(63 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but locally looks a little bit calmer, and dry outside here in brackley .
Today usual trip on bus to Bicester maybe a couple of hours depends who I see that In know .
Otherwise stay in as I have nothing else planned today.
Take Care,
Mick
Sorry to read of the set back baubles. When you’ve completed your displays, will you post photos here, please, as you’ve done previously? I’m looking forward to them.
Enjoy the retail park Gala. Two favourite shops come to mind.
Burger, fries and Tropicana is my go to order at Mackie’s Marydoll, though I should be more adventurous. #laziness
Good morning from a sunny calm Suffolk after the torrential rain and high winds of yesterday.
We heard on the news that 100 schools had been closed in Suffolk. I imagine that many were cautious after 150 children had to stay overnight in their school in Framingham during the last storm as buses couldn’t get to school to take them home. Probably an adventure for the children but a nightmare for the staff!
A few huge branches were blown off the ash tree near the gate but no other damage. I feel so sorry for those whose homes have been flooded and/ or damaged.
The lanes and fields around here are still flooded so,apart from a walk with the dog,we’ll have another day at home.
Good morning from Shropshire.
As a dry day is forecast we will take the children into town.H loves the library and DGD likes to go for a hot chocolate.I have to pick up scripts too, thank you for the reminder Mary and also need to get the battery changed in my blood monitor.
Safe travels home Maw for you and your family.
Have the best day you can everyone.🌺🦩
Hope you feel better as the day goes on GrannySomerset💐
Good morning all froma drippy North Leicestershire.
We had a lovely evening with Dd1 and family yesterday though I do wish DGS3 would stop growing.
Not a lot happening here today, thankfully - it's been a busy week and the weekend looks the same.
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve only just woken up!
A quiet day today except for lunch out. I am saving myself for tomorrow when I’m going to London for a guided tour of St James’s Palace!
Have a good day.
Good morning from a cold but still, Scottish Borders.
Those storms were fierce in parts of England. Mizuna what a picture!
I enjoyed the Grayson Perry exhibition despite the crowds. I met an artist friend who took me out to lunch afterwards.
Last night was ceilidh dancing. It fairly warms us up!
Sorry your DH is still poorly Baubles
Get well soon
I do my volunteer stint at the community store this morning but the wood fire will be lit and someone in the café will bring me coffee and cake so onerous it is not.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. We have clear skies and a light wind.
I’m off mid morning to drive to Derbyshire to take DGS out to lunch then spend the weekend with the family. Chatsworth tomorrow then u15s football on Sunday.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry-ish. It's very cloudy though. Greyduster I don't like driving at night for the same reason. Marydoll what a pity your adventure wasn't up to scratch. Shel fingers crossed for the bungalow. It sounds ideal. I love my wee bungalow.
Yesterday I ordered a Christmas present for dgs1 which was practically ready instantly, so I nipped to town and picked it up. I pottered about the rest of the morning and had a nap in the afternoon. At night I visited mum. She's been moved back into a four bed room. She won't like it but being stuck on her own wasn't good for her. She was fairly chatty.
Today I have no plans. I'll probably do some housework and washings. Dd might call round later. A chicken, leek and cider dish for dinner. Have a good day all
Morning from a calm S Hampshire, very windy and wet yesterday, we’re high up so fine, but locally there’s been flooding and trees down.
It’s our wedding anniversary today, 16 years, being celebrated by next door having their driveway resurfaced🙂.
I’ve a friend coming for lunch and we’re out to dinner tonight, grocery delivery after lunch.
A regular night out is a great idea Urmstongran I hope you enjoyed yours.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle.
No storm happened here, it wasn't a bad day. I went outside in the afternoon to stop the stake on my front garden tree wobbling. I thought I'd driven it well in back in the spring but the road is a bit of a wind tunnel. I also got more bulbs potted up.
Today, a few little jobs to attend to then some reading and brain training I think. Must keep the grey matter in order!
Shel, good luck with the viewing, it's a bit of a stressful time for you if you have to move. I've had to do it myself.
Have the best possible day everyone.
And Happy Anniversary Jaxjacky.
Good morning from a dry NE where it has been very windy overnight. Had to wear earplugs to get to sleep.
I think my elder sister may visit this afternoon, she was waiting to see if I tested positive for covid after being with DS. I am clear, no covid symptoms at all.
Pleasant surprise yesterday, a win on the premium bonds and both GDs did too.
Have a good day.
