I m lying here listening to the crashes and bangs outside, the lights flashing on and off shining into my window as the trees bend backwards and forwards between me and the security light opposite I’ve just been downstairs to refill my hottie bottle and my poor old conservatory floor is wet all over. I ve got my radio on to try and hide the noise but its not doing much good
I have a Victorian fireplace in my bedroom the trapdoor keeps giving a bang so I ve been and got some string and tied that down but not an ounce of sleep in me

I'm sorry a lot of people are having such a rough time of it. I certainly don't think "I'm alright, Jack" RosiesMaw. I simply wondered why we haven't yet had it here. I don't sit looking at the news much. (other things to do)

Spare a thought - and some thanks - to those like my son who is currently up an electricity pole in Cornwall helping to get the power back on

Very grateful to all those who keep things running and every one safe in these dreadful conditions.

We recently had our gas meter moved. The two guys who came to do it had been out in 'biblical' rain in the middle of the night to sort a problem but still turned up to move our meter with a smile. We were so grateful to them.

What storm? I'm in the Midlands, and we've got a bit of rain, but no wind

That sounds a bit “I’m all right Jack” !
If you haven’t seen the tv/news images of flooding and the sea crashing over seafronts, trees across roads and services cancelled, where have you been?
West Midlands due to get 40mph + winds around midday/1 pm today .
Get back to us when you know “what storm” people are talking about.

We were in the West Midland at noon - 1pm and there was no wind, just rain, rain, rain.

In fact, having nearly cancelled an essential trip today, we didn't and conditions, although not great, were not as bad as we expected.

Thank you to your son, eddiecat and all those who keep our essential services going in difficult conditions.

I don't know if the forecast changed or we ran ahead of the wind and storm; rain was a problem, there were accidents too (hope no-one was injured) but not as bad travelling as feared.
