Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

We had strong winds at times yesterday, especially mid-morning, but nothing to match what others suffered in the SW, especially Cornwall and the Channel Islands. I hope all our Gransnetters are safe.

Poor DH has gone down with a heavy cold, probably caught on his rail journey here. He is rather sorry for himself at the moment but TIB always helps to revive. We had no plans for today so another day of hibernation is likely.

Thank you for the kind words and stories of other mishaps with jars, etc yesterday, following the Tika Masala debacle! I’m pleased to say there was no staining to any surfaces, including the floor which is laminate.

Have a good day, everyone, wherever possible. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning ,dark and miserable at the moment, I'm just about to get a cuppa and then take the dog out for a quick walk, later I will take him to the woods for a run with my daughters dog,
I am viewing a bungalow this afternoon, my dh is now wheelchair bound and can't get upstairs to his clothes etc, the bungalow is close to the Atlantic sea, and beaches just a very short drive away, it needs must sadly but a new chapter

Good morning from s somerset, a bit more sun than rain later

There are lots of flooded areas in the county, away from where I live, my last village was inaccessible except by land rover but as always there was a lot of community spirit. Not a driving day here, floods must have time to subside

That leaves me with an indoor day and I am hoping to get the oomph to do a quick walk around town.

Have a good day

Good morning from a rainy, quiet Cornwall, where I didn't feel the brunt of the weather yesterday and the large trees behind my flat remained intact, unlike this one, complete with bench, in our local cemetery.

My blind daughter is coming to stay soon so today I'll start adopting my flat to her needs, though it only means moving a few bits of furniture and floor lamps which would act as hurdles to her in this small space.

Ash, my own culinary explosion was pea soup in a blender with a loose lid many years ago! Boy, did it travel! 😁

Good morning from Bristol. That storm was a damp squib here too, a bit of rain, a bit of wind, sullen sky….
Poor Jersey has suffered badly - we lived there for 5 years for DH’s job, my last two were born there, “Jersey beans”.
I spent yesterday morning cutting out the pieces necessary for my ninja cat quilt and made the first two squares, they really are very easy!
Had dinner at DD’s. I also got there a bit early to have a shower and wash my hair. Oh, it was good!
Spanish this morning, I need to stretch my brain a bit. 30 minute walks there, get my steps in as my neighbour says - not that I’ve ever counted them!
I hope all the poorlies and unhappy have a reasonable day. Don’t forget your random act of kindness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning Mick, morning All from a very soggy corner of Somerset.

We counted ourselves fortunate yesterday with lower wind speed than forecast. It’s always windy here, at times noisy but no damage, goodness it rained though and there is some localised flooding. My heart goes out to all impacted.

Didn’t get to BT yesterday, will try to do so this morning, x-rays for me after lunch, think it will be too wet for a walk, or should I say one we’d enjoy.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 03-Nov-23 06:39:10

That’s a well-captured photo, Mizuna! olddudders says he blames the bench!

Good morning all and it looks calmer and drier out there, here in Essex.

Today I’m meeting up with 6 old school friends. Two I see regularly but the others I havent seen since our 40th reunion.(33yearsago). And before that it was as we left school at 16 .
I’m so looking forward to it.

My internet was down yesterday so I was unable to post until about 2pm. If you didn’t see it, I wanted to thank GrannyGravy and Sar for a lovely lunchtime meetup on Wednesday. Always good to see them.

I hope you all survived the Storm with no damage.
Take care 🌻

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Nov-23 06:57:08

Morning all, I have been awake since 4am, now up to cook the 8yr olds breakfast before his 8am school start.

Off to the gym then a coffee and natter. A quick rest before picking up The Imp from preschool for a sleepover here.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I hope no one was badly affected by the storm yesterday.

Our poppy decorating hit a snag yesterday evening as the lock has been changed on the gate to the castle ruin meaning we couldn’t gain access. It’s now a live site apparently as at some point contractors will be going in to work on shoring up unsafe areas. We will have to rethink that area but we did get most of our usual places done.

Off to Edinburgh today for childminding, DH is getting stronger but will still spend much of the day in an armchair.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a soggy Sefton. It rained solidly here yesterday with a stiff breeze & appears to have rained overnight. Quiet out there at the moment.
Two zoom exercise classes this morning. Then a mooch around a local retail park in the hope of getting inspired re a bit of early C--------s shopping. Shopping is now a chore & not something to be 'enjoyed'.
Hope everyone survived the storm without too much trauma. We have been lucky here as it seems to have bypassed us.

