reign supreme in here nowadays!

Here’s Matt.

Good morning all from the East Yorkshire countryside. It is a beautiful sunny autumnal day but there’s a light frost on top of the car. It feels very chilly despite the heating being on.
I hope I haven’t left it too late to plant a few bulbs in one of my pots on the decking. Not being a gardener and only getting round to buying them yesterday.

I’ve been unwell for most of the week but feel a lot better now.
Today we shall be cleaning up and it needs to be gleaming for next weekend when I have a friend coming over on her first visit to the lodge! Will have a walk up to the coffee shop after that. Later we are going to lunch at the restaurant on the park next door who have just started doing a Sunday roast. Pork for me we are deliberating starter and main or main and dessert. I’d prefer the latter.

Anyway enough going on about nothing from me.
Best wishes to all poorly grans, ones with worries etc 💐

harrigran Sun 15-Oct-23 09:35:23

Good morning from a sunny but cold NE, heating has been on continuously.
DS and family visited yesterday.
Today is my younger sister's birthday, not be seeing her as we had lunch together during the week.
Have the best day you can.

Taichinan Sun 15-Oct-23 09:50:12

Very quick hello-goodbye this morning as I'm off up country for a coffee with an old friend. It's cloudy but bright on the Angus coast, and 8°. It sounds as if it's warmer up here than further south!
So glad your DD doesn't have glandular fever gingster - that's so debilitating.
Marydoll sorry you're still so poorly.
I shall come back and read through all the posts later, but must dash and get ready now. Enjoy your Sunday everyone, however you spend it x

keepcalmandcavachon Sun 15-Oct-23 09:55:45

Peace and love to all x

Gwenisgreat Sun 15-Oct-23 10:01:01

Good morning all from sunny but chilly Cheam. I haven’t read any posts yet but hope to manage through the day. Yesterday we got the super loop bus to Kingston on Thames and enjoyed a walk along the river and lunch in John Lewis. When we got back my niece popped who I saw briefly last year. On Friday we visited a beautiful village called Shere and had lunch in a pub where we met up with a cousin whom I last met at another cousin’s funeral. Apparently the pub had played a part in a recent film - Holiday!
Today it’s church. Then my nephew will come for lunch, and I think a trip to Sutton is in order.
Have the best day possible

Georgesgran Sun 15-Oct-23 10:34:27

Just to add my hug for Harrigran yesterday - very hard to have the date of your anniversary so close to your DSis birthday.
Forgot to say that last night, when I was walking Little Dog near the railway line - the Flying Scotsman chuffed past, heading South. I was stupidly excited!

hollysteers Sun 15-Oct-23 10:44:54

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Nice day yesterday in the city with old friend. I picked up my train tickets from the machine against my trip at the end of the month then we had lunch in one of my favourite restaurants. Sadly the service was extremely slow and the bass from the club below was so loud it was throbbing through the floor (wooden of course..) Combined with loud chattering, it was hard to talk. Then to art shop for artist friend to buy a white pen which didn’t work when he got home.
By the time all this had happened we didn’t have very much time in the gallery, which was a shame, so repaired to arts centre for coffee and long chat to put the world to rights.
I fell asleep for too long in front of the tv when home.
Quiet day today.
Will read through later and thoughts to all with troubles as always 🌹

Blossoming Sun 15-Oct-23 11:12:43

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, where it is currently 8°C.

I was in and out of the shower quite quickly this morning! We are going out and I didn’t want to wait for the bathroom to warm up.

I will read the full thread later, wishing you all a peaceful Sunday 🌻

Good morning gransnetters. What a beautiful day it was here in Central Scotland yesterday and it looks like more of the same today. We had a lovely walk at Culross along part of the Fife coastal path with lovely views of the bridges. Lots of people had the same idea and parking was limited. Don't know where we will.go today but don't want to waste the sun. Bedding hung out and it dried yesterday repeat performance with the towels today. After all the rain it is good to get the washing hung out. Just about to make soup, Mand S steak deal for dinner. It does us twice I couldn't eat such a big piece of steak at one time nowadays. Will freeze one half. Thoughts with all the poorlies.
