Where are my glasses

Loose my glasses all the time but I won’t use buy a cord for them that goes round my neck

I keep my phone safely down my bra, always.

I have my prescription reading glasses. Also two pairs from my last prescription. And a pair of prescription glasses for the desktop computer which I use a lot, they stay at the computer....in theory.
I also bought several pairs of cheap reading glasses - a pair in the bathroom, a pair at the bedside, a pair in the kitchen, a pair in the garage, a pair in the car. Why is there never a pair to hand? Try my dressing gown pocket or two pairs in my handbag, on the landing table, set down in a spare bedroom.

In the good old days when I was a busy secretary and smoked, I was on the phone to a client when I realised the cigarette I was smoking was not in the ashtray. Panicked, opened the file I was using to check I had not "filed it", only to find the offending fiery object was in the hand holding the phone!
Cannot begin to relate what I do with phones, glasses(2 pairs), hearing aids, etc now that I am in my eighties. Haven't lost the car yet!

Love to read all these as makes me realize how we are nearly all in the same boat, if of a similar age. Phone and glasses - me too - haven't got a home phone so if I lose my mobile I have to pm my daughter on Facebook to ring it for me.

Well, it's an age thing.....but yesterday my 2 year old grand-daughter said 'Where's my tiger?' (soft toy) - and she was carrying it! along with other things.

Solution: I wear a pinny every day, it has a big pocket on the front, all the 'stuff' I need goes into the pocket.

Varifocals… I got my first pair with clear glass at the top because I wasted so much time looking for them. I worked in a beauty salon with individual rooms and was always needing to disturb other therapists on my hunts.

Apple fones are waterproof from 14 upwards!
Water resistant below that ! Just a thought.🤷🏻‍♀️

After losing my reading glasses for about the tenth time on one particularly stressful day I bought six pairs, and left them by the bed, the computer, in the kitchen, sitting room and dining room, and put a pair in my bag.

It’s called having a senior moment. Five a day then becomes old age and forgetting how to recognise them becomes? Worrying.
Not for you but for people who know you.

Rosie 1959 I also carry down washing and my 'phone together and am terrified of putting the mobile into the washing machine. I am sure it is easily done.

I hope your 'phone may just dry out and work again.....

Some years ago I searched the house from top to bottom for 3 days looking for my glasses with no success. Then my husband called me when I was at work “found your glasses” he said… They were at the back of the fridge 🫣

Similar thing happens with my phone!

I spent a whole year accusing dh of losing the car keys (we had a spare set fortunately) only to find them in the pocket of a coat I very rarely wore. Cringe! I owned up and he loves to remind me.

In our house it's not just glasses.
Not long ago, OH was almost throwing a tantrum one breakfast time when he couldn't find one of his hearing aids. He was absolutely convinced, despite my denials, that I must have moved it from the kitchen table where he leaves them overnight. As you will have guessed, we discovered a couple of hours later that it had been in his ear all that time!

So glad I'm in good company, having searched for my spare specs (which I was wearing), and looking for my phone when I was using it!

My late MIL went on a weekend break while DH was staying at her house. She felt awful on the journey and was getting worse so her husband took her to A&E in the good old days . They examined her gave her an ECG and could find nothing wrong. When they passed her her glasses she said they were not hers. Luckily she came home with them as blind as a bat. When she told DH he said he had lost his glasses a few days previous and was wearing his contact lenses. She had picked up DH's glasses by mistake!!!!
My BIL had a night out with DH and stayed over. In the morning they were in a very sorry state and thought they might have to go to bed. One went to vomit and realised with his glasses on they had put each other's contact lenses in.!!!!

my husband wore bifocals so put his glasses on in the morning and they stayed there until bedtime. I only needed them for reading and of course would put them down and have to find them. I got wise to that and when I went for new glasses went to specsaver where they had 2 pairs for 1 price. So then kept one set by the bed and the other with me downstairs. Got very bright case that would show up on the floor. Then the previous pair I did not give away but put them in my car in the glove compartment. They were a safety pair then in case I had left my glasses somewhere so could still look at map or whatever. Not good to use for a long time but fine for that short term use.
P.S. May I ask you all to remember when you really have finished with a pair of glasses that you either give them into the eye clinic at a hospital or at an opticians. These are checked out by qualified people and then sent to charities all over with the correct specification so that they give someone the chance to see again. Never throw them away. I once took a gentleman to hospital as a hospital car driver , and on the way he told me that he had just been emptying his aunts house as she had recently died and there were more than 10 pairs of glasses . He said he had put them to throw them away in the bin the next day but needless to say I persuaded him to give them to me and I passed them on to the charity. They were all bifocals which are very expensive and so it was good to know that they were put to good use elsewhere. ( what a pity you cant say Alexis where are my glasses!)

My dog’s favourite ball went missing for some days (this is something of a tragedy) so she had to make do with the others. We searched everywhere. Then when it turned colder I found it in the pocket of my gardening jacket. I think she still loves me …

Did that last week myself, so I can relate. Here's a thought....we have probably lived so long, acquired so much knowledge that there's little room left for recalling the mundane daily activities, and we forget what we did 5 minutes ago, (like putting spec's on head). That's my excuse. It is SO good to know we are truly are not alone, in our aging processes. Bless you all.

I used to wear a pinny with a large front pocket when I was an infant teacher as I was always doing several tasks at the same time and kept mislaying things. Am still the same. Can't get rid of my landline as am always using it to ring my mobile so I can track it down. Spent time with my 14 month old grand daughter making a Halloween card for her Mummy and Daddy and now can't find it. Have searched everywhere in the kitchen (only room we were in) and no sign of it. Can only hope it went home in her trunkie of books, clothes, etc but have no recollection of placing it in the case. Grand daughter and daughter in law both poorly and don't have much faith in my son remembering to look in the trunkie as he is as ditsy as I am! Can't say I ever lose my specs as am terribly shortsighted and would struggle to make it from one room to another without them.

Ohhhhh this is a funny 1.... i will admit that I too have been in that situation .....

My friend bought me for my birthday, a glasses chain... whoaaaaa it's PERFECT... I LOVE IT... no more misplaced glasses...

Someone mentioned about having something/some place to carry their cell phones on them? I'd recommend these. My best pal in UK once gave me a Vera Bradley bag. This brand seems to have slots in perfect places in all their handbags, crossovers, etc. The sealed/out of sight pockets are nice and deep. Then again, I sometimes forget the phone IS there. What am I like? Oh! just remembered another thing...or not, what really irks me - I was always 'top' of the class speller in school. These days, when I find I have to check to spell, it's a bit disappointing, but what can you do!

DH, me and family were holidaying in our touring van in Germany. Lovely surprise, two caravanning neighbours from home were on the same site, with their kids, so we had a joint "party" in our large awning. The following day DH could not find his glasses. It was only when he went to our onboard loo he found them in the bowl!!! Several others had used it since they landed there! We all still laugh about it 30 years on.