Pittcity Fri 03-Nov-23 07:15:03

Good morning from a bright chilly Colchester.
It rained all day yesterday with occasional gusts but not as bad as forecast.
We didn't get to London. The trains were running on time until we got a few stops down the line when a deluge caused flooding ahead. We were on a non stop express but they allowed us to get off and we took a local back to Colchester. We consoled ourselves at a local Pizza place.
No plans until next week now.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a calm, dry South Yorkshire. I had a lovely day out yesterday with DD apart from the rain that battered us on the way from the bus to the cinema. The Great Escaper is a lovely, very moving film which had us both weeping. We had a nice lunch and a mooch round the shops before coming home. My drive home in the dark and the rain was trying. It’s not the conditions that are my nemesis but other people’s headlights. I was glad to get in.
Today I don’t plan to do a lot except make a curry for tomorrow when DS will be here and then the rest of the crew in the evening.
Have the best day you can folks.

ginny Fri 03-Nov-23 07:19:32

Good morning. No rain this morning and just a breeze. Hopefully we have escaped the storm. Thinking of those who have been affected.
Just a few jobs indoors today and then mixing the Christmas puds. Family will be around over the weekend and they still enjoy the tradition of a stir and a wish. Otherwise it might be mince pies for the freezer and some crafting.
Kind thoughts to those who are poorly or dealing with troubles of any type. Hope you all find a smile along the way.

Nannagarra Fri 03-Nov-23 07:22:28

Good morning from Sefton.
‘Tis the birthday season for us - each week we have another. It’s impossible to have too much cake, though, isn’t it?
I hope Urms enjoyed the cocktail and meal last night, and that everyone has the best Friday possible.

Marydoll Fri 03-Nov-23 07:30:29

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

Yesterday, I did make it to Costco, but what an awful experience. It was packed to the gunnels, as soon as it opened. We witnessed trolley rage, car park rage and motorway rage, due to only two lanes being open.
Why are people so angry?
The checkout queue snaked all the way round the warehouse, at one point, I thought I was going to faint and desperately tried to hide it from DD.

While on the motorway, I received a call from the surgery. I thought it was my GP, but it turned out to be a different GP.
I explained I was on the motorway and the reception was poor. DD was shouting, Tell her you are not driving!.
Apparently they had some medical students in the surgery and thought I would be an interesting case. Unfortunately, I wouldn't have managed back in time. I enjoy doing this, because the students have to try and work out with is wrong with you, without you giving too much away! 😉
I agreed to do it the next time. They will have their work cut out! 🤣

DD and SIL said they would treat me to a Mcdonalds. ( DH refuses to darken their doors, unless we have Dollie.
I was so looking forward to it, but they had no water, so no soft drinks at all available! Its not the same having a burger with a bottle of Tropicana. 😪

I need to pick up some prescriptions, I haven't been able to go because of the weather and I'm running out of one medication.
Otherwise no plans for the rest of the day.
My craft room is a mess, so I may do a bit of tidying up, if I feel up to it.

Have a good day folks. I hope OldD feels better soon.

NannyJan53 Fri 03-Nov-23 07:32:45

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Off to DD's village in Staffs shortly to spend the weekend with 2 DGD's, whilst Mum and Dad have a weekend away to celebrate SIL's 50th.

Ten Pin Bowling on the agenda, meal out tonight and making cakes! Not in that order smile

Wishing you all the best day possible

RosiesMaw Fri 03-Nov-23 07:37:09

Good morning from high on a ridge in S Somerset. The Internet is down so I'm using my phone and don't have a lot of data to spare so suffice it to say I shall be on my way home this afternoon after helping D to pack up the house. Need to get the GC out too as yesterday was difficult. We decided to take them bowling in Taunton but so many roads on the way were flooded/ impassable/ congested because of wayer or shunts, that it took longer than usual, quite stressful too. They had a swim when we got back and I took the dog out but the heavens opened again. It looks fine today so I also hope some of the lower lying roads will have cleared.
Kind thoughts to all.

brook2704 Fri 03-Nov-23 07:37:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had lots of overnight rain and more to come this morning
Hope the viewing goes well Shel69, it sounds like the bungalow is in a lovely location
I’m off to the gym this morning and then nothing much else planned. Lots of housework and sorting out stuff to keep me busy
Enjoy your get together Gingster, lots to catch up on I expect!
Have a lovely weekend looking after the DGDs Nannyjan sounds like you’ve got it sorted
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

luluaugust Fri 03-Nov-23 07:39:41

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Not sure what is happening today yet, the physio yesterday seems to have knocked me out but has helped. I didn’t get to my art group as the rain got really heavy around the time I was supposed to leave.
Plenty of cake sounds a good idea Nanna
All the best

Marydoll Fri 03-Nov-23 07:40:12

I meant to welcome Shel69, I've not seen you posting before. Good luck with your viewing.

GrannySomerset Fri 03-Nov-23 07:42:26

Feel awful this morning and wonder if it is yesterday’s covid jab but need to get going as I have yet another workman shortly and a funeral at mid-day. Hope life looks better when up and showered.
