Good morning all from soggy and cool South Lanarkshire.
Today is the last time I’ll have to feed DGD’s snake as they come home tomorrow. The things you do for love!
I’m having a locally reared, completely organic chicken delivered today. The price is eye watering so I’m hoping that it tastes wonderful but at least I can feel virtuous for a little while.
Thank you for all your good wishes yesterday, it means a lot.
Thinking of those affected by the storm, the images on the media are awful.
Wishing all those who are coping with illness and worry the best day possible.

(56 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Dark but dry with signs of wetness on ground here in brackley .
I plan to do a usual Saturday with a bus trip plus have a breakfast type sarnie in my bakery cafe in Bicester .
return home and hopefully a Chinese take Away later
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning everyone from a very damp Northampton, don't think it's actually raining at the moment, but showers are forecast later.
Had a day in yesterday due to the weather, made a curry in the slow cooker, sorted out the cupboard below my bedside table, cleaned the en-suite and did a load of washing. I now have 4 portions of chicken curry to put in the freezer today.
A hotpot to get in the slow cooker this morning, and then a quick skim through the papers.
Out to rugby this afternoon, playing at home today against Bath or Bristol, can't remember which! Shall have to go suitably dressed in waterproofs - two weeks ago I was in a t-shirt and sandals! Looking forward to seeing DD and DS-in-law at the game.
Good luck to our two Saints boys playing in tonight's rugby semi-final - Courtney Lawes in the pack, and Alex Mitchell at scrum half. COYS!
Looked at the Texture site last night - some one hide my credit cards please!
BlueSapphire, my Texture parcel is due to arrive this morning. 😉
Good morning from a very wet, soggy Durham, although it’s not actually raining here. Ever the optimist, I’ve put a wash on - it can tumble dry if necessary.
Just a home and garden day today, after yesterday’s busy afternoon split between my DGSs. The drive home in the dark was a bit hairy, with standing water invisible ‘til the last minute.
I may manage a coffee with a friend later, she’s now driving short distances after her back trouble.
I hope the weekend is kind to those a little lost, lonely or not feeling too well - I find the onset of the darkness unsettling.
Best wishes to all. X
Morning from South Lanarkshire, I’m glad to be reading the thread early enough to join in. The last ten days or so have been so out of my usual pattern I have been quite discombobulated!
From last weekend I spent a lovely few days staying with friends near Keswick, the weather was mild and only drizzly at times. We travelled over the Honister Pass to Buttermere by bus and I hope those drivers are well paid! I had my eyes closed at nearly every extremely sharp and steep bend.
Wandering lonely as a cloud it wasn’t, but beautiful of course. A little gentle walking, interesting conversation and a visit to The Theatre on the Lake made for a lovely break.
The rest of the week has had rather a lot going on so I’ve missed quite a bit of everyone’s news but all who need support have been in my thoughts. Our weather here has been very windy but otherwise okay and I hope we hear from Taichenan soon.
Wishing everyone the best of days.
Good morning from a soggy Leamington. Torrential rain for a lot of the day yesterday but I managed to stay dry on the school runs.
DD1 and SIL will be back at some stage today. The girls have been easy to look after. What a difference to when they were babies/toddlers.
A lazy day ahead.
Thinking of all those Gransnetters in the North of the country and Scotland.
Have the best day xx
Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Haven't read through yet have not long been up have done a lot of sleeping since having the shingles jab its left me very tired.
We were unable to have our covid jabs yesterday we weren't told until we got there that because we'd had shingles one the day before at least a week is needed between them.
A small leak has developed in the utility room need to find paperwork I think it may still be under guarantee.
Usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans.☀️
Morning from a brightening S Hampshire, an odd fb post ‘has a farmer lost any cows? There are about 20 in our road’ this is about a mile from us, they have been claimed 🙂.
Apart from random cows a quiet day is planned, newspaper, football then rugby.
My son and his girlfriend joined us for a drink in our local last night, we had a good chat, some Christmas reminiscing. My daughter and our grandchildren are now on half term holiday, I hope we get some dry days.
Enjoy your Saturday if you can, thoughts with those troubled.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It rained a lot last night but I was nice and cosy, on the bed watching ‘Beckham’ on Netflix. Himself was watching the American Grand Prix qualifying round. We never seem to watch anything together our interests very rarely overlap!
More of the same today I expect. It’s stopped raining at least. I need to pop into our larder downstairs at some point as the fridge only contains milk, butter and a box of cherries. The Boy Wonder and L’il Miss are on half term holiday next week so I hope a visit can be arranged at some point.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s only raining a bit now. Both local main roads are flooded so getting east from the village is a 20 mile detour! Fortunately all my activity is based in the village this weekend. Coffee morning then out to the pub for dinner this evening. Some knitting in between.
I had slightly sore arms after my jabs but no headache . Hope those getting theirs today are ok too.
Stay warm and safe everyone.
MaryD mine too- such quick service- I finished the order and very quickly it seemed, the email to say the items were being dispatched arrived. Such lovely clothes in that site BlueS, I know what you mean…
Good morning all from grey dull N Bucks.
I hope everybody is keeping safe and dry, especially grans and families in the worst affected areas.
