Good Morning Tuesday 17th October 2023
(48 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Today for me a quite day in , things to do like laundry etc.
I did go out yesterday despite wind chill , just a shop returning home and watching TV.
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
So glad you are getting somewhere Marydoll
Good morning all , from a cold dull Co Armagh
Hung the wash out last evening , I’ll have to take it in now , rain forecast , but it has had a good blow
My visitors are still here , out for coffee , winter boot buying and lunch , must remember my cc number !
Thoughts and prayers for those who need them , glad you are hopefully being helped Marydoll 🕯️🕯️
The leak saga looks like being a long one. Competent neighbour stopped it with a half turn of a screw driver but the damage to kitchen ceiling and wall and sitting room ceiling too will take an age to dry out before repainting, and I dare not switch on the kitchen lights, so I am absolutely fed up. And the en suite loo is not usable! However, another plumber is coming this morning and I suppose things will dry out eventually so I am trying to be positive.
Meanwhile I am awaiting a delivery this afternoon so will not be able to go supermarketing as planned, but starvation is highly unlikely.
Glad to read Marydoll’s news and hope things move rather more quickly than they have so far.
Good morning from Essex and I’m late to the party.
We had little gd overnight and I took her to school. Not sure if she’s going back to mum tonight yet. She desperately wants to.😥. She’s a good girl and never makes a fuss , very resilient but just wants to be with her mum.
Dh has gone out for brekkie with two old school pals and I have Bridge club this afternoon.
Hope all the poorlies are gradually improving.🙏
*Went to bed
Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, where it is currently 8°C.
The humidifier arrived yesterday, MrB unpacked it and it’s just waiting to be switched on.
I managed to do quite a lot yesterday and went to be tired but happy. Unfortunately, pride comes before a fall. On my way back from the bathroom early this morning I fell over. I think I will have a few bruises and I have made a terrible mess of my right thumb.
I think I may be mostly sitting or lying down today
Marydoll
Thoughts with those dealing with troubles.
Have a good day 🌹
Good morning from a cold West York's heating is on out to small market this morning ,maybe lunch out. Washing on line is just hanging so can't see it drying.
Good news Marydoll .Thoughts with poorlies .
Good morning everyone from Severnside. Cold again but no rain forecast for today.
I’ve got some washing in the machine ready to be dried today before the storm.
I’ve only just got up as I kept waking during the night. I wasn’t really cold but I think I’ll put a bigger tog quilt on the bed for tonight.
I’ll go and read the thread now 🌺
Good morning all - bright but nippy here.
Well the heating went on yesterday. I had been given a new timer control etc thingy in the course of last year and had absolutely no idea 🤷 of how to set it as I had only been using hot water since Spring.
1) find the book
2) find the relevant bit of the book
3) move everything (bread maker, dog dishes) right away from control panel so that I can get close enough to decipher the TINY words
4) translate the book from the Klingon these things seem to have been written in, into words of one syllable.
I should have got “the man” to do it when he fitted it but I was all “ oh I’ll be fine thank you” It took nearly an hour. I just hope the clock part resets itself when the clocks go back 😱
Cleaner coming today - shame really as I tossed and turned until nearly 3 and fancied a lie in. First World problems.
Kind thoughts to you all, especially those in need
Good morning Mick and all from a cold northwest coast. Succumbed to putting the heating on.
DD moves into her new flat in the south this weekend and I have sent her an expensive candle she has had before from me, although it’s delayed and a message to say I can get a refund if not delivered by the 19th, which sounds ominous.
FaceTime with sister in the south yesterday and I watched ‘Queen Bee’ with Joan Crawford at her suggestion. Black and white and dated, but fun.
Music club today, so will have a warm up with my songs and pull myself together after a couple of days of lolling about.
I’ve had ups and downs with opera companies and accompanying politics over the years Ashcombe, it’s a drag..
Thoughts to all with troubles as always🌹
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Frost on the grass today which is pretty but Brrr.
I almost fainted on my U3A walk yesterday and wimped out after 5 miles.
I was made a fuss of by the others, given sweeties and a companion to sit with while someone went ahead and drove back for us. I was fine afterwards just overheated and unfit!
Today some easy shopping and housework homework as it's my Gaelic class tonight.
I'm going to cook haggis and neeps for my Kiwi Helpers who did a mountain of work yesterday. He chainsawed and chopped the 3 trees which had been felled recently while she dug my veg patch. They had a go in the pottery yesterday too.
Good news Marydoll at long last. 😊
It's so nice to find a genuinely concerned GP. She's a keeper.
We had one throughout DH illness. Unfortunately she's now retired!
Hope you feel better soon Mick and WWM and others who are poorly.
Ash I hope you won't miss your role too much.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester. By ‘eck it’s nippy but at least it’s dry. My sister who lives with her husband in Estapona since retirement says it’s 26°C there later today. Lovely weather.
No Matt. I think he must be away at present.
x
Good morning Mick and everyone from frosty but bright Carlisle.
