I’m at work. Everyone is tetchy and foul and I thought, I bet it’s a full moon and low behold it’s a full moon tomorrow.

I am quite sensitive to other peoples moods and behaviours but I’m sure it is connected to the lunar cycle.

Woo šŸ™ˆ someone must agree with me?

Absolutely. Ex teacher and agree about the behaviour off children at these times. For sure Luna is the root word for lunatic

I treated a psychiatrist recently who said he'd had a stressful week, with lots of psychotic episodes. I said "Well yes, there's a full moon". He looked puzzled and I said the moon affects the tides and the tides affect us, we're 70%-80% water, as Castillemon said. Everything's interconnected. Plus the word lunatic comes from the Latin word for moon.

I work in mental health and I and some of my colleagues always used to say things got busy around a full moon. There has been research that refutes this, but I still believe a full moon has an effect on sensitive individuals mental state. I never sleep well when there is a full moon!

When I was Midwifing a full moon meant a lot more babies were going to arrive, I can’t explain but it happened every time.
This full moon was the 28th but was visible full for a day before and after. Officially it’s a Hunters Moon, you gather food for the winter

I always have difficulty sleeping for three nights with the full moon in the middle. I don't keep track of when they are but my body tells me, and when I look it up I'm right every time.

I didn’t even know about this. But I can honestly say, 2 nights ago, I was tossing and turning in my sleep, thinking of all things negative . Now I know why ..

Strange behavior has always been associated with the moon and the derivation of ā€œlunaticā€

A friend of ours worked for a local council and as part of his job had to deal with complaints from the public - he said there were always loads more complaints when it was a full moon!

Yes. And so could my father.

It definitely affects me and I sleep even worse than normal. And it affects my cat who goes a bit loopy.

I can tell when there’s a full moon if I look at it. Otherwise, no.

Haha, same here, or if I've read about it or have been told!

When I worked on an acute psych ward, we always knew when it was a full moon. I'm being serious - it was always much busier than usual (was that possible??)

I find I sleep more lightly around the time of the new moon. This si regardless of whether it shines in the bedroom windows and no matter how thick the clouds or how light impenetratable the curtains.

My aunt, who was a teacher, always said the children were more challenging when there was a full moon.

ā€œFull moon effectā€ is a real thing. It can be crazy and romantic at the same time.

When I worked in the hospital I always told my staff ā€œget ready, full moon ahead.ā€ Sure enough, already anxiety-ridden people were more so, more traumas came in, more agitation and acting out by visitors, erratic drivers on the road. Always a crazy and interesting time.

My kitty paces a lot for several days, is extra hungry, needs more attention, her schedule is off. When it’s over, she’s knocked out for a day like coming out of a hangover. She’s so sweet.

I've always maintained that the full moon knocks my sleep pattern haywire so it's interesting to find I'm not alone! Put this together with the clocks going back and I've had very little sleep for a good few nights. Like someone else said, I don't think about it until I have a couple of sleepless nights, so it's a physical rather than a psychological thing. It's also very beautiful. But it's effect seems to have got stronger as I have aged - I wish I knew how to cope with it!

A woman I knew years ago, swore her husband went on the turn around full moon became more difficult grew more hair on the back of his hands, everything minus the fangsshock I think possibly she was somewhat over egging!

Irritable moods and restless sleep never really related it before but family members have been showing the same behaviour. My son said he has had a very odd week he has been making mistakes and been irritable. It is unusual for him he is always so level headed and calm.

JaneJudge Thu 02-Nov-23 10:52:14

everyone is definitely calmer this week!

We used to go fullmoon walking high in the mountains in the south of France with moonshadows.. so beautiful.. but I find I'm more affected by a new moon

RosiesMaw Mon 27-Nov-23 10:50:34

Judging by some of the sillier spats on GN, I reckon I can! grin

I honestly can’t say I’ve ever noticed any difference. AFAIK it’s a fact that the ā€˜pull’ of the moon affects biology as well as tides, though. I’m sure I’ve seen a documentary about corals - all spawning together when there’s a particular full moon, so not surprising if humans and other animals are often affected.

Our cat went bonkers when there was a full moon. He used to run up trees, run down again, run along tops of fence panels and fly around the house like a whirling dervish.