Having one of those bleak days so will say no more but send kind thoughts to all with their own personal mountains to climb.
So excited I forgot to say Good Morning to all, hope you have as good a day as is possible. x
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Nice art session yesterday and I will use my artwork for my DGDs birthday next month. Saw an amusing play in the evening, a young present day couple who decide to live their life 1950s style and the problems that come with that. I came home and as it wasn’t v late, watched a little tv and dropped off to sleep in front of it. I should go straight to bed…
I have a CT scan tomorrow for my hernia, amazingly quick ad I only saw the consultant on Thursday! Another 40 Mike round trip. I did a u turn yesterday in a small road with high pavement and have banged my front bumper. Rather a large split🙄 As long as the tyre is ok.
Blossoming yes, I would be interested in the exercises for my hernia, thank you.
Thoughts to all with troubles 🌺
Good morning all from a very windy and very soggy Angus coast where as ever I say thank goodness for my hill! Things are beginning to quieten down now - gale force winds are merely stormy, and the deluge of rain is a friendly torrential. Those poor riverside folks in Brechin won't be free of it for some time after it stops though as there is still the run-off from the hills to come.
I was without power for 22 hours which wasn't too bad. I have a wonderfully effective paraffin heater on which I discovered I could heat enough water for the occasional coffee, and plenty of 'sandwich makings'. I also had a torch with spare batteries and two good books to read My main worry was communication as I couldn't re-charge my phone or hearing aids. However I made a swift foray into the 21st century and, thanks to DS1, located the USB point in my car (well, I've only had it for 8 years - you can't expect me to learn everything all at once 😉!). I had just put my defunct hearing aids on to charge when - of course - the power was reconnected. And thanks to battery saving mode my phone's battery was still at 50% in spite of the almost constant contacts from family, bless them. End of drama.
My cousins in Framingham in Suffolk are also having a bit of drama, but like me they are on a hill slight rise and so are above the flood waters.
Thank you for your thoughts everyone and let's hope Babet will be leaving us soon.
Thoughts as always to those going through hard times 🙏
. Enjoy your day everyone and stray cosy, dry and home x
Good morning from West York's it rained heavily all yesterday until the early hours this morning, we have a leak in our back bedroom so that's oh up in lift to see what's what.We had 3short power cuts during the night so a poor night a small problem compared to some. Take care all .
Glad you are safe and hopefully reconnected to power etc Taichinan - you sound very calm and composed especially considering how serious things have been! 👏👏👏
Excellent news Taichinan sounds like you are very able to cope in emergencies.
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 9°C.
No rain today so far. Family and friends in the North East are all okay, a great relief.
Friday night is film night at Blossoms Towers. Last night we decided on two Sam Rockwell films. First was The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Brilliant books, radio serial and TV series, but the film version was dreadful! We gave up after half an hour and went to our next choice, Duncan Jones’ film Moon. It was fabulous so our Friday night was saved. Duncan Jones is of course the son of David Bowie so perhaps not surprising he’s so talented. We were late to bed so had a lie in. No real plans for today, we’ll see how it goes.
Somewhat envious of all those expecting parcels from Texture today, I may revisit the Style thread and check out a few sites. Just ‘window shopping you understand
As always my thoughts are with those dealing with troubles, may today bring some comfort.
Have a good day all 🌹
Taichinan it's good to hear from you. I'm glad all is well with you
Good morning all from a bit calmer and dry at the moment Glasgow.
Thank goodness you are on that hill Taichinan. Images of Brechin were heart wrenching.
We had a pleasant day yesterday when DD1 visited like a breath of fresh air with the adorable Millie who is now 7 months. typical Lab hoovering up anything edible. When DD tells her to find Granny, her whole body wobbles with excitement, could be due to the fact I always have a treat for her.
No need to go out today so an at home day it is.
Hopefully a pleasant day is ahead for all along with thoughts of those, no matter what they may be, difficult times.
My parcel has arrived. The purple coat has exceeded my expectations! Now I just need to be well again and get out to wear it!
Glad to hear you are OK, Taichinan.
Good morning everyone from Severnside. I got up late as I went to bed late.
I did a lot of nodding off yesterday. It was so miserable when I did my shopping that it made me feel teary and I was glad to get back home.
I’ve taken a look at the Texture site, saw a few things I liked but am behaving myself. I have decided not to go random buying just because I like it after looking in my wardrobe and seeing clothes that haven’t been worn in a while. I do need some vest though as I used mine for stuffing a costume for my daughter.
Up I go into the attic today for a spot of decluttering.
Have a good day all 🌺
Wear it when you go for your boosters Marydoll.
Good morning all from an at the moment sunny Algarve. We’ve got patches of blue sky and larger patches of fluffy white clouds, although the clouds are heavy with suspicious grey patches.
I’m glad that you are alright and coped so well Taichinan. We are on a hill too and when the rain is thudding down and surrounding areas flooded it is quite reassuring. Not so good in strong winds though.
We have decided to have lunch out today although DH is lying down again at the moment. He seems to have stopped fighting the extreme tiredness since he saw the doctor last week. Whether it’s conscious or unconscious I don’t know.