Yesterday's cloudy start became a mild sunny afternoon so I got out bulb planting and doing a bit of weeding. I'm still eyeing the box of crocus bulbs that need planting in the lawn. It just won't be today though.
I shall finish off the laundry and housework today and then there are plenty of little odd jobs to occupy me if I so wish, and plenty of nicer things too. I'm also slowly starting to haul out my winter clothing, the winter weight duvet is already on the bed, the heating is on first thing and in the evening.
The good thing about planting bulbs is that it makes you think of spring and forget about the unpleasant bit in between! Time seems to fly so quickly these days that it will soon be here...
NanKate you should be more than miffed! I suppose they can't try and rectify matters since they've failed you?
Marydoll I hope something can be done for you sooner rather than later.
And have the best possible day all of you.
Jacs I made have used similar words!
Marydoll I bought a new ipad mini last week and it took me two days to get it up and running. Eventually I had to manually load everything up; I said a few words I didn’t even know I knew! Glad your appointment went ok.
Good morning Mick and All from a chilly South Bucks.
Glad things are looking up for you Mary 👍
Feeling rather miffed. In June I had a successful simple eye operation on left eye, then the company who did this for the NHS were removed. I then went on a long NHS list for the right eye. We decided to go private for the right eye which cost £1,750 for a 5 minute procedure. Well it hasn’t worked. ☹️
Marydoll, I’m so glad the GP took time to listen, even happier that she has ideas as to what is causing your deterioration. I sincerely hope that a hospital appoint comes winging to soon really soon. ❤️🌺
Good morning from a brightening W Kent. DF coming this morning for a cuppa and chat so I have just put the heating on for a short while. Later I have an appointment with the nurse regarding cholesterol not sure why as the statins were a disaster, we shall see.
Best wishes to all
Good morning all from chilly Cheam. Enjoy your DGDs poem reading Susan. Don’t blame you for resigning from the committee Ashcombe. The can be very tying and take u a lot of time. I feel I’ve done my time on committees and am now trying to steer clear of them. Sorry to hear you, too are having down under trouble Whitewave. Hope it’s not too disruptive.
Had a lovely day yesterday in St Albans, think today we are off to Epsom (but not to the races). Last time I was there with a friend who has since died.
Tomorrow we travel back home!
Have the best possible day possible folks
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a misty, cool South Yorkshire. I have put the heating on - seems to be working ok but the boiler is having it’s first service on Friday so hopefully any glitches will be ironed out then. I had a lot of problems with pressure dropping last winter. (I have thrown a tea towel over the smart monitor so that I don’t have to see how much it is costing me!!). I feel a bit chesty this morning, but no sore throat now. I cleaned out my kitchen drawers yesterday, made a batch of chilli and cut the front lawn. No real plans for today - depends what the weather is going to do.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning all from a foggy Glasgow, where it is 0°C.
Gosh ginny, what a great recovery you are having.
WWM, sorry to hear you are having a blip.
I received such kindness from the very patient lady GP yesterday. She was quite shocked at how much my current ill health had impacted on my quality of life.
She thinks she may have an idea what is wrong, but has is seeking advice from an ENT consultant and my rheumatology consultant. It looks as if my new biologic treatment has caused BPPV, it is a rare side effect. They are so toxic and my conditions are impacting on each other.
She and I were pleased to learn that my heart isn't the cause.
It won't be an easy fix and of course hospital appointment waiting lists are very long.
I feel so relieved that I have a diagnosis now. I had my affairs in order and my funeral service planned! 😉
DH and I spent the afternoon syncing our new tablets with our old ones. Thank goodness I have IT expertise. It should have been simple, but wasn't. I don't know how others manage.
There are still problems getting my email accounts sorted. I will need to phone the Diocesan tech support team to get my Diocesan email account sorted. I am locked out because I changed my Microsoft password. 😡
Thank you to Wigwamgran for taking the time to offer advice yesterday. We know we do owe something, but nothing like the extortionate amount they are claiming, so we will use that payment to offset what we owe.
DH has contacted Scottish Gas to say that we have forwarded all our paperwork to the Ombudsman. I'm not holding my breath.
I wish you all a pleasant and gentle day, mine will be a quiet one.
Bit windy down South. And the wind is coming from an unusual direction.
I may go shopping sooner rather than later.
Though the forecast isnt actually too bad.
Jacs7 I got called for jury service once.
The man pleaded guilty before it all went to trial.
Suited me.
Never got called since.
Good morning from Durham. It’s only 1degree, grey, but at least not windy. I’ve slept awkwardly and my shoulder is aching.
Out for coffee with a friend this morning. She usually likes to sit outside, so I’ll have to wrap up well. Chiropodist this afternoon and a walk with Little Dog later. DD2 etc back yesterday and I’d like her thoughts on some new furniture for my conservatory.
I’m hoping our poorlies are a little better today and those post op take things easy.
Best wishes to all. X