Sunny good morning from Co Armagh,
Hoping it stays sunny to warm the room , heating is down again , looks like a new thermostat is needed
Off to art class , Daughter can see if anyone can come to see to the boiler , plumber has said it needs an electrician, scarce as hens teeth here
Good morning from a bright and Sunny Eden!! long may it last.
The family came back for the night on their way home and the house is in chaos again. I actually like it, I'll really miss them when they leave. GD has brought a hacking cough back with her I hope it is not catching.
House work and shopping are the highlights of my day.
We got away lightly with the storms and commiserations to all who suffered.
Take care all.
Good morning , another sunny day here.
MrOops drove me to the Drs yesterday through flooded lanes, lots of small cars were turning back.
X-ray this morning, Dr thinks I may have a virus, caught after my Asthma problem, should be gone by Christmas!!
Anyway, an X-ray to rule anything else out, meanwhile off all the extra meds. That might explain why I’m so exhausted all the time, I now have some anaesthetic throat spray to help stop me coughing.
Nothing much going on apart from that, shopping delivery later on.
Hope all the poorlies feel better soon and the rest of us have a good day.
Good morning everyone from Severnside.
Wishing you both a Happy Anniversary Jaxjacky 🥂
Have a good day all. It’s brighter here 💐
Greetings from the Spirit of Discovery on very wild seas. Our last port of call to Gran Canaria was cancelled as with a looming storms up the coast of Portugal we left a day earlier to try and beat them. Possibly not the best cruise we’ve had as only 4 days of this one have we not been buffeted about. It has aggravated my BPPV so have to be careful walking around (as do lots of others). We had good weather in all the islands we visited. DH booked the tours. 3 days running we went up volcanoes mostly involving scary switchback roads.
The worst night of the cruise so far. Tossed and turned all night due to stormy seas. Things kept crashing off shelves in the bathroom and sliding around. That’s Mount Teide in Tenerife.
Good morning all. I've just seen the sun!! Such a change from pouring rain and birds flying backwards and sideways. I'm glad to see all our contributors in this thread have escaped the worst of Ciaran, but great pic Mizuna! And good to see that Oldudder's cold hasn't affected his sense of humour Ash 😉
Yesterday's Tai chi class went well. Some of us have been together for more than 14 years now and I've been feeling that things were getting very stale and predictable so I've been spicing things up a little. It seems to be working with most, but to say that one elderly bachelor was sulking would be putting it mildly. I know change is difficult to handle as we get older, but he's six years younger than I am so no age at all!
I had sad news yesterday that my cousin had passed away peacefully. He would have been 85 in three weeks' time, but I'm told he was tired and ready to go. As I passed the news round my part of the family it was lovely to hear how he was remembered as 'fun' and 'a real character'. We're such a spread-out family geographically that meetings were few and far between, so heart-warming that that is the impression he has left.
Well, life goes on and we are about to celebrate DGD3's 18th Birthday this weekend - is Glasgow ready for this I ask myself. I'm picking her up from uni in my way through Dundee, then we're off!
Urms so lovely to hear your anticipation of your break in the warmth in Malaga next week. I feel your excitement.
Now off I go. I have only skimmed the posts today so my apologies if I haven't mentioned something I should, but everyone enjoy your day x
Happy Anniversary JaxJacky
Taichinan sorry to hear your sad news
You popped in my mind just now multicolouredswapsho
👋
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, lovely after yesterday's torrential rain.
I have a lift to dance classes, so was able to get out of the house for a couple of hours. Still busy trying to perfect our tap and ballet routines for our performance later this month.
Booked tickets for 3 films online yesterday - the Cliff Richard concert, Napoleon, and Maestro (a film about Leonard Bernstein) - a friend is keen to see the latter two, so I got tickets for her as well.
Just been online and ordered my medication; should be with me early next week, perfect timing.
Off out to the shops this morning; I have an M&S order to pick up, and then do a top-up shop after coffee and a snack in their cafe.
No further news about my DSis in hospital with a broken hip and neck; no news must be good news.
Have a good Friday everyone.
Good morning from Durham, where it’s stopped raining! (I’ve had that Hello Mother, Hello Father song in my head all week!). Windy last night, but no real storm here, just a week of non-stop rain and lots of standing water.
Today would’ve been DH’s 73rd birthday - up until his illness, this was a 6ft plus chap who ailed nothing, fit as a flea, never a broken bone nor hospital stay and walked at least 7 miles a day with his pack of spaniels. Life really can throw a curved ball? I fear one of gM’s soggy days ahead.
Best wishes to all. X
